I have recently purchased the Gear S. I had a Gear Fit before, I I was able to trigger Tasker tasks from the Gear Fit, but I can't find a way to do that on the Gear S.
I haven't rooted the Gear S yet, and I've tried to install Tasgear, but that doesn't seem to work.
I've installed the App Launcher (I used that app on the Gear Fit to trigger Tasker tasks), but can't find a way to get that to work on the Gear S.
Any suggestions?
Hi
You can't launch tasks direct unless you do one of 2 things.
Install wearable widgets and then on the phone set up the tasks you want as widgets and you can run them.
Or get app factory and turn the profiles into a full app which you can then use with app launcher.
Both however require bt connection to the phone.
Thanks
Dagaz

Hi, today i bought the fit for 60€ and it works as i expected, i have an Lg G2.
I know that s-healt don't work but it's possible to sync steps on some app on the phone?
Are there apps that i can use when running/cycling that talk with the GFit and use his sensors?
Thank you in advance guys.
I think it's practically useless without a Samsung device
I have a stock unrooted LG G2 (802 model) and can connect fine using GFM app. I bought it for notifications, which work fine. I used trigger app to sort out auto bluetooth reconnect as well.
My frustration is that some CUP ENABLED apps work fine through app connect, like camera remote and G Maps Navigation, others don't like Golf Navi+ for Gear Fit or swing by swing gps. There must be a reason at the app developer end but can I fix this myself?
I've read that location dependent apps are the issue so I'm looking for a 3rd party location app that the gear fit will communicate with...
Update
Thanks to the AUS DROID site I tried this.
------------------------------
If you would like to get Gear Fit apps running as well continue with the following instructions:
Using a root file browser (I use and prefer Root Explorer open up the build.prop file within /system
Change the following lines within the build.prop
ro.product.model=GT-I9505
ro.product.brand=samsung
ro.product.name=SM-900S
ro.product.device=SM-900S
------------------------------
On reboot, all my connect apps work, calendar, golf navi+ for gear fit, messages, google maps navigation, phone, swing by swing golf gps.
I saw a similar post on XDA using HTC values but couldn't find it again.
Weather on the clock not fixed but am I bothered...
OK, I had to root the G2, so SKY Go is out of action for now unless that can be fixed as well.
Hi,
Today someone told me via Google Plus how to install Gear Manager on non-Samsung mobiles. His name is Serge Berig. So 100% Credits go to him. I am just posting here what he posted in Google Plus. His Phone is Moto X and Mine in LG G2. Worked perfectly fine.
My Test Scenarios:
1. LG G2 D802 Rooted. Rooting is not required as his Moto X is unrooted.
2. I am using a separate SIM on Gear S.
3. I have disabled mobile data and Wifi on both Gear S and my mobile
How it Works:
1. Download Gear Manager Latest Version and GearManagerStub.apk from this link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/e7h23e12rzesi/Gear_Manager (Credit goes to the uploader)
2. Download these APK Files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3uemtAJSY3PVDFiY0FsVGRLN28/view?usp=sharing (Credit goes to Serge)
3. Move these files to your phone.
4. 1st install Gear Manager, then GearManagerstb.apk, then all remaining apks.
5. Open Gear Manager on your phone and viola. It connects, Resets your Gear S in case you used it before and as far as i checked everything Works
I did not test each and everything. As far as i know most thing works. Previously i had "Connecting Forever" Issue, now it connects straight away. I am using my Gear S as complete independent to Mobile Calls and SMS from my Mobile. I have not set any forwarding options or notification for Call and SMS from my mobile to Gear S.
Pls post your results
What's not Working:
1. Can't Transfer Music/Images from Phone
2.
I was just coming here to post this.
I can confirm this works on my stock G3.
Works:
Calls work, but i had to switch to the phone then back to bluetooth. Initially there was no audio. However that may have been a glitch, because it works after that without flipping back.
Notifications (you have to allow Gear Manager access to the notifications in Android System Menu)
Home Screen Styler
Find My Gear
Contacts pull down to Gear
Not Working:
Music player seems to be controlled through Gear Manager and not A2DP. So we may have to install Samsung Music player. Still investigating.
Transferring files to the Gear through Gear Manager crashes goproviders.apk. This also broke my notifications. Had to reboot the phone to get it back working.
Call Logs dont pull down
Weather app is missing
Receiving SMS in the watch SMS app. You get the notifications just fine, but the GEAR SMS app can't sync your conversations

I would imagine there is a newer goprovider.apk. The one he posted is 2.0.337.337. Thats the older one from the Gear 1/2 Gear Manager.
All the Samsung Gear S apps are version 2.2 and up. I was experimenting with the old Gear Manager and got similar crashes.
Just thought I'd chime in and let you know that I have the same version on my Note 4 with the Gear S. 2.0.337
Thanks for checking on that. It's got to be a missing lib or some TouchWiz framework.
It's not even a feature I care about, but i'm sure it will be needed later.
I'm still trying to find a fix for the music player controls.

Did you install the Stub Manager and all the 8 or so other APK's?
If you skipped the initial activation screen, make sure bluetooth is on, on the Gear S.
Also, try unpairing in the phone bluetooth menu then reopen Samsung Gear manager.

yes i installed the latest gear manager app as well as stub manager apk and other apks provided
this is my first time setting this watch up. my devices pair up but when i go to paired devices in the gear manager and try to connect, on my phone it says "connecting to gear" and the gear just has the "to connect to your mobile device, select the name of this gear in the samsung gear application" message
*EDIT*
got it working . i uninstalled everything that dealt with the gear under app manager in my phone and unpaired the device under bluetooth and re-installed everything again. it re-paired itself and it is working now.
I must have missed an APK somewhere
Glad to hear you got it working. Try some of things I listed as not working and see if you have different results. The more info we have, the better!
Music and images not worming here as well.
if I disconnect from Bluetooth my calls don't get forwarded to my watch. Can't send out text messages as well
Yeah I just want to chime in saying this isn't a fully working solution, but it works enough to keep me satisfied for now.
I'm sure as we get more people wearing these, more will jump on board to fix the issues we have.

I just got what I believe is my second firmware update to ANJ7. (Not a Gear Manager update)
I can't recommend Wearable Widgets enough especially on the Gear S
It works by creating a bridge from your phone to the watch for just about any widget that will fit on a 2" screen without it being too small to read.
I have experimented with a few widgets and 2 favourites are the BBC weather widget and Timely, but most impressive is an app called "HD Widgets". https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cloudtv.hdwidgets&hl=en_GB
With this one I was able to quickly design a clock and weather widget and then use wearable widgets to display it on my Gear S. See screenshot.
There is so much potential, they have 2 apps in the Gear Store, one is Wearable Widgets Clock and the other is Wearable Widgets for Gear The first one allows you to create any widget and use it as a clock. That's good for keeping a selected widget always available. The second app (which it states does not have Samsung approval - but it works regardless) Allows you to open the app on the watch and view as many widgets as you want, on a 'one per page' view. Note that in order to have more than 1 widget, you need to upgrade to the pro version which was about £1 roughly. Definitely worth it. And if I have made this sound complicated, trust me it's not. It's very quick and easy.
You will need the free app for your phone in order to set everything up:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wearablewidgets&hl=en_GB
Hope this has been useful.

Cannot find the wearable widget clock. Can you give me a link or something?
Go into the Gear store via Gear Manager and you will find it in the CLOCK category about one page down.
Note that some people say that some (random) apps don't appear. I cannot find the app called "Bike!" which someone else has for example!

How to set as a screen to the right
So regarding the wearable widgets for gear s (Not the clock version), I see that I can scroll down to the app then get my widget but what I really want is to replace one of the screens to the right of the clock with one of the widgets. I really like my watch face and don't want to replace it. It is too much swiping around to get to the widget in the app dwar that is below the clock. Am I missing something?
Thanks

It's not currently possible to add anything to those pages other than the pre-installed Samsung widgets. You can of course move the app icon to the top of the app drawer (tap and hold then drag) that will save you a bit of thumb work!

Need to update Gear S for more compatability
Samsung really needs to update their gear S Tizen software to be more compatible. We should be able to add whatever app we want to one of the widget slots to the right of the clock. Also no gmail or facebook app. WTF! The wearable widgets is an okay work around but I find there is an obnoxious delay when trying to scroll through the gmail widget and If I have to pull my phone out to look at the email after selecting it from the gear s widget then I might as well go straight to the phone in the first place.
The gear S has a lot of potential but the software just is not there yet..... I have never used an android wear watch yet but I wonder if it does some of this better. But I do really like being able to reply to txts from my watch or answer calls which android wear can not do.

Regarding your email issue, I am now using the stock Samsung email app. It's not as good as the Gmail one but it gets the job done and more importantly it is fully compatible with the Gear's email app and notifications. I also think Facebook will follow.
Now with the Gear S.. there are some shortcomings I agree but it's still in its infancy. I bought the original Gear when it first launched and there weren't any apps for it, just some additional (and ugly) watch faces. It was expensive and I could easily have written it off as a waste of money. However things quickly picked up, the Gear store grew, developers did some amazing mods and roms for it, Samsung added Tizen and that meant more apps. I started appreciating it more. And I kept it right up to the Gear S purchase.
I am certain the Gear S will go the same way. There is a lot more potential with this than any other smartwatch as it has a large screen, a keyboard, wifi, gps and a cellular connection. These are all useful for a huge amount of development potential. I am also confident that Samsung will add more functionality and iron out the usability issues.
I bought an 'LG G watch R' initially, believing that Android Wear was the going to offer so much more. I had the watch for 24hrs before sending it packing. It was lame compared to Tizen and quite frankly unattractive and limited. It's designed to be a notification slave and not really cater for apps and standalone features. It hasn't exactly moved on much since it was announced either.
So hang on in there mate, and concentrate on how amazing this watch is in every other way. It's a cracking gadget and it's a keeper for me.

Wearable widgets on gear s
Ok I am using an orange icon that says gear in it... I downloaded and installed both wearable widgets and I even upgraded but it does not show me how to get it to the watch.. I did click one thing on my wearable widgets app on my phone and it says I need gear manager.. I downloaded gear manager, but will not install, I'm assuming because of the gear app I currently use... If I remove the one that's orange and has gear written in it.. Will I lose what I have created clock wise and app wise alike?
You can use 4x4 widget also. The watch will scale it down.
Oh heck yea! This works great. Expands the Gear S tremendously in my opinion.
Sounds interesting. But will this work without a bluetooth connection to the pone too? A connection (over WLAN or remote) should be necessary, right? But will it work just with remote over 3G? And what says the battery?
questions
Has anyone found that wearable widgets drains battery. Is it possible to disable the watch home screen and leave wearable widgets running so when i wake the watch wearable widgets is running and i can just swipe over to next widget. Is there a watchface that can be used where i can launch the app just by touching the screen.
And unrelated but is there an app where i can see a full calendar in month view that can sync with splanner/google calendar.
Im trying to decide between switching from my omate to the gear s so im just trying to weigh my options.

Yes WW drain the batt, you must be carefull with the WW oprion. WW as a watchface app so it is the standard Gear Clock and you can swipe from the face to other widget.
You have also another watchface for Gear with launcher and you can add shortcut for 4 to 20 apps on one face.
I now have a Gear S and a Gear 2. I was thinking about keeping the Gear 2 as it is smaller and better for occasions when I am wearing a suit and such. It looks a little fancier. It doesn't seem I can use the same apps on both. If I download an app for one watch, it doesn't seem it can then be downloaded again for the other. In order to get my old apps to work on my Gear S I had to uninstall them from my gear 2. If I can't I will just sell my Gear 2.
Any suggestions?
