Hi all, I own an s3 Since it was first released, i have experienced many roms over the time and I'd like to learn more about android and its Development. I know java programming and have a minimal experience with linux.
Are there any books or online articles you recommend reading in order to learn the basics?
Thanks in advance,
Ido.
Edit: Please move to the right forum.. Sorry.

I'd like to start writing code for Android games.
I spend most of my free time on XDA, updating my Sensation and reading about the latest Android development. Figure I'd learn how to program, maybe start a future career as a programmer.
Any ideas how to start?

I need some work done....SIMPLE coding work for Android. I would like to explore the notion of making it cross platform to iPhone too. Here is the thing... I am new at Android programming.
I was using Eclipse and found out you could create apps with Adobe Dreamweaver. I started using it as my app is 100% web based and have MOST of it finished. I don't know how to integrate Facebook and Twitter feeds the way I would like. I also have some general questions.
Any idea on where to go to find coders for hire or someone that would help me via teamviewer or something similar? Thanks in advance.
Anyone? Maybe? Thank you.
One final bump.....

I already have certain posts open regarding the same. I am a freelance application developer and would like to hear more about the assignment you need done.

Thanks for the reply, DROIDRAZ.
The thing is i am not too keen on learning java at the moment. That would consume so much time.
I think something like livecode would be a good solution for my current situation.
So before i go and purchase livecode is there anything else like it that you guys may recommend?
I've learn quite a few from newboston YouTube video, as well as from Stackoverflow.
And we have our own forum user creating easy tutorials with explanation for us ->

Hey, sorry if this is in the wrong thread!
I was just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to some brilliant beginners tutorials for developing?
I just can't make heads or tales of how to do stuff, because I can't find a good basis to start on.
Thanks!
Hi
The best thing to do is learn Java. Google Java tutorial and then take your pick from the many thousands that shall appear.
Once you've learned Java then you can go to the android developer site and begin to learn all about how android apps are made.

Thanks for the advice. Got any tips on where I can find good tutorials? The ones I'm finding aren't really tutorials, but more just telling you about programming terminology.

There are many sites on the internet to learn, I am using codecademy, but i would like a recommendation of the experts about methods, pages, or other thread where you have dealt with this topic or similar.
I'll not ask again, I am self-taught and excuse my English.
Thank you.

Welcome to XDA! For app development I would recommend checking out Google's official tutorial on building your first app https://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/index.html. Google also has a free Udacity course for learning Android app development which can be found here https://www.udacity.com/courses/android. As far as ROM development I would suggest taking a look at Google's building Android from source guide here https://source.android.com/source/initializing.html. Let me know if you have any other questions !
