Update and remove root? - Verizon LG G3

Is it possible to update from KK to Lollipop and then remove root? Will it cause any issues?
I need to use an application (GFE) which doesn't work with root access. Although there is a workaround in KK it does not work with Lollipop if the device is rooted. Can I just update to some ROM and then remove root?
Thanks.

On kk there's a xposed app that hides root the name, escapes me atm

Yep, using that in KK, but want to move to Lollipop which doesn't work with xposed.

I'm guessing go into supersu > settings then hit full unroot

[CLOSED][Q] OTA update if rooted?

I was about to ROOT my Galaxy S3 and just found out that JellyBean will be coming next month. So I was wondering, If I do ROOT my phone will I be able to receive the OTA update without any problems? I don't care that I lose ROOT, I just don't want to brick my phone

No it won't brick, you will lose root, but just run c.f. root 6.4
And you'll get root back.
No loss of apps.
I do suggest do a nandroid backup just in case, don't forget to uncheck ever root in supersu app.
I've done one ota before and lost root, even though ever root was enabled in supersu.

Cf root is a chainfire root package I use with my s3
As for OTA updates, yes you will still get them with your rooted S3 & Yes you can install them
You will just lose root.

[Q] Running a Unroot required app on rooted device

Hi
I recently moved and had the oppertunity to view my TV-channels on my phone. However it is required to have a device who is not rooted, and I don't really want to unroot just to view tv on my phone.
Does anyone know of a small program, script etc. which can tell the app that the phone is unrooted, even though it is rooted?
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, running stock unlocked and unrooted JB yakju 4.2.2.
Thanks in advance!
I found out that I can temporarely disable root in the SuperSU app, but it would be nice to have something that permantly knew that this app should be runned without root.

From the SuperSU app. I don't think it is available in SuperUser app.

@AAbounegm
Temp unroot is available in Superuser 3.1.x (this may vary because Superuser versions vary from device to device)
@Juhler @rosentorp
Also you can use RootCloak Xposed Module to hide root only only specific apps.
The advantage is you can use root with other apps and only hide root from tv app.
Get it here (Android ICS and +)

Press Thanks if helped.
I have an old version

You may be right. I have SuperUser built-in with CM, and I don't have this features. In fact, I don't have many of features and I can't even know what version I have. :good:

Update Superuser from Play Store if update is available for your device.
Also if update is not available, Play Store shows current version of installed Superuser.

The method really hasn't changed to get gain root. Each time I flashed an update, I had to reroot.
So if you haven't already, unlock your bootloader and I used CFAutoRoot to gain root access on LRX22C. May want to install custom recovery as well...
Yeah, I was trying to use the toolkit in the Original Dev section but didn't work.
Will try CFauto tonight.
Thanks

So I was on the CFAutoRoot home page and saw that the root was based on LRX21L. Good to use that for LRX22c?

That's the version I used. All is well
CFAutoRoot worked for me and I am on LRX22C
Or install recovery and just flash the SU Zip. CF should also be updated and working. No longer need the kernel patch.

Change default Android market

Hi.
How set Google play as default market instead mi store without root?
I installed play store and I don't like root my phone.
Tnx
You can't while the MI store is in there.
Either root and freeze or install a custom rom.
Hopefully now a developer rom is out a global one will follow which will be without Chinese bloat.

Can I root phone and remove mi store then unroot phone?
Is there a way to unroot the phone?
Mot sure on unroot. But you cannot remove it only freeze it. It's baked into miui so if you remove the phone will brick itself. So definitely not advised.

Most super user tools can unroot but the best by far is SuperSU. It has the option to do a full unroot and it would work for you I think.
Rooting is quite a chore really. I did it by installing kingroot app and then using terminal emulator to install SuperSU app and binaries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euK91peMIEI instructions are on this video. I do suggest kingroot app to the one in the video links.

In video miui ROM of phone was global, but until now global ROM not available in official site!!!
http://en.miui.com/download-298.html
Yes, that ROM is not official. But this process works on the official ROM too. But I had no success on any ROM higher than 7.1.1. There is an official ROM bearing that version number, I'm running on it now. I don't know if you can get an ota update while rooted, I haven't tried it. Also I'm not sure of the outcome of ota updating your phone after unrooting, though I have read that many users have done it and had no complaints. I'm not going to update my ROM because I'm interested in keeping root. But you could try it. SuperSU even has a possibility to stay intact through an ota update. But I've never tried it.
