Tripod holder/mount for nexus 6? - Nexus 6 Accessories

I compared my nexus 6 to my HD camcorder from quiet a few years back. They are very close in quality. Having a 64gb device, I figured it might be easier to record with my nexus 6 for birthday parties etc for basic events, but I'd need a tripod mount. The ones on eBay aren't big enough it seems.
Any ideas?
I found one guy who has cool ones that have a handle that turns into a mini stand but the plates aren't compatible to this phone.
Thanks

I use the iStabilizer flex with a cheap mount from ebay http://www.ebay.ca/itm/New-Universa...2910?pt=US_Mounts_Holders&hash=item27f62bb07e
I originally purchased that mount for the oneplus one, it works with the nexus 6 it fits snug though. if you do buy it double check the dimensions of your phone + case and the description of the bracket

Ok, thanks. I seen some of those but they appeared too small for the width of the n6. I found this guys, which I really like the setup to hold it easily for events such as a birthday party, but he doesnt have a compatible one for the N6. Each has a different camera cutout too. The hand held grip looks convenient.

Maybe they will make one eventually.
I did find this one that lists the nexus 6, but I cant tell if the adapter comes off so I could put it on a tripod stands adapter.

In case it helps, I can personally confirm that the phone clamps found on cheapie selfie sticks on Amazon fit the Nexus 6 just fine even with a slim case on it.
My wife picked up this selfie stick over the holidays, and the clamp worked fine on my Nexus 6.
I even picked up a few replacement holders of the same type (probably from the same factory) and have used them for magnetic mount purposes around the house.
The reason I mention it is that the holders all appear to have a standard sized monopod/tripod threaded mount point. I don't have a ton of experience with tripods and such so forgive me if there are wildly variable thread sizes, but the clamps I posted all fit like a glove on the one tripod that my wife picked up years ago.
Anyhow, hopefully this will help your search!

To clamp the phone in place while the mount itself is threaded into place on a monopod/tripod.

That looks pretty nice.. and portable, but I wonder how stable it is with only a vertical support in the middle of the back. What about typing toward the sides, will it be stable?
My wife actually bought a picture frame holder for$2.99 and surprisingly it works great!

I had gotten one of these...It works, but not great. It is made for a netbook, so when it sits in there it is very low. On mine the only way it was useable was to balance it on the swivel point.
I ended up getting the BookGem (Also available from amazon) and I love it. I actually have two of them!

Just in Michael's I think. It's nothing special to behold. Just a typical picture frame holder. It looks something like this: http://www.salinepictureframe.com/showroom/products/8in-ebony-wooden-stand/
They have those at Walmart for $3.50 or so I believe. Do a quick search on this forum on my username for a picture of the one I got at Michaels for $3.99 (actually $2.00 with the 50% off coupon!) the other day. I like it because it is completely adjustable, which is important in light of the comments regarding viewing angle in portrait.

I bought a BookGem from amazon.com. I love it. It clamps (spring loaded) onto my gtab so that it is securely attached and moves when I move the gtab around. It can be clamped on the top as well but that doesn't work as well because the gtab border is narrower there and so it is actually clamping onto the screen a little bit which interferes with tapping, i.e., the gtab only supports two finger presses at a time and it thinks the clamps are finger presses.
It has rubber pads on its feet and on its clamps.
I also like that it folds up flat so it fits in my carry-all for convenient transport.
Anyway I like it so much I bought a second one for my other gtab.

Oh I am glad to know about this. I am using mine as desktop replacement too, and I went ahead and got a USB keyboard since I will mainly be using the keyboard when I have the tablet on my desk and plugged in. I figure I will get one of those things that lets you plug a bunch of stuff into one USB and then I can use my old mouse which is still good.
I am also using a "cheap" rubberized wire book holder that I found 2 for $5 or something like that at amazon. I think the postage cost more than the holder but it works GREAT and I can still fold it up if I needed to put it in the tablet's carrying case or something.
My Microsoft wireless does not work, I am thinking about the HP BT keyboard.
Here is my g-tab on a $3 stand.

Highly recommend this!

Thanks S2W for the review. I have a question for you. I also have the bookgem but don't know if mine is defective. When opened the gem sits on the front spring rather then the the two front feet. It seems like there should be a rubber pad on these (to stop it from sliding and holding the gem above the spring hub). Does yours sit this way?

Your welcome... The spring hub is aligned with the 2 front feet of my stand. I did notice that when I closed the rear legs, the spring hub is no longer aligned. Standing the bookgem this way will give you a bit of that teeter-totter action since its meant to stand on an angle. But don't care for it as much in this position since it becomes no longer use as a stand but closed to put away.
Overall, I like the stand. Hopefully you're within your timescale and can return it back if defective. IMO, Its kind of useless to me, if you dont have the front feet stabled and aligned because of the spring hub dropping lower.
We have to trust that our Gtabs are secured. So if your unsure I would return it.
Glad you you caught the video.
Book Gem
I've had my book gem over the weekend and had to make one mod.
just above the book gem sticker there were are two pyramid looking stubs.
I took an excacto knife (a box cutter knife should work as well) to reduce the stubs and filed the remain flat.
Other then that I love my Gtab Gem. With the legs in, it's easier to hold with one hand, imo.

Thank you for your excellent YouTube review. I'm now enjoying the leather case that arrived today. An excellent fit, no problems with port access or power/volume buttons. Definitely adds class to the G-Tab experience. I highly recommend it!
Stand and Case Together
Great videos!
I really like both the case and the stand, but would like to use them together. Is it possible to use the gtab with the stand while it is still in the case? Maybe you could do another video review of both together
Anyone know of a Kindle DX case that folds over into a stand in landscape mode? The only ones I have seen the stand is in portrait mode.
Thanks!
I must thank you. I was going back and forth between getting the Kindle DX case and the Zec case. I was on the fence about the Kindle case, but your video review totally solidified my decision. Got mine in today, and I couldn't be happier.
Thanks, man!
Saw your review of the Kindle case on YouTube. It was instrumental in my decision to order it for every day use. Thank you for taking the time to put it up there.
I had ordered and received one of those cases with the built-in usb keyboard before I made this decision as the keyboard is not silicone and will damage my screen if I decided to use it every day. The other case also didn't really keep my tablet secure at all and I felt it would slip out of it at any given moment.
I stopped carrying my powerhouse laptop with me when I travel on business (with the power adapter it weighs about 20 lbs). Now I just carry my G Tablet and use LogMeIn Ignition for Android to remote in to my laptop I keep at my office. I kept the other case so I can use it when I travel on business and need to type a lot. But I am really looking forward to receiving this Kindle DX cover so I can use it every day.

In the video, it looks like the wings come in contact with the touchscreen itself when placed in portrait. In light of how strong those springs look, I wouldn't want them in contact with the touchscreen at all. Perhaps this case is more for landscape only?

After reading this post I tried to place the gtab on portrait and carefully examine what you stated above... with mines it doesnt touch the screen, I will say that the paddings are close by the border of the touch screen but does not effect it. I can only speak for myself on this.
Hope that helps.

I'm with the gentleman above. I would love to purchase this one but can it adequately be used as a landscape stand? That's really the make or break decision for me. I currently use the cheap carrying case from Sears to hold it so I may opt for the Bookgem or another case.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered one yesterday. They haven't shipped it out yet so I could cancel but I think for $20, I'll take the risk. They do have great return policies.
I know the one with the keyboard is comparable priced but after putting aaron's back cover on mine, I don't really want to stick velcro on the back of it to keep it in place.
I guess I just should have opted for the Book gem and continued to use the Sears carrying case.

I was just coming on to post this because it seems as if this company is selling a different case now. My case doesn't have the same sheen on the outside, nor do I have the larger pockets on the inside like the one in the video. Never the less, it seems to hold the tablet the same, so I'm fine with it. Best option I've seen for the price I paid. ( $18.50 with free shipping.) I should add that I'm fine with the smaller inside pockets, as they don't push on the screen like the one in the video, but I do wish I had the outer cover as it does look like a better quality than the case I have.

Low-profile horizontal dash mounts?

I'm in the market for a low-profile horizontal mount for my i717 Note, but I'm not having much luck finding one.
The reason I need a low-profile mount is because I drive a Jeep Wrangler that has a very high dashboard. I purchased the Exomount seen HERE, and it holds the Note just fine; however, it stands up way too high and therefore blocks too much of my windshield.
The two low-profile options I'm considering (so far) are:
1. ME-USDM: i.Trek Universal Dashboard Mount
CONCERN: The clamp may not open up wide enough to hold the Note? (The description and comments indicate that it may only work with screens up to 5" -- such as the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0)
2. Roadster Smartphone Sticky Pad Dash Mount
CONCERN: The right and left vertical sides may block a small portion of the screen since the Note's screen is much wider than the iPhone screen in the pictures.
Does anyone have any experience with low-profile mounts like these? Better yet, does anyone have a recommendation for something even better?
Or maybe someone with a Jeep has found an even better idea?
Thanks ahead of time!

Can you study the pictures in that second Ebay listing and tell me if you think the clamp that actually holds the phone is adjustable? The pictures that show the clamp empty make it look like they're at a fixed width -- I think -- which may mean the Note wouldn't fit tight... I really can't tell.
What do you think? I guess I can also email them and ask.

Well I did a little more digging and your right that one wouldn't work for you at its full opening and full closing it wouldn't work with the over size beast that we carry LOL but the one that is made for the larger tablet looks like it would. The Note is about 153mm tall no case and this closes to 150mm so if you have a case it will be even tighter.

I've been using this in my Honda as I hate blocking my view with the windshield mounts. http://www.amazon.com/Bracketron-PH...PPYC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330493893&sr=8-1 just clips on you're air vent.

This is what I've been using for the past four years (I'm on my third one). The mount is somewhat cheaply made. The first one was broken and left behind by somedouche that broke into my car. The second one I had broke the gears on the inside that lock/unlock the device in place after about a year and a half.. so they're not the sturdiest things ever made. But I still bought another one because the placement is perfect for me in my WRX (and they're not that expensive).
It might bounce a little, but honestly, my car probably rides rougher than your Jeep since it's lowered with aftermarket struts set on the next to stiffest setting. I don't really have any issues with the device moving/bouncing around.
I can take some pics if you want..

Bottom of the windshield, has just enough reach to get the phone over the front of center stack. Phone ends up maybe 1/3 in front of the vent, 2/3 above the dash.

over2land is actually talking about modifying a "Slipgrip," while the video is of the "SlimGrip"... and I definitely like the looks of the one in the video!
I think I'm going to grab that one and see if it works as well as it does in the video.
Wish me luck!
Edit: Just ordered the SlimGrip SM578 from here:

Standard size Car Holder for Note 3

Can anyone tell me a good cell phone holder that doesn't mount phone in front of vents and doesn't put holes in the interior. I like the cup holder versions okay. The only one I find says standard size. I did find some good brackets but I'd have to take the dash apart a plus Id like it to be portable anyway.
Any ideas would be great. Thanks for any advice.

I checked it out...doesn't it create any problem on sharp turns and moves....??? and what about this product quality...as it would be getting fit on the cigerate lighter slot...it looks quite flexi one...doubt over its quality...can u post the pics that how you have placed it in your car...???
If you have a thin case like a spigen hybrid case the stock Samsung car cradle fits just fine. You just fit in it. No case it fits with ease. With a thin case its a snug fit but it fits. Couldn't do like an otterbox it anything in it though.

No not at all, on the actual cigarette holder there's a adjustable knob that tightens it. Only weird thing is it doesn't charge on the 2 amp setting but charges very well on 1amp. Maybe it's mislabeled? Or maybe my cable.

I've been using ExoGear ExoMount car mounts for years. I have tent original version in black, and the new second version in white. They work great and allow you to use almost any device in them, as the mount is adjustable. The Note 3 in a bulky case fits without a problem, as will smaller devices. The are available in black or white.
Recently I just got my TechMatte 1 touch car mount on the mail. It is awesome and you only need one hand to get your phone locked in to it! My Note 3 with a TPU case fits in this mount great, but with a larger case it wouldn't. I like that the TechMatte mount has a small button behind where the phone sits, and to lock the phone in you just set it in place and push the phone against that button which makes the arms grab on to the phone and lock it in until you're ready to remove it. Works awesome!
The ExoGear ExoMount is about $20, but the TechMatte mount is only $7.99 from Amazon right now! I expected it to be cheaply made and not function very well considering the price. I was shocked when it arrived as it is constructed very well, has 2 places to adjust the viewing angle, and works flawlessly!! I highly recommend the TechMatte car mount if you use a TPU case or or something similiar. If you use a large case, then the ExoGear will be the best choice.
Here's the link to the TechMatte car mount on Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00G3KN9LI/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?qid=1383323938&sr=8-8&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
TechMatte also makes a car mount similar to the ExoGear ExoMount. It is much cheaper in price, but I've never tried it so I can't speak of it's quality or function. Here's the link to it on Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FEOT32S/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1383323938&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

If you don't use your CD player (or don't switch CDs often), the Mountek mount is excellent. I've been using one for a couple of years, for phones and GPSs, and never had a problem, even on bumpy roads.

I love the Mountek. I think it is the best mount ever. The only bad thing is I just bought a Ford Flex with MyFord Touch, Nav and a 10" display, so that mount now blocks the screen. But I have no need to mount my new Note 3 since I just pair it with bluetooth, so it just sits in the center console tray now.

Thanks for showing the button. I've been wanting to get a car mount for awhile but the ones I looked like just didn't seem like they would lock into place very securely.
I do like TechMatte products. I have their screen protector on my iPhone 4S and my best friend has one for his Galaxy. Very nice products, great pricing. I think you may have convinced me to get the car mount. I could really use one.

You'll be very pleased with it! I have their screen protector on my Note 3 and love it. It is definitely the best I've ever used, and I've tired MANY different brands over the last 6-7 years of owning touch screen phones!
I agree with you though, I also have quite a few different TechMatte products and I'm thoroughly impressed with each and every one!

Running arm band

Any recommendations? I have only found one made for the N6 but there maybe one fit for the note series our iPhone 6+ that will work.
This is what I found: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OHFHOZ8/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_.WRCub1FY0X05
It's not an armband but i'm a large fan of the flip belt. It has no problem holding my iPhone plus, and i was able to keep using my current case.

Interesting. Do you run with it? Do you track your runs if you do, and is it accurate? Otherwise, for less than $10 the arm band in the OP looks decent to me.

I have not ran with it yet, too big to keep in the pocket and don't care for the idea of holding out.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered the running armband. I like the design of it better than the generic one I have for my Note II
Another Belt- based option.: http://www.amazon.com/SPIbelt-Small...e=UTF8&qid=1416851897&sr=1-1&keywords=spibelt
I grabbed one of these from a Running store a while back and have used it with my Galaxy S II (T989), Nexus 4, and now my Nexus 6. The nexus 6 is a bit of a tight fit but it works perfectly and does not fall down so long as you tighten the band correctly and have it above your hips, and not on them. I pair this with a cheaper BT stereo headset while running because I can't stand cords at all while working up a sweat.

Just had a 3 miles run with running buddy 6+. It attaches very well with my track pants. Nexus 6 snugs nicely (seems like it will fit well with snap on case) and do not bounce while running. It do feel awkward mainly due to how big phone is. I think will get used to in a while. Its definitely better than arm bands. Attached few pictures.
I was running yesterday with the Google Nexus 6 Easy Fitting Sport Case and Armband Combo from SUPCASE.
I'm really happy with the armband. It holds the Nexus 6 perfectly in place.

Does the rubber case part of the armband easily come off or is it pretty tight on the phone? I was thinking about getting this one.
On the front the case covers all the non-display area. The Phone sits tight in the case. To get the phone out I always pull on an edge on the bottem (2nd photo). So I have no problems to get the phone out of the case. The whole case consits of rubber.

Awesome. Thanks for the detailed reply and photos. Looks like I'll be purchasing one then!
I've always used TuneBelt. I went through AB86 for the Galaxy Nexus, then AB88 for the Nexus 5 (I had to order the AB88 from Germany because it was not available in the UK at the time).
As again, the TuneBelt is not available in the UK yet, I found this one on Amazon and gave it a try as it was so cheap http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00QV6849G?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 although knowing it was going to be crap.
Well, it's not completely crap, but you get what you pay for, no surprise, and it's too tight. It came with the cardboard insert for the Note 4. It's even tight for the Note 4! (tried with my son's)
So I just went ahead and ordered the AB92 from the Netherlands http://www.ipodhoes.nl/tune-belt-ab92-sport-armband.html
I probably won't be using it as armband at the gym as the phone is so big for my arm it looks ridiculous , but it's still more protection than just the case and with BT earphones I don't need it on me but I like to be able to see the screen for the HR monitor (with a pouch style it would not be possible).
I'll post pics when it arrives.

I'm using a Spigen SlimArmour case which is still quite big and it fits very well, it would even take a bigger case.
If you don't use a case, it might be a bit too big, maybe the AB91 would be best.

awesome! im getting my nexus 6 this week and i already have my seidio case for it. this is perfect! 16" max so looks like i gotta get the extender (i hate having to spend more money!). so i take it the headphone ports won't work, but i guess i can use my bluetooth headset instead
http://www.amazon.com/Armband-iPhone-Plus-5-5-display/dp/B00NMWWIJY/ref=pd_cp_cps_2
is this the one? looks like it's a little cheaper than their actual site, and i do have to buy the extension piece as well, so if i can save a few bucks here and there that would be great
I have the same one that xaraxx posted and love it
