Hi all!
Just got a Gear S and i must say i am loving it.
Thing is, my main phone is an iPhone 6 and i am too tied into the Apple ecosystem to change that now.
I have two SIM cards with the same number and i intend to use one of them on my iPhone and the other one on the Gear S.
The usage scenario for the watch is the standalone.
However, i need to have an easy way to install apps and setup the remote connection, so i am thinking of buying a cheap (as cheap as it can get) compatible Samsung phone.
My best guess is the Galaxy S3 mini would do, but i am not sure.
Can someone please confirm this or suggest another 100% compatible (but also dead cheap) phone i can use with my Gear S?
Thank you very much in advance!
im also using iphone as my main phone. what i did was, i pair with my friend's phone for startup and update and downloading and then take him out to lunch.
it is much more cheaper.
Thank you @stkpxl! @kois86 this is a great idea!!
However, each time you sync with your fired you also get his addressbook and call list, which should not be very convenient, right?

Hello there!
I'm trying to make my S3 interact with my Pioneer Avic-F700BT. It's an older HU (2009), and does not support BT streaming. It appears unable to read the S3 via USB due to lack of UMS on the S3. It worked flawlessly on my iPhone 4, but that doesn't matter at this point.
Right now, I'm investigating the use of the Infuse 4G mount + line out into the deck, but I'm looking to see if anyone is aware of any alternatives. I have not rooted the phone yet out of fear and inexperience.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to control the phone from the HU, but it's not a must. Another alternative is to just go and buy an ipod touch and leave it in my car, but it's a much more expensive option.
Truthfully, I have the i747 (Canada), but I couldn't find a different subforum for it, so I hope that I'll be accepted and loved here.
Thanks!
Hey all,
I'm getting myself a tablet instead of a smartphone as in my opinion they are the jack of all trades and the master of none.
So what I'm looking for is a basic phone that has great battery life as well as the ability to tether the internet to my tablet, anyone have any experience that may help?
My Tablet of choice is the Asus Memo pad 10
Thanks,
Fenlig

I've bought to my mom a Galaxy W, but at the same price you can now find the Galaxy Ace 2 (here about 170 Euro). You can then root them, improving the battery life. Wifi tethering works without root, just download a good app from the Play store.
get a galaxy ace...decent cheap phone which supports tethering
Have you considered bluetooth tethering? It's supported by non-smartphones (basic Nokia S40 models and others) meaning your phone battery will last far, far longer if that's your main concern. Android devices can definitely connect through others via bluetooth for tethering, you would just need to test non-smartphone handsets for compatibility.
I've got my head spinning trying to sort out what's possible (if it's possible even) and what's required to provide a more useful experience in using Mirrorlink between an S4 and a PioneerAVH-X3600BHS.
I have a VZW S4 running Jelly "Beans" V7 (lightened TW). I am hoping to purchase the PioneerAVH-X3600BHS. I'd ideally like to do a full mirror of my GS4 onto the Pioneer HU - I'd like to use the native turn-by-turn nav, Pandora, SiriusXM app, potentially Torque.
My questions (to start anyway) are:
1) It looks like I need an adapter - the Pioneer CD-ML100. Is that correct?
2) I see the S3 listed - am I safe to assume the S4 would work as well?
3) What software is the best to use? Is the Drivelink Full the best app? Seems that ARLiberator isn't appropriate for this product (used for the appradios?).
4) If it seems that this HU isn't the well suited for this, is there a comparable one I should look at that would be easier and/or cheaper?

I'm looking at the same radio for my Note 3 as well. I should have it next week. I believe, in addition to the CD-ML100, you still need the 5pin to 11pin adapter as well?
http://www.amazon.com/Original-Sams...35843&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+5+pin+to+11+pin
I'm not completely sure. I ordered the 5pin to 11pin. I'm figuring out where I want to order the ML100 from.
Any luck with the AVH-X3600?
Well I ordered the avhx 4600bt and I've been going crazy because it does not have an HDMi in put lime the 8500 series I'm waiting for it to come in any day now I will keep you posted on how it's doing'":,';..?? As for as I know I've been reading that the mirror link is to expensive and does not support the note 3 and I'm pissed because that's the phone and my daily driver. .

Testing CD-ML100
I have the AVH-X3600BHS that i purchased on a pre-order before it's release. I must say i love the radio and all of it's features. I have been using the interface for the iphone on my ipod and it works. I stream music and use the bt phone features up until now. I actually just ordered the CD-ML100 MirrorLink adaptor today on Newegg and should have it in about a week (opted for the free 5-7 days shipping). I have a rooted and stock VZW GS4 running 4.4.2 and i will be testing this as soon as it comes in. For those with a Note 3, best i can do is test my wife's Note 2 on it when it comes in and my brother's Note 3 to let you know if either of them work. I will post my results in a week or so once i have the adaptor connected and have tried it
I have finally gotten around to trying this with the VZW GS4 stock/rooted rom and the CD-ML100. I began hooking up the cd-ml100 last night. I temporarily wired the power and ground for it and connected it to the AVH-X3600BHS. When the truck and radio are turned on the phone charges through the cd-ml but i can not get it to broadcast to the head units screen. I am going to attempt to contact Pioneer customer service since there is pretty much nothing to be found online and find out if i overlooked something or if i have to do something not stated or pointed out in the installation instructions. If i make any progress i will let the forum know. As of right now it am not able to get the mirroring to work.
Your results would be greatly appreciated acid if you can report back with your findings. A call to crutchfield revealed that mirrorlink is a aging and discontinued interface...,a bummer since the idea is IMO awesome
First off, apologies if this is not in the correct forum, I'm not sure if this is device specific or not...
I have 2 phones. An AT&T Galaxy S5 and a Samsung ATIV S Neo running Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview. The one feature I absolutely love about the Neo is the ability to read and respond to SMS over bluetooth in the 3 vehicles I own... they are:
2014 Chevrolet Impala LT with MyLink (no Nav)
2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS (with Mylink and Nav)
2012 Chevrolet Traverse (no MyLink or Nav)
On what I am guessing is the MAP part of Bluetooth, my Windows Phone works with each vehicle flawlessly to receive and respond to SMS. I can't say the same for my S5 (which by the way, is rooted, running SafeStrap, and running Alliance ROM so that I can have Car Mode, which AT&T saw fit to remove out of their version). I can only get the S5 to work correctly with the Traverse, which also happens to be the oldest vehicle. I have yet to find a 3rd party app that might be able to get around this.
It is beyond frustrating that a 2014 device such as the S5 does not work with vehicles that are relatively new in this regard. Is this true of all 2014 devices? I wish there was an easy way to find out. Most car manufacturers and even aftermarket ones don't even list any 2014 devices as being compatible with them... I know it might sound like nitpicking, but a phone (the Neo) that was released almost a full year ago works fine across all my vehicles... am I missing something here?
And yes, the new thing with Android and vehicle integration is all well and good, but probably won't be able to see that in action for what.. another year at least?
UPDATE: I have since moved on from the S5 and have tried an HTC One M8, and a LG G3, both with similar issues. I have found an app called Robin that kind of worked on the G3, and another called SMS, My Car and Me (SMS+Car) that sort of works on the M8. The M8's own car mode works best but far from perfect. Voice recognition is not good, and has an issue quite similar to responding to sms and emails on Android Wear devices. It gives you absolutely no time to pause before sending, but in the case of the M8, the window to respond is way too short.
Thoughts? Opinions? Advice?
So no one has a clue.. Am I asking this on the right forum? Am I phrasing the question wrong or something? Why can't anyone answer or offer any insight on this? A little help here please?
I’ve just purchased a used Tab S7+ ; it’s been many years since I last tried an Android Tablet so thought I’d give it another go.
Anyway, anyone using the Tab S7+ and Signal Messenger? I know I can sideload the Signal APK but from my understanding, there’s no way to “link” Signal running on the Tab to my phone # on my Android phone? I do this on my Mac and iPad Pro, and I think it’s the one thing that will drive me a bit nuts on the Tab S7+…
I specifically bought a 5G version so I know I can link a separate phone # to the Tab as a workaround but that will result in two chats for the person messaging me (I guess I could create a group with both my devices with each person, meh).
Any further thoughts?
