Its an accessabilty setting
Its for deaf people i think, try checking that menu in your settings

It's hearing aid compatibility. The setting should be under call settings, in the settings menu obviously.

It is as @gamer649 and @Envious_Data suggest. Under call Settings is an option for 'Hearing aids', you get that type of icon when option for this is ticked. The icon is basically telling you that hard of hearing option of some sort is selected.
Check this post later, if you have other icons that you donĀ“t now what they do or are. http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1-Z1s/Unidentified-icon-on-status-bar/td-p/424605

Thanks guys

Hi all,
can someone help me, I seem to have a stuck notification on my stock ics s3.
I'm pretty sure that icon means there are more notifications than can be displayed, but you can see there are no notifications.
I have restarted phone and its still there. any ideas?

[Q] Text To speech on selected text

I wonder if there is ability to replicate this feature from iOS :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
In iOS you can turn on Accessibility function that add the "Speak" button to the "selection menu". And if you click, it would turn on Text To Speech engine and read selected text. Can I do the same thing in Android ?
Thank you very much.
PS: I assume that regular app could not modify "copy, paste, cut menu" so I probably need custom ROM. (I'm particularly interested Nexus 7 2013 solution, but I assume that solution should be universal because it is just modification to the "Selection menu" and add button)
I asked the same question here:

And god decent answer Enjoy.

Changing System UI and Android System access from drop down (App notifications)

I just discovered this ability to select the notification when you drop down the quick setting menu and hold and select the system notification.
My issue is that while this is great so i can change the option to display the content, I don't know how to get them to come back when you select the option to Hide it.
They don't appear in Settings ->Notifications -> app notifications b/c these are System UI and Andriod System notifications. How can one access these if you have root and have made changes? I hope what I'm explaining makes sense.
This below is the option when you select and hold the Charging notification:

"lightbox_next": "Next",

How to kill an app widget from notification area?

ASUS ME302KE Memo Pad FHD 10
OS: Android 4.2.2
One of my applications, namely Yandex.Navigator, has added itself to notification list, so I cant even remove it from there. Pls see attached screenshot (highlighted entry).
Actually the only way I can kill it now is by switching off "Receive notifications" in the Settings -> Applications - > Yandex.Navigator -> Check-box "Notifications" , but I dont like this way of turning it off because it also disables the update notifications.
I also tried to kill everything Yandex-like from task manager, but it seems to have survived.
Is there any other way to turn off the widget from the notification area?

What Is This Notification Icon?

Hi Guys, I have a new 8T showing this notification bar icon. The only thing I did different today was scroll through Developer options and install Oneplus Updater.
Its easy to fat finger in the Developer screen, just touching to scroll can change a setting. I reset it to default and restarted.
I uninstalled OP-updater & restarted. its still there. I found a library with hundreds of icon listings but did not see this one.
What is it?
Thanks

Never mind, Its the Developer quick setting "Sensors on/off" toggle. Lesson learned, if experimenting in Dev Options, resetting to defaults, or turning Dev Options off will not reverse this setting, perhaps none or some at random.
