No contacts, dailer and can't install apk. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently tried to install Xposed Framework on my galaxy s3 however i think something went wrong causing it unable to access the play store correctly with the error that "....gapps no responding" or something like that.
I thought it was easier to just format everything but it didn't work and now I'm missing my dialer, contacts and numerous other things.
I did some research and I'm guessing it's something to do with the permissions. I used TWRP fix permissions and it spews out some errors with things like:
"Unable to stat: /data/data/com.android.contacts" and other ones including one with dialer.
So the problem is that phone is able to receive text messages and access the play store, but it can't install any apk and download any updates.

Reflash your firmware, you can't fix the broken framework any other way.

Okay, I tried doing that with TWRP. Still spews out errors when it tries to update the partition. I can access the phone but still shows no sign of dailer, contacts etc. Can't install apps as well.
Managed to adb into the phone and access the shell to the data/data/ folder. I tried to access the folder com.android.contacts and it says I/O error.
So i used 'ls -la' to view permissions and it gives out I/O for:
com.android.contacts
com.android.dailer
com.android.providers.calender
com.android.providers.contacts
com.android.providers.downloads

Flash stock firmware with odin then factory reset.

yes i have tried that odex and apk files are gone
both com.android.calendar and com.android.provider.calendar are gone
and installing with both file manager and app installer gives the same result, "application not installed"
edit: i got it worknig after a restart.
i have a new problem...
i accidently deleted accounts and sync and now it wont sync.
anyway to get it back?
any suggestios?
I did the same thing a week or so ago.
You could just use Odin to flash the ROM again (since it doesn't wipe).
You could take it from a previous backup.
You could open an update and extract the file.
Really, lots of options. When I did it, it was immediately after I flashed the JI6, so I just did it again, but you've got a few other options.
i already used a lot of mods and i dont want to do it again..
can anyone maybe i tried to install ti from another phone but the instalaltion fails.

[Q] How do I replace AOSP camera with Google camera? (CM12)

I flashed the current Nexus 5 CM12 daily with Paranoid Android Google Apps today. Everything's working, except that I seem to be stuck with the AOSP camera. Titanium Backup and other similar utilities don't seem to be able to uninstall it completely; they can remove the icon and the apk but some traces remain. After removing camera2/AOSP Camera with TB and verifying the absence of /system/app/Camera2, I've tried:
Installing from Play Store, which results in error -504 (not the common and easily solved error 504, mind you, but the same underlying problem as...)
adb install without -r:
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_ALREADY_EXISTS]
Because...
W/PackageManager( 772): Attempt to re-install com.google.android.GoogleCamera without first uninstalling package running as com.android.camera2
adb install -r (same as above)
I realize I could wipe system/data and go from there, but I'd prefer to avoid that if at all possible. I'm hoping there's just some stray piece of metadata somewhere that I can delete so Android knows that com.android.camera2 is gone. Any suggestions? Thanks.
EDIT:
Booted into recovery and copied the files into /system/app/GoogleCamera, set permissions, and (shockingly) that did it.
I found a solution.
You need to edit the file
/data/system/packages.xml
Locate the following text and delete it:
Code:
<renamed-package new="com.google.android.GoogleCamera" old="com.android.camera2" />
Then install the application from Play Store.

Partially wiped and broken SCH-I545

I was trying to install TWRP to my rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 and after trying to boot into recovery after installing it from TWRP Manager, I would get the error Secure Fail: Kernel. When I started my phone I came back to my home screen wallpaper being just blue and the majority of my apps being gone. When I went to application manager I saw the apps were still there, but at 0.00 bytes and their icons were missing. While this was going on I would constantly get the "app has stopped working" error from apps and processes like contacts and calculator. It also seems the google play services are gone too because when I open the play store it immediately closes. When I open Gmail it says "Gmail won't run without google play services, which are missing from your phone." I want to flash the stock using Odin but from past experiences it always fails. I need to know how to fix this and getting the system update to I545VRUGOC1 then factoring resetting will be my last resort. I want to at least stay rooted at the end of this.

Package installer and play store both broken - Nougat LG G5

Both display 'has stopped' / 'keeps stopping' errors. I don't know what to do! I've removed the app data, uninstalled and reinstalled the play store, but nothing seems to work. I can't use my phone properly anymore as I can't download or update ANYTHING!
I broke it. What do I do to fix it?
I'd prefer not factory resetting, as there's a lot on here I'd like to keep and I don't have a current backup. Titanium backup refuses to run also.

Click to collapse
Try to go in to Recovery menu and do just "Wipe Cache Partition" , I think that your phone has a problem with launcher .
First download Magisk v20.4.
Then install it via twrp.
Download aptoide to computer.
Run adb install <your file directory> in cmd (or powershell and add .\ before adb).
At last open aptoide and turn on update for system apps, install beta apps and root installation. It will request root access.Grant the root access to it.Done.You can install any app on aptoide. If not on aptoide send the apk to me and I will upload it.

Accidentally deleted gallery app from an old Samsung Galaxy Core Prime

While debloating the phone from ADB, I decided to remove the built in Samsung Gallery app. The phone has Google Photos, so I thought it wouldn't be a big deal. However, I realized that only the stock gallery app can set the wallpaper. I have tried numerous ways of getting the app installed again, but nothing so far has worked.
The app's package ID is com.sec.android.gallery3d, its version name is 3.0.1181647, and the version code is 1601181647.
I have searched everywhere online to get the APK, but I can't find any one with the same version. apkmirror.com seems to have one which is slightly newer, version 3.0.37, but when I try to install it, I get a [INSTALL_FAILED_VERSION_DOWNGRADE] error, even though it seems to be a newer version.
Is there anywhere I can get the apk for that specific version of the Samsung Gallery app?
If not, is there a way to set the wallpaper without the gallery app? I tried using the Google Wallpapers app, but it tries to redirect me to the gallery and gives me an "App not installed" message.
I know that a factory reset would solve this, but as this is not my phone, it isn't an option.
I'd really appreciate if someone could help,
Thank you.
Ok, I managed to get it working.
What I ended up doing was, first extract the apk with:
adb pull /system/priv-app/SecGallery2014ESS/SecGallery2014ESS.apk
And then I installed the pulled apk using the -r and -d options like so:
adb install -r -d SecGallery2014ESS.apk
