Hey guys,
I'm running the latest stock 4.4.4 firmware on my sgp 321 and wonder if it's possible to somehow customize the bottom dock (where the "back", "home" and "recent apps" buttons are located). I'd like to move the buttons to the left side of the screen again (as in 4.1.2), so I can reach them better with my thumb.
Device is rooted. I already tried "seraj Xperia xposed" and "gem Xperia xposed" from the xposed installer without success. Anybody knows if there is a way (except using another launcher)?
Thanks in advance!

Hello guys,
this is my first post here so far and since there is no Q&A area for the ray, I hope it's OK to ask here.
On my Xperia Ray I'm currently running RayOniumICSv.5 which is essentially a modded Stock ICS with the usual Xperia interface.
I'd like to change the layout from the phonebook, either preferably the way it looked like on 2.3.4/ GB with the four seperate buttons on the lower edge
or like on the Xperia S with still only three button on the lower edge, however with a direct button for favourite contacts.
I already tried something similar with the keyboard. Since I prefer the old, grayish I simply copied the textinput-tng.apk and overwrote the old, which worked well so far.
Trying the same with the Phonebook.apk unfortunately didn't worked out. ICS essentially accepted both (I unpacked them from different ROMs), however both times with flaws: The GB Version turned out to work, yet the typepad section seemed to be flawed and unable to use. Using the Xperia S version, no call logs were displayed.
Is there any other possibility to redesign it?
I prefer the old layout the most because of the seperate buttons and especially because the favourite or starred contacts were directly accessible where in the ICS layout you have to go there over Groups -> Favourites. Another reason as well is the old list layout which is more assessable than the newer with (rather clunky) icons.
Thank you in advance!
Hi All!
I recently sold my S2 to a friend who is coming from a broken iPhone 4.
He had his iPhone 4 jailbreak'd, and he requires the following tweaks in the "android" world:
iPhone 4 Tweak:
SpringFlash - a tweak that allows an assignment of a gesture or physical button to activate the iPhone's camera's flash as a flashlight - in his case, he would press down iPhone's power button and the flashlight will turn on/off. Now, for his Galaxy S2, he currently installed Market (Google Play) App- a flashlight widget , however, he wants to know if he can assign a gesture or physical button to activate that on his android phone ?
InfiniteDock - a tweak that allows dock icons, to infinitely scroll left or right, adding applications/folders - on the S2, he has the stock icons (phone, message, e-mail and internet -- or whatever he assigns too) ... now, I was looking into some launchers ... Launcher Pro, Go Launcher ... which one would you guys recommend ?
Just as an FYI, he currently has CheckROM V4 installed, I believe that is at Android version 2.3.6 or 2.3.7 - - CheckROM is now updated to V6, but I still think it is still Gingerbread based build, correct me if I am wrong.
He is thinking about going to either Lightn' Rom (which the latest is based on Android 4.0.4) or the CheckROM V6 ... Please advice which ROM and tweaks he should go for that incorporates the iPhone tweaks he is looking for ...
Thanks!
Install any custom launcher like go launcher, adw launcher.(launcher pro is outdated)
1. use the swype gestures to turn on torch
2.same launcher has option to infinite scrolling in dock
do post the question in Q & A section next time
Thanks...
Thanks, I'll look into it.
the resurrection remix (currently at 1.7) allows you to set up 'long press power while on the lockscreen' and get a flashlight
and most launchers can use scrolling docks - im using a program called simifolder widget - it gives iphone style folders anywhere, so setup about 20 apps for a folder and in the dock bar click it and get a nice scrollable popup
use apex launcher pro it has swipe gestures

If you would have read the OP carefully you would find out that his friend is running gingerbread and he can't install Apex.
He can also add some toggles to the notification bar if he don't have them.

Thanks again...
Hi Again,
I actually helped him upgrade to 4.0.4 (custom OMEGA rom).
We are using APEX launcher, and he is fairly happy with it. Prior to reading the forum, I didn't know about the remix ROM able to have the delay-touch gesture of the power button...I was wondering if that is available on the OMEGA ROM - Black Blue ICS Theme v11.1 or v11.2 (something).
Thanks!
P.S. what is the technical term behind the resurrection remix's rom feature - "set up long press power while on the lockscreen" function? is it common among android custom-based ROMs?
Hi guys,
I was wondering if there is a mod to use the multi windows from original note 2 rom to new 4.3 roms. The reason is the keyboard. In old roms when you had two apps running and wanted to write something in one of the windows, the keyboard appeared as a floating mini window. In note 3 the keyboard is the standard half-screen application and when it is needed it nearly fully covers one of the two window apps. This ruins IMHO the functionality of the multi window capability. What do you think?

There's an option in the new 4.3 sammy keyboard where you can change your keyboard layout to either floating, normal or one handed by pressing and holding the key besides symbols key.

You are my man :good: !!! Thank you! I didn't know.
Hello,
I've been holding off upgrading to Android 5 or newer and have been sticking to Android 4.3 because I plainly do not like how the icons and graphics for Android 4.4 and up looks like. Would it be possible to make Android 5.x look exactly like Android 4.3? Perhaps with a skin?
For example, the shape of the Back, Home and Switch Window icons at the bottom of the screen, the position of the Quick Settings in the Notification Panel, the shape and icon design of the Wi-Fi and Cellular signal strength and so on.
I have my Sony Stock Android 4.3 Rooted, which allows me to apply security fixes (ie. disabling Stagefright in build.prop) and installing permissions managers but I think as Android 4.3 ages more and more exploits would be possible against it. So I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade to Android 5x and then skin it to look and feel like 4.3.
Thank you!

That's a very weird thing to do, but alright.
First of all, any reason why you're not on 4.4.4? That's the last KitKat version. Heck, 4.3 isn't even KitKat! It's Jelly Bean, so you're two versions behind. KitKat looks the same as Jelly Bean and runs much better than Jelly Bean.
Second, you can change the navigation buttons (the three buttons at the bottom) by either using an Xposed module or by installing an app (just google "change android navbar icons".
Third, you can also flash CM12.1 and use a theme. You won't find a theme that looks like the old Sony UI, because why would anyone make that, but you can theme it to look like anything else than stock Lollipop.
Fourth, you can stay on 4.4.4 and have a rather big issue at hand once you have to buy a new device It's not like Google will revert the design, so the best thing to do is to start liking it, or move to a different OS.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I've been trying some builds here and there, such as Cyanogenmod and Blisspop, I just have to use 5.x for a few days I guess.
What ROMs would you recommend that doesn't have broken features? Right now I'm using Sony Stock 5.1.1 and rooted it using the Kingroot app and replaced that with SuperSU.

The most stable ones are of course the official ones, so the one you're already running and the GPe port are the most stable ones. Also, I guess you can simply use a theme on the ROM you're running right now. Take a look here if you haven't already.
Bro just use lp with nova launcher
Hi,
I bought this chinese box (z28), but im having some issues (nova launcher keeps crashing, and some other apps like mizuu).
Plus i cant get notification bar and nav bar to work.
Does anyone know a way to fix both of this problems?
Another question (possible work around) does anyone know of a ROM that is compatible with this box?
Best regards,
