Hi everyone,
As most of you know there are emulators for most of the older gaming platforms out there for Android, for example NES, SNES, N64, Amiga etc. Alot of games on these platforms work really good on Android, but the controllers are often so bad that you cant be arsed to play it anyways.
Are there any emulated games that you actually DO play, and if so, which ones? I am eager to play some old console games on my phone but I have a hard time finding games that are actually playable and enjoyable with a touch screen controller.
(I got a Galaxy Nexus. Can't wait for a working version of GTA3!)
N64 is good. Goldeneye and Mario Kart work well on my Rezound. I also play backyard baseball sometimes with SCUMM VM
Castlevania symphony of the night with FPSE runs nice on my thunderbolt with onscreen controls but its perfect with a ps3 controller.
Anyone have Tyson Punchout?
Castlevania Aria of Shadows
Pokemon Emerald
On my poor little Wildfire they run well
Thanks for the tips. I am currently playing full throttle in ScummVM and can recommend it strongly. Also games like Broken Sword 1&2, Monkey Island 1-3 and Day of the tentacle seems very entertaining and easy to control due to the point-and-click system.
Any SNES turn based rpg. No need for more than 2 inputs at a time.
Sent from my HD2
Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, Vandal Hearts 2. All are PSX games and all play very well on my LG Thrill.
What apps does everyone here think are the best for the Prime? Since this is going to have enough juice for gaming, I want to try some of my old faves. I have not used any in Android before, any useful tips would be much appreciated. Thanks
I recently installed (on TF101) Emulator ROMs with a large portfolio of ROMs to download and SNesoid - both work great. (Emulator ROMs allows downloading ROMs for SNesoid)
I also had aDosBox (or sth similar) once for DOS games.
There is also an Amiga emulator but it was subpar from what I remember, and I don't know the exact name.
SNesoid is great for SNES games and allows saving game (made playing Lost Vikings and Lost Vikings II so much less frustrating ). It works great with keyboard but you need to setup the keys first.
Gameboid, and n64oid and nesoid all work great.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
Edit: they aren't in the market though, so get them from SlideME or Google them
snesoid is hands down the best !
i like scummvm, get to play old adventure games like day of the tentacle, sam and max, etc.
GemRB! = Planescape Torment (best rpg game ever!) and rest blackisile games like BG 1&2 or IWD 1&2.

Any PS2/PS2 emulators?
Sadly the prime doesn't have the hardware to support this. However, there is a Ps1 emulator available.

the prime has enough juice/power to easily do PS2 games. there just isn't a PS2 emulator available yet because this the first time a device been released that could push those specs or more. Shadowgun tegra3 version easily has better graphics than any ps2 game ever released. Prime power is in-between an Xbox(more powerful than a ps2) and a ps3(not quite there yet but close. prime produces some amazing videos to almost rival it). I would love to see a ps2 or Xbox emulator pop up for Tegra3 devices/Prime.
even the dual core tegra2 has games that rival ps2 or look better. Tegra3 is a whole lot more powerful than tegra2. CPU wise and Gpu wise. don't underestimate the prime and tegra3. some game developers already said it'll be very easy to port PC games to tegra3 without any loss on graphics quality or speed. some games already on tegra3 use exact same visuals as PC counterpart. developer said this makes it easy for them to make games for more than one platform in parallel. not having to worry about dumbing down anything.

just finished playing Bloody Roar 2 on my Prime with FPse emulator . works great.
Einhander is a classic n plays really good also. about to download Marvel vs. Capcom and play that ;-)
FPse by far the best PlayStation emulator hands down. plays just as if I'm really playing on PlayStation. tinkering around with system and video settings in game will help game look and play even better. still messing around seeing what does what.

Tegra 3 takes gaming to a level never before seen
I have Nesoid, Snsesoid, Gensoid, and FPse w/ every ROM made for each (except FPse of course) on my G2X and they all run great! Cant wait to try them out on my TFP.

happy new year! they all run n look great on Prime. yeah those psx roms are huge..lol won't take too many to fill up prime memory if you get carried away..lol
Do you use a BT remote like the wii remote with your emulators? Is an additional program like wiimote needed for a wii controller to work? Asus information about the prime makes it sound like no other software is needed to get a wii, ps3, or xbox remote to work. It is all built in.

But to emulate a device you need a lot, a lot of CPU power, more than the original device had. I doubt Tegra3 is enough for this task. I hope I'm wrong.

I also use the ..oid emulators. They play great, but I can't seem to get the Wii remote to work correctly on the prime. The button mapping doesn't register to the game, instead, it registers the button push to Google search, or to the file explorer where the game is stored.Weird.
I've downloaded bluezime, wiimote and Wii controller from the market with the same result.
Anyone else have this issue?
GenPlusDroid works great for SEGA games! If you uncheck "Maintain Aspect Ratio" it will go fullscreen. I ordered the Joystick-it joystick for my Prime too, should be good.

Even my PC has problems with PS2 emulation and it is considered an enthusiast computer.
Core i7 920 OC'd to 3.6GHz from 2.66GHz
18GB of DDR3-1600 CAS-9 RAM
Two GeForce GTX 460s 1GB in SLI
Three 500GB WD 7,200 RPM HDDs in RAID-0
Even with that I have problems with PS2 emulation.
About PS2 Emulation
As a general rule of thumb you need 4x the speed of the hardware you are trying to emulate.
I read about emulator for very old, very slow game console that was slow on 3Ghz processor because it was very precisely emulating everything. For most things you don't need that precission but sometimes games don't work on amulators because of that.
I am thinking of buying a Sony S1. I will be buying a Vita, already have a PSP, PS3 and Play.
My questions are about the games; so far I have only bought a few downloadable games from Sony for both the PS3 and PSP.
1. As with Android, can I purchase one game and play the game on multiple devices (I am really just thinking of the Vita and S1)?
2. What games will play on the S1. I have read on this site PSone games. But what about old PS2 games?
3. Are there lots of Sony games available for the S1 or will I struggle to find my old favorites?
Thanks and sorry if some of the questions are vague.
From what I can see it is no different than what you can play on your Play. E.g. a few ps1 games. Almost certain that ps2 games will never be supported. If you have the original ps1 games get fpse and then you can emulate them on the play and s1

GTA3 was originally a PS2 game
1. No, if you buy a game for the tablet s it will not be available on your vita, ps3, etc. Sucks, I know, cause I have multiple devices as well. They have to format/emulate the games differently. Hopefully in the future they'll streamline it, so for now I'm hesitant to purchase too much.
2. Officially I think it's only psone games now, but unofficially you can download emulators from the market that'll run just about anything and some of them will work with the native PS3 controller support as well!
3. There are about 12 in the "official" Sony store with more stated to come. There is, of course, the emulator alternative in the market and that will open up the window to just about whatever you want.
Thanks for all the replies, they have all been very helpful
I am thinking about buying the S1 and wanted to know if integration with Sony games would be a deciding factor.
For me, based on the replies I don't think it will bean important factor in my decision.
It seems that there are not that many games, they are all old and it sounds like I would need to buy multiple copies (or run emulators).
However I am still very tempted by the S1. I particularly like the form factor.
Thanks again
Games bought from PS Store on tablet, 'should' be re-downloadable on other playstation certified devices (Xperia Play, PSVita .etc) From within the PSStore app. It worked for me! I now have 5 free PS1 Games bought on my tablet on my Xperia Play.
To clarify Sony tablet games bought from PS Store should work on PSVita as it is playstation certified and part of the same ecosystem! Hope it helps!
Hi Guys,
Can anyone confirm the games which are compatible with PS3 Controller?
I am thinking of buying one..
LIST OF COMPATIBLE GAMES:
GTA3
Muffin Knight
Pool Break
Riptide GP
ShadowGun
Shine Runner
Sonic CD
Soulcraft THD
Well for my own experience, here is my two cents
psone games (ofcourse)
nes.emu (Nintendo Entertainment System)
snes9x Ex (Super Nintendo) <-- this one however I believe is removed from Market.
ColEm (Coleco Vision)
I have not had time to try any other. But I believe there is more than this that would work. It is well worth the money to buy one, if you ask me.
well, I am looking for android games which are compatible with PS3 controller..

GTA 3 works well with controller
GTA 3 works well. Button mappings are a bit different than the original but once you get the hang of them it is very playable.
Cm'on guys..please try and confirm if other good android games can b played with ps3 controller..
Sega Sonic Adventure is supported I believe..

Are you referring to sonic cd? Or is sonic adventure on the market too now? If so holy crap why can't I find it
Also you could just get n64droid, a nintendo 64 emulator. Works pretty well on the sony tablet. It allows for complete control mapping, so you could be tearing up some Zelda or Mario cart on a Sony controller .
The developer did however pull it from the market for some reason (even though he had plenty of customers like me that paid around $6 for it), so you will have to find it elsewhere. Development for it has continued even though its not on market... confusing.

I can tell you that ShadowGun is fully working (already finished), just go to setup/gamepad and map your keys
also played 3 minutes Inertia HD... not really impressed by it... but it's working
Sonic CD is definitly compatible. There are some weird things like not being able to pause in game using the controller (you have to presss the pause icon on the screen) but otherwise it works fine.
Edit: I just reread the original post and it loks like i misunderstood. I thought you were looking for confirmation on GTA and Sonic CD being compatible with the PS3 controller. When I get a chance I'll see what else I have on my tablet that I can add to you list. to note, all emulators ive tried (FPSE, Gameboid, Snesoid, Nesoid, Gensoid, GBCoid, Ataroid and Gearoid) work with the ps3 controller
Shadowgun works GREAT once you assign the buttons, but the analog sticks work natively and brilliantly.

Samurai Vengeance II-Doesnt Work
Pool Break Pro-controller works but you still have to press the on screen icons to do things like change the angle you are shooting, change where you are hitting the ball, etc...
I am unable to try out Asphalt 6 right now.
I also tried out Muffin Knight and Reckless Racing. In both games you can use the controller to play the game but you cant really navigate and select thing in menus with it
Fpse (psx emulator)

PES12 not works!!!
inviato dal mio Sony Tablet S usando Tapatalk HD
Hmm this is a great thread. I was wondering that myself.
Anyways, Muffin Knight does work with the controller... but I don't think you can use a button to jump. you have to use the up key on the dpad to jump. This makes it tough, especially when you get the double jump ability.
I have a load of games on my tablet which I'll test tomorrow. If anyone wants me to specifically try a certain game just ask. I have about 150 games purchased now and no qualms about buying more lol.
It's great to hear shadow gun works btw! I refuse to buy fps games on a touch screen because I can't control them to save my life lol. I'll list what I come up with by Friday at the latest
List of Working and non working titles
I got up early and started testing a few games. I'll include a list of non working titles as well just so everyone knows. Any notes will be in brackets after the title
NOTE: I decided to add an Almost working section in the middle of the list. Theres a couple games that nearly work 100% but a critical button doesn't work. Emailing the devs may get that fixed promptly!
WORKING
-Shadowgun
-SupaSupaX (Unable to pause with controller)
-Muffin Knight (Have to jump with up on d-pad)
-All PS1 games from the PS Store
-Soulcraft THD (Works great!!!)
-Sleepy Jack (Works....but controls are a little weird. You click the left stick to shoot and click the right stick to use the slow bomb)
-Grand Theft Auto 3
-Shine Runner
-Symphony of eternity (Although you need to click the left stick to accept combat decisions)
ALMOST WORKING
-They Need to be Fed (left/right work on dpad and analog stick, but jump doesn't!)
-Karoshi (Left/right working on dpad and stick again, but unable to jump)
-Dark Incursion (Jump and shoot are combined into the X button..powers don't work)
-Reckless getaway (Left right work, can't activate pickups)
NOT WORKING
-Pocket Legends
-Dungeon Defenders
-Bang Bang Racing THD (Drag...I can barely play this with the on screen controls)
-Dead On arrival
-Attack from outer space
-Wind up Knight
-Mike V- Skateboard Party
-Summit X Snowboarding
-Minecraft Pocket Edition
-Destinia
-Megastunt Mayhem
-Age of Zombies
-Puffle Launch
That's it for now. Is it possible for a moderator to keep a stickied post at the top of all 100% working games? If not, no big deal. We can just periodically copy/paste all working games with new additions as the last post.
How about onlive? Can anyone confirm if this works with the ps3 controller?
Has anyone tried Sonic 4 Episode 1? I'd like to know how well it works
compatible titles
thanks for this list, i'll keep my eyes open for more. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to get some things out here in Kuwait, but when I get home I'll check some more ut.
Hi all,
Coming from the Nexus 5 scene, I'm surprised to find that there isn't a thread dedicated to games on our beloved Z3, seen as it has PlayStation support, how can we not?
I think a list should be compiled for games which people play on the Z3.
Myself, I'm not much of a gamer, but c a new start the list off with:
Dead Trigger 2
Post your findings here, or even pm me and I'll add the games toothed list, you never know you may find some new games along the way.
happy gaming!

The Battle Cats!
In general when I have no controller I'll just play fruit ninja or ngog rong (dragonball online)
Other than that Im not much of a fan of the Android games and i think its because I absolutely hate touch controls. So for me the best thing about this z3 is how easy it is to connect a ds4 controller. Playing asphalt with the controller is a much muchhh better experience than the touch controls. I wish more games were optimized for the ds4. And i hope there's an Xperia play 2 some day.
Remote play is amazing but sony really need to release their bloody game control mount thing.
Also use kainy. The setup took a bit of time but being able to play many pc games through this is also nice. Obviously not as good as remote play but still something good to have.
So I play:
Fruit ninja
Ngok rong(dragonball online)
Asphalt 8 -ds4
Gta sa -ds4
Pc games using Kainy and ds4
Ps4 games using Remote play
I have the Nyko mount (search amazon) for my DS4. Works great.
I also have a MOGA controller, it's a pity Sony didn't map the DS4 to standard HID controls as the MOGA is more compatible with more games. I understand the need for rumble, lightbar, and touchpad in the remote play app, but I wished it switched profiles regardless.
PSA: The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead are both Android games now. TWAU seems to run just fine (a frame drop here or there, but it does no detriment to the gameplay)

Leo's Fortune and just started TWAU.
Might start playing Dead Trigger again now that I can use a DS4.
"The Room" really shines on the Z3. Somehow it looks better than it did on my G3.
Riptide GP2 a really fun JetSki racing game.
Tetris of course
and Leo's fortune
I've been curious about this. Does the DualShock 4 support take the place of the previous DualShock 3 support that previous Xperia Z phones included? Does the DualShock 4 work the same for the games that had DualShock 3 support? If not, is the Z3 still compatible with the DualShock 3?
At one point I had the Sixaxis Controller app on my phone to use one of my old Sixaxis controllers, but I got rid of that when I got a Moga Hero Power since is offered the extra battery and had a built-in clamp. I've been curious if this would be better to stick with instead of trying to pair up a DualShock controller, but the placement of the power and volume buttons has me worried (especially on the Z3 Compact). Those of you with Moga controllers, how well does the Z3 fit with the retention clamp?
Thanks.
EDIT:
Well I guess I found an answer to part of my question. The Z3 is still compatible with the DS3, but pairing still requires a USB-OTG cable. The DS4 can pair wirelessly. This is according to the Z3 Compact's online manual:
http://userguide.sonymobile.com/ref...TV-using-a-DUALSHOCK-wireless-controller.html
I'm still curious whether the DS4 works the same in games that support DS3, but it probably does.
Playing Dead Trigger 2 the most at the moment

Just turning the settings down a little means all PSP games run fine,
and with turbo on PPSSPP using a Sony Xperia Z3.
Currently addicted to Dead Trigger 2, but just started The Room. Have all the emulators currently available of course (Drastic DS is awesome), and Dead Space is amazing with headphones.
