[Q] Random lock sounds - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I got a problem with my s3... My phone is making random unlocking and locking sound (one after an other) while it's not using... Any solutions to fix this?

Try wiping cache and dalvic, if you are rooted, otherwise factory reset.

[Q] Newbie Qeustions

Thanks in advance for taking the time to awnser my few "newbie qeustions!"
before i start, everything on my phone is stock and not rooted.
my first qeustion is, is there any difference, when i use factory reset in the options menu, rather then the one in the stock recovery?..
my second qeustion is, does this wipe dalvik cache?... whenever i see people talking on forums, they are saying to clear dalvik cache or delete it, but does the stock recovery / phone (i never did anything with my phone) wipe it aswell? when factory resetting from the options menu.
p.s Sorry for my bad english.
Factory reset is the same and wipes all Including Dalvik .
But is only relevant when flashing custom roms via rooted phones .
jje
1/no there is no difference
2/i dont think that samsung recovery wipes dalvik cache
thankyou for awnsering, however, when i use the factory reset in the phone's options, the default video and song you get for samsung to showoff is there...
but whenever i factory reset trough the recovery it's not there.....
anyone else noticed this, and does this mean both are different?.. or...
bump

Dont bump you posts..
Both solve the same purpose..the song and video you are talking about is in the /system/media folder and hence will always be there...
Also, what factory reset does is..it wipes all your data including internal sdcard..

Now, i'm wondering, why when i reset in the phone, in the options menu, it shows the default video / song you get with the galaxy s3, the nature video and such... while when i do a factory reset trough the recovery itself, that video/song isnt there...
does this mean they are different factory resets?...
Nobody noticed this?..

I don't know why but boot to recovery, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache and see if it helps.

[Q] Sotmax v19 - Contacts FC

Hi
I've been using sotmax since v16 and since upgrading to v19 whenever I try to open a contact through the contacts app it freezes then force closes.
Has anyone come across this or know how to fix this?
Thanks
Do the standard clear cache and dalvik, if that doesn't help then full wipe and reflash might fix it.
Only ever upgrade when the ROM chef says it's okay, otherwise full wipe.

I only ever do a full wipe before flashing. I've wiped and re-flashed this rom 5 times now and always get the same issue
Probably a bug in the rom then, ask the chef to check for it.

Problem "com.android.phone" on 4.4.4 firmware

hy everybody, since i updated my Z2 to 4.4.4 with the guide for "create pre-rooted-firmware" of Norty, i have a problem: when i receive a call and don't take it, the process "com.android.phone" stop to work.
i trying to clean cahe and dalvik cache but the problem still here..!
please guys, what can i do to solve this problem...????
best regards
The final solution: wipe all. At first I didn't wipe data, too, and I couldn't save or import Contacts. I tried to wipe cache and dalvik, which seemed useless. Finally I wiped data. Problem solved.

Believe me this is what you can do at last, and usually it works.
after doing a full wipe and reinstalled all my system, the bug has come back..! i don't know why; but there is certainly a thing to do... please anyone know anything about this..?
EDIT: PROBLEM DEFINITELY SOLVED, NEVER FREEZE THE "XPERIA HOME LAUNCHER"...

Not able to wipe cache

I have a stock phone. On the latest update. For some reason when I complete a wipe cache in recovery mode and select reboot phone says error right before it starts up. Would I need to factory reset? Was hoping I could wipe cache so I could see if it would fix some problems Ive been experiencing.
What's the error you see come up?
Just says error right before it reboots on the android logo in the background.
For some reason my phone keeps randomly rebooting. I'm gonna hit up tmobile on my day off.

Does it say error after wiping cache? If not, then the cache wipe is probably successful. I'm not sure what the error would be if it throws it up when you say to reboot. But I doubt it has anything to do with wiping cache.

But how do I know that it did wipe the cache? Don't really notice much of a difference.

You won't notice much of a difference. It's normally only noticeable when it fixes some questionable behavior. If you clear cache and the questionable behavior is still there, it normally means there is another problem.
