[Q] Best AOSP ROM - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there,
can someone please tell me which is the best and the most stable AOSP rom for our Galaxy S3 I9300...
since there are so many of them, i am actually confused which one to go with!!
i know "Each to his Own" but still ...
my requirements would be:
1. Should have fully stable camera and video capability.
2. Should be 4.4.x
Friends kindly share your thoughts & experience ...
Thank you

1.I don't think that is any aosp that has 100% bug free camera.
Anyway you can try ArchiDroid, I see a lot of positive things about it

Hello.
Try Biftor slimkat 4.4.4.
It is my daily driver since I found it. Super battery saver, hiper costumizable and absolutely stable!
Take care.

Yes, I'm sure.
But don't ask "what's the best". More info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612881
Just flash several ROMs and you will find the best for you.
Try CM10. It's smooth and can be used as a daily driver. All games work and everything as far as I know.

[Q] Developers and Android 4.3.0

Hello.
1. Are there some devs here that that already have JB roms like 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 and are now working on building a 4.3.0 rom?
I do know that CM 10.2 it out in early stage.
Don´t know if dews want to keep unreleased work a secret, but it would be nice to know if some recognized devs are at least planning on a rom based on 4.3.0 for our SGS2
2. What advantages and features/new things can we expect with 4.3.0?
Thanks for answers

features such as restricted user profiles (only on tablets), Bluetooth Low Energy profile, virtual surround sound, autocomplete for dialpad, improved keyboard, OpenGL ES 3.0 support and a handful of other things
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529173
Think about it this way...You're a developer; the SGS2 was released >2 yrs ago & has been superceded twice (and will likely be superceded again within 12 mths), why would you bother putting yourself through the kind of grief you go through (as a result of Samsung's stupidity with sources) everytime a new Android version is released yet again for a phone 3x superceded ?
Answer - very few devs would bother. If I were one, I would have moved on from the SGS2 12 mths ago.

Why close it? At least give me a reason thank you.
@MistahBungle
I get your point.
But the other roms live on. It´s still has a large amount of users in the world.
Why not do it just for fun? That it can be done? The dev still use a SGS2?
I can think of many reasons to do a rom based on 4.3.0.
Custom 4.3 ? Yes there's a few sorting this as we speak. Some are in testing now. Read threads mate.

I'm losing my hopes for a Cyanogenmod for our device, developers seem to be a bit lazy working on it. Since we have a Cyanogenmod 11 working, with only a few bugs, which seem to be getting fixed slowly by the developers of SG Ace 2X, the only problem left is the network connection issue, but looks like nobody cares ...

Bro, let's be honest and real, there are Cyanogenmod 10 and 11 versions for very low-end devices, did they all have ports? No. Usually they built Cyanogenmods from the source, now THAT is a really hard thing, we have a Cyanogenmod 11 that works on our device almost flawlessly without even porting the ROM, and we have quite enough developers now, I think. So to be honest, we are lazy...

Build from Samsung source
Maybe I am too stupid, but why one can not start from the S Duos Samsung sources and integrate CM 11 stuff.
Samsung source for Duos are available and this would allow to have a network for 2 sims available.
What I am missing here ????????????

CM Development of dual sim is not possible bcoz CM team has not created any source for dual sim phones...They only Support single sim devices.

Even we can get the network to work on CM 11, it is just a small patch to system/core. But to create that patch we need someone who has knowledge in Java and Smali editing.
Forget about dual sim
I don't want dual sim if only one sim is working it's fine
but plzzzz make this rom work

In fact, your Linux developement skills will definitely come in handy.
Since we have Kitkat sources, we just need to pull out some proprietary files from original Kitkat ROM, make a device tree and try to build CM11. There will be some problems, but there is always some people, that are willing to help.

Wouldn't mind it at all.
Only thing now is that I'll need to set up a Linux PC at home (currently only have it at work and a Windows PC at home). Of course I can try developing on Windows for a Linux target, but from my experience it's way more effective when your development host runs Linux. Guess I'll only have the chance doing that in a week or so, as we have a long holiday here now.

My girlfriend has an Optimus L7II and I'd love nothing more than to go right her some cm11 goodness. Stock is so bloated and slow. It's really annoying hearing her complain about it, knowing I can't to much about it. I've been flashing things for years and was a bit heartbreaking to see there's not much to choose from for this particular device.

Great to see you here as well mate.
It seems like we have a good head start in terms of people involved, we just need to organize our efforts.
I have opened the L7 II CM11 Kickstart thread in the Development section. I think this should be the place to coordinate our efforts.
there are a few custom roms
in fact there is an unofficial CM 11 for the LG Optimus L7 II (wich i own myself)
Theres also a kitkat modded stock rom but i highly recommend the unofficial CM.
Unofficial CM 11 link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/opt...opment/rom-cyanogenmod11-lg-p710-713-t2979880
