While working to get my GPe Ultra back up and running, I was looking around for any good deals in case I have to end up buying a replacement, and came across a 32-GB version of the Z Ultra. I was so tempted but ultimately, I prefer LTE & this one is (Japan version) not LTE compatible with US At&t. But if anyone is interested, take a look at

I did confirm with the seller that it is not the Wifi only version, and not compatible with At&t LTE
Hopefully, the Z4 version will be out soon (maybe get more info next in March) and will have 32GB minimum.

Anyone know if any US carriers will be offering the device? I'm with T-Mobile and they have the Xperia Z (a million years after is initial release) and I was wondering if they may follow up with xperia z ultra?

In fact, I hope that the Ultra WON'T be picked up by a US carrier since it will result in a branded, bloated version with outdated ROM and locked bootloader. The T-Mobile Z is a warning (stuck on 4.1.2 for now, ugly logo on the back, bloatware and locked bootloader) and I would be sad if such a magnificent device as the Ultra would be castrated and humiliated like that.
The Ultra should be experienced as a pure Sony experience. To paraphrase an old Panasonic ad: "Visit Sony Store. Sony all the way. Nothing else."
What I hope for is that Sony will sell the C6806 in their stores since the Sony Store is great. They offer decent financing options too with their Sony Card with different rewards and points for those that doesn't want to pay it outright.
It is time for people in the US to buy devices unlocked, unbranded, bypassing the carriers altogether. What those carriers are doing to their devices is just horrible and sad.

I have the unlocked, unbranded X.Z.U. running T-Mobile and I couldn't be happier!
The only thing is I have to turn off WiFi in order to send picture texts. Why? No one knows!
Look into your MMS settings, that might be your problem.

Hey all, I am very interested in this phone, but I have a question...
I had the Z1s on T-Mobile, and as far as I remember, it wasn't rootable, and I couldn't put my custom rom on there. Is this possible with the Z2? I would love to have a stock Google rom on there if possible, as I am not a fan of the Sony skin and bloatware, but I am loving the phone design, and camera.
Just make sure you buy one with an unlockable bootloader (not carrier branded) and root is no problem

I'm also looking at getting a Z2 to use on T-Mobile in the US. I hope this unit you linked to is bootloader unlockable. Is this the lowest price you have found? I'm searching high and low for the best price before pulling the trigger.

dang, a couple days late on this one. I would have said get the white c6806. Why? Because the c6806 can run both Sony Roms, Stock roms, and GPe. As far as I know you can't do that with the GPe.

I read that and still chose the GPe version. Ultimately I went with the cheaper one of the two so I could justify using my Oneplus One invite to get that also. I will probably use the Ultra to replace my Nexus 7 LTE as my main tablet.
Hey, just ordered an Xperia Z Ultra C6806 from amazon to use as a Tertiary Device. My question is, is it a GPE device or just the standard LTE model?

GPE doesnt come in white....and you will get LTE no matter what.....
Buying a used z2 tablet off ebay. Its the verizon version. I don't have verizon/nor plan to use it on lte. Just wondering if it is rootable?
It is rootable. It is slightly involved and is limited to lollipop. Bootloader also cannot be unlocked.
