I have a hurricane and i would like to upgrade it to WM6.1..
But now i want a guide! Because the last time i just did it, i bricked it.. The SPL flash went wrong and now the hurricane is dead.. completely dead.. But unfortunally i have another one i wish to try it on but i need an exact guide..
And then i suspect my other hurricane to be some kind of prototype.. I flashed the "patched_ruu" and it went fine but after that i just got a white screen and now the device dosn't work.. I have tried to get help but as it seems it is not repairable.. So i would like to know if the device i have is a "genuine" hurricane? How can i check that?
The other hurricane i had was not branded.. Nothing was stated on the cover.. The one i want to flash now is branded "Qtek 8200" and the splash screen says "Test Only - Not for sale"
Can somebody help me here ? Iam afraid to brick this device too !
Guys damned i need some help here !
There are more than enough upgrade guides. Just look into the longer WM5 or WM6 threads and make sure that the ROM you downloaded really is intended for your device. Don't just assume and better check twice. HTC devices have confusingly many codenames and are sold under dozens of different brand names. Even some people writing guides confuse one or the other model.
Sorry, I know this is the answer you just didn't want. But reading the threads provides just the kind of information you need if you don't want to brick the second phone.

Dirk

I assumed it was a rom intended for my device, cause the rom i downloaded was in the WM6 from this forum.. The guide in the thread i found isn't very desciptive.. Others have downloaded and got it to work on their device but somehow i did something wrong OR it could be because my device was a sample.
No one with a little spare time ?
I've been given a SGS2 to mess about with and I'm having a bit of trouble with it.
The first thing I'm confused about it which variant I have.
I see on the sticker under the battery
Model: GT-I9100
SSN: I9100GSMH
Does that mean its the 'G' variant?
I think it was on Orange UK previously.
The second thing I confused by is the different flashing and rooting options.
I see you can use ODIN or CWM, you can use ODIN to flash pit/kernel/CSC/PDA files etc.
However, I've read references to using insecure kernels to allow rooting causing warning triangles and there being better methods.
Some refer to PIT files needing to be used to fix soft-bricks and some posts say never use them.
I'm just really confused by there being so many conflicting posts.
If anyone can answer some of the questions, even if it's just with links to helpful posts/threads I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance all.
It is NOT the G variant.
G variant would say:
Model: GT-i9100G
Regarding the SSN: portion, the G following I9100 is part of the "GSM" portion of the string, identifying what type of phone it is.
In terms of reading: start here.
Perfect, thanks.
Hi everyone
First time post here so, hello...
I have recently bought what i thought was a Samsung Galaxy S3 but on further inspection it appears to be a fake.
Some things that are wrong include:
Battery says Sunsung
Baseband version: MAUI.11AMD.W11.50.SP.V20 2012/07/13 18:23
Kernel version: 3.0.13 [email protected]#1 Sat Aug 4 02:00:11 CST 2012
Build number: IMM76D.I9300ZSALE9
Custom build version: 1344016820
Any ways i was wondering if any one knows if it possible to flash the phone to a relatively new version of cyanogenmod?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
seems you got a mediatek (mtk) clone.
Not only will they not run the official operating system including aftermarket ones like Cm (completely different hardware) but they are vastly less powerful and have less interesting hardware than the real S3.
Additionally they don't tend to live very long and have lots of issues.
Try to return it if possible and go to local police.
If you imported it from eg China you're out of luck, buh then again how do u expect an original from there?

I also have mediatek version of an s3..GT-i9300.. If not root and I hope not offensive, many of us cannot afford such an expensive devise. However, Android is and will always will be an open source project... meaning the platform is simply a measure of fire power.. What i realy want to say is that my devise may not be original samsung.. but my OS is Andoid for sure.. and I think developers in this forum are assisting with andoid development and not samsung development.
I am looking for a compatible rom for MEDIATEK version of S3 GT-i9300. So far i came across needrom.com and also on xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358560 where some discussion are ongoing.. (i do note that the scatter file selection is not mentions (where to get the scatter file). I downloaded a zip archive (ROM) and after extracting, it didnt have a scatter.txt file..
I would like to ask if cynogenmod (any) builds are compatible/can be installed? I need advise on available roms...or how to find if one will be compatible..
Thanks in advance for the valuable time...and the understanding..

Cyanogenmod only supports the original S3 devices so you'll have no luck on finding one. And roms for clones are scarce so i'm afraid you'll have to find a dedicated forum that supports your device.
There is a cm9 that booted by superdragonpt but its just way too buggy as he stated, he fixes one error two new ones come out, complete scource code can hardly be found for it. so we are stuck with just theming and modding and if you like to get your hands dirty, heres a thread with guides compatible for mtk phones http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369586

As said either find a fake forum or build a rom yourself .
Knowledge of fake/ clone is not on this forum .
Simply its not a Samsung product and questions should be posted in a Mediatek forum .

You are wrong. This forum is for android development of the gt-i9300 international galaxy s3. Nothing else. None of us have your device so we cannot help with development, methods, processes or roms.
There are general forums to teach how to develop android for a device generally but without drivers, source code etc, you won't get far. Either way though, this is not the place for that.
Regardless of what you can afford, you must seek out your own forum for your own device. Your device has nothing in common with this device or this forum. It doesn't even share any hardware.

I at no time mentioned that the GTi9300 MTK i have is anything common with "your"device.. i am saying is, both are android platform (samsung or AOSP) and development forums are to discuss on issues faced during tweaks.. sorry to ask here... if thats the reason u were offended.
the name of the post here is "ROOTING/FLASHING CYNOGENMOD ON "FAKE" S3... i think i am in the correct place?

You don't understand either. Android is open source, but is also phone specific ! In each built you have a kernel that runs specific drivers for in built hardware present in your phone!
And for that cm devs need code source. And I think above all that's it's a 'ethical' reason. If cm supports border line illegal clones, it will officialize them.
Those phones are totally different it's exactly the same than asking in a HTC forum why they can't provide you a Rom for your Sony.

So is motorola razr. Truth is posting here is no different to posting in the razr forum. You chose this forum because it looks the same but the similarity ends there.
This forum is for the international s3 only. Not razr. Not clone.

Fake Samsung Galaxy
i bought a fake samsung galaxy notes 4,
when i use it i get a lot af advertisement and doesnt let me to do anything
i know is hard to fix but is it something that i can get from it instead of throwing it to he garbage , like using it as a camera or as a home tablet or else
please your comments
I bought a phone in mainland China (Huawei Enjoy 5s, TAG-AL00). I found out the hard way that they actually set the phone up so google won't work on it. First thing I did was try the APK download, this doesn't work however, it seems that I need a new ROM to get get rid of the Chinese stuff they put on it.
I searched around online, I found essentially no information to help me. The best I've found is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/huawei-enjoy-5-tit-al00-install-google-t3274461
However as you can see the model number is slightly different and the TAG-AL00 has come up a couple of times in this the above thread but there haven't been any answers as to whether or not the ROM will work on the TAG-AL00 model. The TIT-AL00 is called Enjoy 5, so the model name is similar, I am sceptical however as the model number is different. Also the GR3 models have the model number TAG-something (no something = AL00 though).
I have asked anyone who has the TAG-AL00 if they managed to get it working, no replies however.
Similarly for this thread which is specific to the model I have, no solutions however.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/huawei-enjoy-5s-tag-al00-install-google-t3360697
I have no idea if the TIT-AL00 ROM would work on the TAG model. I am willing to give it a go and see, since there seems to be few other options. What sort of consequences would I expect if it is not compatible? Would it be possible for me to do this and recover the phone if things went badly?
I've found only this ROM download, however since this appears to be the official ROM and to my knowledge the TAG-AL00 model only seems to be available in China, the ROM may well still block google anyway.
http://www.needrom.com/download/enjoy-5s-tag-al00/#comments
Would creating my own custom ROM be a viable option, or maybe my only option? I've had a look at this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801690
I'm a N00B when it comes to this, I've never rooted an android device before. The closest i've come to something related was flashing Raspian to and SD card when setting up a RaspberryPi. Creating a custom ROM is definitely something I'd want to get into though, so maybe this would be a better option anyway?
Given the lack of responses surrounding the TAG-AL00 model, I'm not expecting any solutions. But perhaps someone could maybe point me in the best direction, or give some general advice (for a N00B who has never rooted an android) on what I could do to get google services working on this device.

Ok thanks
Hello and let me first apologize if this has already been explained in detail.
I am trying to decipher the meaning behind all the numbers and letters in the samsung galaxy firmware files. I already understand the differences between the bl, ap, cp, and csc, along with the regions. The parts that elude me do not seem to be covered in all of the digging and research.
Here is what I am looking for: the name of the baseband file is G950USQS3CRE2 (this is purely for example and does not reflect the only files I've been trying to break down).
Obviously I understand the model number portion (G950U), and I know this is a bl v3, along with being released may of 2018 (RE#). What i can't seem to figure out is the SQS and what exactly the C stands for (besides that its a linear progression).
Any help would be extremely appreciated!
