iKross Micro-USB 2-in-1 OTG for nexus 6 - Nexus 6 Accessories

So i decided i need a otg device for the nexus 6. I have the 32gb nexus 6 so i decided i need to manage my space with photos and videos. I picked up this handy little device on ebay for around 8$ free shipping from cali to nyc shipping was fast about 5 days. So recieved the package opened it up plugged it right in. It didnt really work right out the box i have to download stick mount pro from the playstore. Got it set up and i was able to work with it right away with es file explore. Also i was able to back up from twrp directly to my memorycard that i had connected to it. So my guess you can use otg with nexus twrp i would highly recommend one of these for anyone who takes lots of photos and videos and want to back up roms or anything else on here.

I bought a 32GB DT MicroDuo USB 3.0 micro USB OTG because is tiny!
Check it out! It's so compact! but it isn't a reader!

Very cool. Outstanding add for functionality.
Now all we need is one of these to incorporate a full sized USB 3.0 slot and you have everything you need for OTG in one very portable unit.

[Q] Flyer and external usb HDD

Hi,
I am thinking about buying the flyer as I do a lot of nights and I thought it would be an amazing tablet for playing dvd's on.
My question is: I have a 500gb external HDD formatted with NTFS. If I bought a micro usb to micro usb cable, would I be able to plug it into the flyer and play my dvd's? I have ripped them to AVI files and are arround 1gb each?
Also would I be able to run it of power at the same time?
Doubtful. I haven't tried myself but most mobile devices aren't set up to allow their usb port to function with external storage... I could however be wrong. Take ur hdd into a store and give it a shot. Worth a try...

1. The Flyer has no standard micro usb jack! HTC use the same port as HDI output but you can connect the provided USB (not micro) cable.
2. As already said, you need the drivers on the Flyer to do so and I didn't check it. Maybe someone else?
3. You can connect the Flyer in other ways to external storage such as media servers (over WiFi).
Sounds a bit much for what I want to do! I am also considering the Dell Inspiron mini 10.1 which has a flip arround 10" touch screen!
.
Have a look at this thread.
http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=46483
You dont even have to mod the device, just put in a 500GB drive and install ESfile Explorer and it streams all your media files (encoded for the Flyer of course).
OH, BTW, works fine with my A70 AND my Flyer...
Interesting, but I'd admit that I was checking out the videos on the Dell 10" touch screen, it looked so awsome that I went and ordered one. Average price seemed to be £480, but then I found an next day delivery from amazon for £407! So gone for that instead. In my opinion best of both worlds.
For my the flyer looked amazing but didn't have all the functionality I needed!
Cheers for your help guys!

And not the last thing, looking nice, working well.
Ps: I bought the original book cover also, i know it's expensive, but really nice and exactly fit on the device.

No, I've tried. Says high current charge connected but doesn't charge.
I wish they sold that when I spent 20 on just the USB portion of that. I'd like to have the SD adapter.
EPL-1PLRBEG cheap on ebay
do a search for EPL-1PLRBEG found a kit for 2.98 shipped.
I have that but USB mouse doesn't work for me. But for 2$ is good

USB flash drive

Now that the HDX has been rooted, I was wondering if there is a way of using a USB flash drive hooked up to the micro USB port to transfer files onto when I'm not using my computer?

It seems the default amazon Rom does not include USB host support. I have tried to usb otg cables, multiple usb drives, and a mouse and keyboard. None of them act like they get power like on my nexus devices and none of the USB mounting apps detect the drives.
You will probably have top wait for a custom kernel.
For some reason Amazon blocked this in their kernels. Once we get a bootloader unlock, the chains are broken and all hell breaks loose.

Black Fri netted me a $39 Kingston MobileLite and a couple of $45 128GB flash drives - works great with the KFHD8.9 and KFHDX7 - glad I didn't pay for more than the 16GB minimum in either device now!
The RavPower sounds similar in features - maybe better in some ways? I'm not sure if the Kingston can handle portable HD's but with flash so cheap I'm not sure the extra power drain would be a good tradeoff anyway...

Kingston says it can charge also, though I haven't tried it. I think the battery may only be ~1800 mah. They only claim use with flash drives and SD cards, but I was able to open an Excel file from a 1TB portable drive. Probably not enough battery life for practical use with those though. OTOH it has a separate micro-usb for charging so maybe you could use a portable drive while powered.
I wish it had a retractable power cable - it's hard to keep track of separate cables - and a SD card pocket or two.
In any case these devices are great for tablets without SD, especially considering that internal storage can't be upgraded, the ridiculous gouging for another 16GB, and the fact that discounts are much less common on 32GB+ products.
Now if someone wanted to make a killing, they would design a tablet case with built-in battery, wireless storage and a reader...

V30 Doesn't Recognize USB stick

I have used a USB stick with many different Samsung phones, and when the USB stick is inserted, a window pops up on the phone, and you can transfer files back and forth.
My friend's V10 works this way.
But on my V20, and now V30, there is no response at all to inserting a USB stick. If I connect The V20 or V30 to a PC with a USB cable, files can be transferred as expected. But inserting a USB stick doesn't work.
I've tried various settings on the phone (multi-media host, etc) and nothing changes it.
Has anyone else tried this? Can you read a USB stick?
Could you try going to Settings>Storage and see if you can see the USB stick there?
Sent from my sailfish using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Thanks for your suggestion. The storage screen shows internal memory and an SD card, but not the USB stick. I posted this same question a year ago about the V20, and didn't get much feedback then, either. Maybe it's not common for people to use a USB stick with their phone.

Thanks for the app suggestions. I tried a couple OTG readers with no success. Stickmount sounds promising, but it requires root, so I can't try it just yet.
Could you please try with an external harddisk and let us know if that works?

Mine works. When I put drive in, it asked how I wanted to recognize the usb device (Charge, power supply, media, photos, etc). I kept it on power supply and my drive is mounted and available.
There might be a couple things to look at...
1. Is your dongle/cable data capable? WIth USB C, there are some differences with USB 2/3 and only charge capable.
2, Have you tried messing with the developer settings for USB? You can try to force it to data instead of charge.
What file system is the USB flash memory formatted for?

Thank you.
I use one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AUKU1OO/
and my phone recognizes USB flash drives with no issue.
i have a note 5 and V20 and now the V30 (well i just got rid of the note 5 and v20 but had did testing on both ports previously).
i have a usb to otg cable. i also have a RTL-SDR device. from the play store i downloaded the rtl-sdr driver and sdrtouch app (did this to all my phones).
the rtl-sdr dongle was not recognized on the V30 and i would really love to know how to fix this.
the v20 and note 5 and currently my note 3 all worked with no problem.
i wonder since i now have to use my lg g5 type-c to female micro-usb adapter that it makes it not work correctly?
maybe we need a usb 2 otg cable that has usb type-c on the end?
otg or host mode not working 100%
Hi,
just got my V30 plus H930DS (nice shiny blue actually ) and plugged in a couple of usb flash drives and a multi adapter card reader and nothing.
But... just picked a AUKEY USB 3 to USB-A adapter cable and instantly recognised a 4gb flash drive.
Tried another 16GB flash drive but got a message about needing to fix it. As there was not much on there I said yes, warning that everything will be deleted, then 2 seconds later, message says its ok and now working fine for copy copy/paste.
The flash drive was formatted by the phone to FAT32 (it was ntfs before)
I also tried exFAT formatted from windows and that worked so that would help with >4GB files.
The bottom line is that you need a good make cable which is specifically for USB-3 and either FAT 32 or exFAT. Best bet is to plug in the flash drive and if the phone wants to format it then do it that way.
Just a heads up, i know both the samsung OTG adapter and the pixel 2 OTG adapter work with the v30. I use them myself.

I also have a cheap adapter that doesn't work.
Will get one of those above also.
Do lg not have any branded goodies?

Only the V30+ comes with some goodies, which is the B&O play headphones. I get to unbox all the new phones as part of my job and I end up with adapters from all sorts of devices.
I prefer the Pixel OTG as it works with a case on and seems very durable.
All of my OTG drives, which I used on my HTC M8, work on the V30 also. If it doesn't tell you it's working, go to settings and mount it.

Hi, I have double ended Sandisk flash disks which only work with the AUKEY adapter cable usb a, not with a usb c adapter.
I don't see any where in settings to mount it
Very fussy is this LG
EDIT: have bought some small UGREEN adapters and everything works as expected now.

SanDisk Ultra USB Type-C Flash Drive

I mainly got this for my Google Pixel XL which has no SD card slot, but it's 128GB internally. Why do i need an SD card with 128GB of storage? Because every time i flash an Official Google img Build, it wipes the phone, All TWRP backups are gone, Titanium Backups are gone. Can't go wrong for the price...
So Amazon just dropped me off a SanDisk Ultra USB Type-C Flash Drive for my Pixel XL. I paid $12.99 for the 32GB version, and i only got a 32GB because my Pixel XL is 128GB and its going to be used mainly for TWRP back-ups...

Yes it does get quite warm, no pretty hot, but you can touch it...
That Sandisk USB type-c flash drive is a piece junk, extremely slow to transfer files /pics/videos from the phone and become warm->hot. I have a 128gb version that just sit on my desk while I type this reply.
