Hey all,
This is on my SGP511. To get root access recently, I downgraded to an earlier version of android. Then I used EasyRoot to get root access, backed up TA, then installed XZDualrecovery, supersu, busybox, Nandroid backup, and installed the newest firmware with root.
During downgrade of android, I noticed that Play store didnt work and so I thought it would fix on it's own after I installed the latest firmware. I have also noticed Gmail does not work as well, but I do have internet connection. I tried different fixes, culminating in a factory reset.
Even after factory reset, I dont have connection to Gmail and Play Store. I dont know what to do now to get it working.

First off, I would do the following;
1. Check your Google account in "Settings" and ensure it is properly configured. You could probably Delete that account, then add it again.
2. Or, you can delete your cach in the apps themselves. Go to "Settings/Apps", select the app, and delete the cach and/or data.
Then try it.
If the App isn't listed in Settings/Apps, then it needs to be installed. If you are trying the apps while on a 3g internet connection, it may not work (connect). This happens sometimes even with me.

after rooting my phone and removing what i wanted, i used root explorer to install some apps but the phone kept FC, now after using seus to restore my firmware when i go to the market it comes up STARTING DOWNLOAD but nothing is happening, can anybody help or is there a way to wipe everything then install with the official firmware?
make sure you havent removed google talk. market needs it
Hello. When using the Marketplace app, everything works, except when I try to load "My Apps". I get a completely blank page. Nothing there. I have 50+ apps installed through the market that I now cannot update.
I load the marketplace, hit the menu, select my apps, nothing.
I have uninstalled the Market update, and when I try to load my apps on the old version of the market app, it tells me a server error has occurred, and asks me to retry. I can connect and use the market on my PC and on the phone's browser.
I am running stock 2.3.4, rooted only. I have unrooted. I have tried clearing the cache and data, uninstalling the update, I have reset the phone(cleared data), and used RSD to SBF 2.3.4. I have tried switching DNS servers, both wifi and 3G. ANY help or suggestions are welcome.
How can I completely clear the phone and reset to factory new condition?
SBFing is best factory reset but you could SBF back to Froyo then try updating from there. Also make sure you can view your apps in the market using the web interface, it could very well be an issue on their side.
I think it is a problem with a backed up file. I logged in with another Gmail account and I am able to access my apps. SO I guess I am going to try and SBF, then tell Google NOT to restore, as well as the backup assistant. See if that works...
Good idea, don't restore anything just sign in you could very well be on to something. Let me know how it works out. Also if it does work and you want to find out what went wrong try restoring one thing at a time, after each time check to see if you can still see your apps.
Did you try to clear cache for the market app?

The Market works perfectly if I use any other account except the one with my apps. Can I have installed too many apps? I know quite a few are not showing up on the market web site, Titanium for example...
I have the same problem. When i try to look at my apps it says something along the lines of applications and games owed by this account will appear here and it doesn't show any of my apps. I sbf'd from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4, deleted and reinstalled the market, cleared data and cache, all that. But I can access my apps on the website so I think its just a market problem

My android is causing some problems. I am planning to factory restore my phone.
I have a few questions...
I have purchased lots of apps from Google play store. I do not want all the apps to be downloaded. How can I prevent all apps from getting downloaded to my phone?
There is a firmware upgrade waiting to be installed right now. is it possible to delete the firmware? I do not want to put that on my phone....
Re-downloading Apps
It has been my experience that only those apps that were actually installed on the phone are automatically re-downloaded. So, you could go to Settings, Apps, ALL, and uninstall those apps that you don't want to be downloaded after you restore. It might also be good to reboot after uninstalling, and before restoring.

How about purchased apps? I do not have any purchased apps installed on my phone (just purchased). I do not want them to be downloaded.
I have unlocked the bootloader of my new AT&T HTC One 64 GB, installed CWM and rooted.
When I started my phone, google play stated that there were updates to a lot of apps (like Chrome, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon kindle etc) which are all system apps. So I went ahead, updated them. Then as usual, I went to titanium backup and integrated the updates into rom/system. I cleaned Dalvik and cahce. When I restarted, google play said again that the same apps are out of date and wanted to re-update them. And sure enough when I checked versions on them, they were the old ones.
So decided to go the "make these system apps normal apps" e.g. move them out of the rom to data, update, move them back to system app directory. Same problem here, after a restart old versions in the rom showed up again.
Then I decided to un-install the apps. When I un-install them through titanium backup, after a restart they are back.
Like a bad nightmare.... Any ideas?

Same for me :
My ATT HTC One is unlocked and rooted already with CWM no-touch installed.
I installed ES File explorer as well as Titanium Backup Pro and gave both root privileges when they asked for them via Super SU
I can "Uninstall", via titanium backup, all the bloatware apps but when I reboot they come back.
Similarly, through ES File explorer I run the root explorer section and choose to uninstall system apps. I then successfully remove the bloatware, but it again comes back upon reboot.
Are there any other methods I can try or any successful bloatware removals for the One from anybody here? Is it a matter, as another thread about the Incredible suggested, a matter of the kernel not allowing writes to the /system while running? If so, how do I remove bloatware from Recovery?
Thanks!
any we need a kernel that allowed writing to the /system to stop this htc added some new code
It's because the kernel does not allow the /system partition to be modified. You need to flash a kernel that has the security disabled. I'm running the Renovate rom from the Intl One forums and that kernel has security disabled and works fine on the AT&T version
Hi all, my SM-G9280 still cannot log into Snapchat. I've rooted the phone (since it doesn't come with Google Play Services). The android vers is 6.0.1 and Baseband is G9280ZCU2BPK1.
My phone is Chinese so it does not come with Google Play Services, and I have to root to get it.
I've tried :
1) RootCloak + Cydia Substrate. Doesn't work for some reason.
2) Xposed + Root Cloak. Installing the xposed framework crashes my phone and causes a bootloop. Recoverable by flashing the stock ROM and resetting phone though.
(EDIT: Xposed + Root Cloak does work now, I've added Snapchat to the list of root-hide apps, but it still does not allow me to log into Snapchat.)
3) Unrooting and Rerooting. Unrooting removes Google Play Services along with the root and Snapchat does not work if Google Play Services is not present.
I would try Titanium Backup with Snapchat except I don't have a second android device avaliable.
Is there any other solutions that I can do to log into Snapchat?
Can someone help me? Please?
Bump, can someone please help me?
Bumped again... Please someone help me with this issue.
First off why would removing root remove Google play services? This is not how this works. From the looks of it you have a china based device that didn't come with Google stuff installed. Take care of that first. Then root after.
Yeah, I have to root in order to get Google stuff.
As far as I know for my device there is no way to get Google Play Services other than rooting.

Well then I would root get the Google stuff and unroot. As they are not connected you should be able to pull it off.
I tried that. But as soon as I unroot Google Play Services dissapears and when I unroot using SuperSU it causes a bootloop, which is solvable by flashing the custom ROM,
So that doesn't work. Or am I doing something wrong with the unrooting process?

You are doing something wrong along the way. If you have a custom rom then you should have a custom recovery as well. At That point all you have to do is flash the rom and a gapps package. Dont flash any root apps. If they are built into the rom then that may be a bit harder to deal with.
I don't have a custom rom...
The way I got Google Play Services and Google Play to work is I rooted, then used a third-party app (Not OpenGApps) to install Google Play Services, the framework, and everything else.
I still have my stock rom, it's just rooted and has google play services that's all.
The fix is easy. Just grab another phone that is rooted but without Xposed Framework, you install SC and login. After login do a backup of the app with Titanium backup then move the backup to you Note 5/Galaxy s6+ and do a restore of the app's data (data has log in token). That's all ?
Now, if you don't own another phone then you have have to install stock ROM, then log in to your SC using the stock ROM without any modding (rooting) yet. After login root the phone and do a backup with Titanium backup. You can restore your Login data anytime after doing the backup. That's all.
I think that the problem with the log in may be because of the Knox counter in the ROM being triggered. Hope it's works for you. I use this exact method to fix the log in issue.

Read the OP.
I don't have another phone to do Titanium Backup.
When I install Stock ROM, Google Play Services and Framework is not installed therefore Snapchat doesn't work.
Would clearing EVERYTHING, then flashing Stock ROM, then getting OpenGApps help? Because if so then I can do that except i do not know how to setup OpenGApps...
Okay, so I got TWRP then flashed TWRP, then got OpenGApps to get Google Play Services.
I then unrooted but it took away Google Play Services and everything as well. I can't login to Snapchat.
Am I still doing something wrong here?
Bump, posted this on a couple of other forums and no one has replied with a solution
Someone help solve please
Bump.
Bump, I've been able to somehow install Xposed and root cloak. I've added Snapchat to the list to hide the root from the app, but it still won't let me log in.
Bump.
