[Q] Stump Root not working with Lg G3 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys new around these parts... anyway.. I succesfully rooted the LG G3 using "Stump Root" on my friends phone... she enjoyed the benefits of having a rooted phone for about 3 weeks before she came in to work and told me her Pandora One and Pandora Patcher weren't working anymore... i checked Xpossed Installer thinking that was the problem... thats when i noticed the phone wasnt allowing me root access... when i open up SuperSU it says "there is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. this is a problem, If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root-consult the relevant forums for your device"... maybe she did a system update because her phone is showing Android 4.4.2... so that is why i am now here... asking for your assistance... I know i'm a newbee or whatever term might apply, but assistance would be much appreciated... everything else i have accomplished on my own so far, but one could say I'm a bit "STUMP-ed" on this one.. pun intended. please someone help me with re-rooting this LGg3... i hope fixing it is as easy as the initial "stump root" process.

[Q] Strange things after unbrick

Hello guys!
This is my first post here. I read a lots of things here, but none covered whats happening to me.
So, I have my P500 which I bricked earlier today. Don't ask me how I got it unbricked, I don't remember. I installed that leaked GB rom that is avaliable here and it worked.
So, just after that, I got the right GB for me, and installed using KDZ. Now I can't update my phone with LG software. There is some way to bypass this?
Also, after updating Superuser, I can't update su bin anymore, only gives me error. What is wrong? The wifi is on and it is stable, but no luck.
Sorry if all of these are already covered, I didn't found it anywhere.
Solved eveything. LG won't update anymore, I think it is because the custom recovery I installed.
I got Superuser working (updating su binaries) by uninstalling the auto-updated version and downloading it again from Market. Now everything seems fine.
Hope this help someone someday.

[Q] am i rooted or not?

Hello!
I purchased a used Bell Atrix online, which apparently has been rooted.
I installed a root checker to see if it is rooted and it indicates that it is not "rooted". However, anti-virus programs such as AVG indicates that it IS "rooted".
i would like to "un-root" the phone, but am unable to figure out how.
i have tried a factory reset, however this does not appear to resolve the issue.
is there a way to figure out the method of my rooting so i can go from there?
or do i do a total root and then unroot?
system version
45.21.78.mb860.bellmobility.en.ca
android version
2.3.6 (done over the air)
webtop version

kernel version
2.6.32.9

i have no idea what is normal (stock) and what can be attributed to being rooted
thanks for any help
Root Checker
Hello, sorry to use the same thread but i was wondering about the same thing, i have 2.3.6 ota and tried to root my phone but at the end it didnt installed anything not even tu su app or the terminal app.
I downloaded the root checker but it tells me "this device does not have proper root access" - does this mean I have no root access at all, or there is some, but it's not 'proper'. ?
also should i worry after this if i plan to upgrade over the air to ics ota when it comes out?
Sorry about it, im quite noob at this, if you can help me with my questions i would appreciate it a lot, because i couldnt find anything on the internet about it
i checked with that one as well as the other free one in the play store. I also installed "superuser" (little android dude with an eye patch), and it say i wasnt rooted either.
so im not sure where to go next.
do a full and proper root (will that mess anything up, considering im apparently already "rooted/not rooted" depending on what to believe), and then do a proper un-root.
or keep searching and asking what to do?
thanks for your help...

LG G3 SuperSU Root Problem

just looking for help with my AT&T LG G3. So I got my G3 while it was still on KitKat, I rooted it with Stump Root. Everything was going alright. It was all good until the Lollipop OTA update came around. I updated my phone and noticed that SuperSU was giving me this message: "There is no SU binary installed, and Super SU cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upgraded to Android 5.0, you need to manually re-root-consult the relevant forums for your device.!" Iv'e looked into complicated steps of manually re rooting my device, but I don't think those are the same situations I am in. Therefore, Can somebody please, either link me to a proper instruction on how to fix my problem, or reply with an answer.

Issues with Rooting/installing Custom ROM

Hello,
I have browsed XDA for some time now(S4 launch), but this is the first time I have not been able to get my problem solved without posting directly.
As such, I'm not quite sure if this is the correct place to post this and I sincerely apologize if I am in the wrong here.
Specs:
Android Version 5.0.2.
Baseband Version G925VVRU1AOE2
Kernal Version 3.10.61 Dated May 12, 2015
Hardware G925V.04
KNOX 2.4
The biggest issue is ping pong root not working for my device. I think if I can get this to work, my issues would be solved.
-Yes, it is in the supported devices section
-- I have searched [ROOT] PingPongRoot ***S6 & S6 Edge Root Tool*** Android 5.0.2 OC3/OE2 Only!!! extensively for this specific issue to no avail
--- I follow all steps and still get "device not supported, stay tuned"
---- using the search function within the thread, I looked for anything relating to G925VVRU1AOE2 and also tried a number of tricks that weren't build specific.
----- I have flashed G925VVZW1AOC3 and rooted with ping pong root with no issues. Flashing AOE2 back on gives the same error I had before.
------ Once upon a time I rooted with ping pong root on AOE2... This was shortly after it was supported.
My ultimate goal is to install a custom ROM. I was thinking Extreme Syndicate V8
For this, I need to be rooted on AOE2 via ping pong root.. Like I mentioned before, AOC3 root works fine and I have no issues with using that, except I need AOE2 + flashfire for this ROM.
I have never installed a custom ROM before, but I would like to start. If this ROM is a bad choice, I am open to suggestions. The extreme debloat is what drew me here.
All that said and done, I'll provide a little more in depth history.
I mentioned I originally rooted AOE2 with ping pong root in the past.
Shortly after that I was using XMODGAMES and somehow ended up downloading KINGROOT. Not sure what it did to my device but I could never uninstall kingroot completely. It would reinstall on reboot even after uninstalling with kingroot.
Eventually I came across SuperSUme and used that to successfully remove kingroot and switch over to SuperSU.
All was well and good (on my Stock AOE2 ROM)
About 2 days ago my google services framework crashed. I was able to identify Google+ not syncing properly as the cause... However I could not locate a fix. Through my tinkering I lost the google play store. So I decided to just do a full factory reset, hoping it would be simpler than trying to fix the issues I was having.
That brings us to today. I have so far flashed AOE2 - > AOC3 -> AOE2, with around 5 hard resets in between.
I figured I could just use kingroot to get rooted, then SuperSUme to get back to SuperSU and that should allow me to use flashfire.
WRONG. SuperSUme never asks for root permission(or kingroot automatically blocks it idk). So SuperSUme doesn't work. I tried this with kingroot 4.9, then 4.1 and I think 4.5 (not exactly sure what the last one was)
I looked for a more complex rooting method since it appears the one touch ones weren't going to get the job done, but couldn't find anything.
If anybody could point me in the right direction to getting rooted with SuperSU, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Root for ZTE Max Duo? (Z963VL Straight Talk)

So a few months ago I bought my first Android phone in years, a ZTE Max Duo from Straight Talk. Unfortunately, since then I have found absolutely nothing about the phone on forums like this, let alone any way to root it. Has anyone managed to root this phone, and if so, how? I don't have regular access to a PC, but if the only way to root it is through a PC, I might ask for permission to use one.
I am looking for the same with this phone.. It seems like a great piece of hardware thus far bit could use some tweaks that a root could certainly take care of but no info whatsoever.. Any help with this would be great.
I figured out how to root the ZTE max duo (z963vl) via (iroot) I have the exact file and can tell u what to enable for root email me at [email protected] il send the file
Any Success?
It looks like there are a few variants of this device. I have the Imperial Max that is sold on US Cellular. Exact same phone and specs except for the radio.

I would like a copy of that file if you still have it and don't mind sharing it.
Man I've been trying to find any custom ROM or something that can get me to 6.0+ or 7.0+ because I can't deal with 5.1.1
But after searching relentlessly it seems that it doesn't exist.
I've been trying to find a ROM we could port over but that's looking grim too. I made a request over at CM so hopefully someone gracious enough will make one.

KingRoot now roots the phone but the bootloader is still locked!
The ZTE max duo LTE (z963vl) can now be rooted via KingRoot but only temporarily. When you reboot the phone you will lose root. You can not make any system changes either still because the bootloader is still locked after root. You can not update BusyBox either. Also when you root the phone with KingRoot it says "This model restricts root authorization". To fix that error just completely close KingRoot and re-open it and it will fix the root authorization error. Dev's or anyone for that matter please help unlock this phone's bootloader please I really want to start getting custom roms and recovery for this phone plus I want to be able to write to /system. I hope this helps as much as possible and I hope the bootloader will become unlocked with all the Devs help. Also I did this with the apk version of KingRoot only because I do not have a PC.
Great news...

This is a good start... hopefully something comes of this... God I want this phone rooted!!!
Hmmmmm...
So I tried Mardeys method and it did root like he said... installed su superuser and root checker... they worked... busybox wouldn't install... restarted my phone and lost root... so I did it all again then just powered off my phone and started it with power button and volume up... took me to recovery screen with a few options... one being sideload with adb...
I am new at all this so don't know if that helps but would love to get this thing rooted...

Which superuser app are you using? The one by ChainDD just crashes when I run it, and SuperSU keeps saying the binary needs to be updated but fails when I try to do it.

Wall here's what my whole setup was... I ran King root... It said I was rooted but didn't restart my phone... I installed superuser and ran it... This is the one I used... Supersu by chainfire... I installed busy box also but had the same problem about need to update binary files blah blah blah... I then installed a root checker and said I was rooted... Super su was found and busy box... Still no reboot... So I tried installing a few root apps... I installed a app remover for bloat were and it worked... But... When I reboot my phone I lose it all... And can redo it all again but it won't stay on there... Not tech dumb but don't know enough to figure it out... Hopefully that helps you a little as far as what my experience was... Like I said before... If I boot into recovery there is an adb sideboard option so... Just hope it gets figured out soon... Would love to have this rooted with a good room on it.... Starting to think it's a hopeless cause... One more thing to add... While rooted I installed a boot manager to see if it would go into a deeper boot recovery mode at restart but it didn't...
I honestly wish I could swap out Kinguser for something else. SCR ScreenRecorder Pro doesn't seem to realize that there is root, even after granting it permission through Kinguser, which leads me to believe either I'm not actually rooted, or KingUser is garbage.
Does anyone have the firmware for this phone?
No answers? Nothing?
Did you guys try $su reboot disemmcwp in a terminal after rooting? That's always the next step on ZTE phones.
Going to try that now... Can't find a copy of the firmware anywhere however. Worries me in case I need to reflash
I'd like to get this phone rooted too I've only been only to temproot by kingroot

Just tried it myself, but after it's done rebooting, the root's still gone.
Edit: I've noticed that the XDA Labs app seems to think this is a ZTE Blade. Perhaps I might have some luck there?
