Whatsapp: Read msgs without going online? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
is this somehow possible to read received messages without going online?
Maybe a third-party app could just read out the messages from the preview in the status bar?
I dont want to have my last-seen status updated, neither do I want to completely disable it...
Thanks

[Q] Swipe to Clear Notification Counts as READ Message

Hey guys!
As you can see my first post here although I frequently come to xda to fix any problems I have or to browse roms, I love this website! This is the first time that I couldnt find a thread relating to what I am looking for (I hopeI havnt missed it).
At the moment I am using CM 7.1 on my Desire HD.
I was wondering if it is possible that when I swipe to clear a notification (in particular messages, I used GO SMS for text messages and Whatsapp) that it counts as a 'read' message. At the moment it just removes it from the notification bar although the message is still unread.
I hope I made clear what I am trying to get across.
Any help would be grateful. Is what I am looking for even possible?
Thanks!!
I too would like to know the answer to this. I hate having to go into the message application for it to actuallyregister as being read.

[Q]Is there anyway to extend all notification?

I.E, if I receive a single whatsapp notification, I can see the content of the message from the notification bar without having to start the app, but if I receive multiple messages I can only see the amount of messages received and not their content.
I want to be able to extend notifications so that if I receive multiple messages I could read them all without having to start the app.
Is there any rom / tweak or anything that has this feature?
Sorry if this has been answered before, I couldn't find any related topic on xda/google.
Thanks in Advance,
doshpin.

Extended notification is an API which Google introduced in Android version 4.1..many applications have not yet included this api in their app and hence most of the 3rd party apps don't make use of this feature..
It is solely in the hands of the developer to include this feature..I don't think a hack will make it happen..

Question How to read WhatsApp group chat without showing it as 'red'?

In a WhatsApp group chat, is there anyway to read messages in a group chat without having the sender get the read receipt? How can I read messages in a group chat without showing the sender I have red their message?
As a partial solution, you can see the most recent one from the the notification bar. Viewing it there doesn't mark it as read.
If you turn Read receipts (settings/privacy) off, people will not see that you have read messages, but you will also not see when they read yours. It (seeing the blue checks) only works when both/all parties have it enabled.
So if you have it on, but I don't, then neither of us will see read receipts in our conversation.

Yes of course there're some ways you can do this, but remember without launch the app:
One is add a WhatsApp widget to your homescreen and stretch it to the maximum. You'll see all what is happening in your WhatsApp without launching it, unless you choose to do so. This way is limited, as too long messages are not shown fully.
Another option is to use third party apps like "notification widget" app which shows you everything there. Likewise if you use "good lock" and it's modules, there's "notistar" in it. This module allows you to see and even copy messages in WhatsApp while on your Lockscreen, I mean without unlocking the phone or launching the app. This is amazing! I like it.
NOTE: All these will show you text and sticker previews from the WhatsApp . I haven't found any app or option that shows images or videos in this way. Should anyone know it, please share.

Is there a way to set the "notification widget" app to only show WhatsApp messages?
