I'm thinking about buying this huawei mediapad, I wonder if you who have it still are happy with it, or would you buy some other model today?

Yes to both question.
Still happy with it. It got the best resolution for 7" when it came out and only to be matched by nexus 7. The extra resolution really helped compared to those 1024x600 tablets.
Right now I probably would wait a bit for the new tablets. I really like nexus 7 and the price is really cheap for the specs, but there are features missing from it, which are:
-relatively small storage and having no option to add storage (no msd slot) and no USB otg storage support (which probably attainable using custom rom)
-wifi only
-no video out
-no back camera
The biggest let down is no msd support, because right now I only have 6Gb empty on my mediapad if I erase all my movies... And I'm using 32Gb msd! Imagine that Nexus 7 only have around 12Gb of usable storage...
Of course the upside of having official Google device is reliable software updates and lots of community behind it.
I think and hope that in the near future, we could buy a 7" tablet that have all the features and up to date specs with current Mediapad price. Those that already have mediapad shouldn't worried to much that their device is outdated, because it isn't... New games run beautifully on Mediapad and with 1280x800 on 7" becoming a standard would help it in terms of apps compatibility.
The biggest problem on mediapad is its touch screen, which is a bit twitchy. You'll get used to it but it probably would put off people that just want their device to work out of the box like other devices from well known company.
I really still like my Springboard (especially since it's running Mediapad's ICS. The Nexus 7 is tempting but lack of sd card expansion makes it not as attractive. Not that I store a lot on my tablet, but I still like having the option of expanding.

Yeah, I have been looking on reviews and specs on nexus 7, but lack of memory slot and no 3g is a no no for me also. I think I'll buy the mediapad and be happy with it, till something else turns up that is a yes yes...

If you have a android handset that can tether without any carrier interference, i'd say go with the Nexus7. October/November is right around the corner so by then the Mediapad will be two OSs back which is a real pain for us Mediapad users since we don't even have a 4.1 rom and likely no more support from Huawei in the foreseeable future. They'll be more 7" android tablets to come into the market with expandable memory and 3G/LTE support sooner rather than later. Spend a little now on the N7, then spend whatever in the future (Asus non Nexus tablet?), rather than spend more now, and possibly more then.
Yes. I'm still happy with it and know no better tablet in the 7 inch form factor. Even the nexus can't compare (in my own opinion).
I just got one for a really good price. Cheaper than the nexus 7 8gb.
Not sure if I should keep it or send it back... how many cheap tablets do you really need? Considering the samsung 7.7...

If you don't mind paying a lot more and don't mind the extra 0.7" size, then go for it. I really like Tab 7.7, but at the time I bought my Mediapad, it cost twice as much.
Nexus is more like a Entertaiment device, use it best at home and on the go only with Tethering
MediaPad is your always&everywhere online solution, but has some battery runtime disadvantages
I just jumped onboard the Mediapad train over the weekend, it was clearanced here in NZ and was considerably more tempting at half price. I'd long wanted a 7" 3G tablet with phone functionality as the ultimate convergence device. While this is unfortunately not it, due to limitations with Android/the hardware, it's still a very solid piece of work. As mentioned above, the specs are unmatched by anything else in this form factor - the 3G, SD slot, close to stock ICS, and metal casing sold me. Battery life is a bit hit or miss at present, but I (and the friends who encouraged me to jump on one) certainly came along at the right time, as development seems to be taking off.
Still happy but I would be happier if we get Jelly Bean!

Nothing that can't be solved with an ebay charging cable and power bank. It actually even charges via the micro usb port but the only downside is the software does not recognize it as being charged. However it does charge, and using the Battery Monitor Widget, it gets up to 700ma charging current or more depending on your charger (1A, 2A).
Makes me wonder if the Vcc and Gnd terminals of the micro usb can be jumpered to the + and - terminals of the charging connector with a diode to constrain current flow in one direction. Mine's still under warranty though
I'm seriously thinking in selling my prime to get a Nexus 7. So far I know that for 250 bucks you get:
No rear camera
No Hepatic feedback
No Micro SD Card Slot
A smaller device
Possibility of connect a Keyboard Dock.
I think I would be totally ok with that except maybe for the rear camera (I think that its more useful in a 7 inch device than in a 10')
So now my question for everyone who switched from the Prime to N7 is, are you missing something from the prime? something from the above list maybe?

I wouldn't ever trade my prime for a n7 I guess I prefer the larger screen. Just install jb and it run pretty damn nice. Of course it imho

Really? even the know I/O issues are fixed with the JB preview builds?
I have both. which both of them working great also. when I'm using the nexus 7 I don't miss those things you mentioned. but I would never ever ever sell my prime just to buy a nexus 7. mines perform too well for that. nexus 7 is a great experience out the box. but my nexus 7 doesn't have the power like my prime has with its custom rom & kernel. prime is too versatile with the keyboard dock and everything else.
they compliment each other very well. I plan on keeping both. prime stays indoors. nexus 7 used indoors or outdoors. I would recommend getting a Nexus 7 asap as its an amazing 7in. tablet. I'm sticking with both of them.
they really can't even be compared to each other. compare it to other 7in. or 7.7in. on the market. then you will see the nexus 7 is hands down the best out there. Quite a few major tech sites are toting the nexus 7 as the best Android tablet released so far, period.
I have both too, and they are different , with different use cases. The n7 is far more portable but way less versatile. I was planning on choosing between them, but will probably keep both.

Anyway I'm happy with my prime but the Nexus experience that I have with my Gnex is what makes me want to test the N7.

I have both and I haven't used my prime since Wednesday when I received my n7. Haptic feedback is pointless. Never took a picture with my prime. My prime is unlocked and rooted with every tweak and mod out there and it doesn't perform anywhere near ad well as the n7. The only thing better about the prime is the screen it only for the purpose of Netflix.

I had both the prime and the n7 both are great devices but due to the size difference you can't really compare the two. I sold the nexus today as I prefer my galaxy tab 7.7 the Samsung has a better screen and even though they are close in size the 7.7 seems quite a but bigger and did I mention it has a much better screen !
I wouldn't be able to live with a N7. It's a cool piece of hardware, and a great deal, but it's basically a toy. The prime doesn't really compare to most tablets because it's still the only tablet on the market that can replace a laptop, so it appeals to a different group of people (me included) then other tablets do. It's got a big screen, expandable storage in both the tablet and the dock, best battery life for any tablet, and the keyboard is great for school work. So no, as cool as a nexus 7 is, I don't want to spend 250$ on something that is only good for watching 16GB worth of movies or casual gaming.
I had both. I just returned the nexus 7 as it was too small and too fat. I love how slim the prime is but jelly bean was awesome (although the phablet mode wasn't).
So the answer for me was the prime but I knew I wanted jb so I finally unlocked and installed team eos JB rom and I couldn't be happier. Lag is gone, and the device is just awesome again. Go prime.
I have both and they are different use cases. The Nexus 7 is pointing out how clunky some of the software issues I am having with the Prime are though. The Nexus works how I would like my Prime to (no crashes of Google apps like Gmail, no force closes, being able to charge it past 62% etc.). Because of the glitches with the Prime software implementation I am finding myself using the Nexus 7 a lot more but if they could be resolved the Prime would be my go to productivity tablet.

I think you left out one thing you give up with the N7 - and it's a big one, at least for me. That is the keyboard dock. If you don't have and/or don't want the dock then it won't matter to you. But for me, the dock is one of the main reasons for selecting the Prime in the first place. I absolutely cannot do any decent typing on any on-screen keyboard no matter how good it is. They just don't work for me personally. Add to that the ability to connect USB devices; I use memory sticks, an external track ball and a usb wired ethernet adapter - sometimes all at the same time connected through a usb 2.0 hub. In addition to the 32 GB micro-sd card in the prime itself, I have an additional 64 GB SDXC card in the dock - so it has as much storage as my laptop's SSD (though in three different places and the 64 GB only when in the dock).
For remote administration tasks, I've got VPN and a remote desktop client. That allows me to remote into Windows servers and have the keyboard and mouse that make all the difference when using it that way.
As far as all the issues people are reporting - I just have not seen them. Perhaps it's because I have a later production unit (C3 serial number)? Or perhaps because I got mine just as the .28 update came out and did a complete wipe and clean install of .28 - without ever having used whatever version was already on there from the factory (I didn't even look). So mine has not been though the multiple update on top of update process like the older ones have. I have also never really used the built in browser - which seems to be the source of a lot of the complaints. I went directly to Chrome and keep Dolphin around for times when the need for Flash arises.
I also don't quite understand all the people who seem to be constantly switching devices. To paraphrase "..I had a prime, then an N7 and now I'm going with a Samsung...". Constantly buying and selling devices has got to be an incredibly expensive proposition with a significant loss of $$ ever time you sell.
Based on all of the above, here is my recommendation - given that the guts of the two are basically the same and the Prime will soon be updated to 4.1 - making the software much the same too: If you prefer a 7 " screen over 10.1 and don't need or want the dock, go with the N7. If you prefer the 10.1 inch screen and want the dock and already have a prime - then keep it. If you want a 10.1 inch screen and don't currently have anything, wait for the TF700.

I am glad to hear that because I have both also and N7 make the prime feel like a laggy piece of crap.

That's my case, too - I got my C3-serial Prime shortly after .28 came out, so I upgraded first thing, before installing anything. I, too, have not had major systemic problems. I get some ANRs in the stock browser, but I generally know which websites cause that and avoid them. And like you, the dock is a major factor about the Prime; frankly, I cannot recall the last time I took it out of the dock, except to show people that it can be done.
So I guess I can afford to be patient and wait for Jellybean...

I think I will keep the Prime for while, unless I can get a good deal selling it which I don't think will happen. I'm starting to see a subset of problems that have been reported for prime now in the N7 forum, Problems such as poor WiFi, ANR's, random reboots, etc, Except for some ANR's in the prime never had other issue and my unit is one of the first, so I think i was a lucky one without problems and take risk with an ASUS device again.. not sure I want to be there.
I don't have the dock, not really something that I think I need you, but is a good point, in fact I will edit the OP.
and for unlocking the Prime, the only reason why I have not do that yet is because is an irreversible process and I though that if for some reason I have to sell the prime that could be a decisions factor for a potential customer, but know I think will just do it and test the JB builds.
I use the rear camera way more than I expected to. And both the uSD and dock are must haves, so the N7 doesn't have much draw for me. My prime is unlocked and running a custom rom so it is fast and stable to boot. JB will just make it even better I'm sure but honestly I could wait quite a while for JB since I'm pretty satisfied.
I also got both, and there is no comparing them really. An analogous OP would be something like:
"For those that already switched to the Toyota Prius from the Toyota Sequoia, do you miss something?"
Since everyone has different use scenarios, I suppose this totally hinges on what you did with your prime. Personally, I have a hard time with the no hdmi/mhl thing. I really like to be able to hook up whatever tablet I have for some quick computing on a larger screen or just for a quick movie. A close second in features that I miss when I only have the nexus is the rear cam... never realized how nice the cam on the back of the prime was.
I have both, and I agree that the dock is a huge plus both in battery life and use. However the software is "snappy" on the N7 so I am looking forward to JB on the prime. I really do not think I could pick one, but if I had to for someone else I would say it depends on what you use it for.
Will also go for both. Hopefully my N7 will arrive this week. In my opinion 10inch are more for the table while 7 is more comfortable for relaxing, games and outside usage.
I own both the Nexus 7 and the TFP. To be honest, I use the Nexus 7 more; the 7" format does a better job of serving my particular use case -- reading long-form text, versus content generation or extensive multimedia (movies). From my thoughts on another thread:
So basically I think it comes down more to the form factor (7" device) than the device itself. I think a 7" device is best for reading books, saved websites (ReadItLater/Pocket, Instapaper), and content aggregators (Currents, Flipboard) -- basically text. It's small, super light, and convenient to throw in my bag, whereas I think twice before bringing my 10" Transformer Prime around. The 10" screen is best for actual website surfing, movies, photos, and content generation (drawing, word processing, etc.).
That said, the Nexus 7 is the best 7" device you can get today. It's very light and easy to hold one-handed, and though it's not razor thin, it's a competent thickness. The build quality is very good -- feels solid and the material on the back feels very high quality (fake leather ish). The screen is nice and sharp (especially from 2' feet away, normal reading distance) with good off-angle viewing, though I wish the maximum brightness was higher. Finally, the Jelly Bean version of Android OS is quite competent -- movement, swipes and touch responses are fast and responsive (though unoptimized apps may still stutter, but that's not Google's problem). In fact, the Nexus 7 is much faster and smoother (and less glitchy) than my ASUS Transformer Prime. It's a nice device.

I currently have a nexus 7. I bought it on Tuesday, and I'm loving it so far.
I also pre-ordered one through Google Play the day after I/O and just received that one yesterday.
My question is, should I return them both and just get the TF700T instead? Has anyone had any experience in either devices? I love the little form factor of the Nexus, but seeing as I am in college, the TF700T + dock would seem to make more sense. Does the 10.1" form factor really make that big of a difference on portability? What about weight?
I own an old HP touchpad, but it has a cracked screen + needs to be restored to factory defaults (issues with that, SD mount problems after updating CM9) and I'll probably sell the thing.
What do you guys reccomend? I use my tablet for web browsing, gaming, catching up on tech news and an occasional youtube video/netflix movie. In college I could use it instead of my laptop for most work that doesn't involve programming or running any cisco software (unless I use remote desktop or something)
I also use a Galaxy Nexus for a still pretty large mobile web experience, should I get the TF700T? Also, I couldn't find it anywhere else but tigerdirect or amazon with a markup.

That's hard to answer really. In my opinion, there's a huge difference between the 7 inch and 10 inch tablets. The 10 inch is about twice the size of your nexus 7. Yes, it weighs more too. I use my prime as my primary device, but I don't do any programming. You have to really think about what you're going to use it for. The 7 is perfect for reading and web browsing (most sights), but the 10 is more like a small laptop.
I would not trade my prime for a nexus 7, but the smaller screen doesn't fit what I want. I think a 10 inch device can be your primary, but I don't think the 7 could.
i would take the tf700t over the nexus 7 and it will be updated to jelly bean soon.
My consideration is you need 2 hands to operate nexus 7 anyway, so why don't use a bigger screen instead ... so i'm sticking with my prime.

I'm sorry but I did not see a dedicated forum for the TF700T. So where was I supposed to put it, the Nexus 7 forums? Almost everyone there would have said to get the Nexus 7 based on price alone. I feel like the owners of the TF700T would have a better judgement on the subject, having spent a good amount of cash on their tablet.

technically I have 3 N7's. I have the 2 I have for myself, and I told my mom to get one. So I could use hers when she's not using it if I want to be able to have a 7 inch tablet. But there's no way I am going to keep 2 N7's and a TF700T in my house, kind of a waste of money for someone like me (part time retail salesman and full time college kid).
I think I might just return the N7's and get the TF700T. Where should I order it from?

Well it's been a very long time (30 years) since I was a "college kid", but I would have thought that the TF700 with the keyboard dock would be a lot more versatile than the N7. And, though the N7 is more portable - carrying around a TF700 + dock won't be difficult. I currently carry around my TF201 and dock in a case and it's still roughly only 3 pounds.
I'd get rid of N7 and take TF700. Actually I bought TF700 already 7 inches and lack of microSD is a deal killer.

I'd take one TF700 over two N7's any day.
N7 is just a downsized version of the 300 sans mem expansion whereas the 700 is a step above it. No comparison there.
How is this thread allowed here? Just the other day an N7 thread discussing all of the defects and problems w/ the N7 was removed since it wasn't related to the Prime, but this one is okay? If anything, at least yesterday's thread compared the N7's defects w/ the Prime's defects. This thread literally has nothing to do with the Prime.
Anyway, to answer your question, I'd have to say neither, unless you feel like dealing with a company that practices poor design and has zero quality control:

However, if you insist on one of these two devices, I'd go with the N7. The hardware may be falling apart (i.e., read about the display defects in the threads above), but at least the software is rock solid since it's done by Google and not Asus.

no. on rl sqlite benchmark I scored 33 secs. overall on I/O performance(I posted the screenshot in another thread). that put my nexus 7 at the top of the list. other nexus 7 owners have scored similar also. prime issue is likely software/driver wise still.

I own the Transformer Prime, and just purchased a Nexus 7 for my daughter (11 years old)
If I/O performance refers to how long it takes to transfer data between my PC and the tablet, I'd say they both perform pretty much the same.
I've copied movies to both devices, and it does take a few minutes. However, they're between 700MB and 1.2GB in size, so I'm not that surprised or bothered about the slow transfer.
Haven't done any scientific tests, but based on general use, I don't find transferring data/files to the Nexus7 noticeably faster then when I transfer to my Transformer Prime (and I usually use AirDroid, so I transfer wirelessly, which I'm sure is slower then via cable)
Nexus7 is a fantastic device, and my daughter loves it! I wasn't willing to spend $500 for her, and I also felt the smaller size was a better fit.
She does lose a front camera, and microSD slot. She still has a camera for Skype, which she uses a lot, and the tablet has a beautiful display, and is buttery smooth!
It's an amazing device for the price! (not letting my Prime go, however)

I based what I said off of benchmark scoring(from me n others in nexus 7 forum) and playstore downloads and installs. The apps download & install on nexus 7 alot faster than on prime. Plus the lag is nowhere to be seen on nexus 7 during the download/install of apps/games, unlike the prime. I can have all that going on in background of nexus 7 while doing other things and nothing will freeze up or lag.
Speed transfer from prime or nexus to a pc will be nerfed from it using MTP mode. If mounted as a USB mass storage device, like how it was on older android builds, those transfer speeds would be alot faster.(from what I've heard and read up here in xda)
I cant let my prime go either. But MY nexus 7 has definitely been stealing attention away from my prime. I used my prime earlier but had to put it up and take my nexus 7 off the charger. I'm really liking this 7in. Form factor. Far more portable and easier/lighter to hold. Not too small either(Im 6'5 with big hands so typing on Nexus 7 with thumb keyboard is seamless).
Ditch em now and get one again later
If either are a 16 GB Nexus 7, sell them on eBay and get more than retail for them (or at least equal to retail, assuming they are in pristine condition).
Take money and buy TF700 with dock.
When fervor for Nexus 7 comes down, go buy another one to fill your 7" tablet needs. You may or may not want to get one after you have a TF700. I have the TF201 and I'm trying to tell myself why I don't need a 7" tablet. I think I just want to **** with Jelly Bean. Hell I still might just up and buy an 8 GB just for the hell of it and gift it to my dad when the newness wears off.

this. I already decided I'm going to get the TF700T. And I've put them on both Ebay and craigslist, no bites so far but hopefully someone buys them. If not I'll just return them within my 2 week time frame.
I'm going to try the TF700T. I read ALL about Asus's quality control issues, and if I can deal with the I/O issues, I'll keep the TF700T. if not, I'll return it and get a galaxy note 10.1 when they come out
Anyone else keeping tabs on the Nexus 7 forums? Asus' crappy quality control is killing many of their users too. There are multiple people who have done multiple exchanges and keep getting units with separated glass (the primary issue), lines of dead pixels, unresponsive touch screens, and blown speakers. I predict this is the last Nexus device we'll see made by Asus. Persistent perfection! Ha.

At this point in time I really have no use for a device like this, considering that I already have a Nexus 7. When I do buy a tablet it will most likely be a Windows 8 Pro laptop/tablet hybrid. Something that I can get work done on when I need to work, and consume media on when I want to consume media. It is an attractive option though.

I agree! I have a nexus 7 Rocking AOKP rom and am happy, I use it for college and on the go work, So the downfall with the nexus is its sometimes cramped keyboard

Been waiting on this since I returned my TF700 (and the Prime before that). IMO the only missing thing is a microSD port, but I can live with that.
I'm going to wait a little bit, make sure Samsung are releasing proper sources for the Exynos, and that CyanogenMod will work on it.

Absolutely. After spending some time with a loaner N7 a few months ago, the N10 is exactly what I've been holding out for.
My enthusiasm is almost Apple-esque.

I was excited to see the specs or the Nexus 10, but the price for me is hard to justify. I know the 300ppi screen would be beautiful, but I would only really use that for movies and I am usually watching movies on my pc anyway. I have a tf201 right now and I only use it for movies and reading(which is a bear sometimes). Personally I think I will pick up a new nexus 7 32gb model. Just my opinion.
on the fence. On the one hand the specs are great. On the other, I think they totally missed the mark on design on both the tablet and the official cover. I am no apple fan boy at all, and constantly belittle many of their practices. Their hardware design is king though, in the tiny details. This cover with the back attachment looking bit is not clean looking, and the slightly rounded off sides to the tablet are a bad choice :imo:
The nexus 7 on the other hand is a beautiful design. Will have to play with both side by side and see which is for me. hdmi out is nice too...

Yes it would have been nice but they say adding in an SD card slot would have jacked up the price :/

yeah i figured... but dam 100$ for another 16GB is a bit high but what can we do...its a company just try to make money like us... i mean now days you can but a micro sd 32GB for like under 20$..
i wonder how much they would of increase the price if it did have a sd card reader ...
still new to android pure google but have they made them with sd cards before or goolge likes to roll like iphone/ipad/ipod with no sd slots ?

Is this tablet worth the asking price? I currently returned my Nvidia Shield Tablet because the quality felt a little meh, and the screen kept showing distortion by pushing it.
Any thoughts and suggestions?
I would really like to stick to Android and this seems to be the closest to the quality of the Air 2.

not worth it for most people imho. lotsa problems if you check all the existing threads. somehow the majority in the threads, including me, are only getting 5-7 hours or screen time web browsing when the pro reviews show ~9hrs (videos are fine - 10hrs+), memory leaks needing daily reboots (which could be fixed by a patch), light bleed, removal of the ability to adjust the volumes without going into settings (you can only adjust the volume of what's being used at the time you press the volume button - ringer, alerts, media aren't expandable).
i still love mine for now, but i'd never tell anyone to buy one until google patches the software problems. the hardware is decent but far from premium. i'd say at $250 it's a good deal, $300 is fair, but at $400 there are other options.
i got it because i just got my hands on a old galaxy tab 8.9. i used to have one when they first came out and i loved the size. i have a note 8, but kinda not digging the size any more. i considered the 8.4, but the nexus at 8.9 - 4:3 is as tall as the 8.4 @ 16:10 and as wide as a 10.1 @ 16:10. for me it makes for better browsing and reading. some people prefer not having black bars in movies, but the size of the image will be the same on an 8.4 16:10 as it is on the 4:3 nexus.
also, the speakers are nice. i haven't had a tablet with sound this good since my archos 101t.

I have the 32gb Nexus 9. I bought an open box 16gb first but I donated that to my daughter and got the 32gb. Having said that I have noticed no build quality issues with either one of them. It looks good and feels very solid. I have owned many different devices and the Nexus 9 is built better than most. In order for me to use a 16gb device it has to have a microsd card slot.

I wish it was around 300$ for the 16 GB and 400 for the 32 and I'd totally be ok with that...but at 529.99 I might just get a video card at this point .
I really like the design of the nexus 9 and the look is very beautiful though! I'm sure most software problems will be patched but I expected lollipop to be a smoother transition.
I am in Toronto got the 32gig version, never regretted it.

I, too, wish the Nexus 9 was cheaper. Heck, I wish most things in life are cheaper.
With that said, I had my Nexus 9 16GB since almost day 1 (day 3 to be exact) and have been loving it. Unlike some people who have complained on the forum, I am fortunately among the Nexus 9 owners who never had a single problem.
You may be able to get a laptop at around $600 but it would be a crappy one and it would still be a laptop and not a tablet, which have very different functions. Some of the cons of a laptop being heavier, harder to just pick up and use, lack of touch screen... etc. If you DO for some reason want an "actual computer" for work, then no tablet is ideal for you.
I got the 16 GB also. Instead of forking over extra cash for additional 16 GB space I put the money towards a WiFi HD. All I need now is cifs support.
I'm thinking of Getting the 16 GB model, then using an OTG cable and putting a usb stick when ever i need to watch movies.
I'll just put minor TV Shows or Movies on the tablet that I watch on subway (although I watch mostly on my phone on subway).
Everyone bought the 16 GB version though LOL, I need to find one

Get one of these microSD card readers:

It is very small so it will not get in the way as bad as a OTG cable and usb drive.

You will need something like ESfile Explorer to see the device when you use it on your Nexus but it works perfectly.

That's no problem, to watch movies I usually use ES anyways since it also has root access.
i know with archos media player you can index just about any non-root folder, even networked shares (paid version, dunno about the free) and other media players shouldn't have any problems directly accessing a mounted drive.
i considered using my otg cables but i didn't want to lose the ability to charge and use an external drive if it ever came down to it. helluva lot cheaper thought, lol.
I was lucky enough to find an open box Nexus 9 32GB so I saved give or take about 75$. So I ended up paying 25$ extra or so for an extra 16 GB. Will open it when i get home.

dunno where you got it from, but amazon has the 32 for 429 and bb will price match. I got my 16gb for 350 plus tax new.

As you can see from my profile pic I'm from Canada, and Best Buy will only price match with the Canadian Amazon. Either way I came out about the same with the open box, the only downside is that it was opened but looking it over it's literally brand new.
Don't rule out Swappa. I bought a brand new, sealed 16GB Black Nexus 9 for $330 shipped/no tax, and went on online chat with Google Play Store to transfer ownership of the serial number to me.
Hope you enjoy it. I've made the decision to keep mine and let go of the note 8. Gonna miss using the s pen when taking recipe note while cooking. Lecture notes and a standard capacitive pen will make do until thet make a 9" note. I don't regret my purchase and like the 4:3 more than I thought I would.
I ended up returning it because it had a lot of screen bleed. I'm just going to wait and see what happens when the nvidia x1 comes out.
