I ran into issues trying to upgrade the ROM on my gf's phone, so for now I reflashed to NK1 using Odin (full wipe/re-partition).
Phone is just barely connecting to the network after the reflash. (Shows signal strength around >20 dBm below what it used to be). Chatted w/ VZW support and the rep did all he could to reset on their end, pushed latest PRL.
What could I be missing?
You could try a different modem. Also flash the correct modules after any rom or modem flashing.

Unfortunately I can't post this question in the thread that the issue originated from but :
last night I was on com rom 2.0 with OTb1.6 kernel and ec01 radio. I did the ODIN flash to DL09 modem and then up to ED04. Had no issues at all. This morning I decided to take the plunge into gingerbread and used this thread here JT1134 CW7. I played around with this for a few hours and didn't seem to have any issues besides the known bugs. So then I decided to up to the newer rom by nemisis2all
Nothing seemed to have any issues in the orange CWM while applying the update
Now I have no signal.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Also is there a link anywhere for just the original kernel from JT1134 CM7 test build 06/09
EDIT: looking at the phone status is says baseband unknown. So I think I'm just going to wipe all and go back to the original 06/09 build byJT1134 unless anyone has just the kernell.
Thanks up front
Josh
You should try flashing a recent modem first to see if that resolves the problem. I am using EC01 just fine with the 6.09 build from the thread you linked. I have noticed on occasion mobile data will drop, but it seems toggling wifi fixes that (cannot say for sure). But I have not had any problems with voice signal.
It is still an alpha, so keep that in mind, but it has been working great for me.
with the ED04 modem, I did have the signal drop for a few moments earlier, but it seemed fine after reboot. and I have noticed that the mobile data does drop occasionally after being on Wifi for a period of time, but reboot seems to fix that too.
Ya i even just tried to flash all 3 times data, dalvik, cache and then install the CMW7 test 2 from JT again thinking it would jsut revert to the old kernel included in his and work again. But it is still no signal and no baseband version.

I probably should have read in a bit deeper, in order to flash to the ED04 modem I actually had to flash back to a touchwiz rom then flash over the DL09 and I used CWM 3.0.x to flash up to ED04. I had tried to do it in the orange CWM that came with CM7 test 2 and it failed multiple times. After I had gone back to DL09 and updated modem I just flashed CM7 back over and have not had much problem since other than data dropping.
I Just Odin the modem back to DL09 and then CWM Orange from DL09 to ED04 and working again. Thanks for the input guys.
Does anyone have a modem for the Australian S2? Peferebly the DVLS3 modem coz' I'm stuck with a DUKJ1 modem on Jelly bean 4.2.2 and i get no bars in my home, my local mall and only 1 bar MAX in the city. (I live in Melbourne on Vodafone). When i first rooted my phone and flashed Thunderbolt Rom onto my phone, it had the DVLS3 modem on until installed MIUI V.5 then flashed the Siyah kernel V.6beta5. Then I was stuck with the I9100XXMS2 modem. So I flashed the Dorinmax kernel on top of P.A 3.0+ but still had the same modem. So then I flashed back the Thnderbolt ROM V.7 and the DUFK4 modem and did better but only got 1 bar maximum (never went above 2 bars). So I scowered the whole interwebs and found a DUKJ1 modem and flashed that (the most reliable so far) but still got no service in my house, and 1 bar max. So here i am now. Please someone give my the modem so I can flash it via CWM. that would be greatly appreciated. DD ( And sorry if I confuse you or get something wrong because I'm new to this sort of stuff).
P.S: If I can't get the modem, please someone recommend a good, reliable modem to use on the Vodafone network in AUS.
THANKS DD

Try DULP4 from that link Sun posted. I've been using it for ages & it hasn't missed a beat. I'm in Geelong/use Voda & also have fairly average coverage inside at one bar mostly, but at least it's reliable. I can get full coverage immediately outside my back/front door.
Having said that (trying that particular modem/others), we are talking about Vodafone here, and what you're seeing could very easily be just the result of their ****ty network.
Edit - Have you flashed any RIL's by chance ? If you have, and trying modems simply doesn't work, I'd be formatting everything in CWM & doing a clean install of stock via Odin. Then flash whatever rom/kernel you want to use. Flashing RIL's may have done something funky to your connectivity (Have seen it happen). If you haven't flashed any RIL's, disregard this bit & keep trying modems. If you find DULP4 doesn't work, try all the modems released with Voda stock roms. Then try the modems released by other carriers around the world who sold the I9100T (check Samfirmware). If you still have no joy, try every other modem you can get your hands on (there are dozens).
So if at any stage a modem*+ril has been flashed, it's required to nuke (or similar) the current ROM, flash stock, and then start from scratch? Or is it ok to re- root the stock firmware & restore a nandroid? I.e. Will a nandroid restore the ril as well?
I only ask as I found a modem+ril combo on my internal sd card the other day. I may have flashed it when I was starting off & didn't know what I was doing, can't be sure :/
Edit: I know that a nandroid doesn't restore baseband. But I couldn't find anything definitive about whether ril is included in a nandroid.

If I'd flashed a RIL out of desperation at some stage to try and fix poor connectivity (I haven't tho/wouldn't) & still had poor connectivity, yeah, I'd 'nuke' the lot & do a completely fresh install and start again. I wouldn't say it's 'required' tho. That's just me being thorough/methodical.
But if you've flashed one & have no problems with connectivity, no need to. I suggested it to the OP given his connectivity is ****ty thinking he may have flashed one. I've seen people on who have had no problem with connectivity flash RIL's with the promise of/thinking they might get 6.5Mbps download speeds instead of 6Mbps & end up borking their connectivity completely.
As far as I'm concerned, I'd only personally flash a RIL after I've tried every single modem & had no joy. Not sure if the RIL is included in a nandroid. I guess the test would be to flash a RIL, make a nandroid, flash another RIL, restore the nandroid & use GetRIL/similar to check the RIL.
The only problem I have with connectivity is in tapatalk. Usual internet browsing /video streaming are fine, so I guess it's tapatalk.
I've never deliberately flashed a RIL, and don't think I have at all, but I can't be sure. As I'm not having issues I will be content.. Not that I'm getting anything close to 6Mb/s.

I just used '6Mbps' as an example to illustrate the things some people do thinking they can get a 'little bit extra' when there's nothing wrong with what they're already getting
Backstory: Just got my replacement S4 (warranty) and luckily it still had the MDK bootloader. I was able to root and install CWM without any issues (having the SIM pulled the entire time). I am very anxious about getting my phone setup I d/l CM11 and the MK2 modem. This is where the trouble started.
I flashed the modem.bin using Odin 3.07 and it passed. Then I flashed CM11 and had no issues. Stayed on WiFi to get everything loaded and when I turned off WiFi, I noticed that I can only get 3g service. This is in a 4g dense area that I have never had a problem getting 4g before. I thought it was CM11 so I revert back to stock with root, but still no 4g. Now I am getting frustrated and put the stock modem back using Odin (this time it was the tar.md5 file) and still no 4g.
Final Point: So I don't know what I am doing wrong. I can get 2g/3g/WiFi, but no 4g. Still have the IMEI in the phone status.
All help is appreciated since I can't find anything topic to help with my situation.
Thanks.

Same thing happened to me when I got a new s4. Had to get a new sim card. There free at Verizon corporate stores and something like $10 at retail stores.

Double check your APN settings. If everything is good there I'd get a new SIM card.

Long shot, but you might try Viperboy's PRL Helper from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.viper.prlhelperfree
Works flawlessly for me, although I don't have cause to use as much as I used to.
Hi, all.
I just got a used S4 on NC5, stock. Keeps flipping between LTE, 3G, no data. Mostly 3G. I'm in a good coverage area. I've tried replacing the SIM & doing a factory reset from recovery. No wifi or bluetooth trouble that I've noticed. Rooted w/towelroot, no safestrap. Is my best bet to ODIN to a clean version of NC5 (and should I do ful-wie or no wipe?), or is there another fix I should try first? Saw a flashing of an NC module in another thread for "wifi/data/bluetooth issues," but not clear whether that's just from something resulting from safestrap.
Thanks in advance for all help.
