Hey all.
I have a Stock Verizon Galaxy S4 on 4.4.2 (NC5), rooted. I want to customize some simple (minor annoyance) things on my phone.
Using a custom ROM is not an option for me (unfortunately), but using the Xposed Framework let me get around that (mostly). I had been using Nottach Xposed and it covered pretty much every one of my needs (I use my headphone jack in the car, so I hate the "safe listening volume" popup; I don't need to be notified how airplane mode works every time; I want to tag every app as being a possible "multi-window" app, etc).
With 4.4.2, Nottach Xposed doesn't work, and when I went looking for updates I found the long Nottach saga and have since despaired of ever getting an update for that (plus, it was technically for the AT&T phone).
Is there something else that will give me similar functionality? Again, I can't safestrap into a custom ROM; I have to be on (Verizon) "stock".
Thanks in advance
You might give wanam Xposed a try, I've used both and I am currently running wanam on my 4.4.2 rom.

Hi guys..
Sorry for wasting your time again..
Got a few question, jsut flashed my phone to gingerbread stock verizon..
I would actually want to ask what can i do to my phone after i root it?. i mean what will be the changes, cause i really can't understand the advantages of being rooted. they said there will be more options.
but what are those option?.. you mean i can download more apps in android market?.. am i right?..
also i have a question about the place where can we download full version apps games, i was informed about blackmart.. is that safe?..
also about the droidwall, someone told me if i rooted my phone, i can get that, and it seems to be very usefull to what she said..
Thankyou for responding to my question.
appreciate it so much..
also wants to confirm if verizon fascinate really doesn't have front camera cause im having hard time using the yahoo messenger video call only black screen
More Power Guys!!!
Rooting gives you the ability to modify your file systems, install custom roms, as well as apps that could not normally be installed on your phone. There is no front facing camera on your phone. You really need to ditch the gingerbread you ate using noe and follow the guide to get any of the android 4.0 roms that are on the site. You will understand why rooting is so nice when you are able to use one of those roms. You can install droidwall once you are rooted. If you are looking for free apps on the internet other than the play market, try using Google, it really works.

Rooting will allow you to do more to and with your phone than was intended. First and foremost for me it was being able to remove Verizon bloatware. You can install Custom Roms either Gingerbread or ICS, make tweaks to the phone that will make it run more effective and efficient. Either way, if you are going to root, the next thing you should learn about is making a Nandroid backup. This way you can always go back to where you were when you first started and then do it all over again to your liking. Have fun.
I too wanted to get rid of the bloatware. By putting on a ROM like Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) on my phone I don't feel the need to upgrade. The developer activity is very good on this phone so the performance of the roms is great.
Hopefully someone a bit more educated than me can help me sort something out. My S4 is rooted and running the latest version of Safestrap since I was dumb enough to take the ME7 update. I also own a 2013 Ram Sport with the UConnect RA3 radio, which I have just updated to the most recent software version.
Prior to the update of the UConnect system, the text messaging features wouldn't work for me, even on my stock ROM. After the update, all of the messaging features worked with stock and while running Hyperdrive 9.1.
I just flashed GoogleEdition 6.0 last night along with the ME7 modules zip necessary for safestrap. Everything is pairing with my UConnect system, except for some reason the messaging function stays grayed out (like it did before I updated the Radio). Am I incorrect in my assumption that all of the bluetooth drivers are identical since I'm running the same Kernel and I flashed the modules zip? Could it be just because the Radio "thinks" its connected to a play store S4, which at the moment isn't fully compatible? Can I "trick" the radio into thinking its a stock Verizon S4?
Any input or suggestions would be very much appreciated. The messaging features are great and I was thrilled to have them working in the truck, and GE 6.0 is something I really want to keep running, so I really want to get it figured out. Thanks!
One bump hoping someone can possibly chime in with SOMETHING that might explain what would cause this to occur.

i get strange errors with google edition rom ports and safestrap. id suggest to get a 4.2.2 touch wiz rom.
It's working fine for me honestly...I wouldn't call it an error. It almost seems like if touchwiz isn't on there, the UConnect system thinks it's a different phone. I just don't know if it's getting that info from the drivers, or maybe the build.prop. It pairs and all the features work except for the messaging through the truck.

I see them for KitKat and before, but not for Lollipop. I have had some success using the KitKat ones, but Id like to get rid of stuff like Kids' mode. I have searched, but only found scripts for older Android versions. Any help would be appreciated.

OC5 is still fairly new and no one has released a custom ROM as of yet. There are a few apps that work with OC5 but none that do what you're asking for. I'd give it some time, we all hate the bloatware that comes installed on these devices.
I've been using this one, which works well enough for now.

I use 2 different methods. One is I use titanium backup to manually go in and freeze apps. I don't uninstall simply in case I run into an issuse. Then I use Nova launcher to hide any apps I can't freeze without causing issues.
Has always worked for me. At the very least u can just diable most of them right from the app drawer.
My apologies if this is the wrong spot, this seems like the best fit since it is not specific to any one Custom ROM...
My latest phone came with a feature to ding once the battery was charged 100%. I must have removed it's APK when I was debloating because I cannot find the stock option anymore.
I managed to get it back, via GravityBox, but now I want to have the same feature on my older device. It has a custom ROM on it, CarbonROM, that I am not afraid of building and flashing a different (yet still highly-customizable) ROM in it's place if need be.
Without blindly building and flashing ROM's looking for this feature (and Google search only turns up apps that I have tried and didn't like[1]), are there any custom ROM's that have this feature?
Many thanks for your input.
[1] One rang constantly, which I don't want. I am just looking for a simple ding (points go to having the feature being able to select the sound used). The other had ads (and no paid version), was bloaty, and the toast function (which I don't need) crashed. I could use GravityBox over there as well, but you are not supposed to use it on a custom ROM anyway (not that it has stopped me from running it on OptimusUI for my main device ). I should add that having an app, sort of ruins it for me because it's something so simple that it just takes up one more spot on the app drawer.
Hey S4 owners who still have the MDK bootloader, what ROMs are currently considered the best for our aging devices? I'm still on an old build of the GPE ROM (5.0.1 base).
I'm looking for something that's stable (ie. no issues with 4G/3G/1x, sms/mms, calling, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, compass, wifi hotspot, cameras, video recording, video playback, no random reboots, not buggy, etc, etc, etc)
I'm also looking for a ROM that runs Xposed flawlessly, and don't conflict with the following modules (listed in order of importance): Snapprefs, GravityBox, Xinsta, One Tap Video Download, YouTube AdAway, and a couple mock location modules.
I don't know if I'll be able to get by with a ROM that uses systemless root either. I think I use a few apps that require the ability to manipulate the system folder, but I'm not entirely sure. I know I use a couple that need to be made system apps...
Beyond that, I just need something that'll be able to handle a lot of apps (I'm kinda a power user) without lagging like crazy and preferably without destroying my battery.
Anyone have any pointers? What ROMs should look at?
