[FIXED]!
Hey guys, I am having some trouble working with ADB with my kindle fire HDX 7". I have dev options enabled and ADB Debugging. But when i connect my Kindle Fire HDX 7" it does no show the drive on my Mac but Android File Transfer reads it fine. So, thinking that it is fine I install ADB and Fastboot. But, anytime when I try to locate my device in ADB (adb devices) it doesn't show up. Thinking it might be a bug with my computer not showing it as a drive I try to use a command but it says: error: device not found. (Or something like that.) I hope someone could help me on why my device does not work with ADB. I am using Fire OS 4.5.2 (Un-Rooted.)
Make sure you have Amazon's drivers installed.

Does this work for Mac? (I see the AVD thingy for Mac.)
Oh, nevermind I got it to work. Thanks alot for your help!

I am trying to root a Kindle Fire HD 8.9" running version 7.4.6 using Qemu.
The Kindle is already recognized as an ADB device using the necessary drivers. The Issue occurs when I run Qemu.
Without admin privileges it starts the whole reboot cycle but does not have the necessary permissions and fails
With admin privileges it gives the error that "ADB is not a recognized internal, external command, executable program or batch file"
How can I get past this?
Thanks

You need to run Root by Restore first, I have never personally had to use Qemu, root by restore has worked for me everytime!

Oh Windows with your stupid drivers and topheavy system...
You need to remove your current drivers and install the HDX drivers from Amazon's website. I don't use Windows, so that's as far as I can help you.

Thanks let me have a try
I am completely confused, I have no os on the HDX but do have safestrapv4.1. I am trying to sideload a rom.zip to the HDX from my windows7 laptop, but after trying loads of command lines I'm still trying to understand I don't think I'm any closer. I have Android studio, minimal ADB and Fastboot installed.
My Laptop see's the HDX as 'unspecified' device, allows to eject but not open so I can copy a rom to the HDX. Recovery shows files but for the life of me I have no idea how I get a file from my desktop to the HDX.
edit:the thread title is more confusing than my objective. @unsoft brick this broken b1tch.
Hi guys, I've been tearing my hair out for the past 24hrs trying to get ADB to communicate with my devices (Amazon Fire tablet + Nexus 5x).
I've installed ADB and drivers for my devices. They currently show up as Android Device > Google Nexus ADB Interface (ClockworkMod driver installed) and Android Device > Android Composite ADB Interface (Amazon.com driver installed).
I have enabled ADB on my Amazon Fire tablet (5th Gen - 5.1.3) and USB debugging on my Nexus 5x.
When I run ADB, all it sees is my Fire tablet but says "unauthorized" next to it.
On both devices, when plugged into the computer via USB, I get no message about enabling the computer to access the device etc. They just sit there, charging with "USB Debugging Connected" on both devices.
Could someone point me in the right direction to get ADB communicating properly with both devices? I originally wanted to use it to root my Fire Tablet to load a different OS on to it, so I used my Nexus 5x to see if that could communicate with ADB but it appears that neither do.... properly anyway.
Another flag that I'm wondering is that in Device Manager, I do have an exclamation mark next to a USB controller - I've found drivers for it (Renesas USB 3.0 Host Controller) - but it came up with an error saying the device cannot start (code 10) - I don't think this is anything to do with my issue as the drivers are installed correctly it appears for the Android devices.
Thanks a lot in advance.
I've done it! I had to delete adbkey from .android folder on my PC - god knows why! all fixed though. yay.
So right now I have no home menu for my kindle fire as that application. Is broken.. Also I need help getting adb installed, because windows 10 is rediclous. My idea was to install 5.1.2 os launcher. or other wise known as amazon launcher. Which is responsible for homenu via adb. (my fire is rooted so no need to flip over that) But overall I need someway of getting the launcher or just simply reinstalling 5.1.2 but I like I said. I need adb to be properly installed and windows 10 is not working with me on this. (and its also annoying to know that microsoft forced my shift right click for command prompt to power shell. so I have to type cmd every single time.)
UPDATE: I forced installed through adb a older version of the fire os which works fie. however I lost my option to side load through adb, or apply updates through adb... how do i fix that? the version I have at the moment is now 4.5.3
