I'm sorry, it is hard to understand your post but I will do my best to help. For one this thread is better suited to the Q&A forum. Moving on to a possible solution, if you do a battery pull and cannot reboot into safestrap (provided you have it installed which I assume you do) then your only option is to use Odin to flash the nc5 stock image and start over. If you can make it into safestrap, you can do a wipe and reflash the rom.

I'm on 100% Stock Rom this is my 2nd note Device ATT Version I717
This version is never been rooted before. I do want to root my device
I'm still under Warrinity is there any way to put any rom without increase the Counter #
How do I void the Counter #
Is there a special Odin Software that will not increase Counter #
Can someone point me to the right direction I looked all over XDA Forums I didn't find a thing how to void counter increase.
I would like to keep it at 0 at all times....
Thanks....
Your counter will increase, but there are methods and tools that will fix that taking it back. If you are worried about your Warranty, then rooting or flashing should not be done, but here the link for the GNote Super Page with all the tools needed and or required.

Without Rooting please explain please
I though you have Root to use any Rom?
If you can flash any rom without rooting does this mean that it will not increase counter #.
Thanks....
Flashing a ROM in cwm will not increase the counter. When you flash something in Odin it will. That counter reset zip is supposed to be flashed in a custom recovery(cwm, twrp). You only need a custom recovery to flash a ROM, not root. You flash cwm through Odin. That will increase your counter by one. You can then flash the reset zip in recovery to get it back to zero. Then you can flash all the ROMs you want through recovery without increasing the counter.

K got the file for CWR directly from Clockwork Recovery Site it was the same version he had on the Forum as well.
here what I'M understanding
First I got to make sure all the USB Drivers all up to date which is all up to date. & latest version of Samsung Kies too..
Plug my phone with the USB Cable into Computer wait until shows SGH-I717
use Odin 1.85 software and use pda to flash the CWR not to check the Start Button yet.
Put my phone into Recovery mode.
Once in Recovery Mode then hit start and do not change any settings.
After it's flashed
then I got to install the ATT Flash Counter Reset though CWR that will put my counter down from 1 to default correct.
Then put the rom in the sd card and same with ATT Flash Counter & Gapps latest version
First Thing to install is
1) CWR Recovery though Odin
2) Install ATT Flash Counter Reset though CWR
3) Install Jelly Bean Rom
4)Install Gapps
Is this correct information?
Should I not touch my kernel just leave it alone too.
You got it ....
Simply follow the information in the root thread and your Good...
I don't know about the kernel, as I don't use that rom. But the rom thread will give you the information you need ....g

This method looks really safe http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23229071&postcount=57

No!
It says on that post that that method is only for Gingerbread roms, NOT stock ICS, which is what you have...
It's in the first sentence. It's red. And bold.

my suggestion to every new user to ROMs and flashing
read until your eyes bleed, your fingers fall off and your ball sack shrivels into dust!
read read read.....research read and research the research.
If you are even remotely afraid of snarfing up your device then re read what you read and then read it again.
Great to ask questions and most will be helpful but get your melon into your puter screen and hit every link given every resource possible.
And remember, NO one is responsible for what you or I do to our devices. We ALL do this knowing full well the risks.
Welcome to the Note forums. And everyone has given you sound advice already.
Regards
Mortem
Besides, you put the phone in DOWNLOAD mode to use odin.

[Q] Need to reset to factory ROM

I had rooted my SG2 (AT&T) to ZedoMaxStock Kernel. What a mistake! No wireless, misbehaving Bluetooth connection etc etc. So now I need to get back to factory settings and / or flash a good kernel, so I can once again have root access. I've started to build apps for the phone, that's why I need root.
Any help appreciated.
Go read the stickies in the Q&A and development sections. Reading the stickies first would have warned you to stay away from Zedomax.
Included in the stickies will be how to return to stock rooted ICS.

If you flashed zedomax, don't you already have root? If so, all you need to do is install mobile odin lite on your phone and flash any kernel you want.

Exactly. That's what I've been telling everyone. Flashing a kernel like siyah gives you access to cwm which is what u can use to flash anything you want. People seem to want to root it then install a kernel that roots it AGAIN. Making it too complicated
OP please take heed to what is being posted here, the above Members have some valid and great infomation. Thank You.

[Q] Advice needed for rooting GT-I9300

Guys I know this is long but PLEASE don't freak out! I really need some advice from you experts on this! I hope you could spend your time reading everything here and give me some advices! Thanks!
Phone details:
Model number: GT-I9300
Android version: 4.3
Baseband version: I9300DXUGNB1
Build number: JSS15J.I9300XXUGNA5
Hello guys, since I'm not really a rooting expert (previously I rooted a motorola device), I would like to ask for some advices regarding rooting our S3 because I have only one phone and I can't afford to brick it.
1. So basically I'm referring to the guide here. However, that rooting guide is for Samsung Galaxy S3 on I9300XXUGNA7 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which is different from my build number (I've checked software update on my device over OTA and Kies3 but it says I have the latest firmware), will it works for my phone? Also in the guide it says to use odin3 v3.09, however in CF_auto_root page here it says to use odin3 v1.85, so which one is working for my device or which one is better?
2. Next I would like to ask is it necessary to install CWM recovery to replace the stock one? After searching around, I found that there are some people who installed CWM recovery even before rooting, is that even possible? So basically to install CMW recovery I think I will follow the steps here, is this working for my device?
3. Okay I know this is the dumbest question... but is there anything else I need to do after the above 2 steps (flashing kernel, modem etc.)?
Thank you very much for spending your time reading my post. I hope you can clear those doubts for me!

Flashing your phone in any way doesn't guarantee not bricking it, see this thread
Scroll down to the quoted section headed Quick Root from there
Download Odin
Download CF-AutoRoot for your phone
Read the link on rooting
It is really straight forward just read up on it but don't read too much into it a frighten yourself

Great that thread helps a lot! I cleared most of my doubts now, but one more question please, after rooting, I wished to install ported apps like S5 launcher and accuweather, and in order to install these I need to flash from recovery. Is it possible to flash this using stock recovery? Or I need to install custom recovery like CMW?
You can't install anything with stock recovery, you'll need a custom recovery.
Make sure you have a full nandroid and efs backup before you flash anything -ported apps can break the framework and produce bootloops.
Seriously though, all this information is available in the sticky or by searching -why do need people to write it all out for you?

Thanks for your information. I did search around and try to understand the things myself, but still there are some doubts remain, that's why I opened this thread hoping that someone can clear the doubts for me. This is my only phone and I really can't afford another (I'm from a low-income family), I just want to make sure everything is alright so that I don't mess up my device. Thanks for your understanding
If this is relevant for Samsung galaxy s3, I got this done the other day using Odin to unlock and root, ran the root app to confirm root. The ROM manager to found CWM recovery flash. So far all good, should take 5 mins in all but an hour in prep and homework.

Don't use rom manager, it can soft brick your phone.

Hello! I agree that it would be better NOT to use Rom Manager. Many users had problems because of it. The safest way, in my opinion, is to flash a custom kernel using Odin. For example, I had stock rom and used Odin to flash boeffla kernel (not advertising it, just saying what I did) because that kernel had both a .tar version and a .zip one. I downloaded the .tar version and flashed it with Odin by putting the .tar file in the PDA column. That's for root.
For recovery I'm using PhilZTouch and I love it. It supports both JB and KK roms and that is preety cool. Also it's full touch so I don't need to stress my hardware buttons. It's also available as .tar file so you can flash it with Odin just like the kernel.
That's how I'd recommend anyone to root and install a custom recovery on a Sammy phone because I believe it's the safest way. PS: before launching Odin make sure the phone is NOT connected to the PC and that Kies isn't running in the background (use Task Manager to check) Goodluck! !!:thumbup:

Wow, that's great. By saying unlock, do you mean unlock the bootloader? Wait, is the bootloader locked in our S3?

Currently struggling with deodexing/odexing the stock rom, after reading around I can differentiate between the odex and deodex rom, still digging on how to deodex a rom though (since I want to install some S5 mods). After searching around, it seems like titanium backup can do the deodexing/odexing just nice Gonna do some more preparation, hopefully I can have my device rooted by this week
You could flash PhilZ Recovery and make a nand backup of your rom. This way you'd have an emergency copy if something goes wrong or if you break something in the system. Just my thought

Oc5 stock rom

Anyone have a link and instructions to flash from nc5 custom rom to lollipop do I have to change kernel or modem I been reading for ever seems all links are toasted had to wipe and Odin this rom is so stable not one force close need to get my flash on guys what do I need to do I miss the galaxy s2 epic touch was nice so many roms and things to do now can't even get cm 10 . On my note no data guys I could use some help here
First off please use punctuation, it'll make it easy for people to help you. However, what I did was a Odin flash back to stock NK4 then took the OTA for OC5. Did another Odin flash to get TWRP. After that I flashed SU. Then some debloating.
Now I did see some where I think in the General section or Q&A section about flashing OC5 via custom recovery but personally haven't tried it yet.
Please excuse me I'm mobile I wanted to provide link to point you where you need to be.
Or search. Even a little. Saw a thread titled...any guesses? lol accepting bricks as donations. Jk
Thanks! Sorry been a long game time since I've posted or needded help

Create backup of current ROM and settings

Guys, I'm still new to android so excuse my ignorance.
My s6 is rooted and I don't have a custom ROM. What I do have is a highly tweaked phone (sqlite and other CSC tweaks) What I would like to know is that is it possible to create a Firmware backup of my current phone and state as it sits so if i get into trouble i can use Odin and flash the backup i created. The caveat here is that I don't believe i can install CWM b/c it will trip the Knox counter.
Thanks
