[Q] Android style folders for Windows desktop? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does a software like that exist? I didnt find any.
I think this would be an interesting software.
Right now, if we want to group together a bunch of shortcuts on the desktop, but dont want it taking up much area, we have no choice but to add it into a folder. This means that an entire window pops up if we want to open a shortcut from that folder.
But if the desktop folders were like the ones on android, that would mean that we would only need to deal with a small tiny rectangle with icons to open a shortcut.
Click(or double click) on folder -> Android style folder pops up with icons -> click(or double click) to open chosen file/shortcut/etc.
I think this would be more elegant. No giant windows popping up.
Is there anything for windows that resembles something like this?

How to create folders with chrome and android apps and put them on to the shelf

So everybody says that it's impossibile to add folders to the shelf, but it is not true any longer on condition you have a touch enabled chromebook with the google play store enabled.
Just download Jina Drawer and you'll be able to create Jina folders. Then create as many folders as you like and follow the instructions to add the folders to the home screen... Then you'll find the folders inside the chromebook launcher: just long press on them and add to the shelf. Choose transparent theme and close folder once an app has started.
With this first step you can add any android app to the shelf.
Regarding chrome apps, apart from the file manager and chrome remote desktop and few others (which cannot be added to the folders), they are basically links to urls, so you can donwload More shortcuts, which will let you create shortcuts inside any Jina folder. You'll just have to manually add the icons.
Here's how it looks

Edit: for the remote desktop, you can alternatively use the beta link https://remotedesktop.google.com/access
Black background window, vice floating folder.
I shared a video to show the problem I'm having.

Can we change the folder shape?

I, personally, don't like the rounded folder shape even we are able to change the shape for the app icons. Do we have magisk module or icon pack where we can change the folder shape?
Thanks in advance!
press and hold on the homescreen. go into settings and change folderstyle to your likings.
Reeppeep,
I only have "Change icon shape" after I press and hold on the home screen and select "Home Settings". I don't have the folder style option. Is there a new pixel launcher apk somewhere? The version I have is 9-4928604.
hey, i'm sorry i thought app-icon style is what you were after. kinda misread your question a bit. can't help you with folder style, i'm sorry.
I know it is an old thread, but this question is still relevant. I got a new phone and I hate the dumb round shaped folder icons in Android 8 and 9, with no way to change it. It's crazy, isn't it? Taken from the real world, folders are always square, after all. Yet, we can't have square folder shape in google's skewed digital world, only round ones. App icons can be customized in many, some useless, way. We can have round app icons, square app icons, squarish app icons, teardrop app icons .... but only round folder icons. No customizable folder icons for us, oh no. Doesn't matter that in previous Android versions, at least up to 6, folders were square. Take your round folder icons now and like them. Yep, that makes sense . Screw you , google, that's the kind of stupid stuff that drives people to Apple and iphone.

Go to settings> enable developer option > in developer option > themes application: highlight color, title source and icon shape.
that is about folder, not icon, icon we already know how to change shape as the last post above us told
Hi, I didn't find a Solution, but I think this should be better then installing a Launcher (something I don't want to do).
The onle thing it should do the job is removing completely the background color of the folder, see the screenshot.

New Insiders Preview Version - Ugh!

Along with adding some Video Editor I don't want, and I don't know what else was added, but it borks the Taskbar in an aggravating way.
First, it made my Icons large again (It takes a registry edit to use small icons) and not only can you no longer rearrange Systray Icons - I like them Alphabetized, it puts "Hidden" Icons in a drop down that you cannot delete, even if there's nothing in it.
And now my Laptop, which I also updated has the stupid Evaluation Copy version in the lower left corner
