[Q] Tried to Root w/ TWRP, didn't work. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

So I Tried to root my newly acquired I717, using this method
"How To: Root AT&T Galaxy Note i717 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 " on You Tube by mooneyb123
I tried on my macbook but I wouldn't recognize the note in Jodin. So I used my Fiances pc.
I had to install keis as the video did not mention that., But it did instal TWRP, which is awesome, But when I tried to instal the CWM-SuperuserSU-v0.94 file nothing happens, it appears to work fine and says successful but when I reboot and check for Root its not rooted.
I've tried this 4 times now.
I don't know what to do next
I want to root to get rid of the ATT bloatware, and possibly overclock. I might try a stable rom like padawan later but I mainly just want to root. Is their any way to do it with TWRP? or am I going to have to go another route?
Also can I odin CWM on or do I need to wipe the device to factory first. The main thing is I don't want to brick it as I am using the phone daily.
I tried what I thought would be the "easiest" looking way to root, but since it didn't work, I need some advice.
How do i get it back to stock recovery If its not rootable? I am running 4.1.2.
I did upgrade soon after I got the device but am wondering If I could have rooted it easier on the original version of android.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
is their any way I can do it with

I lost root on my TF201 after flashing Craig Gomez's us-tf201-jro03c-10.4.2.15-stock-deodexed.zip ROM. In addition to losing root access, I still had Superuser installed, and it would not grant superuser permission to anything I was trying to use to fix the problem, such as Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, GooManager, etc. Also, Superuser did not even have superuser permission, but could not be deleted in the File Manager. Another big problem is that I could not boot into recovery, and I could not downgrade to ICS.
After trying a number of possible solutions that I found on this and other sites, I discovered Urkel's Fresh Start 1.0.zip. Here's the post:
<http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32677560>
If you are at a dead end, I highly recommend that you give this a try! Your bootloader needs to be unlocked, but I had already done that when I was still using ICS. I'm not sure if the unlock tool available on the Asus site will work with JB. All you have to do is download the Urkel's Fresh Start zip file to your computer, unzip it to the same folder on your computer where you have adb and fastboot, add the JB ROM that you want to use to that folder, and rename the ROM file to system.blob. You'll also need to install the drivers on your computer so that it can send data to your TF201. I used the drivers that are on the Microsoft site, but there is a link to some universal drivers in the post above. Connect the cable from your TF201 to a USB port on your computer, and after deciding which option you want to try, double click Fresh Root.bat or Fresh Start.bat. Fresh Start.bat will first install the TWRP 2.2.2.1 recovery (that's what recovery.blob is). It will then install whatever JB ROM you decided to use. I went with the 10.4.2.15 ROM that's now on the ASUS site. The Urkel batch file may then restore root access, but that didn't work for some reason in my case. I think my problem was not mounting \System. You can do this by booting into TWRP recovery that you now have, select the Mount button, and put an X in the top box. In my case it seems that the box becomes unchecked during reboot. I tried it several times and gave up, but there is another simple way to regain root access if you have made it this far. Download Superuser-3.2-arm-signed.zip and flash that using TWRP, and you will at long last have root access once again. I see that this file has already been mentioned in this thread, and it worked like a charm for me.
So why did I want root access to being with? It's because of that stupid GPS problem. GPS isn't really needed on a pad in my opinion, but things like that bug me (pardon the pun)! When I was still using ICS, I unlocked the bootloader, rooted, and then used GooManager to flash TF201_External_GPS.zip. This file allowed the GPS function in my TF201 to work just as well as the GPS in my Samsung Galaxy S2. Also, I see no change when I attach the GPS dongle. What does that tell you? I think for most people with the GPS problem, it's a FIRMWARE problem, not a hardware problem. I'm not having a wifi problem, but I suspect that this is also a firmware problem. If Asus is smart, they have someone reading these blogs to get some ideas on how to fix their problems. Instead, they've spent money sending people a GPS dongle that, at least in some cases, is just a waste of time and money. So I've reinstalled the GPS zip file, and my GPS works...so now Google Maps can tell me where I am. Thanks, I already know that most of the time. Another thing that seemed to help with the GPS problem...disable the stock browser and use the Dolphin browser instead. I have no idea why that should make a difference.
Since I am a noob (whatever man), I tried to spell this out so that it can be easily understood by other noobs. Good luck, hope this works for you.

{Q} Trying to Root

I just got this S4 the other day and I love it. I am not new to ROOTING. I rooted my Thunderbolt and then my Razr Maxx without issues....but this S4 is giving me headaches.
I did get it to root one time using the "cd /mnt/SdCard" method. Then when I plugged my phone in again, it updated the ROM. Now, that method doesn't work. I have tried MOTOCHOPPER and Odin.
On Odin, It starts and then "FAIL". I have taken the SD Card out and formatted it to exFAT and put the files on it that is needs (.pwn, .script.sh) and still nothing.
I am not planning on running a custom ROM on it until I get more familiar with the ROOT process. The two things I want root for is: 1). HOTSPOTTING.....it is asking me to sign up with Verizon. I know on the other phones I had, once I did a ROOT....it was all good. 2). I use "MyBackUp Pro" and love it. In order to restore, I have to install all my apps, 1 at a time....argggghhhhh.
So, with that said....HELP!
Thanks in advanced

[Q] Verizon GS4 4.3 MJ7 rooted + recovery?

Hi, i recently rooted my verizon galaxy s4 with software version 4.3 and MJ7 build using the chinese superuser method etc. I wanted to install a rom so i have been searching for a way to install (any) recovery but everything doesnt work! I tried using gooManager but it always gives me an error. I tried installing cwm through ROM manager but after i installed it and "booted into recovery", it got me stuck in download mode which then i had to do a battery pull and cancel the operation.
I really want to install any recovery on my phone so i can install ROMS and be safe incase i brick my phone. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Any threads that cover this issue would be helpful, but i havent been able to find one! if you have any links or downloads with instructions, that would be very helpful
Thanks

[Q] Nexus 7 2013 LTE reroot doesn't work, tried everything.

Backstory:
So, I have a 32GB LTE Nexus 7 that I rooted as fast as I got it under 4.3 and flashed custom recovery because I thought I would go CM like I always do.
But I actually didn't need anything else than root and CM tends to have a sucky cellular connection. So I used it and used it and was happy.
But there was a 4.3.x update that I installed that obviously broke root and OTA rootkeeper didn't help. I tried to reroot it (because I'm lazy) with wugfresh's rootkit.
It didn't work, just like it didn't manually over ADB, so I gave up and tried again when the KitKat OTA hit.
Now it worked again and I was happy.
But behold I installed the 4.4.2 update and root is gone again and I can't get it back.
Well, I tried pretty much everything: Flashing SuperSU with Wugfresh root toolkit, tried flashing CWMR over TWRP manually and then manually flash superSUv1.86 via fastboot, flashing stock recovery then wugfresh-flash superuser by koush. Everything to no avail, I still am not rooted.
So what can I do? Now I have superuser installed but no root and when I use SuperSU I don't have root and can't seem to find the app.
I would really need some help please

Tried rooting S3, didn't work, need help.

I am very new at this, so I apologize in advance. I have the Virgin Mobile Galaxy S3 SPH-L710 running 4.3.
I simply wanted to root it so i could get rid of the bloatware and install Sixaxis and play emulators, but I didn't really know where to start, so I started looking around and found this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546505
So I basically did everything on there. I used Odin to install PhilZ Touch 6 Recovery (CWM 6.0.4.7) Did factory reset, wiped cache/dalvik. then installed the Odexed MK5 stock rooted zip, wifi fix zip, SuperSU update zip, and then the knox app remover zip.
Everything flashed just fine and it started right up. It had the Super Su app, but when I tried to install apps that need root permission it would say I don't have root access. I couldn't delete bloat apps and Super Su didn't show any apps and there isn't much I can do with it. So I guess it didn't work? Either way I wanted to try a different rom. Was gonna give Cyanogenmod a try. But every time I try to install it I get the little "Android bot laying on his back" thing and it says status 7. I tried to flash CM10, CM10.1, CM10.2, CM11. Nothing worked, same thing every time. Even tried different SD cards just in case of a mess up.
The phone itself works fine for now, calls and text work, wifi works. And it says there is an update, but when i hit accept, it reboots to recovery mode, does the "android fallen over" then boots back up.
Now here is my stupid part, I didn't backup the original cause the guide didn't say to. (Not blaming them, i should have know better) So I am assuming I have a messed up version of 4.3 and Cyanogenmod doesn't know what to do with me. I'm not sure. Here is where I am stumped.
I can get into Download mode, I can get into Recovery and the phone boots up just fine and I can use it like a normal phone, and I have a back up my current set up, so when something fails I can still revert back to a working phone, but I can't seem to get any other roms to install. Thank you very much in advance for any help.
You need to update your recovery that is why you are getting the status 7 error, also this is for the i9300 international model not yours, just to let you know

Pretty sure the sph model is sprint. So best to find the file for that because if you flash a file not intended for your model you will brick your phone.
No worries at all, glad to help
