Hey. Just got a Verizon LG G3 off my friend. I cracked the screen of my s4 and my girlfriend used my upgrade to get the iphone 6 so i couldn't upgrade myself. When i was using my galaxy s4 i had LTE speeds everywhere i go.
I googled the apn settings for At&t and put them into the G3 i have. It is working with HSPA+ But not LTE. I put my same sim card into my mom's at&t galaxy s5 and LTE pops back up. So LTE is clearly working in my area. But the g3 isn't picking it up, Am i doing something wrong? I've done research before i bought the phone and it people said Verizon LG G3 does support the LTE bands At&t uses. So am i doing something wrong???

Only supports ONE band that ATT uses. Which is band 4. Which is the backbone of ATT and Tmobiles LTE. So it should be able to connect to it. Do you live in a major city?

ATT uses band 4 and 17. Band 4 is the only one supported. From what I have read 3 is more for Europe.

Yeah I know, but I was trying to explain the reason about why I was not sure if band 4 was available to unlock.
I live in Costa Rica but I bought an Lg G3 Verizon phone from eBay that happens to work in here as well, the band 3 is the one my carrier uses, so I was only interested in unlock that one.
I took an screenshot of the available bands to unlock by following the link I posted.
P.S: sorry if it wasn't clear, English is not my native language ?
I have a Verizon LG G3 on Cricket Wireless (which is owned and operated by AT&T) and I get LTE on mine everywhere I go. The reason is because I have the 10b modem installed. ANY modem after 12b disables LTE on other networks except for Verizon. You need to totally restore your phone to stock (including 10b radio). There is a thread here on XDA somewhere that tells you step by step how to restore your G3 to stock and 10b radio.
Rooting and installing a custom recovery, then installing 10b modem will not work at this point. I tried that. It WOULD NOT let me use 10b radio until I completely returned to stock. Then of course I rooted and installed custom recovery.
I also have to use Cyanogenmod or another AOSP ROM because stock roms have the newer radios and disable my LTE.
Hope this helps!

Perhaps it would be good to wait for T-mo LTE.... should be soon depending on where you are.

no, I just get 2g, but the convert to nexus 4 work well, just like I am using nexus 4, lg optimus g and nexus 4 are brother, why the 1700mhz can not be activate even when I convert to n4?
t-mo does not even use 1700 on their Nexus4.

band 4 aws is 1700mhz
lg OG have 4g lte on band 4 but tmobile use band 4 but doesn't have lte

You know, I have tried this code before on here and it didn't work (which is funny because I thought it was deep in android).
After you type the last * the code vanishes from the dialer like it is going to run, but nothing comes up. I can get into some of the other dialer secret menus though, for instance, I was able to get into the network lock menu using 2945#*970#.
since I convert OG to nexus 4, I can use *#*#4636#*#*, but when I change the prefer network to lte, it comes up with no signal,

Well the N4 doesn't have LTE... so yeah, that makes sense.
It is even stated in the conversion post the LTE doesn't work.
The hardware may be there but your new MakOG doesn't know that.

Hi,
So I've read the FCC documents located here: LINK
Page 1 and Page 5 are the most interesting! These state that the Verizon model SCH-i545 will have AWS band 4 (of course 13 too) which does support T-mobiles LTE network right? It never states 1700/1200 frequencies.
Thing I want to know from the pros is will this phone indeed offer LTE support for T-Mobile or and I'm just seeing things?
Also, for all the other people that are wondering if the ATT model will offer LTE support for T-Mobile as well? It will since it supports both bands 4 and 17 But wait is that AWS band 4?... the jury is out on that! -_-
Many Thanks

If I am correct, Verizon phones do not use sim cards (CDMA) and AT&T and T-Mobile are GMS (sim phones). So even if the bands are supported, I don't see how a Verizon phone would work on T-Mobile or AT&T unless they are CDMA / GSM dual phones. And even then they would have to be unlocked.

All of the major Verizon releases over the past year have come GSM unlocked. They are world phones that contain GSM and CDMA radios. I'm using a Verizon iPhone 5 on the Straight Talk (AT&T) network currently.
All lte phones have sim cards as it is a gsm technology. My girls verizon gs3 has a sim. As far as it being compatible that is a hell of a question.

Yes! I sold my iPhone 4s to get Samsung galaxy s4 and it sold to someone over in the UK world (Ireland) that says it works! Lol.
I've also seen threads about sim unlocking the Verizon S3 for domestic and international use. Some people use HiAPN as system app along with other steps and viola... Working on whatever network you want
Question is... Am I seeing right that Verizon S4 will support AWS Band 4 for t-mobile?

Hey this is one question i have lingering on my mind. How is the StraightTalk connection? Is it any good? Are there call drop issues? And do they have data plans?
if i buy a tmobile s4 will it work on verizon??
I know most things are under the catagory of speculation/rumor but i was wanting to to check out tmobile network for a bit.... the no contract is appealing. If i bought the phone outright and ending up not liking tmobile i would switch to verizon. Short of selling the tmobile and getting a verizon phone i was wondering about just activating the same phone on verizon?
Will there be "one phone" in US or would they all have thier own modem chips i guess is the real question....
thanks for the guesses and speculat'n!
You have to consider its Verizon and they have 700Mhz LTE and you can't roam on AT&T's 700Mhz so I would not expect to access Verizons AWS spectrum on T-Mobile or vice versa. Remember when they said LTE was the unifying spectrum to allow for easier use across networks and carriers, well that was a pile of BS.
Great news, but I heard verizon was purposely going to burn in their logo onto the amoled screens.

Wrong: those "700mhz" frequencies are different bands. Both T-Mobile and Verizon are building out LTE on the same band: 4 (AWS). They will be interoperable device-wise.
AT&T also owns a lot of AWS, and though they're currently running LTE on it only in one market (somewhere in Oklahoma IIRC), all their LTE devices do come with band 4 enabled.
The more I read about the differences, the more I'm convinced that the Verizon model is more cross compatible with all other services. It's still the only CDMA model. But it's also gsm unlocked if you know how to program APNs. Any thoughts?

if we ever get to the point where we don't need 3g at all any more (CDMA) and we can get VoLTE and use the LTE band exclusively that will eliminate a lot of the incompatability between Verizon and GSM carriers .

When we get to that point, Verizon will basically be a GSM carrier. Considering LTE is just an evolution GSM, both developed by 3GPP.

Not just Google...all the manufacturers could do it. But...don't get your hopes up. That situation is not in the carriers' nor major manufacturers' interests, and they sit on the standards bodies. No one represents the users/customers.

I have been reading and searching online to find the definitive answer to this question. I am currently using a straight talk compatible sim in my verizon galaxy s4 and it works great - of course straight talk does not use LTE so I am limited to 3g speeds. I'm also trying to find out if it is possible to use a tmobile sim in the verizon galaxy s4 and get 3g speeds? How about LTE? The appropriate radios seem to be installed but I am not sure if that is enough. Has anyone done any testing on this front?
Thanks!
If you go into your hidden menus and dig around enough you will find options to enable the WCDMA and GSM radios. Back when I tanked my sim card I was digging through the menus for hours and at one point under network options I could see AT&T and T-Mobile signal even though I didn't have the SIM to actually connect.
I would imagine if I had the sim I could have connected no problem.
But because the menus are so deep and obnoxiously laid out, I don't have more specifics on where all to navigate to find the right options.

You didn't get any signal because nothing was turned on in your hidden menus to allow it.
And yes, loads of frequencies listed for LTE, WCDMA, and GSM.
You have to enable hidden menu. Then start digging. Like I said there are too many options/submenus for me to remember exactly where everything was.
If someone really wants to get their phone on another network it is possible. They just have to really want it and therefore really put in the time to dig.

It's really not that hard. You just need to be able to add the APN for T-Mobile. The VZ phone is already unlocked. I also just flashed one of mine back to the MDK baseband (radio/modem) and it also supports T-Mobile LTE where I am. Coincidentally, it gets 2 bars + LTE in this particular location in LA whereas the T-Mobile GS4 with Tmob radio is getting 1 bar + LTE.

Sorry, I'm afraid that one's not going to (easily) happen. The phone may or may not have the hardware for it, but you'd need the right radio to enable the LTE band that AT&T uses. Right now, I don't know of one, and I don't feel like playing with the AT&T radios to see if they would happen to flash properly to enable things. T-Mobile & AT&T use relatively identical phones and can run LTE on each other's respective networks. So, I'd say, use one of their hardware sets on AT&T. I use AT&T LTE on a Nexus 5 and a T-Mobile GS4, but I can only get H+ on the VZ GS4 on AT&T. The VZ phone does do the T-Mobile LTE band just fine, though.

I was able to get LTE with AIO Wireless sim by toggling to LTE/GSM Auto(PRL). It seems to pickup Band 4 for ATT.
My 2 cents.
Does this still work?
I have a heightened interest in switching to T-Mobile now that they will pay for my early termination fee. I have a rooted VZW S4, added a new apn, and I am using an older sim card but i can't get it to connect to t-mobiles network. What all needs to be done to my phone in order for it to work. I did some research and saw that tmobile and verizon have the same LTE frequency and band.
EDIT (1/10/2014: I bought an activation kit at Walmart and activated the sim card. I am not connected.
I'm also using a Verizon Galaxy S4 with Straight Talk (ATT SIM). I have voice and text, but no data. I've changed the APN with no luck. I tried it in my Verizon Galaxy S3 and received E (Edge data) which was CRAZY slow. Any suggestions? I have a ATT Galaxy S4 Active being delivered today, so I guess it doesn't really matter, but very curious why I can't get any data on my Verizon S4 through Straight Talk.

Well, Verizon started deploying their XLTE which uses the AWS spectrum since last year. Their latest article in September states they are in over 400 markets already. http://www.verizonwireless.com/news...ing-exalted-the-verizon-wireless-network.html. So it is pretty safe to say if you are in a big city, it is already deployed.
Thanks so much, but I am going to buy this phone, how we can confirm this?
As far as I know T-mobile also support band4 LTE, how did Verizon and T-mobile handle this?

My Verizon LG G3 gets LTE on band 4 from both Verizon and T-Mobile , depending on which sim is in. It also gets band 13 LTE when the Verizon sim is in.

Thanks, buddy, is that saying if I am using Verizon SIM card
I can use Band 4 LTE service at all states?
BTW, I am in NJ right now.
The Verizon sim means the Verizon G3 can access any available Verizon data connection anywhere. That G3 though does not support all the T-Mobile and ATT LTE bands, just some.
Ok, I'm buying a G3 thats for Verizon but for my T-Mobile service. I want to flash roms etc and I'm coming from a unlocked T-Mobile Note 2. Anything I should know before I buy it? Is it fine with T-Mobile?
T-Mobile runs on GSM network and Verizon runs on CDMA so the two won't work.

I thought it was SIM unlocked and worked

Don't give false information if you have no idea what you're talking about? If this information were true, how am I using a Verizon G3 on ATT with LTE?
The Verizon G3 is unlocked so it will work on either T-Mobile and ATT. It picks up LTE and HSPA+ on both networks. But LTE depends on what frequency is used in your area.

Alright, you got it
LTE on band4 works fine on the vs985 on both T-Mobile and Cricket pre-paid. H+ gsm works as a fallback, too. Verizon phones have had GSM radios since at least the Droid3, if they were "World Phones", like ALL current LTE models are. Verizon used to require a code be entered before GSM would work, and even then no USA GSM networks would work. But that's all in the past.

every lollipop rom will pop up with a call forwarding hass been disabled bug that happens when dropping for lte to H or H+
it will work but the bug will annoy you all the time and i never was able to find away to disable it
4.4.4 roms work amazing tho so id say stick to those for now

Actually it will work. I'm using mine on T-Mobile now. 4g lte is limited since verizon g3 only supports one band thats compatible with tmobile. But hspa+ or regular 4g works, spa or 3g works edge gprs all of those work.
