usb to ethernet driver
Hi friends,
I just joined this forum. I would like to learn and contribute down the road
I am following this thread to enable my samsung android phone do usb to ethernet
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039886
I copied the smsc75xx.ko generated by Brandi into system/lib/modules folder. But when i tried to do insmod or modprobe to load the driver, this is what i get
[email protected]:/system/lib/modules # insmod smsc75xx.ko
insmod: can't insert 'smsc75xx.ko': invalid module format
uname -r returns the following kernel version
3.0.8-perf-T769UVLH5-CL990184
Can you please help me compile for this kernel version? or suggest alternative paths to solve this issue.
I am completely new to android world. Please guide me step by step with examples.
Best Regards,

Hey, that driver was build for the asus tf201. You need to recompile it with a buildchain using your current kernel.
Greets!

Hi Brandi.
Thanks for your response. Could you guide me where to get the buildchain for my compiler? I googled for 3.0.8-perf-T769UVLH5-CL990184 tool but there are no results.
Can you get me started in the android kernel land?
Thanks

Heyho. I don't know how much you are into linux hacking, but this might help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236576
To say it in short, what you need is your kernels sourcescode (you should get them from your vendor, or the guy how built it here, if it is custom)
and the sourcecode of the ASIX AX88**** driver (e.g. this one https://github.com/MarkLuk/USB_Ethernet_DriverPack)
I don't really know right now what hardware you really have, but you should be able to find the specifications in the wiki.
I would give you my old setup, but I lost it in a hdd crash about a year ago
I hope this helps you at least a little.
greets.

not working
Hi, i have been compiling the source for 918D many times with different configurations ,but cannot get it to boot the generated kernel(zImage) after repacking with android kitchen, the only thing i get is a bootloop, or a freez on the android logo, please help.

That because they tend to both the source code so people can't build kernels
#
# Automatically generated make config: don't edit
# Linux kernel version: 2.6.35.7
# Tue Dec 16 15:53:27 2014
Well, I had to download the entire ALPS build environment.
Then download your devices kernel and build it using build.sh , after configuring the environment in the kernel dir.
Afterwards copy the generated kernel...bin file into the baoxue_mytqe-master/kernel/ dir and rename it to kernel_baoxue.bin
then run
./target_build bootimage
you will get your boot.img in /baoxue_mytqe-master/out/target/product/baoxue/boot.image
that's all, I did , but i'll have to look into it deeply to understand what is going on.
Any am a little dissappointed that nobody showed how to do this, or even offered to help.
But I guess the best way is the hardway , compiling it a hundred times, only to figure out that arm-android-eabi doesn't work I found this after trying the original arm-eabi-
But now am

Hi
You should follow instruction guide from CyanogenMod, for example for unsupported devices in order to install repro files. This is the correct way to deal with our repository.
It seams, from what you've wrote, that you're trying to mix a G2 with our own roms. That's different.
The Lenovo sources are kk.
Personally i've tried last 2 weeks but always get stuck on the exact moment when the phone should enter and a few bricks along the way and to be honest this week i never try again due to work.
Camera drivers
Hi!
Can you do something to get the Camera drivers (proprietary camera libs and so on), so the new camera APIs on Android 5.1 work (such as manual focus, exposure, etc.)?

A hopless try of quality sound
Hi guys!
This is the fourth device I'm tying to kill. But it also wins for now.
I wanted (still hope) to listen music with Fiio E07K DAC over USB.
I've got:
HTC Desire X dual PROTODUG
2.28.401.1 rom
4.1.1 android
3.4.0--ge781ba0 kernel
I've compiled snd-hwdep snd-rawmidi snd-usbmidi-lib snd-usb-audio
They load. When Im connecting one of three USB DACs it reboots with Kernel Panic Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address.
And now I'm out of fresh ideas. May be there is a little help here plaese before I through it. Thanks -)
I'm going to try this kernel. But by doing some reading about flashing kernels I really want to confirm some things before attempting to do this.
1. Is this kernel compatible with HTC desire X single sim running jelly bean stock ROM
2. Can I flash this kernel from twrp recovery.
3. Has it got OTG Support.
4. Can I revert back to stock if anything bad occurs.
Also what is the difference between this kernel and infinity kernel v7
Thanks

I seek your professional help
First let me congratulate you for all your professional work by opening the knowledge windows for all of us !
I have a serius problem with my Spreadtrum 6820 s9002-b phone.
I've damaged my Android operating system by editing the "build.prop" file for "Fun Fake android version" (yes... that was stupid) I only edited the Android version line from 4.2,1 to 4..4, now when I turn on the device it freezes at the android icon all the time.
My phone doesn't have recovery or fastboot mode, only system test. I've found a stock ROM but, I'm not able to flash it because I can't put it in "USB debug mode" because the phone doesn't boot up.
How can I repair my device? is it death? Am I a device widower?
Thanks for help
PD: I'm sorry for my english
