What's your best pen for Z Ultra - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I'm going to use my Z Ultra for taking a notes very often. I'm wondering what item could be a nice pen substitute. I know you can use pencils, which works pretty great but I'm a little woried it would actually scratch my screen. Is anyone taking notes with ZU here? What pen are you using?

I'm using a pencil and it works fine, no need to worry about scratches.

Pencils works suprisingly well, I have to admit that. I made my own pen, which works very well too. I created it using a wall charger and standard pen, It looks like this (attachment), i might post tutorial if anyone is interested.

Is it true that the screen will get tiny scratches no matter what pen/pencil you use?

The anti shatter film will, so it is probably best to use a 3rd party screen proctor over the ASF, a [rounded] pencil will still work

With pencil it does leave some marks if you look carefully. But it can be wiped off. I am using a tempered glass cover so I do not worry about the potential damage to the original screen. Yes a pencil work fine.
Your pen looks pretty good. I am interested in a tutorial to make one for myself.
Thanks!

Which set of screen protectors to go for?

Hi, I wanted to know which set of Screen Protectors is better,
http://www.clove.co.uk/case-mate-samsung-galaxy-sii-i9100-screen-protector-2-pack
or
http://www.clove.co.uk/screen-protector-10pcs-for-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-i9100
I only want to go with one of the options above and want to know which one in terms of quality is the best. The Case-mate screen protectors were purported to not fit exactly with the screen of the Galaxy S2, however, that was for the screen protectors that were included with a TPU case. As a stand-alone product, is the Case-mate a proper fitting? And what about the 10-pack Clove Screen protectors, are they fingerprint-resistant?
Please advice me. Thank you very much in advance.
I ordered Steinheil Ultra on amazon.

Thanks, but if you had only two options (mentioned in my first post), which one would you go for? Please let me know. Thanks again. =)

Sorry I can't vouch for something I've never used. I've used SGP, Power support and Martin Fields with success. I personally don't buy the cheaper bulk ones as I don't want them to detract from the screen quality.
You might check in the accessory section.
A number of posts in Accessory forum re screen protectors.
I would pick neither of those two .

I was a big Brando fan in the past when I used Nokias, but the screen protector for my SGS disappointed me. Bad shape, bad cut outs, didn't stick well on the display. The I bought a SGP Oleophobic that's still on my phone without any damage, so I ordered one for my SGS2, too. Still waiting for it.
Doesn't the i9100 have gorilla glass on it? So it's a pity to cover it, and it's not needed, IMHO.
Also the screen protector lowers touch screen sensitivity.
Wouldn't say that, heard couple of users already having scratches on their screen due to sand or something in their pocket.
I would go for the 10pc. Case mate are getting bad reputations from everyone here. U cud try thr clove ones and tell us how u get on.

The Martin Fields does not reduce the touch sensitivity at all...it actually provides a much bettersmooth surface for the finger to glide over

what about finger prints
I got something similar to that 10 pack. I paid AU$3.20 which is about 2 pounds for a 5 pack. Protects ok, but it is a fingerprint magnet and also tends to grab onto the oil from your hands. I end up having to clean it with a proper microfibre cloth in order to get the oil off. Normal cloths don't work.

Yeah its a finger print magnet but not as bad as the original glass :-( if applied properly is seems like as if it is the glass itself...benefit is that colours and everything on the screen seems more vibrant and bright!
Plus easy to apply and minimum bubbles if you are a bit careful...:-( nothing like the invisible shield crap which dulls the screen and develops yellowish/orangish tint after a time and feels like rubber :-(

I mean, finger prints as in grease. My current protector get the oil from my hands on the screen and it messes up the colours. You get a kinda rainbow effect if you dont clean it.
Rubbing alcohol ftw. I carry some on me in place of hand sanitizer. It works great for cleaning all crap off the screen and drys dang quick, also sanitizes... don't use too much, only a little is necessary

Oh, well that kills my idea of getting an Invisible Shield protector then.

Clearplex?

Anyone try these yet? theres been a few videos floating around the net lately about them. One video has a grandma shooting a iphone in the air with and without it, another shows the clarity and smoothness of it vs the invisable shield. there $13.99 for just the screen and since i had some money just sitting in my paypal account i thought id order one.

i currently have the ghost armor one on mine and it doesnt have the sticky feel at all. Ill try to throw up a mini review when i get mine, if it doesnt work out so well i got a back up ghost armor at least. they gave me 2 sets when i got mine.
I've been looking for something like this. I'll write a review on this when I get it. Remember to use grandma at check out for a discount.
Looks very interesting, I'm more intrigued by how impact resistant it is. Would love a review of this one.
I absolutely detest screen protecters but I have had to go back to them because of my job. I'm doing sheet metal/air conditioning for the summer until I start the nursing program in august, then it will be bye bye protector. but in the mean time I really need a good protector that feels nice with the s pen. My zagg one is'nt cutting it, so, here we go...I hope to give a review soon.

I apologize guys. My clearplex came in today and i had the intention of taking lots of pix of my ghostarmor on there with screen on and off, then taking comparison pix with the clearplex. Well instead i got drunk and decided i wanted it on now to test it lol. Good news is I did snap a few photos, got it on perfectly, but i didnt take as many pix as i hope for. Ill give it a few days to test out. For now ill say this, it really looks like there isnt a screen protector on there, clarity seems great, and feels like my finger is actually on glass not a protector.

Not sure what went wrong with mine then... put it on with what appeared to be a pretty good install, no bubbles or anything like that to speak of. However the rainbowing/striping effect is pretty bad. Granted, that can only be seen when the phone is off, but still. (it's just been a day so I'll give it a couple to settle in as they say in the instructions, but based on others I've used, I'm not expecting much of a change) Also not a fan of the fit... there's a pretty good gap around the edges since the length of the protector is close to an 1/8" smaller than the screen.
On the pro side, it does have a nice feel to it, touch sensitivity is very good, and the clarity through the rainbowing seems decent enough.

I have that effect as well, but I'm sure its because there's still moisture. It has been getting better daily. Remember to go over the screen with the cloth and card twice a day for 5-7 days. Clarity is possibly the best I've seen so far

yes, the protector itself is a tad bit small, but I can live with it. as far as the rainbow, i dont have that problem...for the most part, it is working out great and the feel compared to anything else I've tried is amazing. I do think any protector is not fun to use but this one is , to me, the best so far. especially thefeel and the way the s pen works on it. I hope it works out for everyone.

Regular, flat case for 7"?

I've been Googling, eBaying, and Amazoning (last fictional verb sounds kinda cool) for a common, flat case for my Tab 2 7.0.
It has become my number one remote control, so you can probably understand how uncomfortable a flip case is, adding an extra step every time I want to change a channel, or having a cover hanging (why in the world are 95% of the cases are now "folio"?!). Also, most cases either block the IR transmitter entirely, have some part obstructing it partially, making it mandatory to aim with "the" angle towards my TV set.
I have found a few silicon cases on eBay, but they have an S line, or weird X across the whole thing, that just make the device look fugly to me. No offense if someone likes it or has it, as we know, everyone has different taste.
I'd like to just get a regular, non-flip, non-folio, non-X-or-any-character-of-the-alphabet-drawn, plain cover, that protects the rear of my device, and doesn't obstruct the IR blaster at all. How hard can it be? The perfect fit for me would be a flat, matte black rubber thingy, with a hole where the blaster is... so simple, and inexistent! Maybe even better, a hard case.
Anyone found something, somewhere?
OtterBox
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Defender Series Case
I've looked but haven't found any.
I tried out the S curve case that was made for the GTab Plus and it fit horribly. It's too bad that the Gtab 2 isn't popular enough to have more cases. I was hoping for a Cruzerlite case, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

Yeah, I've seen it. I'm not sure it fits the "simple, flat" criteria, although I think I'd buy it if it didn't cost 1/3 of what my tablet did
I agree that Otterbox is pricey. I also hate the frame around the screen on the front.
Why not just get one of these cheap tpu style cases and just cut the tabs off that hold the cover?

That's exactly what I planned on doing if I couldn't find anything... get rid of the cover, and/or punch a hole for the IR sensor on the ones that are designed for P3100.

Got one, and it fits perfect! I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
PS: Anyone has tried matte/antiglare screen protectors? Been thinking about one, but not really convinced.
Try the Capdase silicone case for Tab 7.0 plus. Although mine is the folio type, (silicone case with IR blaster slot + leather folio) their plain silicone (w/o the leather case) seems exactly what you're looking for. Just plain flat black silicone, no x or s or whatever. just plain flat.

Do the corners of that case create a bit of a bevel/lip where they clamp on the tab? In other words, when you put the tab face down on a desk/table, is there a space between the screen and desk/table or is it flush?

I prefer the matte over the clear screen protector. The clear one gets sticky at times, the matte is always smooth and you don't have to worry about hairline scratches and reflections in your screen.

I guess it's worth a try. I'll get a matte screen cover and see how it goes. Good input, thanks!
Now, the long overdue pictures . Since the back surface is mostly flat (that was the idea), I concentrated mostly on showing how it fits the tablet. My apologies for the narrow depth of field... unfortunately I didn't have my tripod's plate with me, so I had to take the pictures handheld, and the only way to get a steady shot was with a large aperture.
This is the general look of it:

Dealextreme tends to be somewhat slow compared to individual sellers from Ebay, I believe this is because DX is the "middleman" liasing between customers who place orders and the suppliers who advertise their products whereas on Ebay, the sellers are the suppliers who respond directly to customer orders.

Writing on the ultra: using soft pencil

Hey guys, first post, after all of the research, I thought you guys knew the most about my new purchase of an old ass phone.
I heard about all the scratching issues when using a pencil/pen. I decided to go get an 8B pencil (soft) instead of the normal #2 (2H), and it seems to work ok without scratching so far (Mind you I made sure the tip was nice and rounded). I hate those thick tip styluses.
Are there any graphite experts in here? haha. Totally wondering if I'm going to end up scratching her.

I don't know how I feel about putting another protector over one that already has some rainbowing issues when I inspect it. And I'm not about to try and remove that monster of a screen antishatter layer, it seems like its more glue than plastic haha. I sincerely appreciate your reply!

Me too. The ifolix fits very well. Totally invisible.
And does not impact pencil
I find propelling pencil leads are too thin to be reliable.
So 2B or not 2B, if that's the question I'd say either if the points are rounded.
definitely should have screen protector, anti-scratch, shatterproof, plus the ability to easily wipe off fingerprints (with no protection, I have to use diluted alcohol to get my shiny screen back) yes, there's some faint rainbow thing when you squint your eyes really hard and tilt the screen to the extreme side but that's it.
I use an HB with no screen protector, have for the last year. Just make sure you round the tip and then you have nothing to worry about

Best case that can also take the M pen

Just wondering if there is anything better than the official smart case with the window for the M pen to be carried as well.
This is the only one I've found that takes the pen.

Ok I'm back on with this mission. The Momax case leaves the sides exposed to potential damage.
So does anyone know of any other case that can take the M Pen as well?
Exposed sides is a bit worrying to me.
I thought about whether some sort of protective film could be used on the sides but can't see any cases like that I could chop up a bit. I tried with a standard silicone one but despite it being very thin it was too big to allow the phone to be seated in the Momax case.
The search continues....
