[Q] Hide Kik read receipt - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm coming over from iOS where there was a "tweak" called Essentials for Kik Messenger. It allowed you to disable the read receipts. I've looked around for a couple hours and couldn't find anything like it on Android. Any ideas guys?

[q] I.M. with notification on contact logins

I'm curious to know what instant messengers other people are using.
Currently I'm using trillian, and I like it, however I'd like the option to get a notification when certain contacts login (but not every contact). Is there any app that does this?
It would also be usefull if it supported multiple protocols, I'd rather not have multiple i.m. apps running at once.
tried IM+....only other multi client I know of with a decent gui...not sure about individual alerts based on contact
Should try talk.to. Amazingly simple UI and works really well.

I forgot to mention, I need to use a messenger that works over data and not sms since I don't have a messaging plan. also I read this comment under the talk.to comments section "Changing the status of all my accounts to a Talk.to promotion without asking is completely unacceptable, and a shame because the app works great."

[Q] Final answer to group texting

Hello everyone,
I recently wanted to group text with people with iphones and one blackberry and needless to say it was a disaster. I have tried both the stock messaging app and SMS go, and both fail miserably when receiving and sending texts that are in a group thread, I receive them all separately and send them all separately. Is there an app to do this?
I have a LG Nitro HD on ATT.
And yes i have tried Google and searching the forums only to find people not coming up with an answer.
Thank you so much for your help
Does your phone have an SMS mode? I know mine does. Also if it doesnt try Slate Droid forums or Android Central. Hope this helps!
What do you mean SMS mode?
bump, does no one know the answer???
I think textplus offers free group texting

I would suggest checking out Kik messenger. I haven't researched the group messaging apps in a few months, but I know Kik was always pretty good about speedy receipt of messages, and it looks like it is back on Blackberry too (it had been removed from AppWorld for a bit). Kik will also allow you to send pictures. There may be another solution or two that would also solve your problem, so search around for apps similar to kik.
Hope that helps.
How about this?:

[Q] How do you solve group messaging/mms problems on the LTE version?

As the title suggests, I just discovered tonight after almost 2 weeks of having the Z3TC, I can't reply to group messages in the stock messaging app. When I respond to a message, it goes out individually to everyone and they hate me for not staying in the conversation. Any workaround or solution?
I heard and scoured the web, and basically I just read I need to download and use a different messaging app. This is unbelievable. It's almost 2015 and this tablet didn't come stock with this?
It's not a deal breaker for me, but darn, it is really annoying and gets my Z3TC made fun of. If I have to resort to a 3rd party app, anyone have any particular preference and why?
Many thanks.
Use the new Google messenger app or hangouts instead. The new Google Messenger app will probably become the new stock SMS app and it works great.

Is there a way for masseging in the facebook app without having to use Messenger

I am sick of the messenger app that always tells when I'm online and even if I try to appear offline it says online from one minute
I feel like there is a camera inside my house and people are always watching and knowing what I am doing
Is there a mod Facebook app that makes me able to text without using the Messenger app so I can text people only when I want to? I don't want a temporary solution please.
Thank you.

Can somebody please recommend a non-threaded/inbox SMS app that works on Marshmallow?

I have been using an old GO SMS version up to now, being very careful not to update it since they have removed the one feature I kept it for, the inbox. I sincerely hate the threaded stuff, I have hated it since it first came in Windows Mobile, and then on the HD2 and up. Pansi was great, but didn't work anymore because updating stopped. I have no interest at all browsing a box where I see the messages I have sendt, I want it to be like a mail program, not a social media thing (I don't even have Facebook or other social media...). So is there a non-threaded/unthreaded/inbox style SMS app out there? I have spent an hour on Play to find it, but failed.
I've used about every SMS app that's out there and I don't recall this being an option. Lemme just clarify though as it seems like an odd request to me (no offense - not odd bad, just odd different). You want an SMS app that only shows their messages to you, but not yours to them? If that's so, the only half assed work around I could think of would be one that has the ability to theme all components of the message and make the out going messages blend in to the background.
So you haven't been around very long, then? That was the only way until around 2008 for smartphones, when Windows Mobile 6 came with threaded messages. Until now there's always been apps that supports it. Basically I want an SMS app that doesn't use threaded messaging, so I can go into an inbox and see the messages I have received, not the one I have sendt, yes. But blending in doesn't help, the main thing isn't the separate "conversations", it's the separate inbox where I only see the text of messages I have received, nothing else. So just like the inbox of MS Office Outlook, if that helps. Or like K9 mail for Android, if that tells you more. I just don't see why what's widely considered the efficient way to do things in mail is so different in SMS. Almost all mail programs has one inbox and one sendt box.
