no way to get a390 rooted
hi! i'm trying to root and setup a recovery on this phone but i cannot do it...
tried with no luck:
- scoutdriver73's method: sp flash tool hint me that it can download only a full image
- root with recovery method: script doesn't recognize when i confirm on smartphone for the reset, same for root option in mtk droid tools
- this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332783 for extract boot.img and recovery.img and fix root permission with mtk droid tool, i get this error: 0 [main] gzip 4324 find_fast_cwd: WARNING: Couldn't compute FAST_CWD pointer when i load my recovery.img on mtk tool.
i noticed there is a size difference between TWRP img i downloaded from web (5640Kb) and the one i extrated directly from phone (6144kb)
any suggest?
thanks
(LATE REPLY) This is how I rooted my a390
I noticed the post is 10 months ago, but I'm replying right now because there may be other users hunting for root solutions for this device.
How to root your Lenovo a390:
1. Download Framaroot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
Framaroot is an Android app created by XDA user alephzain. It allows you to root your device directly from your Android device-please click on link above to view full compatibility list. Download and Install this app. If it says "Installation blocked", go to your phone's Settings>Security and tick the "Unknown Sources" box. (Believe me, there are n00bs )
2. Open Framaroot. For the a390, there is only one exploit-Boromir, since it's a Mediatek powered device. Select Boromir.
3. Now you see two buttons: Install Superuser and Install SuperSU. You need to select only one of them. Framaroot will then root your device and install Superuser/SuperSU. (Superuser/SuperSU are apps which control root operations on your device ie. ensure no app uses root features without your permission-it is a MUST.)
The choice is up to you, but I'd recommend Superuser since it's like the Industry standard of rooted Android phones.
4. Reboot your phone. You'll find Superuser installed. Open it, swipe from left to right to access Superuser settings. The su binary is outdated and it'll appear in a red font. Tap it to update su binary.
This is proof enough that your phone is rooted, but if you really need to see, here's one more step.
5. Install Root checker from Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck
Run this app, and if your phone is rooted, Superuser will come up automatically asking you whether Root Checker should be granted permission- press Yes and root Checker will deliver the result.
That's it-congratulations, you've rooted your a390 without any pain. Now you can flash a recovery, install Busybox, overclock your phone, get rid of the dumb apps Lenovo has included with the a390.... Enjoy!
Dear all,
SORRY FOR BAD ENGLISH
SCREEN SHOTS ARE COMING SOON
IT'S UPDATED AGAIN SO READ IT AGAIN
THIS UPDATE FIXES VARIOUS ISSUE. LAST UPDATED ON 6/SEP/2013
First of all, I don't take any responsibility if you brick your phone or something goes wrong. I personally tested this on QMobile Noir A8 with Android 4.1.1 Jelly bean. i have seen that many of you have facing problem for rooting qmobile a8. so i made this post by combining two to three post. here now I'll share with you. My english is not good as yours. so sorry for that. By the way this is my first post.
Firstly install CWM Recovery by using SP Flash tool Method and then Root your Qmobile A8 4.1.1 by installing Super su binary from CWM Recovery
Precaution: Do not update SuperSu app after Root
Reason: Because after same days google play store will not work and give you (no connection error). many user have faced this problem. Try to use SuperSu v1.45 apk (already included in rooting package and will directly install to your mobile system, no need to update it, app will work properly)
Advice for NON-ROOT and ROOT Users: Make sure after every reboot, your device date and time is correctReason; Because net working app required correct date and time, so it wont give you any network connection error. other wise internet browser, google play store, facebook app and other apps will give you this error.

MT6577 Usb VCOM Drivers (W8/W7/Vista/XP)
UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip
SP Flash Tool v3.1252.1.rar new working software
ROOTING.rar new working scatter_emmc.txt in it
3. copy UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip to SDCARD/ folder. (not in any subfolder, so the path is sdcard\UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip)
4. Extract Usb drivers folder, MT6577 USB VCOM driver folder, Rooting folder and spflashtool folder to desktop.
5. With phone on, connect the phone to the computer and start USB Debugging or start USB Debugging for permanently before connecting to computer by going to Settings > Developer Options and ticking the USB debugging checkbox.
6. Install the Drivers to it through A8 Usb Drivers from device manager. don't disconnect
7. Now switch the phone off, disconnect and reconnect the phone to the computer again. It’ll ask you to install another driver. Install it from the Preloader MT6577 Usb VCOM Drivers. If windows 7/8 is not giving you option to install it manually then open MT6577 USB VCOM driver folder that you extracted to desktop and execute installdriver.exe as administrator. after that it will give you successful installation message popup. If installation unsuccessful it might be you don't have install drivers correctly or drivers is already installed. continue to next step,
[FOR ANY PROBLEM READ SPECIAL NOTE BELOW THE POST OR CONTACT ME DIRECTLY ON FACEBOOK]
8. now successfully install drivers disconnect your phone. make sure your phone still switch off.
9. now pull out the battery for 5 to 10 sec.
10. Run Flash_Tool.exe from SP Flash Tool folder (run as administrator if you are using windows 7/8, in my case I was using windows 7 x32bit). Now click on Scatter-loading button and choose MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc_PMT.txt file from Rooting Folder that you have extracted to Desktop.
11. In bottom list make sure u have only check (tick) to recovery
12. pull in the battery.
13. Click Download button in Flash tool. If get a warning pop-up, click on Yes.
14. Connect your phone to the PC now. (Ensure when download was clicked your phone was not connected to the computer). If any problem occurs that's mean you are using different version of spflash tool or preloader VCOM drivers is not correctly install,
15. upon successful flashing you will see the green circle icon. If it doesn't then first install drivers for your phone.
16. You have successfully flashed Clockworkmod Recovery to your device.
17. Now you have to install Super su binary from Clockworkmod Recovery.
18. Power off your phone. Press Power + Volume Up buttons to boot your device on Clockworkmod Recovery.
19. select install zip from sdcard by using volume key buttons.
20. select UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip that u have copied before to sdcard by using screen on/off button.
21. It will automatically install Super su binary from it.
22. then reboot your device.
23. after that you will find SuperSu app in App Drawer. If you can see it that's mean you have successfully rooted you mobile. If you cant see it that's mean you have done something wrong on installation. try to redo it else comment your problem.
24. Now show off some dance moves or just yell like a mad person because you have rooted your phone,
Special NOTE:-
Everyone is getting the problem when you connected your phone to ur laptop or pc it automatically install a driver Namely android composite adb interface. And on step 5 when you turned off your phone and then reconnected it and try to install any drivers but it didn't install any drivers.
HOW TO SOLVE IT:-
1. android composite adb interface is the right driver so don't take any tension
2. If windows 7/8 is not giving you option to install drivers manually then open MT6577 USB VCOM driver folder that you you extracted to desktop and execute installdriver.exe as administrator. after that it will give you successful installation message.

Due to lack of tutorials which contained CLEARLY written instructions on how to root LG Optimus L9 with Chinese method, I decided to write my own in which I'll explain everything step-by-step.
I also found (as I think) a 100% working way to restore normal SuperSU and delete the Chinese one, after resarching on it for about 5 hours.
WARNING: USE INFORMATION AND FILES AT YOUR OWN RISK. You follow this tutorial and use method described here at your own risk.
Step 1: Download and install LG drivers.
Because of the post limit I cannot post direct link to download, but they can be found here, in step 3): CLICK
Step 2: Download and install Chinese root.
a) Download this file: www--mgyun.com/vroot (replace -- with a dot .)
b) Install the software, using the installation buttons as you would on any other windows installation.
c) Connect your phone to your PC with ENABLED USB debugging and select "LG Software" as connection option.
d) Start the program, you will see a green button, press it.
e) When the phone is connected the software will recognise the phone and the green button will show "ROOT", click on it.
f) The phone is going to be rooted in some seconds and the process is finished when it will show a tick on the software.
g) The phone will reboot.
Tutorial taken from this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439667
Credits for it to aristide1997
Step 3: Download SuperSU application from Google Store.
Step 4: Launch SuperSU application.
a) It'll ask you to install SU binaries. Select NORMAL if you don't have TWRP/CWM installed.
b) A Chinese Superuser prompt will show up, asking if you want to grant SuperSU su privileges. Click the button on the right. Square should be checked.
c) If you followed previous steps correctly, SuperSU should install binaries without problems.
WARNING: It'll ask you if you want to uninstall other applications that are managing Superuser right but DON'T DO IT. If you uninstalled the Chinese Superuser, and now SuperSU doesn't work, go to Step 8.
If you encounter problems (Binaries couldn't be installed):
a) Make sure you have a strange Chinese application in your Application Drawer. It's icon is a shield with a gear inside. If not, go to Step 2 and repeat.
b) Make sure you've clicked button on the RIGHT with SQUARE CHECKED when Chinese Superuser prompt showed.
Step 5: Exit SuperSU application, reboot the phone.
Step 6: After reboot, launch SuperSU application. If there is no prompt saying that SU binaries must be installed and everything is normal, go to Step 7.
Step 7: Download Root Checker from Google Store and launch it.
a) Check for Root Status in Root Checker.
b) If there is a prompt from SuperSU, asking if you want to give Root Checker su privileges, confirm it and you're good to go. You can uninstall Chinese root.
c) If there is a prompt from CHINESE SUPERUSER, asking if you want to give Root Checker su privileges, just click back (don't confirm or deny). It means there is a problem. Go to Step 8.
Step 8 (TROUBLESHOOTING):
If you uninstalled Chinese Superuser and now SuperSU doesn't have root rights, go to a); otherwise go to b)
a) If you uninstalled Chinese Superuser and SuperSU doesn't work (saying that binaries installation failed), don't worry. Connect your phone to your PC with USB Debugging ENABLED and start Chinese Root Program again. It should find your device automatically and restore the Chinese Root. Go to Step 4 and repeat.
b) If there is a prompt from CHINESE SUPERUSER to give su rights to applications, instead of SuperSU it means that SuperSU didn't become the main Superuser application and Chinese Superuser still is managing su rights. It can be fixed though.
c) Go to Google Store and download Superuser by ChainsDD (NOT SuperSU. The application you need is named Superuser).
d) Launch it and scroll left. Click on "SU Binaries" with green text in it, under "Elite version is not installed".
e) You should see a console. There should be a red text in it, at the end about "myung" su binaries.
f) Click "Update" button.
g) A prompt will show up, if it's in Chinese click the button on the right to grant Superuser su privileges.
h) New SU binaries will be installed, making Superuser new default application to manage su rights.
i) You can now uninstall Chinese Superuser and install SuperSU or stay with Superuser.
ok so I'm completely new to all of this ROOT/Flash business... can someone tell me the easiest way to put android 4.4 on my LGMS76910e? or do I need to flash v20h first in order to move forward to get KitKat? My phone is already rooted right now. I used the chinese program and then installed SuperSu gave SuperSu Su permissions and made it a system app.... once I did that I rebooted into CWM v6.x(cant remember the whole thing) and tried to flash BobZhome's CM 11 android 4.4 for LG L9 but my phone said it couldn't be completed because my phone was a p940(I think).... so then I restarted the whole process....but haven't tried to flash BZ's stuff again.... What should I do? someone help me please!!
@halomastah09 you got very lucky that bobz set his CM11 to run on the 769's only, and when you flashed to v20h it changed your model# qand wouldn't allow you to install his rom. If it would've finished flashing you would've bricked your phone. Before you flash any custom roms to this phone you have to first unlock the bootloader.
My phone is LG MS76910e
my phone is recognized as LG P765 optimus L9. But it is a optimus L9 LG MS76910e model P769.
Does anything get screwed up if I root it?

after that, what will i get wn i open the phone?
is there some kind of a setup process
I rooted my Micromax Bolt q324with kingoroot pc software successfully but after a few days i cant able to get root access for some apps like when i install a new root app it asks me for permission then i tap grant but the app shows unable to gain root access. how to fix this issue i tried flashing my phone with stock ROM then again rooting it with kingoroot but again no luck i was unable to gain root access for some apps but when i check root access with root checker it says root access properly installed and i can go to terminal with root access but when i try to mount system as rw it shows ''Mount: operation not permiited" how to fix this issue!!!
And yes the phone is a spreadtrum sc7731 chipset device so the rom file is in .pac format but i figured that how to flash it.So i am willing to install a Custom ROM if you provide me the link of it.......

I would try this. Kingoroot and Kingroot both have their own superuser app that doesn't always work that well.
