Have been using GPE 5.0.1 by Danvdh and the camera sucks its laggy and pictures are blurry. Also i have audio stuttering while listening to music from my SD card. Since nobody else had the issue never complained about it. So i am thinking to go back to Touch Wiz. What are my options? I am on MDK unlocked bootloader. Looking for something stable without any worries.
Try this, it may not have been updated for a while but the dev only releases ROMs that are 100% stable. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2351840

Using this ROM and it's great. Nitro is a very good developer. He developed for my old phone 4 years ago. Stable back then, stable now :cyclops:
I second using Eclipse.... I used it on my Droid X2 and have used it on my S4. great rom.

The BEST of anything is something that is opinion and that you need to decide for yourself. A ROM might have a buggy camera but a user does not notice because they never use the camera....so the BEST thing to do is to back up and try a few and find what is BEST for you..of course after reading the development thread to see if there are issues and fixes listed in the thread.
Happy Flashing!
how can i add more toggles in the eclipse rom?
do i have to buy galaxy gadgets?

I am looking for the current most stable rom for the SGH-i777 with minimal amount of known issues. Any suggestions? I'm currently on CM7.1 but it keeps on freezing on me so that gets to be a deal breaker.

Thanks Ill take a look at unnamed. Does it by any chance support NFC? I know the i777 comes with and NFC chip but CM7 doesn't play nice with it.
I've had good luck for a while using CM7.2 RC1 but more recently have been very happy using the nightlies for CM9.
+1 on UnNamed 2.2.1. I used that one for several months with no issues at all. Though I've heard some people had wifi issues.
I'm now on Mystic's Pride, an ICS rom in the Ported Development forum. I've been on it for a week now with no problems at all.
Your best bet is to try roms for yourself and see which ones work for you. That's what I do.
For example, I tried shostock2 for a few days, it ran smooth, battery was great, but I could not get used to the Apex launcher. So I moved on to another rom.
Thanks for all your replies. I decided to flash UnNamed and im just in love with it. I might eventually try an ICS rom but for now im perfectly happy with Unnamed
If you're interested in ICS, give shostock a try. I've been running it since rc5 and it's very smooth and stable.
If you're interested in trying other gingerbread ROMs, I got the best battery life and stability on shostock 1.9.4. If there were any apps that I missed from UnNamed, I just pulled them from the .zip using root explorer. The only reason I left it was to try out ICS. Glad you're enjoying the phone so far.
How about try them all and see which one is stable for you?

There is no BEST and yet they are all the BEST. Members are expected to research and read through the development threads before altering their device. The only thing you will get here is a list of all the ROM's because every member has found what is best for them. You can get the same list by looking at the first few pages in development.

Hi. first of all I just want to say that I'm a big admirer of XDA forums I've been following the forums for quite some time on various phones but I'm not very active in posts / replies due to my inexperience.
I'm sick of AT&T taking forever to give us ICS and I'm not willing to wait just to get a whole bunch of bloatware and the same old touchwiz. I've come across two good roms: Onlyone and Objection. I'm kind of leaning towards Objection because It's giving me two UI options: Android 4 and the new Touchwiz, but from the replies I got the impression that Onlyone is more stable. Are there any ROMS that use the official ICS code released by Samsung or not yet?
Here are my main concerns: battery life, ROM stability and speed, and of course the good additions like updated touchwiz, S-voice, etc.
Try them all and see which you like best. Nobody can tell you which is best, because that is purely opinion based. There aren't that many, so just learn how to use titanium backup so switching between roms doesn't take too long.

Are you running tablet or phone mode?
If you prefer the unmodified, pure Android experience that you would get on a Nexus device, you can come close with a CyanogenMod based ROM. These are my personal favorites as they are practically bloat-free and don't have any carrier/manufacturer customizations. The downside on the Note is that there is no S-Note/S-Memo. Hopefully the CM devs will get these apps to work eventually, but the S-Pen does work.
If you like the TouchWiz interface then try one of the TW/ICS leak based ROMs such as OnlyOne. That was the first ICS ROM I tried and I liked it, but overall I prefer CM9.
you can try those ROMs from this guy - flappjaxxx. They are the unofficial CM9 ROM and UCLE2 stock-base ROM. They are really solid, stable, daily drivers and supported well by the awesome developer. These roms get very good comments from XDA-users.
I've tried every single rom.
for CM9- I'd use Mesosphere the rest were pretty unstable.
For Ucle2 + S-pen functionality i'd use FJ's Build. Onlyone was laggy for me.

That being said I am a big fan of flappjaxxx's UCLE2 rom.
My recommendation is to go with the Unofficial build of CM9 by h0tw1r3.
Nothing beats the cleanliness of AOSP, and the added features that Cyanogen throws in are well worth it.
I have been running it since he released the first build and it is extremely stable. And thanks to CalcProgrammer1, it was just updated and we may even see nightly builds.

Hi
I am having a USC NOTE II
As the development is 0 here at XDA for USC version, I am thinking about using a
VERIZON version of latest stock debloated, deodexed, zipaligned, with initd tweaks , and other optimizations.
We can use VZN or sprint Roms on our NOTE II by flashing a Converter after the ROM flash.
plz suggest the ROM based on the latest Build
( will also post at the sprint forums as well )
god bless
I would suggest reading up on the options in the Development section...there are a ton of choices. You can choose between Touchwiz based or AOSP roms depending on your needs (and how much you like the Touchwiz features). I personally have stuck with TW and have been using Beans from Build 6 on. Jedi looks interesting so I may try that one soon. If you the the latest build (4.2.2) check out the original android dev section, but read carefully as I think there are still some issues with bluetooth on that build and it takes some work to come back to 4.1.1.
Scott just released CleanROM ACE 4.6 a few hours ago. It's stock, optimized, debloated, and the latest. There you go lol
Thanks guys.

This. I'm over aosp roms. Beans TW rom is the best imho for this phone. Sure I love other roms like Eclipse by Scott/Nitro but for the stock debloated feature full rom....beans is where it's at.

I suggest beans too, but it's not really stock looking, it looks more like aosp, with full stock functionality. I prefer it to stock but just not sure if that's what you're looking for. The only thing with using Scott's(Scrolser's) latest ROM's is they are based on the international(which may be ok with you) but people have issues getting GPS without flashing a stock/VZW and getting a lock first. VRALL4 is the latest stock VZW base. I'd suggest maybe using the Clean ROM VZW edition.

but i thought i should share this
I have been using VZN - Clean Rom Ace on my Note 2 ( USC ) since past few days after flashing the vzn to ussc converter , i must say it runs pretty smooth and am pretty happy with it
just want to remove some vzn services and apks , if anyone can point out
TY
I'm thinking of jumping to the CM nightles, but the new LOTK Rom seems pretty sweet as well.
I've also been thinking of trying out the cleaned up TW ROMs (cleanROM and Hyperdrive). Not really sure what Hyperdrive is, though....
so, yeah. What ROM are you using? Pros, cons?
Running the Jellybeans rom . Everything is running great no issues at all.
I'm running Hyperdrive. Love this ROM!!! I'm also running it on my Note 10.1 and ran it on my SG3. Super smooth and lots of customization options.
Hyperdrive here too.......lots of options to tweak and runs smooth as buttah!
Tried a couple
I tried CM Nightly and AOKP yesterday (both based on stock Android). Both seemed like they were getting close to good daily driver. I'm looking for something based on stock. Both seemed to have GPS issues and AOKP had camera issues as well. I really liked the features on AOKP. (I used to run AOKP on previous phone a GNex). I'll be trying AOKP again soon to see if some of those issues are fixed.
What I really want (may be fantasy) is a stock (or at least stock looking) rom that still has IR blaster, Pedometer & maybe some of the camera features. I also want (again, maybe fantasy) a rom that allows super easy transfer of apps and app data to SD. Right now it looks complicated to transfer and maintain apps on the SD card, especially if one flashes new roms often.

Which rom is this? does it require anothr kernel?
roms
I have run gruesome, hyper drive and beans. ( I think I am an addict. ) they are all really cool. I love the one button kill which is in both gruesome and hyperdrive. beans is also very nice with full blocking mode enabled in one of the framework mods . beans lacks the one button kill though. I have run the faux kernel against all of these a recommend that. I would like to try clean rom next then some of the original development. I love some of the TW fluff. Having said all that, I tried the gruesome wolf rom first so it had to be changed to try more. but I would have probably stuck with it. it was super stable and I am new at this but the thread is super quiet. my money is that their release three will be dope.

I am also using 'Beans' Rom. Fantastic so far. Flashed it with ktoonsez' kernel and it flies. No issues at all. I like to put Nova launcher on it to get that stock vanilla feel while still having the features and functionality of TouchWiz. Dev did a great job debloating the rom as well. All the useless apps Samsung put on the phone (amazon, trip advisor, etc) were removed. Also the ongoing wifi notification icon is gone which really bugged the crap out of me. All in all, best rom on my GS4 so far. Highly recommended. :good::highfive:

I'm watching that thread, but waiting for it to get out a few releases first. I've seen PA in various other areas of XDA (for use on other phones) so I'm confident that its going to be a great ROM even though I haven't personally used it.
With that being said, right now I'm on rooted stock but once Hyperdrive RC3 is released I'll be flashing that (still need to figure out what kernel is recommended)!
I'm currently using CM. It's good so far. I'd be using Hyperdrive, but I get stuck on boot (Samsung Galaxy S4 logo, no padlock). I'm happy with it though, it's a great rom. Spend a day with each rom that seems interesting to you before you make up your mind on what you want to use.
CM is the only ROM I run. I love it.

New person, new thread, same story.
Not reading.
I have used both Hyperdrive RSL4 and CleanROM 1.5, and I am sticking with CleanROM. My reasoning is that Hyperdrive is a little too buggy for me, even though it has more tweaks and customization options.
Before you settle on one of those two you should definitely check out Gruesome and Sac's ROM. I haven't tried CleanROM but I was on the latest version of HyperDrive and Sacs blows it out of the water.

CleanROM...I hear Sac's is good too. It really depends what you are looking for. Hyperdrive has too much customization for my liking...I like stock look and feel with all the bloat gone and optimizations done. If thats what your looking for then CleanROM or Sac's is probably the way to go.
