[Q] Gmail says "No internet connection". But I do have internet connection. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I try to reload/refresh my Gmail app to get new mail. It tells me "No Internet connection. Retry." But I do have an internet connection. I can surf the web on a browser app.
How can I figure out what's going on? Is there a verbose error script/log created?
The sole suspiscion is that I've frozen an app that Gmail needs. I've been freezing apps/files (using Link2SD) that came preinstalled with my Samsung Galaxy Tab4, because I'd like to get rid of them, and I thought that freezing them is the first step to confirm that I (or my tablet) doesn't need the file/app.

Are you using an ad blocker?
Do other Google apps work?
Have the correct time and date on your tablet?
Tried to uninstall/reinstall the Gmail app?
Any sync errors in Settings / Accounts?

es0tericcha0s,
thanks for your reply. I figured out the problem: I had an app that turned off the Google Play store temporarily (and I guess Gmail too). . I removed that app and the problem disappeared.

[Q] Unable to connect to Android Market

I'm on stock 2.2 without any Root. I can't connect either to android market or to any google apps like gmail, gtalk etc. There isn't any issue with my data plan as i can browse the net and using twitter and Facebook flawlessly. As i am newbie in this android bandwagon i don't know if it is required to have any specific configuration for google apps and market?
Gmail
I think you have to register your GMail account first to use the GTalk & Market app.
ya i tried to register in the market app via handset.. popup shows it requires to have around 5 minute to connect to google server..then error message showing that cannot connect to server..It may be an issue with my operator? but then i can browse the net and use FB and twitter.
" can't establish a reliable data connection to the server" this is the error message poping up while i tried gmail, gtalk, and market app.
Wi-Fi
If you get the chance, try using Wi-Fi first just to register your GMail account.
My issue is solved...this is what i did:
Settings-accounts & sync then ticked the auto sync option..
Now every thing working perfectly...

[Q] gtalk won't stop auto loggin in

My Google talk is not set to "Automatically sign in" however, when I open the app it signs in automatically.
Just curious if anyone has a possible fix?
Thanks!

"Automatically sign in" is for signing i automatically when the fone starts or when connectivity is established.
it is not like a desktop application since the app is linked to the gmail account on your fone.
alternatively you can choose nimbuzz as an IM client if you dont want to sign in always with the same credentials..
The one thing I was trying to do was make it so it doesn't show that I am always available. No matter if I log out or kill the app it always shows that I am available on gtalk.
Is there a solution to this?
Have you considered meebo or another app instead of using talk? I don't use chat apps but it might do what you are looking for.
I use ebuddy, but that is besides the point.
Here is the thing- since the gtalk is set up with the original google account (the one when you originally set up the phone) it does not let you delete that account off gtalk. But on top of that, no matter what I do i.e. sign out or kill the gtalk app (and even if it shows gtalk is not running), it always shows that I am available and never truly logs me out.
So with the original google account on the phone, I am now always available on gtalk and I can never log out- just really bothers me. Anyone have solution?
Thanks
Looks like the always available is an ongoing problem, I haven't found a solution yet...

Got it so ebuddy is no longer holding my gtalk hostage (I no longer show always available). I used the solution at the end of this forum:

Sync settings for google account

I recently got a HTC One X and noticed that there was an error syncing with my google account. When I checked it out, my "Sync Internet" is failing. Then I remembered that on my Logitech Revue with Honeycomb had the same issue.
What exactly is "Sync Internet" and how come it is failing on more than one device? Is there a way to fix this?
anyone?
I think that its just trying to sync your browser (bookmarks, etc.).
As for fixing it - I don't have any terribly deep insight. Try disabling it and re-enabling it. Do you need your browser settings synced?
I don't need it synced but since the error happened across two different devices, i wanted to know what it could be
I am afraid I don’t trust any web storage space. I prefer to some Android PC Managers such as AirDroid. Or another one Moborobo, it has the backup and restore feature. Both are free! Worth of try!

hi manage to find solution for this? i have re flash my rom just want to correct the problem but it still not working. perhaps is there any log that we can check why it is not connecting?
Same problem here. After reflashing my phone yesterday (due to slowdowns and hanging apps) I noticed that sync of Google account is constantly failing. The reason is sync of Internet. No specific error is reported, other items are synced OK. I have Samsung Galaxy S II 4.0.3 ICS. Before it was OK.

its the sync settings in chrome!
In google chrome settings via a computer, There is a hyperlink to google dashboard. Go there and down to Chrome Sync, Reset and delete chrome data. Then in Chrome settings reset sync and do NOT set it to "encrypt all data" just use the fist option "encrypt with password",
Problem fixed.

[Q] [HELP] Not getting push notifications!!!

I followed steps in this thread almost to the letter (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909996) installed Gemini App Manager, BBS, LBE Security and Titanium Backup Pro to freez app. listed in this list (https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...1gdDJRekl4QmkyNmIzUmRvX2h3UDVkQXc&output=html) as SAFE to freez but I must have disabled something I don’t know what but I’m not getting push notifications from gmail app., fb messenger app., etc…. So if someone could tell me which process is controlling push services.
I'm on stock 4.0.4 ROM, rooted...
Baseband I9100XXLQ6, build nr. ...XWLPY
Thanks.

Thankyou, but didn't help. It seems that via mobile data, all that works is the browser, google play and facebook(without push). Gtalk, viber, teamviewer, mail, and any other push notifications just won't work.
Reedit: SOLVED!. After/before installing the FIX, Users should also check the access points used for internet service. My service provider has 3 access pint: Net, MMs, Wap. MMS was initialy selected, through that service, push and other servers are unavailable.

[Q] Play Store still shown as Market

Hey guys,
I got an HTC Jetstream as a gift recently and its lovely! I was successfully able to connect it to my WiFi and browse the internet and stuff but for some reason the Play Store is not available. It still has the old "Market" app which does not connect to the internet even if I put in my Google ID and password.
It comes back with an error stating my Internet connection is not reliable. However, I am able to download stuff and video HD quality YouTube videos. I am not able to log in to any Google apps as well.
What seems to be the problem?

Does it let you log into a Google service (i.e. Gmail) via a browser on the Jestream? If not then you might want to troubleshoot using Google Dashboard on a different computer.
Otherwise, this might be a time when performing a factory reset fixes things. Is losing all of your data acceptable?
Search google: google play apk download. Install the latest market app.
