You should always to check that you have the correct firmware for your specific device. But you can in theory flash/install UK firm on Europe Z2. But be sure to check this post, to always get the latest firmware and if you want a firm, you can find it there then. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759934

Galaxy s2 Flashing firmware via odin

Hi guys.
When flashing firmware through odin, sometimes there are 3 files to be flashed, and in certain cases only one (pda). Why is that?? I flashed 2.3.4 android using odin with only one .tar file, but now for 2.3.5 there are three files. I live in austria, and I flashed the "official" austrian version. Whats the difference between those versions? I am on austrian tmobile, and i wouldnt like to loose the network settings? Can someone clear this mystery for me, since I am really confused?
Thank you guys in advance!!

hi,
when you have one file, it means it has all been packaged into one and you flash it under the PDA section of odin,
when you have the 3 seperate files you put them into their individual sections in odin.
- Don't select Re-Partition!
hope this helps
Thank you for your reply!
It is definately helping. But, what does it mean the firmware that i flashed is for austria? They released 2.3.4 for many countries... Why does it matter? Whats the difference between this one and firmwares for other countries?

Please don't, even if you have 3 files.
Thanks. Do u maybe know the answer to my previous question?

Official Austrian version is Android 2.3.4 and the XXKI3 for Poland is Android 2.3.5.
So what will happen if I flash the polish version? I am talking about firmwares in general, even the 2.3.4... Why did they separate it that way? Isnt it pretty much the same for all the countries?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
dude,VERY IMPORTANT WARNING what "intratech" has given you.Do not select re-partition unless you are using a pit file. You are not so DO NOT tick this box or you will brick your phone.
Ya i figured that from all those different flashing guides... Thanks though... Do u maybe have an answer to my question about android version for different countries? Would it make any difference if I installed the polish 2.3.5 version on my austrian galaxy s2?

So, is flashing the polish version going to mess up my internet over network? Is it going to delete my network settings?

Yes if you want just flash firmware without CSC or change CSC after .
Or look in that thread for a multi csc or Frankenstein rom to fit .

I have yeah, I'm just not sure which one I need?
read the country or provider
and see codes that stand for which country and u should find right 1
or get latest version build...
as only changes in those will be newer might be stable and different would be crapware which are different in different roms most of times.. and one more regional languages might also be missing in other region roms

Try an Asian firmware, since it's closest. Do you remember your baseband version before flashing?

No, I'm afraid not. I figured I wouldn't to worry since I made a backup of all the original with CWM. For some reason, anytime I try to restore it, it just boots up whatever ROM I happen to have going at the time. Very frustrating
Latest NZ FW:
PDA:S5830XWKS9
Phone:S5830XWKS3
CSC:S5830VNZKP5
I have CWM backup, let me know if you still need it or not.

Check CSC NZKP5 (my post a page back). It is NZ stock rom. Baseband is XWKS3. That's the rom when I got my phone unless you've got parallel imported one.

[Q] Doubt regarding Firmware .73

Guys I want to flash my 1257-6758 Xperia S (.62) to .73 Since .73 is not available for Indian users I would like to know that .72 version of which country do i need to flash and i would also keep my warranty of my phone intact.
That's up to you. I would recommend Norway generic fw
You wont loose your warrenty if you flash any of the available firmwares. Even apps, settings and so on will remain intact if u flash but make sure you uncheck "wipe data" in flashtool.

I'm running the NL generic firmware at the moment, seems very good and stable so far ;-)

Hey I'm Australian and own an S3.. I'm sick of Vodafone update strategy.. I want to root, what do you think?
Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk 2
Ye root it, i rooted it too, except i think i need a replacement cause my phone has a problem.
Rooting could do lots of stuff.
If you ain't that good with computers and you don't want to stress yourself finding stuffs and working on it, don't do it cause it can risk your phone and might not brick.
Otherwise it's great to root
I've had the GNex.. I just hope it's as easy. Vodafone seriously piss me off..
I think Im Gonna root it.. just regret I didn't do that the moment I got it.. cause I seriously can't be stuffed going through the whole set up process again..

yes

flashing is just to do with odin...so

no need of rooting

Yes. But you'll be able to do so with root too...
Many people confuse the two, so just to clarify:
Rooting means having a tiny modification in the phone's operating system so it doesn't restrict you from superuser commands. This will not affect your installed data or ability to upgrade.
Custom Roms is replacing the stock rom with a new operating system package someone else built which may or may not largely differ from Samsung's own version.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I just want an official non branded ROM .so I can get the latest updates without carrier delays .
Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk 2
There are always delays, whether carrier-, region-, or whatever-related.
You can flash the newer Rom's through Odin tough (again: the flashcounter does not increase with original ROM's) to get it as soon as the file is released.
Unbranded S1's had to wait several months for Froyo update over here...
Where can I find the latest official firmware?
Also since I'm in Australia.. does it matter what region firmware I update to? Say.. can I update to an European based firmware?

Flashing stockrom from a different country?

Hello, I would like to ask something.
I knew that recently Samsung has released 4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy SIII International Version. The 4.3 update hasn't reach my country yet. I would like to know is it possible for me to flash another country's official frimware? Is there any negative effects?
Meanwhile, if I flash the latest stock rom back to my phone, will it be unrooted?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Yes, you can flash a rom from another country -which includes a modem for another country. If the modem is unsuitable you will lose signal strength or even all connection.
Of course if you flash an unrooted stock rom then your phone will be unrooted, that's the whole point.
Unless you are confident in flashing modems and kernels I would not advise using 4.3 yet -it isn't reliable unless you can replace both.
Thanks for the quick reply
In that case, is it possible to flash just the ROM without the modem/baseband? (SamMobile ROMs come with seperate PDA, Modem)
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
If your current baseband is EMGx or later then yes, you can flash just the rom.
Alright.
Thanks for your help
