So ever since I did a wipe and flash last week of the CyanogenMod 11 nightly, I haven't been able to send/receive MMS messages. If someone sends me something, I'll get a message saying that they sent me something but it cannot be downloaded. From what I could tell, it could be my APN settings. I've tried a bunch of different things, the main two being what's shown on this webpage, and the following (default) settings:
Name: Verizon Internet
APN: VZWINTERNET
MCC: 311
MNC: 480
APN Type: default,dun,supl
APN protocol:: IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol:: IPv4/IPv6
Now sometimes MMS will work, but take FOREVER to download. Other times, it just doesn't download. This is becoming really frustrating since I use group messages a lot to keep in touch with distant friends.
Could someone be able to help me out and tell me what I'm missing? This is becoming a huge inconvenience. Any help would be much appreciated!

So I know this seems to be an issue but cant seem to find a straight answer.
I got my vibrant a few days ago and do not know what rom I am running. I am using Tmobile and I am able to recieve MMS's blurry, and I can not send them. However I updated the APN settings to these
Name: Simple
APN: simple
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://smpl.mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Aunthentication type: PAP
APN type: internet + mms
Now when I performed this last night working station 3.I was using wifi calling and all of a sudden was able to send MMS no problem. I left and was on regular network and still I could send...no matter what I still recieved blurry ones. I woke up today and went to work at station 4. I again could not send MMS's at all (was on wifi calling and tried normal network). I came back to station 3 and still could not send MMS. I checked my APN settings to make sure nothing changed, and alas it did not. I am on the wifi calling here. I retried and sure enough I can send...I changed nothing and am on wifi calling and when I was at station 4 this morning I was on wifi calling and it didnt work, and i tried on the regular network and it didnt work.
Sometimes I get a general "fail to send", while others I get "error connecting to the network"
My question is why is it working now after i checked the settings and changed nothing.? and how can I find what version and kind of ROM I am running?
Regardless of which I am finding a lot of topics, but cant seem to find a fix for both the blurry issue and not being able to send MMS.
Thanks guys for the understanding and cooperation this whole droid thing is new to me after being a blackberry head. I love the phone but I am still new to this whole thing, I am wish I knew how to update my kernel (if I knew what version or type of a ROM I am running).
I feel burnt out from pondering this all day.
Hello everyone, this is a troubleshooting request.
The problem: My Galaxy S2 data connection drops frequently after my first root
My Galaxy S2 was the first phone I rooted, and needless to say… I’ve learned a lot. After about 2 months of using a rooted kernel and a ROM from XDA developers, I’ve had a consistent problem I can’t solve on my own. I’ve gone through about 5-6 different ROM’s and probably 15-20 modems and the problem is always the same: my data connection dies frequently because I cannot use the proper APN settings. The connection indicator will simply disappear and in Settings > About Phone > Status, the service state will show “out of service”. It lasts about 30 seconds before I assume the connection resets and it comes back.
Why I think it happens: When I was researching prior to rooting, nothing anywhere ever mentioned APN’s. I assume the settings are pretty much automatic for most carriers? I don't think that’s the case for my carrier: DOCOMO PACIFIC. After rooting, I was able to make phone calls and text but my data didn’t work at all for days. I copied APN settings from 3 different friends with S2’s with no success. I even took it to a DOCOMO tech and had him check the APN settings and verified them as correct. Out of sheer frustration, I started leaving out random items in the APN settings and it began working (albeit poorly).
I am able to get a connection if I just put in “gcpos” as the APN and nothing else, but the connection drops frequently. These are the settings that I use:
Name: Docomo Pacific
APN: gcpos
MCC: 310 (automatic)
MNC: 470 (automatic)
The settings that I’m SUPPOSED to be using are:
Name: Docomo Pacific
APN: gcpos
Proxy: 209.4.229.82
Port: 9201
MMSC: ht tp://mmsc.guamcell.csky.us:6672/ (Had to break up prefix due to posting restrictions)
MMS Proxy: 209.4.229.82
MMS Port: 9201
MCC: 310
MNC: 470
APN Type: internet + mms
The problem is as soon as I put those settings in, data will not work at all. I can make phone calls and text, but anything internet won’t work. So what gives? Does anyone know why it does this?
I botched my ROM backup, so I cannot revert to the previous ROM/modem and obviously no tech will probably touch it because my warranty is void. Even using stock ROMs and stock modem still gives me the same problems. It’s usable in its current state, but the problem irritates me to no end. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!
Silly question but have you asked your phone service provider to send the settings? Unless smartphones are radically different to non-smartphones they should support receiving Service Settings via SMS Text Message from your provider.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I did call them up and all they did was read back the settings I already had. I found a website that lists their alternate APN settings too, but still no dice...
I'm absolutely certain I'm using the correct APN settings because I've gotten the same settings from about 5 different sources and put them in about 30 times. The problem seems to be that the correct settings simply will not work.
Heya guys,
I've been going through quite a few different roms, trying to get MMS functioning properly, however without much luck.
Currently my best "workaround" is to be close to a wifi and have wifi enabled and send, or the other option to disable the data APN and make the mms APN default.
My Carrier requires me to use 2 APN's in order to get MMS and data working.
Has anyone found a solution for getting around this ?
My apn settings:
Data:
Code:
Name: Internet
APN: internet
MCC: 238
MNC: 02
APN type: default,internet
MMS:
Code:
Name: MMS
APN: telenor
MMSC: http_:_/_/_mms.telenor.dk (i have under 10 posts so cant post links, i have added "_"'s to go around this.)
MMS proxy: 212.88.64.8
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 238
MNC: 02
APN type: mms
i am required to be on the telenor APN in order to connect to the MMS proxy, i have tried being on the internet apn, however i get connection refused.
Well i guess i should state what i am currently using.
I am currently using mimicry 1.5.0 on a HTC desire Z works great except for the obvious M.MS problem.
I have a thread in the desire z forum, however since i beleive this issue is not just related to my actual phone, i thought a broader audiance could help with this.
bumping the thread, i guess i posted this thread a bit outside the useual active times, got completely burried.
Latest update, MIUI has this problem fixed in their ICS build, however their build is a bit too unstable on my phone (reboots all the time)
maybe if someone knows an app or maybe even a script etc that can ie change APN settings apon mms receive and send, and change it back after its sent/downloaded, i could live with such a workaround without complaining.
I have also written to my carrier in hopes of they can provide me with a single APN setting for both data and mms (i think they already have one, but since my rom does not have support for auto config of apn's apon msg recieve from carrier i am unable to enable it.)
If someone knows of a tool that can help handle this, i am willing to give it a try.
My phone is of cource rooted, would not have it any other way
bumping again, nobody with a suggestion ?
Another bump, in the hope of someone knowing a solution.
bump again, still no luck on this end.
Hello all,
I just recently got the Xperia Z2 and tried sending/receiving MMS picture messages with WiFi on at home and found that it will not go through until I turn it off. I'm currently in the States using the T-Mobile US network. As soon as I turn off WiFi, or if I'm out and about using my phone without WiFi on, I find that the MMS picture messages go through like normal, both receiving and sending. Is anyone having any issues with this that's on the US T-Mobile network, and are there any fixes to this? I haven't contacted T-Mobile yet but I've read a few other forums and it looks like other Android users are running into the same problem. I just haven't seen it brought up on the Xperia phones.
Here's some information on my phone:
- Stock D6503 (Taiwan version that came with the noise canceling headphones & magnetic charging dock)
- 4.4.2 Kit Kat
- Version 17.1.A.2.69
- Has not been rooted, bootloader has not been touched
- Using the stock Messaging app that was installed (Although I also tried downloading the SMS Messaging (AOSP) by Sylvain Galand in the Play Store and it didn't work either)
- MMS auto download & MMS when roaming are both on under the Messaging settings
APN settings were downloaded under the Wireless & networks > Internet Settings > T-Mobile US
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mms.msg.english.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: Not set
MMS Port: Not set
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: None
APN Type: default,supl,a-gps,mms
APN protocol: IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Some other users are saying that their phones will send MMS messages if they enable WiFi calling, but I have not seen that feature included in our Xperia Z2's.
Source: http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/56934
I also read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2724390 and this http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1979 with no solution so far.
I guess I could always just turn off the WiFi when sending or receiving MMS messages but I just wanted to ask the community if there was a fix for this.
I generally don't post questions in these forums as I try to dig around as much as possible before posting. Any help or tips would greatly be apprecaited!
Change your APN protocol from IPv6 to IPv4/IPv6

Thank you so much! Who knew the solution was that simple! I just tried it and was able to send and receive MMS picture messages while connected to WiFi. Thanks again! :good:
I just switched my verizon phone to straight talk. Im finding out one of the things thats saving me money is terrible customer support...
So I have an S5 SM-G900V running 4.4.2 unlocked.
So I switch to straight talk and everything is great. Same exact service as verizon for half the price. The next day I get a text that my data plan has been updated from 5 gb to 8 gb. They told me this would happen. Now when they switch my plan over they also reflashed my APN and broke my data/MMS. Get on the web google a little bit download a couple things and within an hour Ive got the APN properly working and data going just fine. Next day I try to send someone a picture via text and realize I cant receive or send MMS'. Get back on google tonight to configure the texting an APN settings and for the life of me I cant get it to work. Ive tried numerous old and new MMSC's proxies, ports, etc. I managed to get my downloading working but uploading refuses to play nice.
My APN reads as follows right now.
APN: TRACFONE.VZWENTP
MMSC: HTTP://MMS.VTEXT.COM/SERVLETS/MMS
MCC: 311
MNC: 480
APN TYPE: DEFAULT,DUN,STDHIPRI,SUPL
APN PROTOCOL: IPV4/IPV6
APN ROAMING PROTOCOL: IPV4/IPV6
BEARER: LTE
If I didnt listed the field is blank. So as a small note my wife has the same exact phone but with the next version of android and is having no issues. Her APN reads exactly the same except the MMSC is set to default, and the APN TYPE doesnt have STDHIPRI. I tried her settings not luck. Also the MMSC im currently on is not what worked for downloading so Im broken on up and download right now. I used an older tracfine address that got downloading working. This vtext address is what is listed as correct for a verizon phone everywhere on the web...
Also Id like to add I wanted to try some settings I found with different MCC and MNC numbers but if I change them it immediately deletes my APN profile...
I did also try go sms and some other recommended messaging apps and it made no difference.
Help please lol. Im getting super frustrated.
Well I just fixed it. Go figure I walk away from it for a couple hours, make a post, screw with it for 10 minutes and figure it out...
SO for anyone else on the internet with this issue here is the functioning current APN for a verizon phone on straight talk as of 8/2017
APN: TRACFONE.VZWENTP
MMSC: HTTP://MMS.VTEXT.COM/SERVLETS/MMS
MCC: 311
MNC: 480
APN TYPE: DEFAULT,MMS,SUPL
APN PROTOCOL: IPV4/IPV6
APN ROAMING PROTOCOL: IPV4/IPV6
BEARER: LTE
It was all in the stupid APN Type line. Apparently either my phones a screw ball OR perhaps newer android phones default better on certain settings that my rooted phone cant? Either way this stupid line changed worked to fix both my downloading and uploading...
