Hello, I was wondering if anyone has an iPad mini or air they would compare this to. I'm primarily wondering about speaker quality and volume, and feel in hand.
Currently have a mini 2 64 gig, but wish I could hop over fully to android as, well, iOS.
I had an ipad air 2 for about a week to compare with the sony xperia z3 tablet compact, and just going off speakers and overall build quality feel, I would have to give it to the ipad air 2. Build quality, at least in my opinion will also go to the ipad when comparing to other tablets. And although the ipad's speakers are on the side and only on one side at that (compared to the sony's front facing speakers), the ipad's are clearer and have more bass than the sony xperia z3 tablet compact. The only problem is that when you crank up the volume on the ipad air 2, you can feel the sounds reverberate through the body of the tablet, it bothers some people, it really didnt bother me.
Thats not to say that the sony's build quality is bad. It is actually one of the better feeling tablets I've tested especially considering how light and thin it is. I ended up keeping the sony because Im more used to the android ecosystem than the iOS ecosystem, I needed a tablet that was going to be able to mirror its screen to my tv and fill the entire screen (the ipad can mirror screen to tv but doesnt fill my widescreen tv, so black bars on both sides of the image), and the sony's storage expandability was also a factor.
The ipads processor was quite a bit faster than the sony's though. And while in day to day tasks like browsing the web, watching movies and such you couldnt really tell the difference, when I started pushing the tablets hard (like playing really graphic intensive games) the processing speed and graphics ability of the ipad really powered over the sony. Load up time for starting games was much faster and once game play started, the game played a lot smoother on the ipad (almost double the framerate).
Honestly, if I didnt want a tablet that could mirror its screen to my tv I would have probably kept the ipad air 2. If the air 2 was a 16:10 aspect ratio that would be something I would buy in a heartbeat.

Tried the nexus 9 and sent it back. To heavy for my use, much worse speakers, and got much hotter in minimal use. Tried an iPhone 6 also but I missed so many things from my moto x I didn't stick with it.
Guess I'm stuck straddling the fence for another year

Exactly how I feel. I didnt think I was buying a tablet for gaming as one of its purposes, but when I saw the types of games that are out for tablets nowadays, being able to play games lag free definitely became a factor I took into consideration. Hopefully next year will be the year that someone comes out with a tablet that REALLY beats the ipad in all aspects, because so far the ipad has most if not all android tablets beat in battery life, build quality, and processor speed
I would say jump on the Z3C tablet. I compared a friend iPad air 2, and the Xperia was substantially better in petty much every way. Better screen, waterproof, better sound, felt more responsive (despite the iPad air 2 benchmarking much better)
I couldn't spot a single area the iPad was better in real tangible ways, many areas there wasn't whole lot to choose, but there were several key areas the Xperia was obviously better.
My only personal gripe with the Z3C tablet is the lack of QI charging. Aside from that don't nailed it in every other respect, and it's early the best tablet on the market, bar none.
i owned ipad mini 2 a few months ago and sold it, replace with samsung galaxy tab s 8.4 still thinks ipad mini better than samsung tab s. but then sold and buy Z3TC, i felt that this is way better than those two.
the screen mostly, is soft and natural compare to samsung, but ipad mini screen is not bad either, both is crisp and excellent. but i think sony is a little bit more natural, and my eyes aren't tired watching it.
and the other thing is the battery Z3TC very good compare to samsung and ipad. sony is way better, the battery is excellent so far.
I used sister's Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet for 2 weeks, both of the tablets are well built, but I d say it is much better than any version of iPad mini. The main advantages are:
1. Android - for me it is much better than iOS.
2. Z3 Compact Tablet can be used as a phone, sometimes it is helpful
3. SD card usage is possible.
4. Sony's screen is much better.
As for sound quality both of the tablets are even.
I have the iPad air and Z3TC, the only things the iPad wins at is the camera and app availability for tablets. The Z3 tablet is better in every other regard.
fwiw, I have no iPad to compare the Z3TC to, but I do have a Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (budget tab). The Z3TC is a much better computer than the Galaxy Tab. And the built-in speakers are noticeably better, and it has all of T-Mo's frequencies, etcetera.
But as far as pre-amp audio quality from the headphone jack - I don't know if I lost anything by unlocking my bootloader, but the Z3TC pales in comparison to the Galaxy Tab. Hell, it is even inferior to a cheap Chinese Blu Toch Book 7.0 I previously owned. This wasn't a complete surprise as gsmarena tested the Z3TC's audio quality and it rated well below the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Lite, but I didn't think the overall quality drop could possibly be more noticeable.
With head phones attached and EQs running, it sounds passable, arguably better than the Galaxy Tab because there is more volume if less clarity while your EQ is running. But I spent a day fixing up my SD card and my media database, hooked the Z3TC up in my car, wow don't know if it was distortion or interference, but even without an EQ running and even without media volume all the way up, you could hear it (my assumption is that the distortion was generally at a low frequency that most headphones & small speakers would cut off). Big difference - Galaxy Tab has much less volume while EQ'd up, but the clarity is outstanding and the bass is clean and my car stereo provides a +18db boost.
Just figured I'd share. There could be more to this equation than I am realizing, but I don't recommend the Z3TC as a music player for anyone trying to feed good speakers (or a good amp I should say) via the headphone jack. My Galaxy tab is going to be permanently mounted in my car now as a music player, although I had been planning to sell it. I will have to buy a 2nd mount for the Z3TC (which is my new phone and in-car computer).
(p.s. see here for a side by side comparison of overall sound quality via headphone jacks - iPad Mini offers up far less distortion than the Z3TC, and the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Lite outdoes both tablets, all things considered)

Hi all.I just bought an ipad and i would like to share some thoughts on how this two compares. I decide for first gen, because its was on sale, 32 GB 3g version for just 499€ (with some extra discount) and software wise its pretty much like his young brother.
Build quality is much better than folio, it dont even compares. It fell solid as hell.
The screen is very good, but just a bit smaller than the one on folio.
One thing it misses are the stereo speakers. I would say that folio had in fact better sound.
Speed wise folio is faster. Pages load a lot faster and apps too. Despite that ipad does still runs fine for most apps and games.
Apps in ipad are much richer and polished... And app store is clean and well organised than android market.
Of course ipad doesnt have flash support but this days some major sites are jumping into html5. Still folio is taking the lead here.
One other thing that can give the edge to ipad are accessories... Most are very expensive though There are lots and lots of staff to improve ipad usability. In other hand folio doesnt need to be connect to an pc to get started, and you can use sd cards for grabbing content. Ipad does need to connect to a pc or mac for kick start, and It doesnt sync over the air.
Costumization is very poor under iOS and android is more open in terms of its homescreen replacements.
Ipad keyboard is not as good as other android keyboards just like thumbs keyboard, but its definetly better tha stock android keyboard.

Office suite from apple is a must and surpasses android apps on this matter.

Couldn't agree more, that's exactly what I felt when using both as well.
In respect to graphics, tegra 2 as of course better potencial. But the shortage of tegra 2 optimized games is here to last...
How smooth is the folio with foliomod v1.4 compared to the iPad when using the Internet? I'm having a hard time convincing myself not to choose the iPad over the folio. But folio is so much cheaper and more fun loading new roms and home replacements and such....
I find the iPad (gen1) very slow for web browsing, plus you are much more restricted about the choice of browsers. There are some big differences between the two, which one is best will depend on where your priorities are. Not having to use itunes to manage my (legally paid for) music is a huge plus for the folio for me.

Does the foliomod rom improve the internet experience? Is there a video somewhere? I´ve seen the video with foliomod 0.2, but is there any newer? perhaps with a comparison?
How does it handle flash, like HDmt.net for example? Would it be possible to run that and display it to a tv? Does the tv mirror what´s on your device or does the folio´s screen turn black?
Btw, I think itunes sync is a plus... (But a option would be great...)

Browsing it's not terrible slow on Ipad, but sure is slower than Folio. I think the main problem here is the lack of RAM, this happens when you have lots of tabs open. You can use Life browser that is in my opinion works better than Ipad.
You have lots and lots of browser for iOS, but hardware limitations are of course still affecting performance.
I 100% agree that itunes is not the best tool in the world to organize you music, but I guess I can live with that.
The answer is a big YES. you will get awesome browsing experience with FolioMod.
Still in my opinion it isn't all that stable, maybe because of flash.
You can of course use hdmi out to get a mirror on your TV or LCD display monitor.
Deciding between and N10 and N7, and I am torn.

Nexus 10
+ Insane Resolution
- Dual Core
That's all I really know about both devices. I have 2 friends with N7's and I really like the form factor, A LOT. But something about the N7 just doesn't sell me on it. Likewise, the N10 seems to be something I'm more familiar with, but the price tag seems like a bit much for me, considering I've never managed to see one in retail.

I've purchased the Nexus 7 twice, and I've sold it twice. The first time I sold it was when I purchased the Nexus 10... Then I re-purchased it a month later because I missed the small form factor for when I was out of the house. I then return it 7 days later (yesterday) when I jumped ship to T-Mobile and upgraded my Nexus S to the Nexus 4. The Nexus 4 made the Nexus 7 a redundant piece of technology and also out performs it by a large margin.
The Nexus 7 is a great piece of equipment for the price.. I will give you the pros and cons..
Cons
* - Audio quality via the headphones is awful. There are a ton of apps claiming to make your headphones vomit rainbows and unicorns but those types of app packages I steer clear from as I don't believe in them as from past experience they never work. DAC matters not the app.
* - I/O speeds are slow.. You can see a side by side comparison I posted of the read/write speeds between the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 here. It can be slower to load apps/games than you might expect a tablet to perform. It's not bad, but compared to other devices it's noticable.
* - Color reproduction isn't the best.
* - (opinion) The Tegra 3 I wasn't impressed with.
* - No rear facing camera

* - Size: If you have no other tablet or a Smartphone with a large LCD like a Nexus 4 or GS3 then this will be a great portable device for you to get stuff done with.
* - Price: Currently what you get for the price is a good bargin. The longer its on the market though the slimmer this "good bargin" edge becomes and inches closer to being just another tablet on the market in a price range. It's still a great bang for the buck though and not much competes with it.. Yet...
Nexus 7 is exactly what it was aimed to be.. A good performing tablet on above average hardware for the price. You miss out on things like high i/o speeds and a rear camera but you have to give some things up for the $249 price tag.

Cons
* - Same bad color reproduction the Nexus 7 had.. It's not a deal breaker but it's obvious.
* - The general consensus is don't buy them from Google directly. Find a retailer as it will make returns easier if it's defective.. Some believe the N10s have a high defect rate, some believe they don't.. It's currently the elephant in the room in the N10 forums. I wouldn't let it keep you from buying one but just be aware the concern exists.
* - Size.. It's 10 inches.. Some people think that this will never be a concern for them.. Until they get it and try making it a part of their daily schedule.. It's not meant to be throw in your pocket and carry around as a day planner.. It's big
* - You can't play Tegra HD games
* - It ain't cheap
Pros
* - Speed.. Speed.. Speed.. Mother of god is it fast
* - Resolution speaks for itself.. The screen is incredible
* - Battery life considering the pixels and speed the processor is putting out is fantastic. I average 8-10hrs of screen on time with non-gaming casual use.

The only thing sacrificed was 2.3 inches of screen but I gained ten fold in performance, screen quality and audio quality...

I'd only add one thing: the Tegra 3 in the Nexus 7 absolutely gets destroyed by the Exynos 5 in the N10. Even though the Exynos 5 is dual core, it's based on the newer A15 architecture which is a huge jump in performance, so the core count doesn't really matter in this case.
i bought the nexus 7 day 1, It was a awesome little tab and ran great until 4.2.1. New update smoothed it out a bit. It's nice, but I also have a Note 2 and the jump to the tab wasnt big enough. I still used it, but i just wasnt completly happy having both. I bought the Nexus 10 last week and love it. Its fast, great resolution, great camera and doesnt feel too big for me when im laying in bed which was my main concern. I actually booted up my N7 last night and just holding it i kept thinking "what is this a tablet for ants?". It's funny considering I dont get that feeling with the note 2, but then again its probably because i know its a phone not a tablet.
I'd say it depends what your phone is. If you have a iphone or something with a smaller screen, you might want to go for the N7, if its something in the bigger end near 5" or more, go with the N10
I went for the 10 over the 7 because I have a Galaxy S3 for portability and wanted a larger screen to use about the house. Oh and the specs of the 10 simply blew me away .

Thanks for saving me all that typing lol... that's exactly why I have a10 now. My wife has the Nexus 7. Between the I/O speeds and premium feel its a no brainer. I have two managers at work who are getting then after seeing mine. One even returned his 2 day old iPad4 because it was no comparison. Also not to be over looked are the front speakers. You never quite realize how bad cupping is to get decent sound is until you don't have to do it anymore.... pure perfection.

You are absolutely correct about the sound quality, I've given up on the Nexus 10 a few times after feeling it was impossible to get one without major issues but keep coming back after trying other devices. My favorite alternative was the Asus Vivotab Smart but the volume is extremely low and poor sounding which ultimately made me return it and try a few more nexus 10's the sound quality on this tablet is amazing compared to the rest.

...My favorite alternative was the Asus Vivotab Smart but the volume is extremely low and poor sounding which ultimately made me return it and try a few more nexus 10's the sound quality on this tablet is amazing compared to the rest.

I was actually considering buying this tablet in the future, but hearing the various reports of audio volume, it doesn't sound too good.
I sold my iPad 3 for it because I thought Google had gotten it right this time. Big mistake. Significant downgrade.

I had an iPad 3, dad has a 4. I sold mine for the Nexus 7 and then upgraded to the N10. I have two friends at work getting them as well, one of whom returned his iPad4 after 3 days for the N10.
Although I'm a Android lover I was a huge advocate for the iPad. It was a great device done right. But not so much anymore. Google did an amazing job on this device and I can no longer recommend an iPad, only the apps are better, but to be honest in the past 6 months the play store has jumped by leaps and bounds

Instability, Backlight bleed and battery life. Even on CM 10.1 I'm still getting random reboots everyday and 5 hours of screen on time. Compared to never rebooting and 12+ hours of screen on time. And I'd take the lower resolution over the 2560x1600 anyday if it meant zero backlight bleeding and much better performance.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I prefer Android. I'd just rather a cohesive and smooth experience like I have with my Note 2. If the Nexus 10 had that I would be stoked on it. But it doesn't. Gets the job done for now but I was happier with the iPad so I'll likely go back unless Samsung releases a Note 10.1 with retina quality display.
Edit Edit: I'm also not saying the iPad is objectively better because you can't say that about either. I'm just saying for my use, in my experience, the iPad was smoother and much more stable. No random reboots for me on it whereas on the Nexus 10 it would lock up all the time and the battery life was wonderful. You can say, "Oh you shouldn't use your tablet more than 5 hours a day anyway" but that's also assuming you are always in a location where you can charge it.
I get Nexus 10 as:
Insane resolution, the wording was extreme clear and sharp, far better than my laptop.
Smooth performance. In market, not much Android tablet was smooth as this, for current available android tablet, I only can accept Padfone 2.
It is not iOS, sorry iOS never my prefer OS due to it restriction and boring interface.
** Reboot/hang issue was fixed 99% now in 4.2.2, so I am ok with it. Anyway Google really need more stability build on it Android OS, as no doubt it still cannot compete with stability of iOS.
My N10 just arrived a week ago...
I've been all over the place... with 2 7" tablets, 2 7.7" tablets, 2 8.9" tablets and 2 10.1" tablets in the last year.
This month, I had the Kindle Fire 8.9... which at 250 is an amazing value for a media tablet with some android compatibility. I got tired of the KF89's limitations like the accelometer, having to lock rotation, lack of compatibility, difficulty in getting a CM rom and my own decision to buy the 16gb version. I decided to get the Galaxy Note 10.1 as it was the fastest Android tablet under $400 with removable memory. I was very unhappy with it from the hour I unboxed it and decided I was done beating around the bush.
I wanted to have a no-compromise Android tablet... and today that tablet is the Nexus 10 32GB. In a few months it will be a Exnos 5 quad, or a Tegra 4 or a Qualcomm 800... but today it's the Nexus 10. And in the near (18 month) future, the N10 will stay ahead of the curve in full-size rom development. It feels good... sounds good, looks good and works well.
I would just buy the nexus 10 because of the screen size and use it to watch free/new/theater/ hd movies (I'm going to post the link to the app later in a new thread) but I dont know if the app would be compatible with the n10

I didn't originally plan to buy it. Planned on getting the Nexus 7, but once I got to staples, it just seemed to small, Saw they had the N10 but not on display, So I took a shot in the dark since had 2 weeks to return it, but once I booted it I was hooked, I love the size, still fairly portable for me, I use it A LOT more than I expected and it does so much more then I could think of, I love taking it to work and playing Playstation games on it with ease, or SNES/NES games to just sitting back watching movies via plex/netflix. The screen is amazing even at half brightness everything looks beautiful. and of couse that darn tapped out game is just perfect for the big 10inch screen..I got the 32gb since all they had, and its way more than enough for this beast. Team it up with the Moko slim fit multiangle case. I am just VERY please with this purchase
I have currently a N4, a N7 and a TF700 which I sell for a N10.
I like them all for different tasks.
The N4 is my communication hub, my music player and the hot spot for my tablets. I use it often for small tasks like web search or navigation.
The N7 is my entertainment device for commuting because I can carry it in my jacket.
The TF700 is for reading PDFs (because some of them are not scalable so it's more comfortable on a large display) and longer browsing sessions on holiday or when I work abroad. And it works excellent for watching films.
However I'll exchange it for an N10 because of the performance. It drives me nuts that it is so much slower than my other two devices and because I would like to have a device with proper fastboot support.
Was wondering if anyone could chime in. I havent seen either in person (going to staples today to see the nexus 10) and would appreciate it if anyone had any opinions.
Screen resolution and ppi- The nexus 10 obviously has a higher resolution and ppi, but side by side can you really even tell on a 10 inch tablet? I've read many reviews that have talked about how the difference between 1080p and retina/nexus 10 etc is not very noticeble at all.. Also this doesnt take into account contrast and brightness etc, if anyone can comment on the differences between the two screens Id appreciate it.
Size and feel- the Z is the thinnest and lightest 10 incher, but the nexus 10 seems to have an easier to hold back surface? I have a xperia zl smartphone and I chose this over the slightly more expensive Z bc it just felt easier to hold, even though it was thicker and had a curved back. Wondering if the same can be applied here in regards to the feel of both the Z and the N10.
Mouse- The nexus 10 can use a mouse, can the Z utilize one too? I'd like to be able to have a asus infinity transformer like setup with a bluetooth keyboard and a mouse etc for more capability when I travel, so I dont have to lug around my laptop.
Where?- I found out the N10 is only available in the retail outlets of Staples and sometimes walmart and sams club, where can I see the Z? Besides an official sony store, will it be available in any retail outlets? I have time to ponder this, as the Z just came out and cant be found for under 500.00 (for the 16g wifi) whereas the N10 has been around over 6 months and can be had used for 380 off ebay, etc.
Also not that this matters but Google should be announcing the next version of the N10 soon which will obviously trump both of these spec wise but with tech gadgets time will always bring worth a new winner.
Overall it seems the Xperia Z is for those that value the design asthetic, as well as the unique features such as the waterproof nature of it and remote control. The screen and battery are above average, but it seems its mostly about the design and thinness/weight etc.

I'm actually getting rid of my Nexus 10 and purchasing the Z (I've had the 10 since it launched). The Nexus 10 would be a great tablet but for one issue: Apparently there is a memory leak with the "surfaceflinger" process that'll periodically cause the tablet to seize up and reboot. Using Chrome and viewing videos exacerbates the problem. I finally flashed the Sentinel ROM, and it was much more stable (Chrome uninstalled, using Firefox), but it'll still regularly lock up. Note that the memory leak is in a non-open binary module of some sort, so the modding community can't really help at this point. There's a bug filed, but Google, as always, seems pretty indifferent (granted it may be a bug with the Mali graphics drivers).
Other things I have found annoying with the Nexus 10 is its lack of 3rd party accessory support, as well as its somewhat chintzy build feel--my back flexes a bit and the removable strip on the back is creaky. Next, it STILL seems that there are games that aren't really optimized for the tablet and bog down in spite of its supposedly state of the art A15 processor--I think that's slowly improving, though. Finally, the battery life isn't the best (note that I root and freeze everything I don't use).
On a positive note, the screen is sharp as a tack, and with the right launcher (I've been using Nova) it's feels plenty fast.

I've had both and been disappointed by both.
The Nexus 10 seems to be plagued with issues like that graphics bug described above and a bunch of quality assurance issues (stuff stuck between glass and screen during manufacturing and edge colour bleed).
The Xperia Tablet Z seems to be having issues with the backing coming unstuck (double-sided tape is perhaps not the most robust manufacturing material), screen flexing and watertight stoppers over ports not being sufficiently watertight.
After 5 defective tablets of 3 different species (Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and Xperia) since last November, I'm waiting for the new batch (Tegra 4 Toshiba and Nexus 7 refresh) before I try again.
If you do decide to pull the trigger on either now — Nexus 10 if you like the screen and prompt Android updates or Xperia if you value the lightness, SD card expansion and IR blaster — your best bet is to open it up in-store and test it for it's known issues right then and there so you can exchange it right away.

I believe that the screen resolution shouldn't be a problem at regular viewing distance. I actually find text more pleasing on my SO-03E versus the iPad 3 I have lying around. But obviously if you want absolute sharpness, the Nexus 10 delivers.
Do note of course that the Nexus 10's ultra high resolution means that you'll have more difficulty finding wallpapers of that resolution, and more content/apps than on any other tablet will look fuzzy and low-res. As it is I already notice most apps having screen elements showing pixellation on the XPERIA Tablet Z or iPad.
Brightness and contrast on the XPERIA Tablet Z are good, but not exceptional. I cannot give an opinion on the Nexus 10, it isn't really officially sold in my country so as much as I wanted one at the time I'd have to go out of my way to get it!

The XPERIA Tablet Z has a very nice (almost like ultra smooth, grippy leather) rear texturing - it stays in my palm even at a nearly 80 degree vertical angle. The grippy matte plastic on the back, the sheer thinness and weight of the tablet make it extremely easy for me to carry it, personally.
I have little to no qualms using it one handed, or even just carrying it around in the hand like a paper folder, as it pretty much weighs like one. The fact that it lacks rounded edges is circumvented by the thinness. Unlike the Z phone, it's much larger so you have enough space on each side to place your hands, rather than having to cup the device in your hand. It's pretty much like holding a magazine.
The tablet's rigidity is pretty impressive for me (although it can flex a tiny bit) and it feels very solid throughout. Only the buttons feel a little mushy, but otherwise build quality is sternly high on my unit. Of course I wouldn't be surprised if Japanese units have tighter quality control.

I just tried this with an OTG cable and a small wired mobile mouse, an ASUS notebook one in fact. Works a-OK, but the position of the MicroUSB port is moderately unwieldy in practice and you'll of course have to deal with the flaps.

The XPERIA Tablet Z's definitely a pricey prospect, but if you're willing to forego warranty sellers like eBay have Japanese models for cheaper, or you can even get a friend in Japan to try shipping you one. I saw some Japanese e-tailers selling it for like $150 less than expected when searching for my own. I believe the Nexus 10 is also sold direct via Google Play? Is it cheaper that way?

It'll never end, but if you're willing to wait, by all means. I was getting impatient myself and desired a lighter, attractive design with LTE (the Nexus 10 doesn't have LTE...), a MicroSD slot and water-resistance. I also prefer WUXGA (1920x1200) over WQXGA (2560x1600) because the 1920x1080 resolution is much more common (1080p video, same resolution as my desktop monitor and TV). WQXGA is mostly used only by 30" professional monitors, and rarely are there wallpapers let alone content made for it. The Sony tab's also one of the few ones around featuring the WUXGA resolution, I can only think of one other tablet and it's by Acer.
Also you'll want to note that the XPERIA Tablet Z only has the S4 Pro, which is slightly behind the Snapdragon 600, while incoming models will likely feature Snapdragon 800, or perhaps ASUS' new Infinity might interest you with its Tegra 4 chip.
The XPERIA Tablet Z's definitely at the slightly lower end of the future ready spectrum, due to; Snapdragon S4 vs Snapdragon 600 (slightly weaker CPU, but almost equal GPU), lower resolution (WUXGA vs WQXGA, but this isn't a con for me) and Android 4.1 vs 4.2 (complete with slower updates). But I was willing to compromise for what it gave in return.
I'm happy with mine, so if you can see both in person, weigh your opinions and desires. That said my XPERIA Tablet Z definitely gets some attention from people, compared to the Galaxy Note/Tabs that are increasingly commonsight.

I'm selling my Z5 Compact under MM. The decision was hard because I kinda love the fingerprint but...
The battery is a complete joke, it doesn't last a day compared to my old Z3C which is far more better in everything,
The device gets warm and hot all the time, in any application I go (I have no games and I mostly use Google apps and Telegram)

I'm going to take back my good old Z3 Compact which is far more better.

Before the MM update - yes, I felt the same. Since MM and the newest update mine has been great.
If it weren't for z3c side charging I would have never chosen the z5c. I'm holding onto mine for a bit longer until this HTC mini, s7 mini, and xiaomi mini release. Front facing speakers are keeping me from downgrading back to a mini Samsung for the time being.
And as far as battery life and heat issues I'm right on the same page. I've adapted to it for now by quick charging at lunch time to get me through the work day and clipping phone to me so I'm not burning myself in my pocket.
I am thinking about doing that too, but there are 2 things that keeping me from that, fingerprint sensor and camera! I don't know what to do, wait for S7 Mini,go for S7, wait for SONY to maybe fix issues of this phone or what else?
I think if only this phone had 3GBs of RAM we had no problem or even SONY used good old Snapdragon 801!

I am quite happy with the phones performance and battery life since MM, but I have now preordered the HTC10 and my neighbour is already waiting to buy the Z5C from me. If the HTC10 is as good as I beleive it is, I can overlook the fakt that I hate big phones in this case. Ive been a very happy HTC owner since the HD2 and lastly the M7. The Z5C is a great phone to me, but it will never be more than that. HTC usually managed to float my boat just that tiny bit better than the other brands

I used to be a big HTC fan until they went to the one series. They are supposedly bring an h10 mini out with flagship specs this year. Hopefully they don't disappoint like the last two minis, I want to go HTC again.

you know the HTC 10 has not stereo speakers anymore? only dual speakers one (lower) for bass and for top on high pitch
Z5C is kind the same thing BUT! still stereo , Z5C top speaker wave range of 150hz-22050KHz and bottom speaker is 500HZ-22050Khz (less bass)

Dude, I dont care about that stuff. If I want to listen to music I get me a proper stereo and speakers or headphones. Any cellphone speaker sounds horrible.
What kind of personality disorders do people have these days to need a stabilized photosensor for selfies? Is a look in the mirror in the morning not good enough anymore? Million megapixels cellphone cameras still make crappy pictures in comparison to any 100€ camera Ive gotten my hands on.
Marketing makes us beleive that we need so many things in our cellphones, but in the end they usualy cant to one thing great.
I bought the Z5C because it was the only product available that offered highclass specs in a small phone. I dont like the design of it, the picture quality, speaker sound quality, sony customizations...you name it. Its a good phone for what it is. A phone. Snappy performance and 2 days on a charge make me a happy user.
The HTC10 is not compact, which I am not happy about, but it has a beautiful design and HTC Sense. Apparently it also has better sound quality if you connect good headphones to it and I like to listen to music with the best possible quality. This is an archievable goal in a phone btw...dslr picture quality isnt!
If someone builds a phone with the size of the Z5C (or even smaller), 1080p resolution, aluminium body/looks like the HTC One series, happily dumps the selfy camera and top-spec hardware, but little to no changes to stock android, then I buy that phone in a heartbeat.
The complete contrast for me is Samsung now. Make it huge, put useless features on it and customize it to the max. Full throttle marketing bull**** in my mind, but people seem to love it.

yup also one of the reason i bought this phone because its small, my previous phone was 3.5" sony with walkman WT19 , so even this one abit big for me, lol..
im mostly disappointed of
1.camera lens (plastic) can scartch easly and can ruin the shots
2.photos are noisy\blurry even with good light ,
3.phone heating fast, (even low end apps or, even 4G signal; if high end apps like asphalt 8 in 2mins its 50c\120F)
4.when phone get hotter it become slower ,
5.speakers are uneven and weak , loudspeaker awful, my previous phone was 4times louder didnt need it use of bluetooth in car, now i need...
6.didnt came with quickcharge QC adapter
7.didnt came with in-ear headphones
8.update the phone to MM make it worse battery and lags,camera*, didnt upgrade it yet*
still pretty fast phone with nice battery but not worth the price (mine cost about 800 US$ when i bought it)
My only problems with the phone are:
some hick-ups during normal operations
overheating
average camera
poor system customization options
Otherwise the phone is perfect. The battery is great, I've recently lasted two days (~10% when going to sleep on the 2nd day) with automatic brightness and 24h sync with mobile data, some sms and a few calls, I even played some Hearthstone on a bus. The battery seems to have problems on certain units.

I think as far as hardware is concerned, the Tab S3 is fairly decent but when it comes to Android, I'm not so sure.
Speaking honestly and realistically, is the Tab S3 an equally good professional (well-rounded) tablet as an iPad Pro or is the Apple product a more polished solution? (Because lets face it, Apple has dominated the tablet market and continues to make improvements in that space to point where I personally feel that their products offer a very polished user experience, to the point of possibly being good enough to replace a notebook)
I had the 9.7 iPad pro for a while. The main thing I didn't like was that there was no resistance between the pencil and the screen. It was just too slippery to feel "right" as a note taker, which is one of my primary uses of a tablet. The S-Pen feels better with the rubber tip giving a little drag. I also didn't like the lack of a file manager,but that looks to be coming in iOS 11. I don't have the keyboard case for my S3 yet, so I can't comment on that. As always, there are a couple apps I can't get on Android, but others I can now that I'm on Android. I like the physical feel of the S3 better, but that's very subjective. I haven't done much with using Flow with my phone yet, that seems interesting also.

I have an Ipad Pro 9.7 and 10.5 and love them. Decided to get the Galaxy Tab S3 just to play with it at work and see how it compares to the iPad. Let's just say it feels like coming from a Ferrari and getting into a Yugo (no offense to Yugo lovers, i'm sure it gets great gas mileage). The galaxy Tab feels sooo slowww compared to the Apple Tablets. If you're looking for speed and ease of use i'd say get the Ipad. I doubt you'll be disappointed. The Galaxy feels so slow switching profiles and starting apps that i don't even use it beside for some gaming since I can play my many clash camps on one tablet ... Now ipad Pro 10.5, there's the winner here for screen responsiveness... but price still too high... but it's the best notebook replacement... no lag whatsoever... a speed daemon...
It can be very difficult to compare two tabs of different OS. At the end of the day, it is a question whether what you are more comfortable with? If you don't mind a closed ecosystem, then iOS would be suitable, but if you like more customization and want an open ecosystem, then Android would be the one.

The battery life might not be as good, and the speed isn't as fast as the iPad pro, but I also couldn't justify spending $649 for the tablet, $100 for the pen and another $150 for the keyboard. I got my Tab s3 for $449 and got the keyboard case for $65. The battery life gets me through the day. The most screen on time I've gotten is 9 hours, which is good enough for me. It might be slower than the iPad pro, but it's not a snail.

Workflow dependent. Both are good, neither is a laptop replacement.
I haven't noticed a major difference in speed, Samsung screen is nicer. I also prefer the Samsung keyboard. IOS is improving at a great clip.
I had the og iPad Pro 9.7 and sold it within a week. Probably better hardware but I didn't like iOS or the rechargeable pen at all.
The BIGGEST issue for me: the wat the iPad Pro handles split screen. The S3 splits left/right in horizontal and top/bottom in portrait. The iPad also splits left/right when held horizontal but if holding it portrait, it also splits the screen left/right - which is pretty much useless. I could go for either of these tablets if I only needed to multitask when holding the tablet horizontally, but if I ever wated to multitask holding the tablet upright, the S3 is the only way to go.
Not sure why Apple hasn't fixed this. When I prepare for a class, I can hold the tablet horizontally (read on one side, write on the other) or upright (read on top, write on bottom). The Apple left/right split when holding it upright requires scrolling to continue to write (I use typical 8.5x11 dimensions in the event I want to print my hand written notes.
Also prefer a pen that doesn't cost $100 extra that has to be charged from the bottom of the iPad (risking snapping it off if I mishandle it).
If Apple would fix at least the way they split screen, I would consider buying one and overlook the pen issue.
I eventually bought both the iPad 10.5 and the S3 but ended up using the S3 more frequently. The 120Hz True tone display on the iPad is great but the AMOLED display on the S3 is still an absolute pleasure to use with vibrant and crisp image quality. They each have their strengths but you can't really go wrong with the S3.
The 4 speaker setup on the S3 sounds very good and I like that the surround audio is adjusted depending on the orientation of the tablet but the audio quality isn't quite as good as the iPad Pro 10.5 which has a slightly deeper sound with better bass.
I like that I can make calls and send SMS's as well as use WhatsApp on the S3. You can't do that with an iPad!
And the pen is great! I'm not an artist but just navigating the interface with the pen is a good experience as is the fact that the pen doesn't need to be charged like the Apple pencil.
Performance is decent as well. I haven't experienced any major lag and everything that I do with the tablet is fast and fluid, though I do run maintenance cleanups and reboot once in a while and I don't install a lot of unnecessary apps.
I get about a 1-2 days of battery life with around 9h SOT depending on how much I use the tablet and what I'm using it for. Obviously media and gaming consumes more battery while web surfing, email and document editing is fairly light on battery.
