Happened after i did a system update. I tried, rebooting, and factory resetting and nothing worked, would try to reformat if that were even an option, for some reason even after i unmount SD card the format option doesnt even show up anywhere in the storage settings. Finally i tried a system restore to go back to the previous version of android but i think that the factory reset i preformed earlier wiped all that data. So im at a loss right now, is there anything i can try to solve this? Thanks in advance.
Try backing up your data and formatting the card on a computer. That will most likely fix your issue.
Thanks, is there a guide out there i should follow to walk me through this process?

If you really want to wipe your device, press:
*2767*3855#
WARNING, there is no confirmation, when you pres the last digit "#", everything is gone for good... Make a backup first, this code wipes your whole SD and formats it to factory defaults, i "think" only the external sd is untouched, not sure, you'd better remove it before typing the code.
Hope it helps

Is there any different between this method (*2767*3855# ) and by going in to settings ->privat --> factory reset? If so, what's the different (im not sarcastic, i really want to know)
thank you,
from memory, a factory reset via android's menu only wipes /data and /cache (plus a few other things like the android_secure, .cache and sd-ext folders) but leaves your internal and external SD intact.
the service code is the "real deal" and wipes everything that's mounted. Why don't you try it and tell us the results? I hear lots of good about it... ^^

Nah, i leave it to someone els. Do you know if this method also erase the root or not?
nope, /system partition remains as is (including all the files that were installed to it, but there aren't that many of them. Most third-party files get written to /data, which is also wiped. There might remain a few .conf files in .etc though, but it's rarely a problem -especially for rooted users, since we're used to completely wipe everything including /system when flashing a new stock ROM )
Use the service code or as JJEgan said:
Boot CWM recovery,
go to Mounts and Storage,
Format cache, data, system and sd card.
^^both of these methods do the same thing and will wipe everything that has been changed by the user.
Good Luck.
I performed the *2767*3855# method but yet on first start up im still seeing a background from a old rom ive flashed to it? Why is this? Is there any way to completely nuke everything on the phone? and just start flashing things back onto it?
Help
Hi how do I completly set my phone back to original unrooted status?
I have read up on so much but I seem to have made a right mess of my phone.
I can't unroot it no matter what I do, I put the original kernal back on through odin but it is still rooted but it got rid of yellow triangle.
The phone works ok and boots up but even the usb jig won't reset the counter, just boots into recovery mode.
I'm at the point as I don't know what I have done anymore.
Please help someone.
Hi guys,
My phone started to reboot itself every 5-10 minutes today. I rebooted into recovery and loaded a backup from a week ago. Now it loads and I get Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped and it repeats. I never get service.
I've wiped, put on a different ROM, same thing. When I try to wipe internal storage I get an error.
I'm s-off 1.12 hboot
radio 1.02.11.0423_2
I don't know what to do.. Do I have to relock, ruu, then re-root? If so, which RUU?
Any easier fixes?
Thanks
Mount internal storage to pc using twrp, it should say the internal needs to be formatted. You can also try fix permissions and clearing app data for any apps that force close.

thanks but no dice.. i did that and now when i try to wipe in recovery it fails and isnt installing any zips (downloaded 2 new ones).
i get this:
Install /sdcard/stock w goodies.zip
finding update package..
opening update package..
installing update.
e: error in /sdcard/stock with... zip
above that i see
Using rm -rf of 'dev/block/mmcblk1p1'
e:tw_format_rmfr: unable to locate volume for device "dev/block/mmcblk1
and
e:tw_format_rmfr: unable to locate volume for device "dev/block/mmcblk0
that seems bad
phone hosed? should i try to ruu? i dont want to lose root so im not sure which one to use or what process
No no, mount storage to pc. Go to mount select internal card and hit mount storage and plug it into pc, and it will read as a flash drive. It will recognize it as a corrupt card and tell you that it needs to be formatted. Twrp will not recognize corrupted cards.

I just formatted again on both. Then I added a zip from my PC and it flashed without failing. It booted so we are good. Not sure why didnt work first time around or what caused it in first place.
Think it could have caused the reboots every few mintues earlier today? I hope thats fixed.. otherwise i got a phone dying lol.
THanks again!
It may have just been something simple like a kernel problem. Sometimes everything flashes and you boot android but it doesn't agree with the kernel and it reboots. Sometimes it's because something has been corrupted. Make back ups, keep a copy on pc and it would be handy to keep a wipe script in case you ever have to start over. It's easier to just flash a wipe script and then flash a rom
You should try getting a new sd. I've seen this happen with sd's that are starting to fail. Not saying this is your issue but its something to look into.

I my DCIM and a few other folders, were wiped!? Factory reset is not support to wipe either SD card. What happened here? Is there a possibility of permissions, rescanning (I tried manually in the AOKP kernel settings) not bringing up the files?
Trying to figure out how the hell my internal sd card got wiped. I did have to wipe data, to go back to an older recovery but that again should not touch the sd card, it never has in the past. The only thing that makes me think otherwise is in the newer version of TWRP it is mounted oddly (under emu/storage) as opposed to the usualy direct method of sdcard or /external sd
Help! At the very least don't want to make this time consuming mistake again.
What really confused the hell out of me was I went back to my 4.1.2 build to get some files/check some settings, and took some screenshots. All I did was a factory reset in TWRP and restored my newer Kitkat, and none of the screenshots were anywhere to be found. I am hella confused here.
Hey,
Well, I'm going to try and make this short as possible....
Basically I was dumb and chose "factory reset" in the the bootloader. Now /system /data /sdcard are all screwed. I get "unable to mount xxxx" in twrp on all of those, when I try to wipe now. Oh and when I install a new ROM, internal storage thinks it's an SD card...
So my question is: How do I reformat/restore all the partitions to their correct permissions/format?
Thanks in advance,
Nate
Take a look at the link below. It's helped some others who have had similar issues. Been awhile since I've dealt with the particular issue you're describing but if I come up with anything else I'll be sure to post. If I recall correctly, when I've seen this issue in the past, you need to wipe your cache in recovery. For future reference, there isn't a need to do a factory reset from the bootloader.

Ok, got it working somehow...
Plugged phone into Mac and formatted internal storage to Ms-Fat.
Installing CM10.2 fixed all the other partitions.
So, everything works good now. And yeah, definitely will not touch that factory reset in the boot-loader again!
Hi, I'm running skydragon 6.02/sd kernel 5.04 and it was running very well until recently. I am starting to have forced closes and the black screen after reboot. Never had this before, sometimes the phone just turns off and I don't realize it and I miss messages. I'm thinking that there may be a corrupt file somewhere on the phone. I'd like to wipe phone completely, but when I do a factory reset, it still leaves some of my data on the phone (on the internal sd partition) I could manually delete that data using a file explorer, but I am not sure if there are other files in other places that are not being deleted as well. I was wondering if I could 'wipe' the internal drive from twrp (in addition to davalcik/system/data/cache) and then be able to reinstall sd 6.02 from twrp immediately following. I've never wiped the internal drive that way and am not sure if I would lose root and remove twrp in the process. Can somebody please direct me to a way to completely scrub the phone of current data files and then reinstall 6.02/5.04? Thanks in advance.

Yes. TWRP / wipe / internal storage.
