the search button on previous firmware or even just checking previous pages to these forums there are several discussing all of which you require, past the first page just the Q & A section of these forums contain 32 pages of of threads containing similar product information ..each of which contain several pages of reading.I'm sure of which you will find your answers. Good luckand by the time you do you will be a pro on this device.

I have the exact same question. Amazon rolled it back to 13.3.2.7. Is there any methods for this as I have looked and looked and there seems to be nothing. Should I just return it and forget about Android on this tablet?

hi some advice for a new owner

hi guys i am now a proud owner or a HTC hero on orange uk
the questions i have are this
im on the latest update from HTC them self for the orange network should i change this to a generic firmware, if so what one do you all recommend ?
why is my market place so empty i cant find alot of apps as in the the 1clickroot app ect ?
what is the best way of enabling root account on this mobile?
thanks in advance guys and gals
As far as I know, the only other option you have for a different ROM is the MoDaCo custom ROM. This is because HTC asks for your phone serial number before letting your download one of the official ROMs (as you probably found yourself on their website), and they know which phones were shipped to Orange or not. You'll find MoDaCo's ROM in a sticky in the Android Development section of the Hero forums.
It's possible this 'one click root' application has been removed from the market, as I think that officially they don't like people getting root access. The easiest way to get root though is to install the custom rom mentioned above. Just make sure you read through the various posts so you know what the problems with the latest release might be.

Not strictly true - MoDaCo has repacked "vanilla" HTC and carrier updates, in update.zip format, so you can apply them without going through the RUU process.
However, this does rely on having a Hero that hasn't already been patched to the new HBOOT and kernel that prevent such updates being applied.

Dave

I don't think the market is empty as such, I find the search is not that good e.g. searching '1clickroot' and '1 click root' will return different results.
As for rooting, look in the android dev section there are guides, I have seen one had videos in it which was more helpful.

[Q] Getting Ad-Hoc wifi to work

Hi folks,
I purchased a Tab 8.9 in the US, and I've rooted it using mramirezusa's guide. I now need to get it working with ad-hoc networks so I can tether it to my Galaxy S2. I gather that I need to replace the wpa_supplicant file to enable this.
Most of the guides I have seen refer to the Tab 10.1 (and v), so my main question is really, what particular guide have any of the 8.9 owners here used themselves successfully? I saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1083182&page=4 and on this page I particularly like the sound of the instructions on post 35 (as it avoids faffing with adb which I've never used before!). The only thing that I'm not sure of is WHAT wpa_supplicant file to use. In other words, are there different versions? Would the version attached to that thread be fine to use for the 8.9?
Many thanks for your help!
EDIT: Just seen that the 10.1 forum has a thread for 8.9 questions. I'll also look in there to see if anyone has the same question.
look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309677
Thanks for taking the time to answer, but I don't want to go down the ROM route just yet, until we have nandroid backup available. I'll feel more comfortable just dealing with the wpa_supplicant file for now. Anyone got any further pointers to my original questions?
Cheers.

Actually, I only looked at the first few words and I saw the word ROM, and I ran away haha. But looking again it seems it's not a ROM at all. Can you clarify exactly what it is?? And is the OP saying that by applying this zip file all of those listed APKs will be automatically removed? As there's actually things in that list that I would like to keep...
Alternatively, if someone can direct me to a wpa_supplicant file they know works with the 8.9, then I'd be happy to take a punt with the instructions in the thread I mentioned in my first post. Ta.
that's no rom. take a look in the zip and you will find a wpa_supplicant file you can apply

So I can just extract the file from that zip and use it for my shenannigans? Excellent! Thanks very much for your help!

[Q]Rooted Note+Warranty.Did Reset Counter.How 2 Pull Batt @ 50% Firmware Update?

Thanks Guys!
I finally figured it out! My phone is not Rooted, running stock ICS, With a flash coutner of 0!
I ended up getting Kies, emergency firmware update to work. Full the full details go to this link!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31720867#post31720867
Just wanted to update my thread, I hate it when people do not post the end result lol.
All of this to return a device to stock ???
My friend ....
Look at the top of the general section ....
There you will find a thread called ...."galaxy note super everything thread"
Scroll down the first post in the thread until you reach the " return to stock " sub section.
There you will find 3 different and confirmed methods ....
Read them, then read again ....
The methods are simple and effective .....g
And at the end of those three methods your counter will be zero.
I made things much harder than they needed to be!
I finally got it figured out! This is my first week of android, but I really like the flexibility of it. I just find iOS boring now days. I had an Iconia tablet a while back, I eventually gave it to my mom, but I never realized the capability of the OS till spending the weekend messing with rooting etc.
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read my thread.
I edited it to reflect how I solved the problem, and put a link to the Kies Emergency Firmware Recovery thread, in case anyone finds themselves in my situation (I also explained exactly how I got it to work on the last post of page 9, the method seems to have changed a little bit since the original post) .
I'm glad it all worked out for you !
Great work ...g

Root Z380C and misleading Google results.

Hello,
I am trying to root and install Marshmallow on a Zenpad z380C, which uses a different processor from the Z380KL.
Following the advice on this forum, I googled Root and the model (in various formats). The searches mostly lead to sites that look like scams - some of them even claim to have gleaned their info and roms from XDA!
I am still looking to root and a marshmallow rom.

Have fun, and please post results.

Need some assistance for a friend

Ok so months ago, I sold my buddy my Honor 5x. It at the time had a custom rom, kernel was still based on android 5.X from stock. Now my friend wants to know how he can restore to a nand from 5.x, retuen to stock, grab the 6.X update and what ever updates are around on stock, reflash custom recovery and go on linage os.
I didn't see any links referring to tools or old roms so if anyone could help me out, that be awesome because i have to rewrite instructions with libks to send back to him.
Again i need the 5.x (before 6.0 update) nandroid so he can restore back to stock for updates

There is a very useful function called 'search bar' which is located on the top right of web page.
Here is the link, it will take you to "Honor 5X Guide..." section, locate the specific thread that may help you.
