i have upgraded if u do ota it wont break the root as its just ota , you can also do complete firmware then I am not sur e

for complete firmware:
503L
http://www.emui.com/nsp/geturl.php?path=7D-503L_EMUI3.0_Android4.4_V100R002C208B009.zip&rid=963
501u
http://www.emui.com/nsp/geturl.php?path=7D-501u_EMUI3.0_Android4.4_V100R002C208B009.zip&rid=962
i have read in the chinese forums that this version is supposed to be the one that can retain user data when upgrading from EMUI 2.3, however problems seem to exist after flashing (dark screen when camera is launched, the pull down notification menu stopping midway etc) and Huawei ended up suggesting wiping system / user data to solve them, kinda defeats the purpose. anyway, ymmv.

BTW, does anyone know how to get rid of the update prompt? It keeps nagging me to update.

In going from R001C233B021 to R002C208B009 on the 7D-501u with the OTA update, will it change the dpi from 320 to 400? If so, I'm not upgrading.

you can manually change at will the dpi after updating, by modifiyng buildprop if rooted. Or with adb commands if non rooted.
Check for (or open up yourself) a devoted DPI change thread of this forum, if you want to know more about it.

i was also pushed B009.
btw im from singapore using starhub and B008 chinese rom.
updating now.. excites much!

As far as I can tell from the other threads, changing the dpi to 320 breaks other stuff. Also some of my apps won't
work with root or with root cloak. There's no way I'm doing an upgrade that I know will break stuff rather than fix stuff, just for a slightly newer version of Android. My battery icon is already white anyway.

It Is same android version like 320 dpi kitkat!

I am in China but checking for updates tells me there is no update (I'm on 2.2). So perhaps this is still not the build intended for general release.

OK, it is now showing as available as an OTA today BUT trying to download it always ends in failure. Perhaps loads of other people are trying to download it at the same time....

Just download it from the EMUI page.

I waited for the OTA, hoping that it would not wipe the device (unlike the emui page download version?).
After taking 8 hours to download, it finally tells me it will wipe my personal data. What kind of stupid upgrade is this? No other brand of Android phone I have ever owned has wiped data on upgrading from one version to another. Very disappointing. Huawei, you must do better than this if you expect people to buy your phones more than once.

It did not wipe mine.

I just installed it, and wished I hadn't. ALL paid for apps were wiped. Other apps were also deleted. I can no longer connect to Google services (Play store, Gmail, etc). What a pile of rubbish. An OTA update shouldn't do this kind of thing. This is my first, and last, Huawei phone. Nice hardware, shame about the software.

[Q] Unable to update the new OTA released a week + ago?

Hi,

Currently at Thailand and have been for the past 2 Weeks and I'm struggling to update to the OTA which was released a week+ ago!
Currently on the .11 version.

Any kind of tips or help would be great.

Are you experiencing the same issue too?
yes anytime i try to update or any method of installing cwm gives me the same picture although i am on .13
Search works really well when you have issues
I have to say If I had a dollar for every time I see update issues like these I would be RICH!!!!! Use the XDA search feature. Its a new technology that allows you to pull data from many other users that have had these type of issues.
OK RANT OVER.
Here is cause #1 (maybe not for all of you) but for 90% of the users that have seen this issue this will happen when you root your device and change any system files, uninstall asus apps and so forth.
Cause #2: You unlocked your bootloader
To Resolve Cause #1: Restore you system files and apps that were changed or removed.
1. For users that backed them up just restore them
2. For users that deleted its a little more difficult:
- Goto Asus's website and download the same version upgrade file that you are running.
- Put the file on your micro SD card (unzipped of course)
- Reboot your device
- Update (if on the root of your SD card correctly) will be detected.
- Let it run and reboot.
- Once done you will be restored and can take further OTA updates.
To Resolve Cause #2: Wait for developers to create roms with the current update.

1.4.3 and application compatibility, reparted 1.4.2 to stock 1.4.3

here is situation:
1. I had rooted 1.4.2 with not blocked OTA and my NT updated to 1.4.3.
2. It is obvious that root and some apps stopped working and some of them even disappeared from the device (like WinAmp for example).
3. I rooted 1.4.3 with SDcard method and it looked like things are fine until I started to get my apps back.
4. I used FIREFOX as a main browser with 1.4.2 update and after registering at Play store on rooted 1.4.3 I read that FIREFOX is incompatible with my device!!! What the hell?
5. Also, my NT registered at Play as NEW device, not the old one as I had - so it seems my serial changed or something has changed in the build.prop or somewhere else in the identification part of device.
6. Besides, after root, i started installing apps and it seems Notification bar has some sort of glitches - it does not clear all the messages and keeps the last downloaded file in the list...
Can anyone point me how to fix incompatibility issue?
---------------
Now, second situation:
7. I reverted back to 1.4.2 with the img file from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663836
8. But the thing is that I want to try 1.4.3 again
9. I downloaded official update from B&N and put it onto the SDCard
10. It boots and progress bar starts to move but at some point (25% of bar) it shows me exclamation icon with '!' and says "Please restart your device and try again..."
What is this issue and how it can be fixed?
Thanks in advance.
Honestly, I have had similar issues with the play store and my Nook on 1.4.3 but if you want to block OTA updates more effectively, I have been told that the updater cannot run if you have CWM flashed rather than the stock recovery image. When I screwed my Tablet up I found that I couldn't get it to load the acclaim_update.zip or any update files until I reflashed the stock recovery image rather than CWM.

Can you share the links or files that get your nook back to normal state?
I've been reading and reading a lot the forum but still miss something important. Step-by-step guide would be much appreciated, if possible.
I have found the same problem. When I run CM7 on the NT from an SD card, I have no app compatibility issues. But when I run from rooted stock 1.4.3, I get the app compatibility error. I even tried pasting the build.prop file from CM7 into 1.4.3 but that did not correct the problem. The same apps are coming up as not compatible. What else is the Market looking at to determine compatibility?

This was actually a fix for Nook Color... to modify the build.prop. If you copy/pasted the entire build.prop I would think it would work.
One other thing to do is
1.) manage google play
2.) clear data
3.) uninstall updates
4.) manage google market
5.) clear data
6.) manage google services framework
7.) clear data
8.) reboot
This didn't always work and I had to do this a couple time. Not sure if which step made a difference or what order but it eventually worked. And I could see as many apps as my Captivate (Galaxy I).
Anyway, again, this worked for Nook COLOR and not Tablet. Or at least I havent figured Table yet. If you figure it out. Let me know.
My recent attempt was to copy the build.prop from Nexus and I got black screen after start up. Now I had to unbrick my device and I'm back to square one.
Good luck.. Keep me posted!!!!
@rtabasco - Good plan, but it didn't work. Even when I uninstalled the update and just used the Market app. Looks like 1.4.3 may have changed something other than the build.prop file. I'll keep poking around. It would help if the Play Store would provide a little more detail about the compatibility issue.
This just gets even more strange...
Restored with 1.4.2 image from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663836 and Google Play (after root with sdcard method) says "FIREFOX is incompatible..."
Also tried to restore with NT_stock_1.4.2_Ribbon_Root_B&N.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494367 and Google Play still says "FIREFOX is incompatible..." Besides 'Go Weather EX' is incompatible too - this is ridiculous.
Anyone has idea how to overcome this?

You mean - can I access 'build.prop' and change DPI there to 160? I probably can, but why exactly 160?
Why not default "169.33333"? As I understand CM7 has '160'?

Apart from the issue we are discussing in this thread that we can't figure out, a lot of compatibility issues with a rooted NT could be eliminated by changing the screen DPI to 160 in the build.prop file. My guess is that most of the apps were written for phones with 800x480 displays (or other dimensions that are easy multiples of 800x480). Making that change had worked for me to get access to most apps I wanted until this most recent problem that has been caused by changes in 1.4.3 or in the Play Store, or both working together.

Thank you for video, but I was not asking how to edit text document, but rather what this change will give me.
Well, BNs build.prop has separate settings for X and Y dimensions. Following the logic, it does not matter if DPI is set via one command or via two... Anyway, simply changing to 160 DPI and rebooting did not help me with firefox compatibility in play store as well as other apps that were noted to show incompatible.
Any other suggestions and ideas would be very much welcome!

should i update stock firmware 4.1.1?

so i never modded or rommed my phone this time. and nearly 2 years after, my phone is slow as hell. is this natural--just bloat builds up over time? if i try to send someone 2 consecutive texts, i have to wait ~1 second after the first text before i can type the next because of lag
i was wondering if updating my OS would help here, or ironically make it worse because of the old hardware.
thanks!
The S III is a good piece of hardware.
If you just update the ROM probably it will remain slow.
To speed up things you should root, backup your apps using good backup utility. I use Titanium Backup.
Take a look here: [Guide] Noobs guide to use Titanium Backup for backup and restore of apps.
Then you must wipe your phone, install a new rom, either stock or custom, restore apps and your phone will be up to speed again.
Titanium can also restore messages, call log and wifi accounts, but use the xml version of backups to restore.
And DO NOT restore system apps or other system data.

Just normal OS behavior after a few years of use, running dozens of apps and installing and uninstalling a lot more.
Also happens with windows. I always do a fresh install of Windows when moving to a new version.
As your phone runs 24/7 all the time it will become slower.
Sure you may take some preventive measures, but my advise is to use it to the fullest and just do a clean reinstall if/when you feel it is necessary.
And if you just do a dirty install, without a wipe, all crap and leftovers accumulated over time will remain there.

Please do not compare it to windows as this is not completely true. Read up on linux based operating systems.
Install a 4.4.4 rom to benefit from better security and features or atleast reset the phone if that is as far as you want to go,
your firmware your running is probably outdated for this newer stuff, when the art changes in the system you need to update a couple of things in the system or hardware for it too work. If id were you id update my firmware, modem, and bootloader but just make sure you don't update with sammy's new knox special feature lol.
After updating to the latest stock ROM, removing knox is not a problem with Chainfire's root method.

What error are you getting in Odin? Are you able to post he Odin log?
Just thought I'd chime in with some proper explanations.
Your phone has bogged down because the hardware is old now and most apps consume more CPU power than the phone can provide. Couple this with the ever expanding nature for RAM and the device will be under a lot of demand. Devices now are at least twice the hardware.
Now to the operating system itself. Android is not windows, nor linux, nor Unix. It is CLOSEST to Unix, derived from Linux and nowhere near windows even if you're blind and deaf and can't tell the difference. It really is a "bastard". The nature of android is to cache data for speed. Once this cache is full or resources run low, or android just can't kill an app for whatever reason it will bog the os down so bad the device will become unusable. I could demonstrate this VERY easily by filling up the internal memory with crap apps and dumb data and watch the device slow to a standstill (even the htc m9 I'm writing this on right now is susceptible). It's the nature of Android that causes the bogging down because it has run out of resources. It is THAT simple!.
Can we solve this bogging down by shutting down the offending apps with things like "greenify" or "hibernation"?.
The answer to that is "NO". Short and simple, you'll make the situation much worse if you attempt to hibernate apps. This is because the os will call for the app under its "normal allowances" which are defined by "permissions", you may have noticed these on some of the googleplay "read more" page when browsing an app. There are also permissions that you cannot see, one example would be "startup" which allows the app to start when the phone boots up. You CAN stop these startup apps at boot but if they continue to run you're best leaving that app alone. The reason being is that the OS will call the app, the app WILL respond. Then whatever app you're using to "control" other apps will detect the call and intervene, attempting to shut the process amd services down, the OS will detect this as a fail to load so it'll invoke (call) the process and service again, the "control" app steps in, rinse and repeat. Without knowing you've just waged a war in your phone between 2 apps and the OS. This will murder the resources and battery power.
So, after 2 years of normal operation your phone has become slow. You now know that the problem is that the phone is outdated because it is struggling to provide for the resource hungry apps that are out there (this is about as "in common" with windows as it gets).
Custom roms will be a waste of time. The reason is that custom roms are open source code, are very rarely optimised and not really compatible with the proprietary hardware they have to control. Although you can unlock extra potential it will be countered by the poorly written code. The custom rom will bog down in half the time of an official firmware.
I'm afraid I'll have to be the first to admit that your phone has now surpassed its life cycle. The only way to get better performance at this stage is to upgrade to a more powerful device. Not exactly the news you WANT to hear but it is the most honest advice you will find in this thread.
A LOT of people don't quite understand how android works as an operating system but they'll be quick to give you advice that is only partly true or not true at all.
The odin problem. Kies can be installed but the processes must NOT be running. Stop the kies processes in task manager.
As audit13 said, the output window in odin, we need to see that so we can determine whats wrong. We also need you to make sure you know what model s3 you have and that you have the correct firmware for your phone. Double check them in the settings menu.
Beamed in by telepathy.

Google pay is there on b10 if nfc is turned on. and there are 2 launchers in mifavor, one like miui and the standard one. I translated the screenshot and the security patch should be more recent, and they removed the email app. also the performance and bug fixes that nobody knows what it means.
Anyone can make a flashable TWRP version of this?
Probably restricted by geographical area. As I'm in Australia, despite being on Nougat B10 I doubt I will see the update. Likely need a zip in SD as usual.
Anyone in the area serviced by Germany will probably see it as B10 came from there in the first place.

Open market A2017G update doesn't matter which country, same file. It's open market after all
Downloading.
its no oreo build,right?
1.2.0 is Nougat.
Got my B12 update for my Axon 7 A2017G
Just updated, via download (nothing showing on OTA in UK) my ZTE Axon 7 ie A2017G from B10 (security to Jan 18) to B12 (which shows security to Jul 18)
The link here didnt work as it timed out but going to the top of the ztedevices English support forum
ie cutting off the URL after support and then following the idea of Poland.... Smart phones... Axon 7 (Open market)
that offered two SD Card Upgrade files
ie the required update.zip software inside a zip which was itself inside a download zip
and a PDF instruction the important points being 3 ie (1) phone charged up (2) backup your a/c data [though shouldnt lose anything] (3) put the update.zip in the root directory of the phone's storage where it'll be accessible/recognised via the Axon 7's System menu for System Update
As well as "B12" rather than B10 noticed a few changes:
- during the update there are some new privacy opt-ins for ZTE Locker and Privacy policy
- the Android security patch level advances to 1 July 2018 (was Jan in B10)
- finally cleared up my previous experience of a cosmetic 'bug' that used to display at the end of startup process part of a SIM APN dialog (ie on a dual UK SIMs with o2 as one of them) - no sign whatsoever anymore
Note that during the second automatic reboot the phone will stay on the AXON multicoloured display for a VERY long time - ie more like 5 minutes than the usual 5 seconds - don't get impatient, just let Android/ZTE do there thing updating invisibly behind that AXON display.
re timings:
The download was a SLOW process getting the 2.8GB and then unzipping a couple of times.
The update process itself (once transferred the update.zip to phone which took c10mins of USB2) was over in around 10 minutes!

So Accuweather was there since MM i think, but now in a more fresh, updated Version, with the Option to show the actual Tempreture in the left navbar. Thanks for the tip with these touchpal****. I removed it directly, was never a fan of it

How to uninstall One UI 3.1 (Android 11) Update?

I recently updated to One UI 3.1 and it's performing much worse than it was on Android 10, especially with one of my games constantly crashing when trying to enter the main menu.
I want to know if there's a way to revert the update somehow... so that at least I can get things keep running for the time being until GSIs can be made working.
EDIT: Okay... I finally managed to log back in to the game in question after about 100 tries over the past hour... what an effort... it's getting more and more difficult to login lately...
EDIT 2: Guess I'm asking for the impossible... and as for the game in question, I suspect it was a known Unity-related issue caused by permission changes introduced in Android 11. I'm considering rooting the device to test if that's the case as I cannot just grant the permission since the app itself didn't declare it in the manifest. But in overall, it doesn't change the fact that the tablet is performing much worse on Android 11 than it was on Android 10.
EDIT 3: It seems even with root I cannot grant a permission an app didn't request... so I really can't test if the permission in question is indeed the cause of the crashes...
EDIT 4: Downgrading is no longer possible since build BUC1. Samsung has incremented SW REV on this build so you can no longer downgrade once you upgraded past this version.

Most apps should work fine on Android 11, but some may have issues and need updates.
Downgrading to Android 10 is technically possible. Download the Android 10 firmware and flash it with Odin on a PC via USB cable to your device.
But I would prefer running on the newest firmware version and trying to get an update of the app. And there will be updated if Android 11, too ... which optimizations of stability, performance, etc.

Thanks, but it's not really that relevant now as the crashing issue was finally fixed by the developer.
However, on Android 11 things are indeed performing worse than on Android 10. Frame rates are much lower, and touch issues (erratic or sudden delay/loss of touches) become more frequent. Ironically, when I used GPUWatch (from Developer Options) to diagnose the sluggish frame rates, I found that neither CPU nor GPU was maxing out while playing.
Now that I've rooted, I'm considering looking for some alternatives as the stock ROM is indeed terrible regardless (a good example would be that it's tough to take logcats here, as the system itself spams logs at an incredible rate I've never seen before). However, I'm yet to get a GSI to boot.
