Your gonna have to look in the layouts of the settings apk. Depending on the rom it could be in different places. Some of it will be from the frameworks apks and some will be in the settings apk

i was wondering if anyone knew how to change the icons for the android system settings. since i have a droid, with stock android the system menu icons are all well, crappy. i like how sense ui has colored icons for the system and was wondering if anyone knew how to change them.
are the icons needed for change in framework?

Settings.apk/res/drawable-hdpi
you sir are awsome, thank you.
Something a little close to what the first post was talking about. In the settings.apk I have one that was themed and what to use a few of the pngs in other settings.apk sinse I reflashed with a new rom. I've already push a few back that I changed. The png i what to use is a 4G stat data connected, but the color needs be changed to cyanogen and a little transparent for CM6. What program besides PS4 can I use to do it
Thanks
I know you can use photoshop. Those are greyscale.go to image>mode>rgb, then you can make color. For transparent, use eraser too to delete the background. (Its how I did my stuff)

Hello all,
I'm trying to build a ROM which has a dark theme but the problem is that you of course can't read black text on a dark grey background, in which files can you change the font colors, is it in the framework-res.apk XML's or somewhere else?
Thanks in advance.

While you can change the fonts (you will need to edit around 60 xmls in the framework, settings, systemui and any device framework file like com.HTC.resources.apk) you will still run into black on black with 3rd party apps and there is nothing you can do about it short of editing every apk.

Ok, thanks, then maybe it's better to put work in a light theme instead of the impossible font color changing job
sounds so hard
Ok I pulled my Settings.apk and started Greying out a bunch of the Icons like I been doing with my SystemUI.apk but I dont know if i keep missing it but I can't find the Icon for the Connect to PC. And also how would I go about changing the blue border at the top of the settings screen and possibly even inverting the white background and black font?
BTW I am running an evo view with HC DeSensed-View Version 1.5
I haven't looked into this one yet on HC but the png should be in drawable-mdpi, ic_settings_connect_pc.png i think. If it's not there it's in framework somewhere. The top bar is in com.htc.resources.apk i believe (search for pngs with "titlebar" and "header" in the name) The background looks to be both a png and possibly a hex color in XML somewhere. And I'm not sure about the text colors yet..
I will be looking at settings, text colors and transparency in HC tomorrow.
ok now for the XML how do I edit that? And I just looked again it guess I already greyed it out but its still in color on my settings...weird I'm going to check framework now
Try looking at the theme links posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19712596&postcount=5

It's it possible to look at the stock version of Settings.apk from a different device in an attempt to strip out the HTC theming? I don't 100% understand how the whole Sense layer works - does it kind of overlap the stock settings application or does it throw out the stock art assets completely in favor of Sense?
I make the background transparent in apps like phone, messages and settings
The question is: do I have to edit to accomplish this because the apk decompressed messages and phone but I see something that is the bottom

Yes you have to edit the apks or the framework.
Could you explain a little better the problem

I want the apps have a transparent background so that the wallpaper to look into them, I have the pictures to messages, settings, phone, the blue theme and framework
Edit an image being transparent and Replace first select the topic and I have the black background
Is there a way to change the color of the notification ui?
I open the "stock android" app today and it changed the color of my notification ui from Grey to blue without messing around with it.
Is there a way to change the color back to the original in the settings somewhere (I've been searching for some hours now, changed theme and all, uninstalled and reinstalled nova and changed nothing) without installing an app for the notification ui?
I have nova launcher installed FYI.
@EmbleerFrith
I think you mean the quick settings background. It changes according to the background you set on your launcher in theory. If you open MiFavor launcher without making it default, then change the background on it, THEN hit the home button to get to the stock Android launcher, it should fix itself. I did that before, and it seems to work
Honestly I'd love to change the whole quick settings UI altogether, but I have no idea how to mod systemUI
I have noticed that it only changes if I change the theme of the phone and only then
Yes There is
Yes there is a way. You have to decompile SystemUI_ZTE.apk and do some smali code color changes. I have mine set to one color all the time.

can you make a guide or something? Maybe theme the B09's (or B35's) systemUI and share it somewhere? This would be a nice addition to @raystef66's ROMs, as an add-on
