Carrier specific files which are safe to remove - Samsung Galaxy Alpha

Where are the carrier specific files stored on the Alpha? The apps are stored in /system/app but there are other files as well, such as boot/shutdown animations. Where are all these carrier specific files stored?

[Q] CWM script on /data/data folder

Do you guys know of any problems that I may encounter if I use a CWM script to change some settings that are stored in the /data/data folder? I have created a script that copies over some XML files to the shared_prefs folders belonging to the jkay and system settings apps. Do these programs store an MD5 hash of these files like many of the games do?

How can I make ICS create new ".odex" files?

Hello
I modded a few apks which also have .odex files. If I delete the .odex files the apk isn't shown in the app section. But of course those .odex files are old and belonged to the original app.
Is it possible to force ICS to create new .odex files? It doesn't seem to do so on boot.
I simply sent the new apks via bluetooh to my phone and then copied them to where they came from (/system/app).
Anybody have any idea how I can make ICS build new .odex files based on my new apks?
Any help would be much appreciated

Unwanted Ringtones solved

In my rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab I put my own preferred ringtone into the system/media/audio/ringtones folder and rebooted and it was selectable in the list which was good albeit a long search throught the list of junk.
Then I thought why can't I delete all the rubbish ringtones in that folder which I would never want, so I just deleted about 27 ringtones but not the numbered tones. Then when I go to settings-sound, notifications ringtone, call ringtone and Feedback settings are all buggered (as in greyed out). Rebooting didn't fix it so I had to reboot into recovery and reinstall system from Overcome_7_Series_v4.1.0_NoWipe.zip and everything was back to normal.
One question remains, what if I delete the unwanted ringtones from the Overcome_7_Series_v4.1.0_NoWipe.zip and try again. Surely there is nothing in the system that would need these useless files. I had to prepare the zip file on the PC and use WIFI File Explorer to get it into the SdCard (my preferred ringtone included).
Reinstalled from recovery with the modified zip and BINGO; it worked.
Now I wonder if I can do the same with the numbered .ogg files as most of them are also useless. I'm sure it will work and it would be nice to just have two or three real ringtones in the selection list.
I suppose I'm making a big job of it but I have not discovered a simpler way to delete these unwanted files. There is an app called RingDroid but it is for unrooted phones and doesn't address the real problem which is the buggy system that prevents us from simplifying the system for personal use.

How to change folder of a system app...

I made some stupid things to my smartphone and now I am close of solving them...
My question is...Does anybody know how I can change the name of a folder from /system/priv-app/ so my device still considers the app as installed?
The app that I'm talking about is Google Services Framework and my device says it's installed but he says the app takes 8,00KB instead of 3,28MB(the size of the apk as told by Apps2SD)
Also Apps2SD seems to identify where is the app located after the folder name change but my system doesn't...
I change the file's name from "com.google.android.gsf-1" to "GoogleServicesFramework" so that the .odex file can work...
So anybody knows how should I set the permissions and owners of the folders and files so that the system finds where the .apk and .odex are located?

How to stop the automatic creation of ".nomedia" file in a specific folder ?

How to stop the automatic creation of ".nomedia" file in a specific folder ?
Can you please let me know the steps to stop the creation of ".nomedia "file in a specific folder( Ex : Abcd album) so that i am able to the pictures of it in the gallery.Every now and then it gets created and i had to delete it manually. I am using Whatsremoved App which stores the deleted files and statuses from WhatsApp in a folder but in the folder .nomedia files gets created, thus that folder did not come in the gallery and gets hidden, no matter how many times i delete that file it keeps coming.
Also, i had used this same app on my old Moto G4 Plus and i did not face the same issue on that phone.
