i have samsung galaxy s3 clone . it was bought in china .. i dont know who made it ..
it is mtk6575 based device .. with 2 sims .. one micro .. and one min which was hidden .. with dummy sim and plastic cover .. and its 4.7 inches display .. its 800 X 480 resolution.. ram is 512mb .. total rom is 4gb (dont konw how to tell what it realy is . but i think this figure is correct ) internal sd card is 2 GB ..

here is some more info i gathered ..
regarding teh build number i pressed the volume up home and power key simultaneously for few seconds and then left i was given a blank screen .. then i pressed a voluume up key and got a factory mode screen .. there in the version sub menu .. there are a lot of details ..

it has few issues ..[except rooting all is stock as of now]
1: GPS not working Working after new rom, but weak signals [edit date : 9th january 2012] :good:
i cannot make the gps locked onto satellites .. i have tried a lot of gps softwares like ulysse and others.. but even after hours of being under open sky i wasnt able to get it locked .. i used the agps and the epo .. still no luck .. using the EngineeringMode and going to ygps i could only lock it onto 5 satellites .. but its signal was very weak .. it quickly lost that .. so is tehre any solution ? also i tried it under open sky and also tried it on samsung galaxy mini and had no issue in locking onto sattellite ..
2: Camera not taking pics in full resolution now its natively taking pics in 8MP and quality is also improved . but other apps still show image inverted in viewfinder . only UCAM shows correct orientation. [edit date : 9th january 2012] :good:
it has 8 MP camera but android is only taking pics in 5 MP and i cant seem to find any settings for setting it to take pics in 8mp. i have tried another app Camera FV-5 and was able to take pics in 8 MP .. but that app and all other apps that i tried gives me the inverted viewfinder and i couldnt find a way to correct that ..
3: Compass showing wrong direction still showing wrong orientation . [edit date : 9th january 2012] :crying:
when i use compass app it shows wrong orientation .. it shows east as west and west as east .. i have checked it in open space and my other phone samsung galaxy mini had no issue in telling me the direction ..
4: SD Card Size is shown highly inflated: see pics .. the last 2 are from link2sd now all the sizes are shown correcty after update of new rom [edit date : 9th january 2012] :good:
sd card size is wrongly reported .. very inflated size is shown .. in this circumstances the internal sd card /builtin sd card is 2gb .. and external sd card is having 2 partitions one is 2gb other is approx 12gb. as correctly shown by link2sd (pics given below) and many other apps... though the card is ok .. tested on my pc .. its original sandisk card . and works ok on other original sets .. i.e. its shown correct size there .. also correct size is shown on pc ..
also other softwares on this set report its size correctly.. like link2sd and other system info tools..
5: Only one IMEI is shown. well still i have only one imei . but no issue due to it .. [edit date : 9th january 2012]
originaly this set had one micro sim slot . but on probing the sticker i found anothe mini sim slot .. and i removed the plastic wrapper a bit and inserted another sim .. and now my phone is double sim.. both sims are working .. i havent checked them thoroughly .. but i can recieve sms and ring on these sims .. no issue . but when i enter *#06# only one imei is shown .. ? why shouldnt it display 2 ? also when i enter factory mode it shows both imeis .. Strange .. anomaly..
6: No Google Talk present. though i have google play i got it working .. [edit date : 9th january 2012] :good:
it lacks google talk . though it has google play. i also need gtalk on it.
7: Is it realy MT6575 as shown by various softwares etc or is it MT6515 stil dont know . but it should be mt6575 ? [edit date : 9th january 2012]
many fellows here bricked their similar mt6575 devices and in the proces of resurecting it they found it to be mt6515 not mt6575 as intialy shown to them .. so how can i tell which is mine in reality apart from prying it open. i am currently using it on GSM network. in the process of installing CWM i used Scatter file of MT6575 . also when i used mtkdroid tools 2.3 to take backup .. i then used MTK Rom Studio to build the scatter file from the firmware.info file generated by the MTK droid .. when i saved the file created by MTK studio it automatically named it as scatter file for mt6515 .. strange ? that makes me suspicious. i am attaching my generated scatter file . it is same as that of mt6575 .

i have exactly the same issue , i have try also GPS fix and doesn't work.
the bluetooth also doesn't work on my, have you the same issue ?
I have one problem on my side:
i have remove samsung apps from the sys ( it's was the chinese version of the apps) and forgot to made a backup and install the samsung apps (french version) on the SD card but now when i restart the system, I have an error message that "the lockscreen is invalid".
I can use all other thinks execpt of the phone and SMS.
what can i do ?
reflash it with the original ROM ??

also camera issue is still there ..
one more issue my phone is double sim physically ... but in the dialer when i enter *#06# i just get one imei .. not two .. but both of my sims are working i can recieve sms on them .. though i have not tried outgoing calls on them ..

As for your SD card showing the wrong size, try -- assuming your phone doesn't use MTP -- to format it in Windows. Connect mass storage as usual, then go to 'my computer' on your computer and format the drive.
is it necessary to do it this way?
but when i remove the card and place it on any device i get correct size . moreover putting an ok sd card in this set shows its size wringing
Long and short the card is ok and perfect but phone is reporting it wrong

About the card showing the wrong size, i think it is about Chinese modification. They jinx the phone to make the storage look larger. I got one of this kind too.
The internal storage is only 2GB but it shows 16GB. When I put 8GB SD Card, it shows that i've 64GB. So I guess they did modify settings.apk make it multiply by 8.
I'm trying to find the cultpit but no luck right now. I would like to make it show correctly too. If you find one, please lets me know.
O yes.but someone who has done some kernel work will be able to correct it.
What device you have? And what is the camera resolution ? Does it takes pics with that resolution?

when u take pic .. go to gallery and the press menu and details .. what it shows in width hight and file size ?
khankll you're right about the picture. I just check the resolution and it is only 5MP.
About the camera, try to use "UCam" it does take the photo in 8MP and have Revised View. So you can make the correction of the reverse image.
Thought that doesn't help much since the real camera's hardware is 5MP CMOS and 8MP is interpolate by driver. I did compare 8MP and 5MP picture. It not much different.
About the GPS, try A-GPS and then turn off the data. It will help alot.

i have exactly the same issues but also the bluetooth doesn't work.
the resolution of the picture is 2800x1600 the size is 540Ko (4Mo instead of 8Mo)
for the backup, you need to enter in recovery mode (power+vol down )
and choose backup user data.(recovery.jpg)
validate with option button
start the backup with home button.(backup.jpg)
a file will be created on the SD card called userdata_date of the day_some number.backup(backup2.jpg)
its take around 10 min
it's this file that i need.

Ok i will do that in the evening.but i have a concern as its been my primary device so it has lots of personal data like account passwords phone numbers messages emails etc so will that also be copied over there? How to ensure my privacy.
Also i do not have stock recovery . I have cwm. So will that also create backup? Heard cwm doesn't works with stock roms .
Oh my boot logo does says Samsung but it also has mediatek logo in the very beginning .
Also do u ppl face the card size issue?

Maybe i posted this in the wrong thread, due to my questions, i will try here..
I thought after reading and reading on inet...Gone try here to get a little bit further with a simple but brand new tablet i got from my mother.
That's also the reason why i don't throw it away, i thought lets see if there is a possibility to make it run better then with the stockrom.
And if there is no solution to flash it, what is the best way to backup the rockchip 3168 with 4.2.2 rom off the tablet itself?
Also to try other roms, i don't wane lose my bootloader etc.
Its a new tablet, but the hardware is older and because of that i thought lets see if i can get it maybe a little bit upgraded on the software side.
And if not, maybe another solution.
Therefore i searched a lot, but has anyone....Anyone maybe a direction to look for a maybe better rom.Also with cwm there is nothing what works with this chip, everything based on the maligpu400 or maybe also with the powerVr Sgx 540?
Other solution would be to backup the rom, and clean afterwards the stock rom.But i got stuck in how and what is the best way to do that.
I cant install Cwm recovery, when it installs it doesn't continue.
I also read that people lost their original bootloader, and because i cant find the stockrom online...What would be the best way to do that, i saw the app mtk, and the Rockchip tool but that seemed a lot off work and if i mess up my backup would never work.
Or is it the only way to back up this rom from Rockchip, a full backup kerel, loader etc..
And to try out a rom, install from sd card, and to get back on the stockrom a factory reset is all, or mess i up the recovery installing another rom?
If more info is needed about the chips, let me know.

Anyone had any luck rooting this phone? I've had updates, so mtk-su didn't work when I tried it, but I'm anxious to know if it works on a clean factory install.

I'll have to factory reset to get a stock dump for you, I might have time to pull it off tomorrow if you really need it, I've been wanting to try it anyway to see if mtk-su will work before any updates come through
And no, it says unrecognized command when I execute the flashing unlock command
i just have a tablet p.c so I couldn't get python and mtkclient to work for some reason, but after reading some more, nck-dongle and some other box dongle s offer the boatloader unlock. get the boot.img flash magisk - unlock boatloader for mt8762 ? right
mtk-su isn't going to work I tried it, it was patched after 2019 on most phones
those are 50 bucks and up, there's a slew of dongles on the market, theres a couple other no-box mtk boatloader unlock tools I'm looking for, if they don't work the phone is patched and won't unlock
