Ok, so at 1am I plugged my phone it ... I verified the other end was connected to the wall (it was glowing blue) ... so I go to sleep thinking "it'll be fully charged when I wake up, oh boy oh boy!"
I wake up, and check my phone - it's warm as if it's been charging. But there's only 10% battery life left ... I was like "WHAT THE HECK?!"
This never happened to me with the Treo 650, 700wx / p, Pro, or HTC P3050, P4000, P3540 ... so is it just this battery, or just this phone?
I COULD take the phone in, but I don't want to because I'll get a refurb unit - even though I just spent $700 on this one this month - so I don't want to do that. Ideas folks?
P.S. I'm using stock Telus 6.1 ROM
Same here man, and it freezes when its done charging, or the charging light [the ring light] keeps going on even when its 100%? any help would be greatful ;(
also keyboard keeps freezing lol..
Since I hadn't had a response from anyone here, I went to Telus wh ile I was in the mall ... they say it's probably a charger issue, and not a phone / battery issue ... They will exchange, free of charge, my battery OR charger, but if I want to swap a unit, it'll be a refurb ... I told them "I just spent $700 on this phone, I WILL NOT take a refurb."
Ah well I'll take the charger tomorrow.
The world is out to get my TP!
eh? I went to sprint and they said i should leave the phone and they can check whats wrong with it.. but i cant if its OEM, and since its OEM we all cant have the same problem? sorry i researched and everyone says different things. Some say to much flashing to you got a defective devise or you need to update your radio or something something i duno i quit!
I posted a similar issue (have a sprint touchpro) about the activesync just dropping or the phone just disconnecting from the computer while charging on the USB charging cable, they claim "we've never heard of this issue". I wonder if this isn't exactly like the Mogul that had bad pins in the USB port that would disconnect that device while connected.
So far, haven't been able to find a satisfactory answer.
I had the same issue
When I received my first TP in February, I experienced this 3 times. I took it back into Sprint and they sent me a new in-the-box replacement. I kept all the accessories and just sent back the mobile itself (as I was instructed). Consequently, I've been using the OLD charger (never unwrapped the new one) for almost 4 months without experiencing the same issue. So, I'd have to say it was the handset. Also, once I noticed the charger cable fell out of the phone very easily after experiencing the heating-but-not-charging issue, so perhaps it has something to do with the fit of the male/female mini-usb.
Hi xda forum users...
I have a X10i, and then 2 weeks ago i bought a X10 mini pro for my wife...
She have not used it for that mutch, only a little talk and a few sms messages...
It was not rooted, and have not been under any hard hardware use...
The last few days the battery was really bad, in the morning it said 100% charged, but after only 6 hours it went dead...
Then today, the phone went dead after again 5 or 6 hours, but now it cant charge anymore, and the phone is dead...
Not even a little light or the vibrator shows/feels if you try to turn it on...
I have offcource tried my charger also, and tried my phone on her charger, to see if it perhaps was her charger that was dead, but no...
So my question is:
Have you heard of any other with the same problems, or have we perhaps just been that unlucky to get a faulty phone ??
Had mine for 2.5 weeks now. Battery lasts for ~1.5 days, everything works fine. Even dropped it by accident twice and there don't seem to be any issues.
Since you haven't messed with it it would be easy to get a replacement.
Mine hasn't had any issues but my mate also bought one and just like yours it had a sucky battery and refused to charge after 4 days.
He went to the store and they immediately replaced it, the storekeeper suspected there was some fault in the wiring.
Hello,
I have a new SGS2 two weeks old. a few days ago my phone rebooted itself and reorganised all my apps, the next days it rebooted itself another 5-6 times. yesterday it just turned off and I needed to restart it. meanwhile I bought an additional original battery and an original samsung cradle charger on ebay
today my original battery was on 5% so I switched to the new one and put my old one in the cradle charger, when I finished the new battery and tried to use the old one that is suppose to be charged the phone is not responding with it and not charging it. My ROM is the original I havent changed anything.
Q1 anything about the rebooting problem, what can cause it? how to fix?
Q2 can the cradle charger ruine my battery?
I have a problem with my three year old Samsung S2 (international version), running Android 2.3.
The phone sometimes does not charge at all when I connect the charging cable, at other times I have to turn off the phone before it will charge, and most of the time it will not swtich off when I try to power it down (it simply reboots). Basically, the charging is sporadic and unreliable.
Does anyone have any idea what causes this behaviour?
I have tried two batteries and two charging cables and these make no difference to the problem.
Thanks in anticipation.
Thats interesting. I have alot of problems with charging my S2 as well. Ive shipped it off to samsung twice, they replaced the bad hub/port or whatever the call it, have gone through 4 micro usb cables and i have another battery in the mail headed my way as we speak. A month later and its still doing exactly what you describe. I can barely charge mine anymore. Its only a year old but its No longer reliable. I cant seem to fix the problem so Im giving up on mine and getting myself a nexus 4.

Hi XDA,
My Galaxy S3 stopped charging properly a couple of days ago. In a matter of hours it froze and charged a bit slower, then it wouldn't charge anymore. When the phone is off and I plug in the charger, the animation starts for about 1 - 2 seconds, and then the screen goes black. If it's on, nothing happens when i plug the charger in and out.
I've owned the phone for a year, and I rooted about 3 weeks ago, and installed CM10.1 (Nightly). It worked fine until this problem.
I've troubleshooted a bit on my own, and what I've found out is that, it can't be the battery that's the problem, because I've tried three different ones, and the problem stays the same. It can't be the USB port on the phone, since I can get it to work in Download mode (ODIN mode). I've also tried CM9 and flashing back to stock android. I've also tried charging it from the wall and the computer, and used different cables. Nothing has done any better.
I'm guessing it's software related, I just can't figure out how to fix it.
Thanks in advance,
Zhibbhi
the charging port of the phone might be faulty.

By charging port I would suggest the charging circuit inside the phone is faulty, as it sounds like you've eliminated all the other possibilities. Return the phone to fully stock for warranty repair.
So even if I can access the phone through ODIN, the charging circuit can be faulty?
I just thought it was a strange coincident that it went faulty a just a couple of weeks after I installed CM10.1

Odin has nothing to do with the charging circuit .
Solutions .
One the battery try another
Two the charger try another >> charge phone from PC usb .
Three the cable try another
Four the USB port on the phone >>> clean
Five the onboard charging circuit >>> needs a service centre .
Six and highly unlikely a firmware problem wipe phone flash stock rom .

Ok, thanks a ton guys! I'm going to set the phone back to stock, and send it in for warranty repair as I've tried everything else.

In the future, avoid using S3's stock charging cable. I changed mine to one I bought off eBay and had no probs since then. I had several frequent problems like slow charging/no charging etc.

Best avoid using the phone to charge the battery at all, that way you don't stress the phone components with wake lock and heat. Buy a £6 desk charger and spare battery, replacing these is much cheaper than the phone motherboard.
Solved
I have an S3 and lately it has taken longer to charge and it was charging to less percentage. I tried 2 different chargers and 3 different cables with the same outcome. I was thinking about one of the threads I had read and they mentioned going to the cell store and it charged for them. I've read about it being the charge circuit on the main board and various other problems and solutions that didn't work. I went to Staples today and purchased a SCOSCHE reVOLT line h1 2.1 amp quick charge and in less than an hour I charged from 63% to the 100% I haven't seen in quite a while. The Samsung OEM charger it seems (as well as the other one I tried) had lost some of it's get up and go. It is working fine now and with this charger it doesn't take long at all to reach full charge. I've put a lot of time into customizing this phone after root and would have been VERY disappointed if I had to start over with a new one. I'd be willing to bet at least 90% of the charging problems people are posting about are caused by the charger deteriorating over time.
