So with the new Touchwiz Update, why would someone need or want to root their SGT10.1? Before my only big reason was for screen shots and some apps that offer shutdown option softbuttons. But with Touchwiz you get a screen shot function. What functions would you want that would require rooting?

easy, I want the bar at the bottom to be black again and the settings panel (wi-fi toggle, airplane mode toggle to be blue not green) to name a few.
i think installing LBE Privacy Guard is an excellent reason to root.
Does that app keep apps from trolling your data and selling it? I've used lookout before. It works pretty well but who knows if its working. Lol

LBE actually monitors your data and presents you with an alert every time an app tries to access it. The alert allows you to approve or deny the access. That way if a video player app randomly starts trying to access your contacts you a) know about it and b) can deny it.
I haven't rooted my GT yet but I've used LBE on a Transformer when I had it. It was great because i could deny apps accessing my data when they had no reason to do so. If I root, LBE and AdFree would be the two of the main reasons for doing so.
Adfree and Titanium Backup are my main reasons.
I have not looked at the steps in a while. But seems like my biggest obstacle is I have nothing but Mac OS so I cant use most of the tethered and app centric methods. Wish there was an app in the market to help you root without being tethered. That would be worth some bucks! Lol

Hello everyone,
Here is my problem.
My background music (ttpod ) frequently get killed when I open browser or anything other thing, even when I am typing this right now got killed again.
I tried dozens ROM as stock, omega, android revolution...etc, all happens same thing.
I also tried Jkay and Xpose framework to whitelist it, but still...
Anything idea?

Hey dude,
Jump on to the Xposed modules site and download the one called AppSettings_0.4.apk located here
Set this in Xposed to make it function. Open the app. Then go back to Xposed Privacy if you have it and enable this settings app to have full control. Then go back to the AppSettings apk and this should then allow you to search and should display all of your apks. This is your permissions controlller app now (not necessarily security like Xprivacy but more so the gateway for your Xposed framework. Think of it like a new toll road that has just been opened, it will allow a better route for traffic to flow to its destination, but there at the moment the toll booth is un-manned and the gates are shut so no one can use the toll road until you put a man in the booth to control the boomgates
Find Jkay app and check allow for all of its functions and bam everything working 100%
Really once you get used to this, this framework can allow for Jkay + more. Jkay should be porting his app to Xposed modules rather than trying to update every freakin framework release there is, especially considering that most of the functionality doesn't change between releases all that much. With Xposed he should publish for the top level of functionality and people who don't have a framework that is equiped with that functionality just won't get it, none of their apps will force close, nothing will screw up if they flash the incorrect version etc.
But....thinking about it, my feeling is that Jkay is more about the money than anything? If he was to do this he wouldn't make any money off people buying his app so I guess that will never work for him.

thanks anyway , i have ready solve this problem :good:
No problems man. I usually come back and answer my own questions on the forum so that when others search that they can know answers too. So I will leave my post up.
It wasn't just me was it? The information required to solve the problem WAS NOT easily located in the sea of information within the framework thread?
hi,
it might be cool if there will be a built in virus scanner that protects the whole system(browsing and data) so we don't have to download one from the app store every time. i use cm security now so maybe some inspiring....just a suggestion because security is very important
You don't need a virus scanner

No. That is bloat. We will not take $$ away from our fellow developers that rely on ads to support their apps...

Only people who are incompetent need antivirus on android. Unless you grant any and every apk su than it won't affect your device in a harmful way....much like if you allow an apk to have special permissions don't complain that you lose your sensitive data.

I didn't have antivirus on my Windows PC, and it turned out to be fine!
Don't use unknown third party markets and please read the permissions before installing anything

there is no V4A for huawei no 64 bit driver available only JamesDSP
Rooting for me for adaway ,modify the sound, titanuim backup, edit the dpi , remove bloatware
full control for me
Ad blocking is achievable without root. For me, it's a few tweaks here and there like setting dpi and other stuff that is more about little annoyances than major issues.
Edit: so today I finally got around to rooting this thing. I have rooted, installed magisk, and installed xposed. I am really glad I did. Here is what I like so far:
Adaway - because of ads (can also disable ads without root though)
Vanced YouTube (doesn't require root, but worth mentioning)
Persistent dpi change... Smallest width stays at 451 after reboot
Smali Patcher - magisk module to disable flag_secure so I can screenshot anything
I'll add more when I remember it.
I was rooting every phone in the past because it was easy. Huawei is much more complicated and I didn't want to risk and brick the new phone. Now, after four months with Mate 10, I don't miss root, TWRP and custom ROMs because everything works fine out of the box.
Bloatware apps are uninstalled or disabled, depending on app.
I have ads in only one app for home workout, other 50 apps I use are free of ads.
I use Firefox with uBlock Origin add-on and Youtube Vanced, so no ads here too.
Stock Backup app works fine including auto-backup and I don't need Titanium Backup anymore.
Call recording works fine with Call Recorder - ACR app (even on Android 9 Pie) and I don't need the call recording TWRP patch.
That's all.

what do you do for v4a replacement without root?? because..... this is 32 bit 384kHz audio hardware and i think its potential is huge .... but without root.... its not worth it..
Sorry, I don't listen music on the phone.

respect
Rooting for me :
Full control, using Tasker or Macrodroid - control wifi, radio, cellular, screen, battery charging, etc. so many
Adaway - can use DNS66 for unrooted phones
Full Backups using Titanium or Migrate, moving files - Google backup is not so bad these days though
Nandroid Backups - oh yeah, no fear of disasters
Kernel control - Kernel Adiutor, Ex Kernel Manager, LSpeed, etc.
Apps2SD Pro
I don't use custom roms on my work phones, only on phones for fooling around
Anyway, Huawei Mate 10 not too bad at its unrooted stock with some additional apps like Macrodroid, Gesture Control, Nova Launcher, Greenify, Solid Explorer, Smart Touch Pro.
On this phone, it's a good one that I don't miss the root stuff enough (except for Nandroid backups) to pay Funky Huawei to unlock the bootloader. For their price, I can just add a bit more to get a good Xiaomi phone, and can root at will.
Hi guys,
I got my S22+ few days back. My previous device was rooted OnePlus 5.
I was planning to root S22+ too, but then I seen that there is some kind of e-fuse in the device to mark is as Warranty void.
This causes device to be permanently marked as unlocked, Knox will be disabled and Samsung Pay + some other features will stop working forever.
Is this true even if I want only Magisk systemless root? I was using Google Pay on my OnePlus 5 what was also rooted by Magisk.
Samsung Pay looks promising to me, because I moved to Samsung ecosystem also with buying new Samsung watches and I would like to use it at 100% potential.
What would you recommend me? Root or leave as is? I personally need the root just to be able to remove bloatware, restore apps with data, disable ads in some games and have ability to use e.g CLI (Web server and things like this, occosionaly)
PS: Google Pay, banking apps etc. will still work even with Knox disabled, or not? They were working on the OnePlus 5

If you want your device to function as if it's stock, then leave it stock. If you're willing to compromise some features for the sake of having root, then root away. "Pay to play" is essentially the bottom line of all modifications, whether software or hardware. Losing the ability to use some features is always a risk when you modify a device, including root.

I just do not understand why Knox and Samsung Pay gets disabled forever... Thats kinda Apple style of doing stuff seems to me...
Is there any other way of restoring backups with data without root btw? I see that Helium and oandbackup are deprecated

Ah. Well, Android has always incorporated application segregation, where any one app cannot access data belonging to another app, with the exception of common storage (such as photos/media) or certain system information (location, call history, messages, etc). Therefore, it's not possible for an application such as Swift to backup app data without root.
Whether or not rooting your device will trip Knox is another question entirely, one that I unfortunately do not have the answer to; I haven't been active in the Samsung scene for quite some time. I would assume that it does, given how it's worked in the past.
Edit: I'd like to point out that it may be possible to pass SafetyNet after rooting by using Magisk modules such as Universal SafetyNet Fix and MagiskHide Props Config, but there are no guarantees. This may also only work for applications that depend on CTS and basic integrity, so while GPay may work, Samsung Pay may not.
I had my previous S8+ rooted and that caused knox to be tripped (0x1) and recently my company decided to start using Intune from Microsoft to separate work and personal data but Intune kept complaining about the fact that my device was no longer 'official'. I never found a way to bypass that (even though Google Pay and my banking app was working with Magisk). I ended up buyiung a new phone (S22+) and decided to not root anymore or use custom roms.
There was an ongoing Github to attempt to root S22 without tripping Knox, they were able to get SE Linux permissive but that's pretty much it for now. They said that Samsung security (DEFEX) is blocking them from gaining root but maybe at some point someone will succeed in breaking that security. That being said it only works on march patch and if you've updated to may patch or above it's undoable at all because you can't even downgrade

Could this same method work on s22, i assume it woukd require mymod.ko be built in s22 kernel source but can it work
