Yes it is perfectly safe just be careful while flashing I tried to flash bluedriod kitkat edition and my gts5839i wont boot past first boot up screen

I don't know about pre rooted firmware. I rooted mine using Impactor which I assume is quite safe.

Download pre-rooted firmware. It will root ur phone and also if u softbrick ur phone u can fix it by flashing it via odin.

There is three way to root your star, by flashing prerooted firmware, by cydia impactor & by cwm method...easiest way to root by cwm method bcz u dont hv to download heavy files...
you people are talking about safe unsafe...all r safe methods only u need to follow correct method...

If bootloop:
Flash stock ROM (assuming that download mode is accessible.)
If not,
Download a ROM onto your SD-Card and flash it through recovery. (Assuming u have a SD-Card and rooted)

ur device is mtk and its development are also very less.. so i don't think cwm or custom rom will be available.

ive found a cwm for it but its on htcmania.com and you have to do a few things to get it compatible and i dont have a pc

I have found th clockworkmod for it could anyone with this device install it through the files provided then rip out the boot image so anyone with this device could flash it through the android app mtktool
