Other versions of the firmware when also passed via ODIN cause black screen on the device ... I believe I have some hardware changes in the apparatus , for models after July 2014 .

I can confirm this. A friend gave me his I8552B to flash a new rom, but it needed a custom recovery. Tried to flash a lot of CWMs available, but none gave anything different than a black screen. :S
I thought MAYBE I should flash a PIT file but I'm thinking this has nothing to do with the issue.

Sorry, maybe I explained it wrong: I keep getting a black recovery screen, neither CWM or Stock Recovery shows up. Still, the phone boots to download mode or the rom and works properly.

messed up phone

My sister asked me to root her phone and install a custom rom. I have the same virgin mobile optimus v. I rooted with gingerbreak and restarted, and root check said we had root. I used rom tools to install the rom, but now the phone is stuck at the virgin mobile logo and doesn't go any further. I tried going into the recovery but just get a lighted screen.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

which is suppose the country code is ASEABK @@
I think what the problem is...is that I flashed a old clockwork recovery that doesn't have the new VM670 display drivers...in sense the kernel is for the older VM's...anyway to update the recovery without getting into recovery or consol?

Do you see the blackscreen after the samsung logo?
I had that too! My luck was CWM. I installed it before and could get into it.
Then I had to restore an old backup.

Mine were all black screen but when I plugged into the PC, I would get it recognized as SEC-S5.... (can't recall the exact driver it was looking for). So mine was semi recognized. Now, if you are telling me that your PC does not recognize it at all, I am not sure what to tell you.

OK so I rooted it using the kingroot method and it was fine for about two weeks. I was waiting for cwm or twrp to come out for it when I saw a link on google sayinhtwrp had updated. I tried installing twrp with ROM manager and nothing happened so I decided to leave it alone. But later on when I did a power cycle it got stuck on the boot logo and has been that way since.
