I picked up a Chromecast recently, and would like to use my Nook Tablet (16g) with it. Nook is running Succulent's Android KitKat 4.4.4. I have Pandora, Netflix, Youtube, and Chrome(beta) Browser all streaming to the Chromecast. Hulu is the missing piece of this puzzle- I have the latest version of the app but there's still no Chromecast icon. After searching, found a Hulu help page with bad news: [/I]"* At this time, Hulu Plus is not available to stream through iPod touch, Kindle Fire, Nook, or Windows Phone 8 to Google Chromecast."[/I] Bummer.
Anybody found a way to get this to work? A special Hulu .apk, a different ROM, or maybe a modified build.prop? Something else?

Hi,
I am currently using good, old iPad 1.
Via VPN I have no problems with accessing Netflix and Hulu Plus.
All I had to do was to create additional iTunes accounts in USA to get those apps.
Not even jailbrake was required.
My question is (or are):
If I will get myself one of the above tablets (TF300 or Prime - on iPad I can not watch my mkv's 720p stored on my NAS drive) will I have problem/is is diable/etc. getting both Netflix and Hulu Plus to work?
One more thought... since ICS seems to be using some sort of Chrome browser for android... is it possible to fool Hulu that I am using desktop instead of mobile device in order to avoid Hulu Plus subscription (which is annoying since quite a lot of stuff I want to watch has description "web only" and will not run on iPad despite payment).
So, does anyone know how to get a HBO Go app on the Kindle Fire HDX that actually has the casting option for Chromecast? I tried side-loading a few APK's I found on Google but they are all no different than the Kindle version when they get installed and loaded up. This is driving me crazy.

Actually, most of the apk's you find that ARE NOT kindle versions, can be quite different. They can be anywhere from one to a dozen versions NEWER.
I installed the Chromecast app. Installed the latest versions of Netflix, Hulu+ & HBO Go from the Play Store & after using Chromecast app to find the Chromecast device, all of them have the "Cast" button available.

So your device is rooted then? (Since you have Play Store). I wonder if that makes a big difference. I have not installed the Chromecast App on the Kindle yet just HBO Go and it has no cast button. Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube all have it though.
Not here....
Netflix works fine with the sideloaded Chromecast apk here on on my unrooted HDX 7
Even works with Hola.
So my parents bought a Philips 48pfs8109/12 Smart TV (Android).
I want to set up something like Kodi so i can simplify the UI of the mediacenter we have, and to have them control the TV with the ipad.
I first looked at plex and tought i found the solution. So i bought a chrome cast and set everything up. The problem that occurred was that the video stutterd a lot because for some reason the streaming over wifi is not doing what is should do.
I do not think it is our internet speed since we have a decent connection and download and upload speed.
So since our TV is hooked up to the internet via Ethernet i wanted to use the TV as a receiver.
But the plex app kept asking for a PlexPass so that wasn't a solution either.
Then my eye caught XBMC or as it is called now Kodi but i cant find a way to set it up on my android tv.
I have rooted my tv, which i think means i can install unknown sources.
Maybe if i install the kodi android file on my tv. I will try that later today.
But if anyone knows a better way
PS: I also saw plexbmc and plexbmc helper which is nice because my parents like the plex ipad app.
Thanks in advance!
Install spmc from Google Play
Long story short...
I setup a freenas tower and originally I had been running lots of server type application on linux VM's on my windows machine. Now I use jails to accomplish everything and I no longer need to run that computer 24/7. That computer was also solely connected to my TV which I no longer need or want to leave running 24/7.
I am currently running an Amazon Fire TV Stick and I really like it but it does not quite do everything that I want! And I was curious if you guys had any suggestions.
Plex App (Should be avaialable on all devices)
Typical movie/tv apps; HBO Go, Netflix, Hulu, etc (Also should be available on everything)
Amazon Prime Instant Video App ( really want this to be an app, and not loaded via the web)
A chrome browser (This would really help replace my desktop)
Wireless keyboard and mouse support
OpenVPN would be nice, but I do not think this is available without sideloading... which is possible
Currently looking at the new Amazon Fire TV and sideloading the Chrome browser. The Fire TV Stick does a decent job, but after its been on for a while it can get studder-y and choppy with HD video. So I was looking into an upgrade but havent trouble finding these specifics out. I would love you all's input!
Hey all,
i am looking for an app to screencast from my rooted 4.2 Jellybean tablet.
I found various "screencast" or "screenmirror" app that allow me to take videos of my screen OR apps to stream "ANY VIDEO!!!" from my phone to my chromecast...
Officially, screen mirroring is available from 4.4 KitKat.
The only casting i can do is app-specific like Youtube, Google Music - but there is non to simply cast my whole screen
There is this ominous app called #MirrorEnabler (http://lifehacker.com/mirror-enabler-brings-chromecast-screen-mirroring-to-mo-1604683876) - but it vanished completly from the forum...
Background: Im trying to bring my Amazon prime videos to my chromecast... i have the videos running on my (legacy) tablet in the amazon app (which doesnt support chromecast), but not on my TV just yet
Thanks!
