cant make nor receive calls(rooted/stock rom) - Verizon LG G3

hello fellow XDA members ,
i know vzw was/is having issues in my area but some cellphones were fix by themselves . but mine has not . i can send txt mms and use internet . now my first actions while on LS lollipop was to factory reset , no work, did a clean install, still nothing. then i just went ahead and formated my fone and restored a back up of stock(root) rom. then i came to find out on my way home that it was a vzw issue not mine. okay well after a days work giving it 12hrs already still no signal .imei is intact and registered but no network and no imesv shows 00. after speaking to my bro he has stock S5 and his wife both got signal back and my moms(flip fone) as well . should i just go ahead and unroot it or should i just do a efs restore??? .. i want someones opinion(s) on this before i take the long road of unroot ,contacting vzw for assitance.
my location is California
thank you

Did an Unroot with KDZ method. Tot method wasn't working for me. And i got all signals back. Took me a while cuz it once middle of the night 2am. I had to do decent amount of reading. But after i did KDZ i couldn't go with ioroot for some reason it wasn't working with my fone. But went with Stumb root and now im golden.

Great, thanks for the info.

[RESOLVED, I HOPE] NO SIGNAL; Very desperate

UPDATE: So I just finished finals and drinking and have gotten around to my phone. I downloaded Galaxy S Unlock, but a beta version (it has a 'Signal Fix Problem' tab) that I was (and still am) and bit worried about. Well, my fears were quelled and I used it with an internet connection while on Bionix 1.3.1 and it didn't work on the initial reboot. Said the phone wasn't registering on the network. Didn't work on the second reboot. Didn't say anything, but data didn't work. I rebooted again and OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG it worked.
Glad to be back! Time for the latest CM7 nightly!

The quoted posts fully explain my issue.
UPDATE:

So I can confirm that the phone works for T-Mobile SIMs and gets 3g to boot. I relocked and unlocked my phone (both by manually changing the nv_data.bin and then with 'Galaxy_S Unlock'). Neither helped. In fact, Galaxy_S Unlock returned FFFFF as the SIM unlock code.
This leads me to believe that this is definitely not a hardware issue and definitely an issue with the EFS. I'm assuming that a proper EFS would not return a SIM unlock of 'FFFFF'.
If anyone has an intimate knowledge of our phones' EFS, please tell them that I need help in that regard. Or RIL, although I think RIL is in the EFS partition.
I'm on JFD via Odin and checked EFS Clear.

SUMMARY: I am currently bone-stock. JFD with root and nothing else. I usually get 3G (I live in the city) and excellent reception and speeds. Right now, I get good reception, but absolutely no data, nor can I call or text. It's stuck on GPRS and occasionally switches to EDGE for some reason, but it doesn't make a difference because I still can't call or text on either. IMEI shown in the settings matches that which is labeled behind the battery. My two fears are that the radio itself is somehow physically broken or that AT&T blocked my IMEI (tried other AT&T SIM cards and none of them would work). My SIM worked in other phones). Talked with an AT&T rep, he assured me that it is not AT&T's policy to ban IMEIs. Also, it may have to do with the EFS, but I'm not sure how to access it. Can't download ROM Manager right now because there's no WIFI around.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm pretty desperate right now. I'm borrowing a dumbphone and it's absolute torture to text on a 10-key num pad.

MAJOR PROBLEM:
So right after I left such a sterling recommendation of this kernel last night, I started listening to some music, hit pause, left the ear buds plugged in, and went to sleep.
I awoke this morning to no missed calls, no texts, no emails. I was confused and looked at the signal meter and saw a small 'x' next to the bars. I installed the new CM7 (from scratch), and my signal problems persisted.
I just used Odin to get back to JK2 (Froyo) and still I have NO SIGNAL!!! I normally have full bars.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I don't know if everything I wrote is significant, but hopefully the extraneous details could help someone give better insight into this issue.

Definitely not the SIM card. It works in other phones. I just wiped everything on the phone using CWM and the problem still persists. My fear is that the radio may have been in full-use all night without my knowledge and burned itself out. Although I'm not even sure if that's possible.
Strangely, I received 1 text message not too long ago. Couldn't reply, however; and still can't make/receive phone calls or access the internet.
Anyone aware of a way to do a complete reset of my phone? I don't think CWM and Odin are doing the trick. It needs to be absolutely bone-stock.

A simpler way is to:
1) odin to JFD with Repartition and efs clear checked and auto reboot UNCHECKED
2) unplug and replug usb then load ''Eugenes Froyo'' in PDA
3) Load same 512 file you used for JFD
4) Uncheck...auto reboot, repartition, and EFS clear
5) Hit start
6) when complete unplug the usb and plug it back in
7) load JFD and 512 pit into ODIN
8) Check repartition, efs clear and auto reboot
9) Hit start

Ok, you got me there. It doesn't do anything. Auto reboot has to be checked. Otherwise it just hangs at SetupConnection...
Thanks for the advice, but it didn't help.

Have you tried to flash another modem? or a factory reset? Have you toggled airplane mode and data connection? I had a very similar problem not too long ago. I flashed 4 or 5 roms and they all had the same problem. Flashed a few modems and nothing. Then I flashed one of Eugene's roms and it wiped my phone and it seemed to work after that. It could have been a coincidence, I'm not sure. I spent a whole day working on and it seemed to fix itself when it wanted to. Just keep flashing roms and tinkering and see what happens.

Thanks for the directions, but it didn't help
I've flashed many different modems. Tried KA7 and stock for 2.3; JK2 for 2.2; and JI5 for 2.1. Nothing helps. Does anyone know how I would go about checking my EFS partition if I had a root explorer? How would I know that it was normal? What symptoms would suggest a problem? I wouldn't be able to browse it right now, but I may be able to tomorrow.
@deadpass
Could you try a tad harder to recall which of Eugene's ROMs you used? I tried his JK2 base to no avail. Do you know if his 'Froyo that doesn't brick' is any different?

It was Eugene's 2.2.1 rom, GCR3.
Bumping. I hope everyone understands. Going from Android to a dumbphone (DURING FINALS, TOO) is terribly inconvenient and disheartening.
Looks like I'm giving up. I'm really busy with Finals and don't have time to learn everything required to figure out how to fix my phone. No one is informed enough about EFS or RIL to point me in the right direction. I've really enjoyed having this phone since August, and I'm definitely going to miss the ROMs and enthusiastic community. Not sure what to do now. I planned on keeping the Vibrant and selling whatever I upgrade to in August. Still going to have to sell, but I don't get to keep the Vibrant
Good luck with your Vibrants!
Before you give up, do you mind trying my Back to stock guide verbatim... it's in my signature. Would like some feedback. It certainly would not hurt. No reason I can see why we can't fix your phone.
Shoot, send it to me and I'll send it back if you can't find time.
Wait, so this will get you to stock JFD on the Vibrant... but you said you are on AT&T... are you unlocking it again after you go back to stock?
I do not do this, but first google result:

Hey! Kind of in awe to see you in my thread! Followed your guide ~10-15 time I had to flash. I've actually flashed via Odin probably 25-30 times since Saturday. Played with ALL the settings and your guide is good. No room for improvement!
Anyway, I've been using essentially the same procedure. Used Repartition and EFS clear on a few runs, but nothing different that I didn't intend to have a purpose. I used the files posted here; the MD5 sums check out.
People have been telling me it's a hardware problem (i.e. my modem is dead). While fully possible, I find it unlikely since I haven't seen a single dead modem post in any part of the Q&A, nor have I heard any suspicions of possibly failing modems. I could just be the lucky one, but again, that sounds unlikely.
Took my phone apart just to make sure all the connections are solid. SIM card board is securely connected to the antennae. Need to get an ammeter to ensure an electrical connection, though.

EFS contain network information like network lock, etc...
Good luck.

Thanks for replying. That's actually the thread I followed in order to pull the nv_data.bin and use Galaxy_S Unlock. But like I was saying, it's as though the EFS is not working properly. I pulled the nv_data.bin and it looked like the phone was already unlocked (I'm assuming it is, because it never asked me for the SIM unlock code). I changed the nv_data.bin to locked (by changing the hex value at 181469 from '00' to '01', after which it did begin asking for the SIM unlock code), then used Galaxy_S Unlock to unlock. I also tried to retrieve the unlock code using Galaxy_S Unlock and all I got were a bunch of F's, not what I was expecting.

I saw this great thread from BT... maybe someone has an answer in there.

I'll keep checking in to try and learn... EFS/unlocking is really not common to me, hopefully someone can chime in and well all learn something.

Dont use Galaxy_S unlock app. It gave me same bunch of F's.
Try unlocking again changing 01 to 00 and adb push.

Yeah, I did unlock it again but there's still an issue with AT&T SIMs. T-Mobile works fine, but AT&T SIMs don't work and it doesn't ask for an unlock code.

Hey guys...
I have a SGII (With a custom rom)
GT-I9100
Android version 4.0.3
Kernel version : 3.013-I9100XXKPG-CL45181
Build: MIUI-AdyScorpius_MIUI_v1
i'll get right down to the point,
This saturday morning when i turned on my phone i had no signal (no service)
That was kinda strange so rebooted my phone.
Re-inserted the simcard 12x.
Reboot.
Factory reset.
Erase ALL data.
Used my girlfriends simcard, got another simcard from T-mobile.
Ive tried all possible ways to get my signal back, no luck
and all this was on a perfectly legit SGII (no custom rom, no wacky apps nothing)
After i tried all of the above i started thinking about a custom rom to maybe fix my issue....
so i rooted my phone,
CF-Root-SGS2_CE_XEN_KI2-v4.2-CWM4 <-- version for me.
put custom firmware on it as described above. i did a million resets but nothing works.
I really need this phone to work as i have no spares left. i also looked on XDA fo similiar threads but i cant find my problem.
Wanted to flash my modem software aswell but unfortunatly the filehosts brought them all down and i can't find that as well.
My simcard works in my girlfriend's phone so it's definatly the simscard slot.
I'm allways SOOO carefull with my phone, i never dropped it once. also no water damage.
Just one day it works. the next you wake up and it's gone.
did you check the "EFS" folder? is it there 1st? if not regardless of the sim and sim slot you wont get any signals.

The EFS folder does not contain any data.
the folder itself exists though.
EDIT: Okay so i'm stupid. i read into the whole thing and by flashing my rom i probably ruined every inch of my phone.
DE EFS folder is empty,
i don't have any backup. i'm reading into articles about resolving this issue but haven't found anything usefull for my situation.
If you have any thoughts on how to resolve this issue, as i (of course have my original IMEI) Can i take another SGII and copy the EFS contents, modifying my own email or can i still restore the Imei. my stomache is really turning now.
And how can i have lost my efs before i even rooted/flashed my phone.
this is all really bizare.

[Q] can't send sms...!!

Hello fellas am new owner of this note at&t version. I have it working with straight talk.. work flawless for 2 weeks no problems what so ever until I started removing some application with a uninstaller which also remove system application.. anyway suddenly I couldn't send just txt " SMS".. I do received incoming SMS and mms and I also can send mms.. but for some reason I can't do the SMS.. well. I installed new roms different version ics. Ginger bread and so on and it's the same thing. No outgoing SMS.. I did full wipe in every rom. What I noticed that cww everything that I go to advance options and hit clean cache dalvik won't do it.. keep saying that extension it's an error or something like that.. any clue guys will help Mr a lot.. I have an evo 4g for 2 years and I have never come across with problem like these.. ty for ur help
Well i would say you could always go back to stock and it will add back the APK you deleted that stopped the mms sending.
are you on ICS?
are one of the apk's you deleted the OmaCP.apk - i know that can cause issues with the sms/mms side of your phone.
in the future before you start deleting/removing apks from your phone go into your system/app and copy that whole folder somewhere on your phone or your PC and will always be able to get back the apk that is causing the issues.
thats just my 2 cents.
i was thinking about go back to stock.. and the answer is no, i didnt delete the app that u mentioned.. and thanks for the advice of back up the sys folder.. i have never had a problem b4.. but ****ing up is the way u learned the hard way.

didn't work.. everything is back to stock. i used odin and the stock att Rom. the phone is like a virgin again and keep doing the same. now ill swap the sim card with my friend tomorrow. maybe is the account... damn it.....!!!!!
Well after checking firmware n updates I noticed after I went back to stock rom. The kernel is. 2.6.35.11 and nothing else.. so I was reading to get back to root but I need more number s and letters on that kernel in order to get root.. maybe just maybe it's the modem version or the kernel screwing my SMS and mms... Any one knows how to check the modem version and how I can get the right kernel...? I tried superoneclick 2.3.3 to put my note
back to root but after 2 tries got stuck on step 7 for about 15-20 minutes so I need another method.. and the other methods asked for the full kernel version... Any idea or help it's appreciate

So you went back to stock GB??
and are still having the same sms issues?
have you messed with any of the APN settings on the phone. and also have you tried a thridparty app to run your messaging. like go sms or handsent to see if you can send them going through that app?
and if you want to root on GB, go download Da G's OC kernel it comes with Root, just flash it through Odin. he also has a kernel with no OC and just root if you dont like to OC....there in the Dev section.
or move to ICS and ALL of the roms come with Root. i would be less concerend with root and more worried about getting your sms going....rooting is simple.

no I haven't messed around with apn and I tried go SMS and itsvthe same thing.. I went back to stock gb with stockatt. Tar. And it was the same thing.. i was reading on other threads that many ppl are not able to send SMS or MMS. This has something to do with radio or modems. But they are stating that some of SMS or mms are not going thru.. I also installed via cwr the zip with the stock radio and nothing.. it's the same problem.. I'm running out of patience and option here..!! I also put it back on root to keep trying something different and still no luck...
This what I tried yesterday... I swap a sim card with another att note user... With the att sim card on my note I was able to send mms and SMS.. and the other note had the same problem with my sim Card he was not able to send txt or mms . so I call customer service and they run all the test possible from their end and everything seem good.. (over an hour on the Ph) so I told them about my sim swapping and they decided to send me a new sim card.. just n case mine was faulty.. hope this fix my problem. I'll keep updates as soon as I get my new sim .

that would be a good thing, if the whole time it was just your sim card.....easier fix than trying to track down an unknown problem in the phone itself.
hope it works out spider.
I had the same problem when I was running GB with a couple of the roms out there. I never had it happen in ICS but I believe it was related to freezing some of the ATT bloat since that is when I would start running into problems.
Ok.. I got my new sim card today.. I installed and works. . Yes mms and sms are up and running..i don't want to blame the Rom. but something happen right after the installation.. Good new is that my phone is up n running. .!!!!

Mobile Network not available - 4.4

I have a i605 with Verizon. It's rooted and I've been running Jellybeans 22 (4.1) since August. Saturday I decided to install the new 4.4 with CyanogenMod 11 which just came out. I goofed and installed the 7100 copy (I think it was 7100, started with a 7). I got a no service message which makes sense. Ok Mark, what's next dumbass? lol so I got the right version and installed it, and still didn't get service. So then I rolled it back to the image I made before I started this whole thing and still no service? I read other postings and checked for phone number and IMEI which are populated. ERI version is 5. I also keep getting a message asking me to go to a GLOBAL setting which doesn't help either. I tried pulling the SIMS card and rebooting. The instructions said to put the card back in while rebooted but the power supply blocks that. Soo.... do I try to get my stock installed or is there other things I can try.. There's this cute chick who likes me and if I can't text her I might never get laid!!!! (I wish )
I also had the same problem of baseband and imei showing unknown but I was able to fix it.
thanks,

Should I unroot the phone and go back to stock to see if it corrects the issue? Will I need to accept an OTA?

I would do what hopesrequiem suggested. If you are using TWRP to flash CM11 you wont have data. You have to use CWM 6.0.4.3 for some odd reason.

what Went South was I couldn't make phone calls or text. Even after restoring 4.1 Rom. I didn't have issue with data. But to answer my own question. . I fixed my issue by restoring my stock Image and then used setup / backup / factory reset. That did it. When I restored 4.1 it was working again. Thanks for the info on cwm version.
Well im glad all is well now!

Cloudy g3 wasn't built to flash onto a sprint g3, nowhere in cloudy g3s post does it mention ls990 or sprint support.
Did you make a nandroid backup including the efs within it?
Hi.
I made just a backup from twrp.
But when i restore that i getting com.android popups...

I see,
Looks like ls990 support was just added.
It's buggy from the support section I see for it. You need to restore your nandroid backup of your stock firmware. Did you include efs in your backup?
I wouldn't install this rom again until it is confirmed sprint variant is functional. It's very common for developers to add cdma variant support and have signal issues because there is a lot to account for sometimes.
That is so su*@s...
I made a backup from TWRP.
But when a restore i get a com.android poos'ups.
Is ther anything to do in iin order to unlock it again?
I'm not at the states!
I feels so bad...wannnna cry.
If its anything like how it was on the G2 you have to edit the buildprop and change the carrier option to spr or SPR

I experimented with this and after editing the build proper it still didn't let me do mobile data or voice. I followed the guide to the T and it still had a red x. Not sure what voodoo you have to perform to make it work but in my opinion the rom is hardly sprint compatible if I have to go through all that to be able to make phone calls and have data(it's a phone, I mean c'mon).
Try flashing different modems. I don't see how that would be the issue but was also something I had to do to get cloudy to work. But in my case i had to use KitKat modem with Jb base to run the g3 ROM on my g2. It was a mess. I like cloudys Roms but they are always a pain in the ass to get working on anything but gsm. Also for some Roms we had to use a modified modem for a lot of Roms. Maybe that's the case here. We just need someone to modify our g3 modem to work with other roms
The g3 has had like 2-3 updates since its release. See if you can extract the modem from the different releases and see if you have better luck
OK so I had the same issue yesterday took about 5 hours to fix but don't worry it's fixable. So download another ROM I used Barrens (still using it actually very nice ROM). Try getting to the carrier folder (its root directory) and yes you will be having phone force closing constantly but you can get there, once there go in to apps subfolder. There you should find 2 files they go something like "node.db" and node-journal.db can't recall exact names but copy them and back them up to your SD card. Now go into recovery, go into wipe menu, then format system, cache, dalvik cache, and data. Just to be safe, I like doing a factory reset wipe after in recovery but it isn't necessary more of a habit. Flash the Barrens ROM. Set it up and you may still not be getting signals and have a no Sim icon. If so, go to the 2 files that you backed up and replace them with the ones that were auto generated after flashing ROM. Make sure permissions are set correctly. Then reboot. You should have signal back. O I forgot to add I also restored the efs backup I had made with the whole nandroid not sure if that was needed but that in itself wasn't enough to get rid of the force closes hence the procedure mentioned above.
This whole process needs to be done after you have restored your nandroid though I think as that is the only way to confirm that the files in the carrier/app folder are the original ones and not some new auto regenerated files. So work past the constant force closes. I'm also using my phone internationally and had it officially unlocked by Sprint then took it off the account so while for others who are still on Sprint, all they have to do is update their profile/prl in settings and it's painless and fast for them. We don't have that luxury however, at least don't have to overpay for crappy slow service from such a joke of a company though.
I'll attach the files that I have just in case yours got corrupted, use mine as a plan B option, as I'm not sure if mine will work on your specific device.

Just want to step in and say thanks to both you guys for helping this guy...I don't know him, but I do remember a time when the forums were flooded with this..this kind of heart. Not begging for thanks. Just the eagerness to help. Neither of you said anything negative. You just offered help. Your sig isnt begging a trade off for helping. For that I thank you.:thumbup:
