PS4 remote play - TouchPad Themes and Apps

Hi everyone,
This little thread so you know that the PS4 Remote Play port is working great on my 32Go Wifi Touchpad running the 4.4.4 Cyanogenmod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/ps4-remote-play-t2929147
The Touchpad is a unbelievable little piece of hardware refusing to give up (thanks to the devs).

Thank you for posting this. It force closes on cm 9 4.0.4
Will be updating

Ps4 remote play now works , but Sixaxis does not. Does anyone have it working over usb otg? As I understand cm11 builds have Bluetooth issues
Anyone find a rom that works with both?

Strange.
My DS4 did work over Bluetooth. (Except the home, option and share buttons but this was not a problem as there is shortcuts for them on the screen).
I'll test again soon and get back to you.

Ok, so i did get a little bit over excited.
The L2/R2 buttons do not work.
I'll investigate and post here if i find a way to make them work.
Sorry about that.

Ok, was your ds4 linked to your ps4 primary account?
Mine isn't (and i do not want to do it ) but this might solve our problem.
Can you try and give me a feedback ?
Thanks.

I think we may be having some miscommunication, I am trying to pair the DS4 Directly to the touchpad via the App Sixaxis Controller. I am aware of the 'use a secondary account with the ds4 connected to the ps4 itself method' but I was hoping for remote play outside of the home.

Haven't gotten mine to work yet, touchpad is being stubborn from a different network. But you should be able to use the sixaxis pair tool and download the version of the app that has invisible touch buttons and there is a pre made key map in post 3 of the remote play thread. Works fine on my phone and should scale to work on the touchpad screen.

with some of the new 5.1 builds i've been able to get the sixaxis to show up, but still doesn't work properly. hopefully this is progress at least!

Hi guys wanted to know where can I get the latest apk version cause the last remote app I downloaded the PS 4 refused to connect because it wanted me to update the remote app

Does Sixaxis Work on Galaxy Tab?

I am 99% sure that I have seen other people saying they have played emulators on their 10.1 using a ps3 Sixaxis controller.
I have downloaded the compatibility checker and it doesn't display a Bluetooth address at the bottom? I tried manually inputting the Bluetooth address from my settings screen, but still no joy.
I am running Starburst and pershoot kernel!
Thanks

You have to root the Tablet first before using the sixaxis app
Got it working now.
For some reason it wasn't asking for root access when I installed it before.

as far as i read already, the compatibility-check is worth nothing.
some say their check failed, but it worked though. other stated the check passed, and the app didn't work
another question: i get a ps3 controller from one of my friends. if i pair the controller with my tab via the pc-tool, will the controller still work on my friends ps3? does he have to re-pair the controller with the ps3? or will this be done automatically?
(i know that my questions may sound stupid, but as long as it's not my controller i want to make sure i won't damage anything).
thanks

Can't see why not, as long as you have the blue tooth enabled on the tab then it should still work.
strange...paired the controller via usb, pc and the pairing-tool.
installed sixaxis. started the app, clicked start, pressed the power-button of the controller, the lights on the controller stopped blinking and the light 1 stayed, sixaxis said 'client connected: 1'. then i changed the input method to sixaxis (activated it before in the settings).
but it doesn't seem to work in snesoid?! selected "use input method", tried to map the keys, but the controller doesn't seem to get recognized / to work.
am i missing something? what steps did you proceed to get it working? i'm desperate now, trying to get it to work since hours...
thanks for your help.
ps: the device is rooted and sixaxis got superuser rights.

This exact thing happened to me too, and I realized that my actual Input Method was still the keyboard. Once I changed it to SixAxis everything worked.

Hello, i was searching on the net for answers and your site was the most likely can answer them... i have a samsung galaxy tab p1000, and i want it to run the sixaxis controller. it shows connection failed ( so i guess it isnt compatible) but i saw that if i put a cyanogenmod in the tab, it will work... is this true or i must lose my hope of controlling my tab with a ps3 controller?

well. the 10.1 got the capability. but i read the normal tab (7 inch one) doesnt have the bluetooth protocol to pair with the controller. there is something that i can do to be able to pair (hence the cyanogenmod rom) or just forget it and play in the screen?

USB Gamepad?

I just got my USB OTG cable and I wanted to hook in a controller so I can use it for emulators. The PS3 controller doesn't seem to be recognized. Anyone know of any solutions?

When I tried the App, it stated that I didn't have the right protocol. Hence why I am looking for another option.

Of course, that's not the problem, the problem is the Bluetooth Stack on the SGSII AT&T apparently doesn't support the needed protocol. This also was confirmed on their site where they said there was an inability to use it with newer Samsung Devices.
You need to be running CM7 of Muiu, which use the working bluetooth stack.

I'm running Cognition right now, I'll try to see about splicing in CM7's Bluetooth Stack then, though I've heard mixed things about CM7's Stack working properly in terms of displaying Track Names over Bluetooth.

It can be done with Honeycomb 3.1 I thought when they announced it a future update (anything past 2.3.3 I thought) was going to include it for Gingerbread, looks like we just have to wait for ICS
TBH the idea of a wireless controller is more attractive to me anyway. A PS3 controller can be combined with a market app to do the job? If so, would it be able to function as the input device for, say, NES/SNES emulators?

Yes, typically you can remap the buttons and do such. Since I have been unable to do such, I'm trying to track down a bluetooth gamepad that I could use with my device that isn't a PS3 controller. There are some on the market, just trying to find the best option.

Have you confirmed that the OTG cable is working for more "common" stuff?
The PS3 controller isn't a fully standard HID device, so requires a special kernel driver to work. I'll try to whip up a test kernel for you to try in a day or two.
FYI, in addition to the kernel support issue you may be subject to the same limitations as PS3 controllers on the Tab 10.1 - the PS3 controller MUST be fully charged prior to connection or it'll try to charge and trigger an overcurrent trip.

It's next to impossible to do stack-splicing between CM7/MIUI and Samsung stock ROMs. I've never seen it done.
OTG Connects a Keyboard and USB Flash Drives. I tested it with a WD 500GB desktop drive also, works well.
I can say that the PS3 controller works great with the EEE Pad when it is plugged in, no Bluetooth support in Honeycomb. Though once ICS comes out, we should have native Gamepad support through USB then. That's going to be a glorious day.

For what it's worth, I went ahead and got a DualShock 3 controller, the Sixaxis Controller app, and SNesoid/N64oid. After initial configuration they all work extremely well together, allowing some good on-the-go gaming. Now I'll finally have something to do on long car rides or between classes. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
Note: I am running Cyanogenmod 7, which avoids the problem described here.
I just tried it with my PS3 controller. Works extremely well.
- First use the compatibility app to get a MAC address looking string, write it down somewhere.
- Then go on your computer, browse to dancing studio website and download the driver install app.
- While the driver install app is running, plug the PS3 controller into your PC, Windows 7 actually told me something like the driver has not been approved with MS, ignore it and proceed.
- Type the MAC address that you've obtained in step 1, and update the controller
- Download the Sixaxis app from marketplace for $1.79. Run it. Turn on your PS3 controller. Everything should be detected and it will ask to turn on Sixaxis Input method.
- Open up SNESdroid, map buttons, enjoy AWESOME gaming.
edit: I'm on Entropy's completely stock rom, but rooted of course.

Will this work with a normal stock without root? Thanks
hi brought an otg cable for my i777 and i can't get it to recognize my phone even with a power usb hub any help please using shostock rom 2.2.6
I was able to get a Playstation(2) USB controller adapter to work with an OTG cable in one of the ICS leaks. Also was able to get an original Xbox controller to work. But, since the leaks were found to be brick-happy, I've switched to AOKP with the Siyah kernel. The kernel works with keyboards and mice with OTG, but not game controllers yet, and the bluetooth stack isn't capable of connecting to a PS3 controller or Wiimote currently with CM-based ICS.

[Q] sgs2 wiimote and mhl both working (on one rom)?

Hi All,
I searched for info on this and found a few old threads but the last replies were in August, and the threads only addressed half the issue, so I thought I would post a new thread.
The Problem: AOSP roms can connect to the wiimote no problem but they do not support MHL out. Samsung based roms support MHL out but cannot connect to a wiimote.
I would love to be able to use my sgs2 as a portable emulator setup
Is anyone working on any kind of solultion to this?
Will AOSP roms be able to output to hdmi at some point or is there a licensing issue i dont know about?
Does anyone know a workaround to get the wiimote to connect to a stock rom (by replacing the bluetooth stack or something)?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Was also wondering this same thing. I have also tried to find out if ICS will be pushed out to our phone anythime soon as this is rumored to fix this also.

The simple solution is ditch the wiimote and use a PS3 controller instead as https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller works on stock Samsung ROMs.

Six Axis Controller App, syncing ps3 controller issue.

I seen a few posts where people have managed to sync their ps3 controller with the six axis controller app. For the live of me I tried a few builds of Android and none of them allow me to sync the controller to bluetooth. At this point for those who got it to work or use it frequently, what version of your rom are you using? Do you know any app that allows you to change bluetooth mac address on the android device or Touchpad Rom? Let me know because I have troubleshooting steps that I need to try that require me to change the bluetooth mac address on the hp touchpad but all the instructions I have found have not helped me because the folder structure described is not consistent with what is in my folder. I thank you ahead all of you ahead of time because I value your help, and I apologize if I have missed something during my extensive research.
HP TOUCHPAD
version of android: update-cm-10.1-20131121-SNAPSHOT-BLUETOOTH-tenderloin 4.2.2
Bluetooth turns on and it works just fine with this version.
The PS3 controller doesnt connect to Android by itself. This is the only way I have done it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller&hl=en
The problem is that I have done everything in the instructions, downloaded the pairing app, and change the mac per what the app shows in android. I already installed and downloaded the app but it won't pair regardless. I seen a few resolutions to changing the hp touchpad address to the bluetooth address used in motion joy.
If it has worked for you and is still working for you in the hp touchpad let me know what rom you are using to try and see if its rom related. I am using an original ps3 controller that syncs to motion joy with no issues, and has synced before just fine. I used the pairing tool to load the mac address of the hp touchpad into the ps3 controller and it doesn't pair with the hp touchpad. I managed to pair other devices through bluetooth. If anyone can help I'll appreciated it.

I'm also at the same point as you in my efforts to pair a PS3 controller to my Touchpad. I only just got my own OTG cable so I was hoping with only a little effort I could get it working. At this point it's a bit frustrating; like you I've apparently changed the MAC address to the same as the Touchpad but the Sixaxis utility just keeps on "listening for devices" and the controller just blinks.
I am not using the latest build though.. it's actually 4 months old now, but I did install it because I thought the Bluetooth worked: 10.1-20130808-EXPERIMENTAL-tenderloin-BLUETOOTH_TEST
I probably should update my ROM.
I posted about this a while back. GL

Dualshock 3 support removed from Marshmallow update?

I've been using my PS3 controller wirelessly with my Xperia Z2 for a few years now, along with my mhl 3.0 adapter, it's been brilliant at playing on my HDTV.
I've just upgraded to the official Marshmallow 6.0.1 firmware and noticed that it only seems to have options for Dualshock 4 connectivity.
If I plug the Dualshock 3 in via usb otg, it works, but when I try connecting via bluetooth, it asks me to input a pin number, which I don't have, and shouldn't need.
Does anyone have any info regarding this?
Or even better, does anyone know a way Dualshock 3 support can be pulled from the Lollipop firmware and integrated into the Marshmallow update, if Sony are going to be so annoying as to remove it all together?
PS: I've also tried the Sixaxis Controller app on the play store and it doesn't seem to function at all.

The new Marshmallow update on mine also doesn't show PS3 controller connectivity because the PS3 is getting too old for new software to handle. There is a solution that may help though, and that is the dualshockmanager.apk file (or something like that) that could be ported or installed on marshmallow to bring compatibility back. Make a new forum on the Xperia Z2 help & troubleshooting section and ask if someone who is running Lollipop, can upload the dualshockmanager.apk from their phone. Hope this helps.
Try use old dualshockconnect from 5.1
