Hi,
I am becoming somewhat irritated with the notifications on my Gear S, but only for S Health.
I want to receive alerts to my step count and if I have been inactive for too long.
What bugs me are the constant reminders to "tap here to unlock S Health and start using S Health widgets, or to receive S Health data from your Gear".
I receive those up to 50+ times per day! Especially if I walk too far away from my phone and BT disconnects and reconnects when I return.
Any tips on how to change settings either on Gear S or my Note 3?
My gear is systematically training me to ignore all notifications! Any input is greatly appreciated.

I am very happy with my Gear S so far, only one ting is bothering me:
I don't receive any SMS Notifications on my Gear S (when paired by bluetooth to my phone), as a matter of fact I am not able to check the stock program "Messages" in the Notifications of Gear Manager, it just isn't there. Anyone has similar problems or a solution? Thank you!
Every time I thought something was not working right on my Gear S, it turned out to be user error
I almost brought mine back to T-Mobile because of that!
I assume you are in the US and have separate SIM cards for watch and Samsung phone? For that matter, I assume you have a compatible Samsung phone connected to Gear S?
If yes, here is how I set up my settings:
In Gear app on phone:
Notifications - manage notifications - make sure messages are enabled (along with all other apps you want to see notifications for, but I suggest to limit those, don't pick everything, the watch starts buzzing all the time then and it tends to drain the battery)
Limit notifications - don't check
List view - I have that checked
Settings - use remote connection checked
On Gear S:
Settings - mobile networks - use mobile networks: set to always on
If you use auto on/off, you will not receive any SMS sent to watch # while connected to phone via BT
Settings - notifications : check both list view and notifications
Settings - Messages - outgoing number: mobile device
Make sure you don't have "do not disturb" enabled under settings. I use that feature every night when the Gear charges and I sleep...it charges on my nightstand and drove me nuts the first night buzzing every time I received any type of notification...
Hope this helps!

Yes. Everything was working this morning, but I received a text on my mobile and several emails, but they haven't appeared on the watch. And like you I can no longer see the stock sms app or email app in the list of notifications in Gear Manager!
This is very frustrating .

Update: I completely uninstalled then reinstalled Gear Manager - (which resulted in the Gear being factory reset too). This solved the problem but it did mean reinstalling and setting up all my apps from scratch which took forever.
It seems I was doing some clearing out of unused apps using a memory cleaning app that was a bit too thorough. I deleted one of the Gear Manager's components .

Considering a Gear S over an Urbane, specifically because the Gear S can function absent my phone (Note 4). However, I keep reading the Gear S won't do this or won't do that. It has me confused. Please confirm the Gear S will do the following if my phone is absent:
1: Recieve a call, Make a call.
2: Recieve a text, Reply to a text, Send a text.
3: Recieve notifications (Gmail, Handcent, Calendar, ect).
4: Using Opera Mini, view/reply to email & add Calendar events.
What won't it do without the phone?
Lastly, I understand the Gear S can be connected via Bluetooth (phone close by) or via data (phone far away). Which is better for battery life?
It does everything you have asked as long as you have a data plan through a carrier (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, etc.). The watch is given it's own phone number to receive and make calls/texts. There are options to use the watch's # or the phone's # when you are connected via bluetooth to the phone. It also has a wifi chip so you can connect to a network instead of using your data plan. It also has a standalone GPS chip for navigation or running.
When you're not connected to your phone, it will still receive all your phone notifications on your watch.
If you have a note 4 and are looking for a watch, this is a no brainer. I have a note 4 and I love mine.
Excellent. Thanks for the response.
I have a amaza fit watch. But problem is sometime I receive notification and sometime I don't receive notification on my watch. All time I activate Bluetooth connection and all notifications enable. But I don't understand the problem. Anybody solve my issue to get all time notification on my. Watch.

Hello
I do not receive WhatsApp alerts for amazfit gtr 47 watch
At first I get notifications for the watch but if I cancel the location permission for the app or even if I do leave the location permission for the app I do not receive alerts I even locked the app that will always work in the background and not close it does not help
So I did data cleaning for the app
At first it works I do get whatsapp alerts for the watch
But as soon as I close the location on the phone and also the Bluetooth and then turn them on again I no longer receive alerts to the watch
I do not want the location to constantly work on my phone because it drains the battery quickly
But I leave the app and Bluetooth open and it does not help I do not receive WhatsApp alerts to the watch and then again I do data cleaning for the app at first I get alerts to the watch but as soon as I disconnect the location and Bluetooth on the phone and turn them on after a few minutes again the problem returns and I do not receive notifications
What can I do to solve this problem?
Hello.
I just bought this watch recently, never used a smartwatch before.
Very happy with it, the battery life is amazing, it's been five days of average use (I don't use health monitoring) and it's only at 15% battery.
One major issue I have, which I didn't consider and didn't know, is it not possible to switch phones and have the watch just sync up with the app on that phone?
I was hoping I will be able to switch from my private phone to a company phone as needed, but each time you have to unpair from the first phone and pair to another, and the watch performs factory reset each time.
Is this how all smart watches behave?
Is there a way to get arround that?
It's a shame that switching phones is such a procedure.
Another question, often when I recieve calls, it doesn't always show the contact Name, only the number in the first notification. And then if during the call I scroll down the notifications, it will show a second one with the actual name of the contact, I basically get two notifications when I recieve a call, when I look at my watch it just shows a number calling.
When recieving messages and email, it works fine, it shows the name of the contact, but not when recieving calls.
I have all app permissions allowed and enabled.
Is there a custom rom that can improve these features and enables some modifications?
Thank you.
