[Q] Compatible Bluetooth controllers Fire HD 7 - Fire HD 6 and 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i have my ps3 controller, but the device needs root access in able for me to pair it.
In the mean time, if ever it gets rooted, i would like a substitute controller. Does anyone know which devices work well for the new tablets?

I have heard that the game stop red samurai controller works with the kindle in some games I don't know if there is a confirmed list of games and I know for sure that the Amazon fire tv controller works as I have seen video of it working. The controller is about $12 I'll find a link and post as well as a thread I saw about the controller working with kindle devices.

Now they do say its for the orginal hd but I honestly don't see why it wouldn't work on the fire hd 6&7. I plan on buying one soon and will report back with details.

HD6 here, with 4.5.2.
OUYA controller paired easily and works fine for me, and nothing to configure:
- sticks, d-pad and buttons all behave like normal/familiar 360 controls.
- even the mouse touchpad works, including tap-to-click.
(but I realize a lot of people have said the OUYA controller just doesn't feel right to them, for various reasons. and it's still about 2x the cost of playpads etc.)
what does worry me a little is that there does not appear to be any way to make the Fire HD undiscoverable??!? looking at threads with older models (or maybe just older OS version) - it sounds like you could simply click on the machine-name and it would enable/disabled timed discoverableness.
but my only options seem to be:
- BT on and permanently discoverable.
- BT off.
the heck? am I just missing something?
PS as always, I would love to use my Sony BD Remote, but we all know the infuriation of ever getting one of those working.

Best usb/wireless/bluetooth gamepad for fpse?

I already consider phonejoy and dualshock ps3 controller.
Too bad if you want to use Wii classic controller you need to own the wiimote for it to work which is expensive and I dont have a Wii.
Any other supported gamepad that works well and compatible for an android smartphones? Besides gametel, which is ridicilously expensive and doesnt have trigger L2 and R2.
I need a gamepad controller that has trigger L2 and R2 buttons just so I can play first person shooter psx games on fpse that requires strafing using the trigger L2 and R2 button such as Syphon Filter series, Quake II, Doom, Duke Nukem and so on.

There is a compatability test to ensure it works on your phone, though the app is soooooooooo cheap you may as well just buy it anyways. Dev needs support as he has achieved miracles.
Works flawlessly on most phones and can be configed to work with just about any games (with exception of accelerometer only games) as it now has "Touch controls Emulation".
Its one of the reasons i chose to move to Android
I know, right...

If you're looking for more portability than Sixaxis Controller, then I would recommend using the iControlPad - (A quick google search will find you what you're looking for!) - It's absolutely awesome and completely compatible with most android emulators out there.
It is however a tad expensive. Quality, nevertherless.
Hi Hal sorry to bump an old thread! I yesterday bought a new S8+ and was thrilled about it having MHL and looking forward of hooking up my Phonejoy Bluetooth controller again and play me some fpse. However, Bluez IME is no longer to be found on PlayStore? I found the apk somewhere but very afraid of virus or malware stuff. Why is that awesome IME gone?
Does anyone play fpse with a recent phone and recent bluetooth controller? And if so, what's the setup? And any key mapping required etc?
Thanks!!

Gametel controller

Hey everybody!
I just wanted to ask, if anybody else got a gametel controller and if you also had any problems with it.
Mine shipped in this morning, so I tried it out - now here is some information first on what you might not know about it so far (and what I have found out over the last couple hours)
Pairing is really easy, once you turned it on, the gametel app finds the controller, connects, and asks you to change your inpud method. That is all there is to do
There are 5 options on how to use the controller
1) as a xperia play2) as an android controller (whatever that is supposed to mean, still have not figured it out)3) with just letters from a to l4) with just letters from m to x5) with just numbers
Now what everybody in the reviews said, was that essentially you could use the controller with any app, that supports keypad input or works with the xperia play. Which is exactly my problem, so far that did not work for me at all! I have tried it with all 5 different kinds of gameboy emulator apps and have gotten some response, but it never worked, because the controlles were recognised as the standart android buttons like search, or just marked as unknown and even if they were recognised as letters, they still wouldn't work in the games.
I do not know, if I just did something wrong, or if those apps just didn't work with it.
Ps: I am sorry for any mispellings and wrong section or anything like that. After all it is my first thread
something I forgot,
when I choose to set the controlles as numbers or letters and then just write somewhere - the correct letters/numbers do appear, so I guess it is the apps fault, that it doesn't work for me. Anyway gonna keep trying.
Having problems with this...On emulation is get stuck in one direction. You having the same problems?
Well, I don't have one, but it's essentially a Bluetooth keyboard. "Android controller" sounds like they expect some games/apps to support it natively and you would use that.
In Xperia Play mode, I imagine it just sends the same signals the Xperia Play does (or rather, the app does). If the emulator supports Xperia Play, it should work.
I just found the Gametel on Amazon for $50. Is that what you paid? Because you can get a genuine Sony PS3 controller in black for $40 (Newegg) and use that with the $2 Sixaxis app, and it works with the PS3, and your computer if it has Bluetooth. Or if you know your phone supports it, you can get a USB On The Go cable for under a buck on Amazon and then use any wired USB controller, including the wired Xbox 360 controller ($30 shipped on Amazon, also black). Much less if you're a console gamer and already have either controller.

You can get it on ebay. I am sure they ship to where you live.
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has found a solution to xaboren's issue with the Gametel. I just received mine yesterday and am having the exact same issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Russ
In many emulators you need to activate "InputMethod". For all the emulators developed by Yongzh (Snesoid, N64oid, Gameboid, etc) go to "Settings" -> "Other Settings" and tick the "Use input method" box.
Please also note that Gametel works like a software keyboard, so you should NOT use anything called "Bluetooth Gamepad":
In Yongzh emulators you should use "Input settings" -> "Key mappings".
In the FPse case you setup the keys in "Gamepad" -> "Assign HW buttons".

[Q] XBox 360 Wireless Controller Help

Good evening, ladies and gents of XDA! I'm new to the forums so please forgive me if I'm crossing some lines. I've attempted to look for a similar problem not only on XDA, but through Google as well, but have turned up with no luck. Without further adieu, this is the issue I'm having:
I've read that the Transformer Prime natively supports the Wireless XBox 360 controller. Unfortunately for me, this does not seem to be the case. The buttons do work as I can navigate through the menu with my joystick and the green ring around the menu button flashes (which I'm told is also supposed to happen unless I have the Joystick Center 5 app).
Despite my tablet being able to read my controller, the button mappings are all out of whack. I tried playing OnLive with it and none of the buttons aside for the joystick does what it's supposed to do. I've tried restarting my tablet, but this was met with no avail. I've even purchased the aforementioned Joystick app, but remapping the buttons was unsuccessful. Does anyone know why this "native support" isn't kicking in for me?
I had the same problem, Android supports the controller but most of the games seem not to. I had the official 360 wireless controller with the official wireless receiver, and could only use it for navigating homescreens, icon by icon. Couldn't even go to the next homescreen without first highlighting everything along the way
PS3 one works perfectly on the 2 games I have that I know about them using the controller: GTA3 and Shadowgun.

Phonejoy Bluetooth controller + SG: Dead Zone

YES, I've searched the forums.
NO, nobody is talking about key mappings for this game.
Yeah, I'm sick of those fingerprints all over my tablet screen.
Yeah, I want to play SG: DZ but when I have time, my Android tablet - Transformer TF101 - is begging for a recharge, and I don't want to hold my tablet with my hands while it recharges and game; I'd prefer leave it charging next to the wall while it stands there on my tablet stand and then use my Phonejoy Bluetooth controller and play. Much better. I thought that wouldn't be a problem, have played Shadowgun and the Leftover series with this controller, it's compatible and now Madfinger releases DeadZone.. I think they tweaked the game and/or changed the button configuration - Using my controller all I can do is walk around with my left analog stick and look around with my right analog stick. No shooting, no running, no reloading, no switching weapons. nada. I DO NOT want to root my tablet just to emulate touch controls. I believe that's a waste of time and too much of a headache for this function. And NO, I'm not going to buy a PS3 controller, that would require me to buy Sixaxis and that app requires root. I believe NYKO is going to release their final version of Playground app yet this year and that app promises to emulate touch controls without asking for root. If that's true, I might buy their Playpad controller but until then, i'm sticking with this Phonejoy Bluetooth controller for now.
So I came here to ask you guys, if anyone here managed to make this controller to work with Shadowgun: DeadZone, please post the key maps for this game here and I'll try it; It doesn't matter if your controller is a Wii-mote, a PS3, whatever, if you managed to make it work using your controller and Bluez-IME, please post here the key maps for this game.
Any suggestion is much appreciated.
All the best.
NOTE FOR ADMINS: I'm NOT asking whether the controller works or not!!! As I said before, my controller works PARTIALLY (ONLY my analog stick do work, not my buttons), so I'm looking for suggestions to set up my buttons. This thread is NOT a question! I'm not breaking any rules here.
In the same boat
Yip, I've got the same problem. I am actualy very suprised about how few games have IME keybard options. I've looked at the Android Event API, and there is a good reason that you have to be root to get the other touch screen emulaters to work. Android doesn't want malicious apps to take control of your device and does not allow fake touch screen events from the Java api. You have to be a device (linux level) to do that, and that's why you need root.
I tried to generate the same events as a PS3 controller by fiddling with the Bluez IME source code, but android overrides certain flags on the events, which makes it impossible to emulate it via standard Java software.
hope this helps...

game controller

hi!
I've recently bought the fire HD 6, and was thinking if there are any compatible bluetooth game controllers.
I was thinking to connect it to the TV and use it as a sort of android game console.
Thank you very much
Root and use a PS3 controller is probably your best bet.
The Ouya controller work just fine. Just press the OUYA button (located on the low center in the controller), and when two light start blinking, search as any device at bluethooth menu.
The Ouya controller has an integrated touchpad and can be used as a mouse on your screen. But if you're planning to play a game, remember it's depend if that game has the controller button mapping or you'll need to use Tincore Keymapper to do it manually.
I already rooted my KHD6, so I did the controller test after root, but I'm pretty sure you don't need the root to make it work. I use the same controller on my NON-ROOTED Fire Stick TV and works just fine.
PS4 Controller works like a charm, Played Pokemon On Myboy for a little while, while it was linked to my Chromecast.
I would say a PS4 Controller works out of the box as well, as I wasent rooted at the time.

I just bought this controller about week ago and it work with HD6 (I only use GBC,GBA, and Drastic emulators). They work good so far. I haven't test any Android games yet, but I assume it work fine. This controller is awesome. I used with my HD6, phone, and laptop. Recommended!
