I unlocked my sprint ls990zv4 for gsm use in canada with WIND mobile using the carrier folder method, only problem is it thinks its roaming. im connected to WIND AWAY intead of WIND. could this be because of buil. prop target carrier? i even tried changing the target country to CA instead of US and changing SPR to spr , bootloop even after changing permissions to rw r r.
i changed the target carrier to OPEN, no boot loop for the first time. the signal bar look has changed and some of the settings items have changed but still only getting roaming.

If it's not in the update menu, I'm not sure if you can. Maybe try setting your network type to global then if there is no PRL.

In the General forum on one of the unlocking threads there's a hidden menu apk and some instructions on how to switch network types. Can't remember which one though.

I"m currently in Korea. And since it's global version which is unlocked, i put in the Korean sim card. But it's not working.
It does not catch the signal. I know if i want to use the data, i have to put the APN. But it doesn't even let me use the calls or message.
Head into Settings > More settings > Mobile Networks and make sure that Network Mode is set to Global or GSM/UMTS. If its on LTE/CDMA it won't pick up any signal.

I was running in custom Roms, but I updated my phone and by odin, i put it back in to stock rom.
So you guys are saying that i have to root it again and put the APNs first?
I have an att HTC one which I unlocked and got it working with telcel here in Mexico but I cannot connect to my mobile network. Mobile data only says disconnected. I'm still running the stock Rom, rooted and running bulletproof kernel. I verified with telcel and everything is good on their end. Telcel and att use the same bands. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance. First post
Did you set up the proper APN? In settings - mobile data - access point names?
Also type *#*#4636#*#* into the dialer. Then goto phone information then scroll down and make sure ur settings are set to "gsm/wcdma/lte"

Hello everybody
My cousin from the USA bring me a Verizon Galaxy S4, I putted a local gsm carrier sim card and it worked fine, I have rooted it and installed hyperdrive on it, but the problem is that it's always on the gsm 3g network which consumes a lot of battery and I can't force it to use the 2g network since this option isn't available unlike the international version of the galaxy s4
Is there any way to force it to use 2g gsm network?

Verizon does not use any form of GSM. You are more likely on a CDMA network.

The problem is there is no option to force the phone to use the 2g only like for the i9500
I have installed the liquiezmooth Rop which is Aosp rom and it has this option, then i went back to my nandroid back up and now it use the 2g only !

Hi,
My uncle has got me a new Verizon S4 from USA in India. He did not turn it on in USA neither he has activated the phone. He simply got me the box packed phone.
I inserted an Indian GSM SIM card and switched it on, it did recognize the service provider and then asked me couple of questions to select languages and all.
However it does not select a Network Operator. My Network operator is Airtel. It shows a List of Local Network Operators but when i select any of them, it says "Registering on selected network operator" but then it fails.
Can some one help me over come it and how i can use this phone in India?
Try to add apn for your provider and chose to search for the network automatically. Should work.

Restart to factory, when ask for language just tap the screen left bottom, right bottom, left bottom, right bottom and vol up.
The phone will activated, left bottom and right bottom mean just above the soft key, vol up is left side button for increase the vol.
Sounds network locked

To use the intuition on gsm networks you should followvthe next steps:
1.- Need to be rooted, if tou are not rooted use framaroot with gandalf exploit
2.- Use a root explorer or a buld.prop editor and change a line on it:
ro.build:target_operator=VZW
TO THIS:
ro.build:target_operator=OPEN
this line apear twice on buld.prop so bu shure to modify both
3.- install NETWORK by Philipp Mangelow from playstore its free
4. Turn off yoyr device insert your gsm simcard, and turn on again the device.
5.- once your booted, open NETWORK and change network type to WCDMA PREFERED, now you should be using gsm... to get data working just set you APN on mobile network settings
**This steps, are for JELLYBEAN, IF YOU ARE ON ICE CREAM SANDWICH just install NETWORK an change network type dont need modify build.prop or be rooted***

I use all carriers in México... Im from México... In telcel only works 2g because it dont hace the 850 3g frecuency
So I changed my build.prop from VZW to OPEN. I'm getting better 4G LTE signal and I did notice that my multitask key stopped working, which is fine because I don't use it. I have also seen that when my screen turns on (using the button) it gradually brightens up; doesn't matter what screen brightness I set it at. I haven't modified anything else. Have you ran into this anomaly?

To get LTE do not give your z2's imei to AT&T since they need to have an IMEI of an AT&T LTE enabled phone in their system to be able to provision LTE. ( I'm using the imei from my m7). So, put in the sim card, go to where you have WIFI, download the apn, enable LTE or 4G, restart your phone and LTE should work. I figured this out after spending several hours with a supervisor in tech support.

Everytime I use download internet settings, nothing seems to happen?
Yeah I was able to fix the problem by using the cingular apn setting, but that was on the 55 firmware, I updated to the 69 firmware and the default at&t apn settings that you can download to the phone worked. I have a D6503.
I am on ATT, I don't get the LTE icon, only 4G symbol, speed seems fine, but no LTE icon, APN setting was set when I download the MMS setting,
for those Z2 users on ATT, do you have LTE icon on your phone ?
The LTE & 4G icons seem to depend on which firmware you're running. It looks like 55 showed LTE, 69 showed 4G and 402 went back to LTE.
Sent from my D6503 using Xparent Red Tapatalk 2
Yeah I'll also comfirm the firmware icon changes. .69 removed the LTE icon for me too. No worries, speed is still the same.
